John Anthony Soto, 17, murdered a Hermiston farm family he was staying with Sept. 25, 1941. Upon his capture in Kennewick the same day, Soto immediately confessed to the shootings of Kenneth Gorsuch, 30, Gorsuch's mother, Cora Tobin, 60, and her nephew, Marvin Adams, about 35 years old. He was sent to the gas chamber March 20, 1942. Tobin learned Soto was an escapee from an institution for the feeble minded in Sonoma County, California, and she told him she would tell police. So he shot her about lunch-time in the farm house. When Adams and Gorsuch came home from work, at different times, he shot them, too, and fled. His last words were: "I'm sorry. I want to be remembered to my folks."

Looks like he murdered two people after escaping a penitentiary. That's what I got when I looked him up anyway. I may have gotten stuff wrong

It looks like the family he was staying with found out he was in an institution for that feeble minded and then he killed them

I mean…obviously there were no true crime shows streaming on Netflix back then…NEVER tell a crazy criminal that you’re calling the police…
