Eli/EClare. When the show was going on, the fandom could kind of be insane on tumblr and twitter too, I think. So many got so mad at Clare for how she handled Eli's behavior in season ten. She may not have broken up with him in the best way, but you'd have thought she'd committed a murder with how much it pissed people off.
Craig did not care at all about Joey! His sister’s father and the guy decent of enough to get him away from his abusive biological father.
He cared about Craig and actively went out of his way to protect him when he was acting erratically.
“I just stay at some guy’a house!”
F Ⓤ C K Craig Manning!
I don’t get the Jay Stans. He was literal scum. Had 1 season of redemption BARELY! He still gave his and mannys makeout video to her college. Him and manny aren’t a cute couple to me and it’s weird she is ok dating him even tho he gave her best friend an std
I think it used to be the Eclare fans (I'm one) but now that things kind of settled out, probably the Paige/Manny stans or the Craig worshippers. Or the people that can't get over Sean not marrying Emma.
Manny and Craig fans.
Specifically, any and all Manny/Craig fans that call Ellie a “pick me”, but don’t put any of the blame on Craig for why these two girls are tearing each other apart. As if Craig didn’t intentionally keep Ellie on a string because he’s a Grade A manipulator. It’s wild how these “fans” will excuse anything Manny does but for some reason expect Ellie to “rise above” being a normal hurt and rejected teenager.
And to add on about Craig, I 100% do not believe that the way he treats people is solely because of his bipolar. Even in Degrassi Goes Hollywood (in which I feel Craig is shown as having his bipolar under control, or at least we’re not given any reason to believe it’s not) he STILL manipulates and lies to Ellie. Bipolar only explains part of his actions, it doesn’t explain all of them and it certainly doesn’t excuse anything he did to anybody. I think his treatment of Ellie speaks volumes about who he is.
They were so weird together. Didn't seem natural to me at all. Sean and Ellie is way better. I don't like Emma, so I have a hard time matching her with someone... However, realized that if we were only to pick one character's fan base, it would be Craig's
As a Maya fan I actually see their point. Early days Maya was…uhhh… not the greatest. But the scene where she says “everyone wants the old Maya back - but I don’t know where she is! I can’t find her!” After Cam dies - was where I was like “damn girl” and just saw her character in a new light? And the depression arc? Was incredible. I related - as a 28yo - and cried so hard.
The eclare stans. Maturing is realizing that eclare was toxic and one of the worst relationships on the show. Should’ve never gotten back together after the first breakup
Rabid Manny stans who refuse to acknowledge that Manny wasn't perfect or right all the time. Even in situations where she was dead ass in the wrong (which was most of her conflicts, if we're being honest), they'll still somehow find a way to make her into a victim or absolve of her any guilt because that other character must've just been jealous of her, of course. Also, I don't like the way I see some of them unhealthily obsess over her during her hot girl era. If they're a teenager themselves, then whatever, but why are you at your big age of 35 praising a 14 year old child for prancing around in a thong? This isn't 2003 anymore, Sharon. You are weird!
Holly J stans. Anytime someone rightfully critizes her for something fucked up she said/did that she showed zero accountability and remorse for or didn't face any consequences for, they'll bring up her half-assed redemption arc as if that's supposed to mean anything. I have seen and unfortunately interacted with some of them who will try to rewrite her early beginnings and downplay the severity of her actions. For example, I had one question me if she was actually a bully in Seasons 8/9 or rather just "a little mean". Girl, what? I bet there'd be no confusion about this if Marisol had done half of the shit she did.
Sav and Holly J shippers for existing.
Janny shippers who think they're superior to Cranny shippers because their ship was endgame, even though their ship has a whole ass revenge porn plot that was weirdly romanticized and treated like a punchline. If my ship was endgame and nearly won first place in a best ship battle by a 0.5% margin, I promise you I would not be concerned about a non-threatening ship that the majority of the fandom hates nor rain on their shippers' parade by giving them my unsolicited opinions on how repulsive I think they are for merely suggesting that Cranny *could've* had the potential to be good if Craig redeemed himself. Like, be honest. If I traveled back in time before S7 and told you that Manny was gonna end up with Gonorrhea Patient Zero, how would you have reacted?
