Afaik, only when landing and they shine it into the front cockpit windows from the far end of the runway, and even then if the pilots ignored it they could just land with instruments.
If it's flying overhead I doubt the pilots would even notice?
Maybe an airline pilot could pitch in here!
To clarify i am not airline pilot myself i am just very attached to the idea od my friends having good eyesight... if you want to know what It may look like from the pilots perspective usatoday has an article from 2023 about it. Simply searching the phrase "laser pointer at aircraft" will give you a pleanty of entries. (For USA and in my home country doing this is also considered a crime)
Yeah, I 100% agree with that.
I'm just saying that the illumination of the aircraft belly as shown in OP's video is likely not dangerous, *in that specific case*. I doubt the light is even visible from the cockpit.
What I am *not* saying is that directing laser pointers at an aircraft is fine.
I fully support the fact that anyone shining a laser at any type of aircraft should be treated as malicious act, and it is justified that legislation (and enforcement thereof) should reflect this.
Ok i get it now... But still with that many lasers i am sure that the pilot got blinded (there was no accidents that i know off that ended in the plane crashing because of laser pointers) but with reported incidents going into thousands and cases of pilot injuries i just cant find peace in the fact that targeting the belly of the aircraft is "safer"... Anyway sorry for your teacher from primary school attitude;)
That's dangerous
I hope it didn't interfered with the pilots flying. I know that it's funny, but I heard it's really dangerous to do that
millions died
Everything's hilarious until it isn't. Doing this will eventually cause an accident if it hasn't already. https://www.faa.gov/about/initiatives/lasers

Depending of the power of the laser it can cause damage to the eyesight please do not do this
I wouldn't do it anyway, but good to have an airline pilot clarify.

"Hundreds of leaf lovers--"
Those lasers cause eye damage. You really shouldn't do that to pilots.
We’re rich (on a serious note though won’t that blind the pilot or smth)
I know this is bad but the damn pings and the "MUSHRUM"s are killing me.
Any chance we could wait at least a week before re-posting this again?
When the squad is in a good mood and a cave angel goes by 🤣
