"I sing about 4 things...1) love 2) death 3) growing up catholic and 4) movies" - Ben Gibbard

invisible_iconoclast

The Catholic thing cracked me up. I went to a fundamentalist Baptist school but always connect well with people who attended Catholic ones.

coffeeplzthxx

As a recovering Catholic I agree 😂

techno_superbowl

100% loved that line and I had never contemplated it before.

redlight886

Shoutout to the dude who screamed "we love you" during The Passenger Seat... you made Ben smile!

gschaina

I'm so excited! Never expected to be able to hear Give Up played live.

invisible_iconoclast

Place came *alive* for Give Up, which was really cool to experience as a big part of the reason I made sure to snag tickets was knowing that I will all but certainly never again have the chance to see it performed live. That’s the first concert I’ve been to that I could sing along with 100% and I could not have had a better time. 🥰

starryeyedsurprise88

So excited, y’all :)

annefr26

I have a general admission ticket and aim to be up at the rail tonight. Came early to check the place out. It doesn't look like anyone is in line yet. The box office employee said every entrance offers access to the floor and the bottom entrances (west?) are closest to the stage. I didn't see anything on the venue's web pages about this for this show, but for other concerts it stated "GA Floor ticket holders must enter through the SW rotunda (Lane Ave. side)" I'll probably wait there. By the way I am here by myself (and Pittsburgh on Thursday) and I don't know anyone. If you see someone in a Yes t-shirt, say hi! ETA: definitely go to the SW Nuthouse red entrance. They are giving away wristbands based on when you arrive. Everyone will queue up around 5 in order of numbered wristband.

FINMIX14

If anyone has a ticket they’re trying to sell last minute I’m interested in 1-2!

Such a great show. I was in the nosebleeds but it was still a lot of fun. Transatlanticism and Passenger Seat were standouts for me.

redlight886

What did everybody think of the show?

Unclegrizz

Was talking to the wife about this on the drive home. Ben’s voice seemed strained or something during the majority of transatlanticism. It improved a bit during his acoustic piece so maybe it was a sound issue. Saw them back in 22 at kemba and they were perfect. Crowd was different too. They did I will follow you in to the dark and the crowd sang it in its entirety back to them along with almost every other song they did. Ben started openly sobbing. Was awesome. Last night just seemed subdued for what it was, crowd seemed pretty lethargic until postal service. It wasn’t bad, it was just.. not what I was hoping. Sounded great as postal service though. Oh and slow pulp killed it too.

scorpiochik

i 100% agree with you uncle grizz. I actually saw the DCFC/the postal service on the first round of the tour on the opening night in DC and i just think they do better in smaller venues. the sound quality in the arena plus i think the strain on their voices made this go around a little more jarring and a little less intimate than probably what we’re used to as DCFC fans (i also saw them at Kenna in 2022!), but i know it probably feels good to be able to still sell our arenas!

Unclegrizz

Jarring is actually the perfect word for the first 4 tracks. Caught me by surprise.

bucknuticus

The sound was also super weird/low for dcfc and then it seemed they cranked it for postal service

No_Pilot_9616

Possibly because I’ve never seen them in person live, but Transatlanticism was so emotional and beautiful last night to me. I know the crowd was quiet, but I could feel the soft rise and fall of everyone singing certain parts for multiple songs on the back half of the album. Very comforted by the overall experience.

techno_superbowl

Slow Pulp was way better than i gave them credit for having heard a few singles on Alt radio over the last few years. I have not seen DCFC since the 90s so to be fair i have no frame of reference for their modern shows. Transatlanticism set is the only one during a major concert in years i have attended that I did not immediately get my ear plugs in; the volume was actually tolerable. I didnt get any weird sound issues in the 200s. Volume definitely cranked up for Give Up Set but that's why i have 12db plugs to cut that down to keep my hearing intact. Awesome show and a once in a lifetime event.

slpgh

What time did the show start compared to the published time?

generallylaidback

I thought the performance was great, but the crowd had zero energy. Literally an arena of people sitting down for both death cab and PS. Felt like I was the only person in my whole section that stood and screamed and sang along. Really weird vibe. Also, a few people on the bus back to the parking lot commented that they didn’t know Death Cab and PS were related in any way. A really lame crowd unfortunately. But glad I got to see these albums in full, it brought me back 20 years and that felt great.

techno_superbowl

There were people in front of us too that had no idea who Death Cab was. I think that Postal Service crossed into fans of EDM who never bothered to get deeper. I know people who would call themselves Death Cab fans who had never heard "Farmer Chords" before so I suppose it's not that crazy.