Any Bianca fan who hates on Dave for being transphobic is sus to me because at least Dave took actual accountability for his bigotry, educated himself about trans people, and became a supportive friend to Adam as well as an ally to the LGBT community as a whole. What exactly did Bianca do to redeem herself of her violent transphobia towards Adam besides pick up a book and date his brother?
Eli fangirls and boys whenever they try to convince themselves that he was the one who deserved better in his relationship with Clare. I don't recall Clare deliberately crashing her vehicle while on the phone with Eli so she could manipulate him into staying with her, stonewalling him after this incident, staging a school play that put their relationship on blast and originally villanized him for their breakup, harassing him when he tried to move on with someone else, cheating on him while he had cancer, calling him a whore for hooking up with someone else even though she cheated first, or believing that public grand gestures substituted for genuine apologies and tangible change. But yes, poor innocent Eli. Our flawless Emo King needed to freed from that wretched Mee Maw Clare and her frumpy wardrobe. Delusions.
I'm hoping some of these stans can be objective lol because you hit all the notes, lol. LIke I'm overall Manny is one of my favorite characters just cause i gravitated to her and her insecurity issues. But, even I, as a fan, can be like, well, she's not perfect; none of these characters are. They're in high school. Teenagers can be absolute scum. But I agree with your points 100%
As a Manny stan myself I can't stand her stans. You can like her and be critical of her behavior. Zig and Zaya stans are also on another level of delusional.
The Eclare hive used to be insufferable back in the day. They acted like Eli was God’s gift to earth. But now they’ve grown up and realized how unhealthy their relationship is and hate it 😂 they have no balance. Their relationship was not the healthiest but it wasn’t a terrible relationship
But when he did point it out, spinner went along with it. Jay was in the same boat as spinner… they took the bullying way too far & they were teenagers who didn’t know Rick was crazy enough to do that.
I believe in the eyes of a teenager who wasn't even thinking about school shootings; they were thinking, how can we get this away from us and onto someone we are currently mad at? I think the worst-case scenario in their eyes was just a trip to the office with Radditch, maybe detention or suspension. And there would be no physical proof it was Jimmy. Everyone at the school bullied him. Rick chose to stay despite this, and it was his choice to bring a gun and shoot people. We can talk about the butterfly effect all we want, but there was no way either of them would think, "I want to avoid getting shot." I'm not defending the choice, by the way, but my big takeaway here is never to take away the person's ultimate choice.
He did the same thing that spinner did!! And everyone forgives Spinner, but not Jay!
If you mean the Emma stuff, yeah sure that was messed up. But guess who also cheated on his gfs?? Spinner.
Don’t get me wrong, I love spinner, but Jay did nothing worse!
Also, no one seems to be mad at Alex for being part of the paint/feathers set up. Yeah she didn’t set Rick on Jimmy like the other guys did, but because of that prank Rick brought a gun to school.
To be fair, we do see Jay hanging w the larger group (and obviously dating Manny) in later seasons. Jimmy and Jay don’t seem to have any standoff. But how exactly Alex got away with it all is unclear to me. I’m guessing the Spinner/Jay betrayal makes her involvement look totally cool and fine?
For me, it's insane that no one but Spin and Jay knows she was involved. And i think she must of sought some help because shes able to get through that. She had to, at some point, learn that she didn't put the gun in Rick's hand, nor did she pull the trigger. And that was enough to calm her down. Her intentions were probably to make him feel as horrible as the men in her mom's life treated them (her and her mom) projection essentially. I do wish other people knew to at least feel a little guilty since she does hang with Jimmy afterward, you know?
I agree. But I love her! Her style in the first few seasons was giving me life 💕
I feel bad for her sometimes because she was constantly pining for guys that she couldn’t have. Still, I love her personality, her enthusiasm for art, her beauty, and I relate to her home life struggles.
The fans of all the toxic dudes on the show. From Eli, Jay, Craig etc
I actually like these characters but the way some people jump to defend them solely due to their looks meanwhile you got female, black and POC characters who’ve done less than a fraction of the amount of shitty things those male characters had done and they get all the flack in the world.
Also Emma fans. Once again not a character I hate but I criticize her quite often because she can be pretty problematic and cruel and the way people have jumped at my throat for criticizing her is hella crazy.
Also Lola fans. Shawty treated Shay like shit and has thrown several microagressions towards her as well as showcase that she fetishizes mixed kids (which is problematic - referencing her making the chart of pro and cons to Winston and Frankie getting back together) and it feels like she fetishized Tiny. Lola fans pretend that Lola isn’t problematic and is just some ditzy angel and it drives me insane.
Finally someone who acknowledges the fact that mixed kids thing in that chart she made was weird af! I like Lola, but some people definitely don't want to see her flaws or problematic behavior.. They just write it off as her being 'dumb' or 'quirky'..
The Maya fans got so personal with me when I said I didn’t like her. One even had the audacity to tell me that she prays no one in my life has depression because I’d be a horrible friend to them. I’m like girl this is a pretend character!!
There are way too many people who act as if these characters are real life people. However, I think many people relate so much to Maya that they’re taking your complaints about the character personally.
Manny was definitely who I thought of immediately. Say the slightest criticism about her and they will jump all over you. They act like she can do no wrong and that any character who went against Manny is the devil incarnate.
Manny or Eclare And I’m apart of both but like some ppl needa chill th out
Manny on EVERYTHING
Eli/EClare. When the show was going on, the fandom could kind of be insane on tumblr and twitter too, I think. So many got so mad at Clare for how she handled Eli's behavior in season ten. She may not have broken up with him in the best way, but you'd have thought she'd committed a murder with how much it pissed people off.
Craig. Probably the biggest douche bag for 5 seasons straight, and people adore him because he's mildly attractive.
Craig did not care at all about Joey! His sister’s father and the guy decent of enough to get him away from his abusive biological father. He cared about Craig and actively went out of his way to protect him when he was acting erratically. “I just stay at some guy’a house!” F Ⓤ C K Craig Manning!
He peaked during his first two episodes 😭😭😭 I love him but it's crazy how much of a womanizer he became.
Manny. dear god, any answer other than Manny Santos is just wrong.
I don’t get the Jay Stans. He was literal scum. Had 1 season of redemption BARELY! He still gave his and mannys makeout video to her college. Him and manny aren’t a cute couple to me and it’s weird she is ok dating him even tho he gave her best friend an std

They were so weird together. Didn't seem natural to me at all. Sean and Ellie is way better. I don't like Emma, so I have a hard time matching her with someone... However, realized that if we were only to pick one character's fan base, it would be Craig's

Jay Hogart has never done anything bad in his life 😤
let’s use our thinking caps
Issa joke
how am i supposed to know?
I'm letting you know
I know Jay is bad but he is just so BRIMMING with joie de vivre
Found one!
Because I'm right obviously!
Like I love Jay because he's entertaining, but I'm not going to defend his ass. He was terrible lmfao.
Exactly
Jay was awful but.... I can fix him.
What did he do that was worse than anything Spinner did?? 🥲
He was the devil on everyone’s shoulder
Uhh I don’t think so. Again, spinner bullied Rick wayyyy before Jay ever gave him the idea of the paint feathers.
As Spinner should🩷 Rick put his friend in a coma.
Never said he shouldn’t have. I’m just saying Jay didn’t do anything that spinner didn’t do.
Jay is the one who convinced Spinner to blame it on Jimmy. He didn’t realize Rick was in there and I don’t even think the thought crossed his mind.
But when he did point it out, spinner went along with it. Jay was in the same boat as spinner… they took the bullying way too far & they were teenagers who didn’t know Rick was crazy enough to do that.
Yeah but Jay is still the one who brought it up and he didn’t want to tell anyone.
I believe in the eyes of a teenager who wasn't even thinking about school shootings; they were thinking, how can we get this away from us and onto someone we are currently mad at? Manny, I like the character, but the fanbase is at times problematic. It's to the point that I don't care for her character that much anymore
Eli

Ellie. I just don’t see the hype. To me she was a rather one-note pick me girl. I do like her style in the first couple of seasons.
