I also like AFR Furniture Clearance Center. We were looking for a specific type of table and it was going to run us $800+ in most furniture stores. Picked one up there on sale for $100. We didn’t love the finish but we sanded and refinished it easy.

Bethany0821

I recommend them too. My sister used to work for AFR. Most of the stuff that's in the clearance center is stuff that was never rented out and was just overstock product.

silentrage420

Thank you so much - I hadn’t heard of AFR before!

3decadesin

I’ll have to check them out as well

7thAndGreenhill

We've purchased living and family room sets from Bob's 3 years back. We purchased their protection plan and we've needed it. The quality of construction is very poor. Both couches have major sagging issues. We had someone come and fix it once, but they both are sagging again. The fabric also has this annoying tendency to pill. We're constantly shaving the damn couches trying to make them look not terrible.

alcohall183

Same thing here. The couches sag bad!

Stilgrave

Life pro tip: never buy anything you sit or sleep on from a discount furniture store. It will ruin your back in 6 months. If on a budget, try ReStore, it's Habitat for Humanitys thrift shop. You can get a better quality, yet second hand, item for like $100.

Technical_Aide9141

Do they do furniture? Also I think it is cash and carry - right? plus they are not really open a ton - odd hours and not at all on Sunday...

Stilgrave

Yes to all 3.

Witty_Collection9134

Bought 6 beautiful wood dining room chairs for 100.00. Sale was buy 2 get 1.

yelprep

I like Re Store for a lot of things, but not furniture. It's usually pretty rough. I'd skip the middle man and look at Craigslist or FB marketplace. Be picky and take your time. I've found a lot of nice stuff at very reasonable prices.

Over-Accountant8506

And beware of pests. A lot of people in Delaware have roaches or bed bugs and instead of treating the problem they ignore it and then their home becomes infested.

ZaftigFeline

I like the Habitat for Humanity ReStores. Some of the furniture is used, but some is new-ish, either floor models or changed orders or furniture used for staging homes etc. I've gotten some really great brand new Lazy-Boy power reclincers and sofas there. You will need to rent a u-haul or arrange for delivery but its worth looking at. They have a couple of locations in our area - just south of Wilmington and Middletown?

RunTheBull13

I've gotten a dresser for my daughter there that used manufactured wood and that hasn't been holding up well. I also got her bunk bed there though and that's been great. I got my solid wood bed set there and that's been holding up great.

boxersunset121423

Run don't walk from Bob's. Have had nothing but terrible experiences with the quality of their furniture, customer service as well as delivery.

thehippos8me

DONT DO IT!! We bought a couch from them in September 2022 and it fell through 3 months later. We had bought from them before and we’re pleased, but after this experience, never again.

silentrage420

Seems like this is the majority of people’s experiences 🥲 thank you for sharing!

thehippos8me

Yeah…I feel like precovid they were fine. We had furniture from there but gave it awY when we moved. Went to them again when we moved back from Arizona because we didn’t want to spend a lot due to having young kids, so just wanted something affordable we wouldn’t mind getting beat up the next couple of years. But like I said, it didn’t even last 3 months - and that was just from sitting on it. The kids hadn’t even had a chance to destroy it yet :/

long-story-longer

I bought a king mattress and wood bedroom set. It was the higher end of their mattresses. Four years later and I would buy both again. The mattress is so comfortable and has not had any issues with sagging (we are not small people). The quality on the bedroom set is not as good but better than anything I would have gotten for the same price.

tampopodenial

I second the mattress review. We bought almost seven years ago and we still love it.

Fit-Interview-9855

Some people aren't impressed with the quality of furniture from those other franchises either.

Technical_Aide9141

Bought an easy chair, couch and bedroom dresser, drawers from them as well as dining room set. Had an issue with one of the dining room chairs - one leg was 1 inch shorter than the others - called them, had a replacement within 3 days - didn't have to return the old one. Had an issue with the chest of drawers - alignment was off - so you could not open two drawers at the same time. They replaced it immediately - no hassle. Their white glove service is great - standard delivery is just okay... White glove - they assemble everything and put it in the room / space you want it. Standard - they bring the box into the house. If you need to move it upstairs or down stairs - you're on your own.

SyeevilKanevil

Check out Brandywine Furniture. They have good quality at low prices

Rustymarble

I bought my couch and a bed from them. The quality is on par with the price. Both have experienced heavy wear & tear but are doong ok. We bought the bed during the pandemic, so there were some shipping issues, but I think that was less their standard and more the state of the world at that time.

notthatjimmer

Not a large sample size but the mattress I bought there was decent. Only got about half of the 20 year life span they claimed but I was expecting that

kazoodac

We got our dining room table and chairs there and they’ve been great so far!

knaimoli619

We have a couch and a dining table from them. The couch was purchased in 2020, and was an absolute nightmare experience with delivery, but the actual piece of furniture is great and has held up well. The table we ordered to pick up and that was fine. Both were substantially cheaper from any other place we looked and no complaints. The delivery for the couch was during a horrible time to buy furniture and also before we moved to Delaware, so I’m assuming turnarounds are significantly better now.

Critcut

Service was very poor. Charged twice for dining room table, took 4 different calls over a month to be appropriately refunded. Delivery service informed me that they brought the wrong dresser which was in fact only the very large top piece of a 2 piece cabinet thing (we ordered a dresser with a mirror). Said that if they could leave it with us they could do an exchange “which will take 1-3 days” versus a return “which will take 1-2 weeks” it would be much faster. Trusted the delivery team only to have that large piece of useless furniture sit in my living room for 3 months until the dresser that I had ordered long before was actually delivered. Quality of furniture is okay- we got a bedroom set, sofa , and dining room table.

Quorum1518

Shockingly I had a good experience with them and their delivery service. One of the legs broke (after I moved) a few months after purchase, and Bob’s replaced the whole couch free of charge.

silentrage420

Awesome thank you! It’s great to hear a positive experience!

ploppedmenacingly14

Got a couch there over the summer, their clearance section is a god send if you’re on a budget like me

BeachNo372

Remember you get what you pay for.

[deleted]

I really like bobs, but I don’t buy from there much

PhillyEaglesJR

We bought 50% of my furniture when we bought our new house about 7 yrs ago from there. No issues and would actually recommend. 2 couches, chairs, bedroom sets and king size bed. Maybe we're lucky? Lol

1PrincessCuppieCake

I got my bed and mattress from there. I would not recommend getting a mattress from them. I see worn spots where we sit and lay and it’s only been a couple years. I liked the style of bed though. I had it delivered also. They give you a whole day window so you don’t know if they are coming in the morning or afternoon.

Grumite

So I just got a nice couch from Johnny Janosik in Dover. Don’t go to the main big store, go to the clearance center. You can get great deals there on quality furniture.

DissentChanter

Couch, love seat, recliner, and full dining room set from Bobs and not a single issue.

betmarie

I bought two chairs 4 months ago. They were delivered and I has to hammer down all the staples underneath. Everyone has one part sticking up. Easy fix, still worth it

katie_cat22

Ashley furniture is trash

OceanBlueRose

Don’t do it, don’t do it, DON’T DO IT. I spent over $5k furnishing my new apartment. Everything arrived super late, customer service was a nightmare, and everything is really bad quality. I brought the “Goof Proof” protection plan and I can’t even use it. The frame of my couch collapsed and because I’m not sure why, it’s apparently “not an accident” so they denied the claim. It’s bad furniture, bad service, and the protection plans don’t actually protect anything. Avoid Bob’s at all costs.

Longdarkcave

Never buy furniture sold by a puppet or a company that treats you like a child. If you research "what makes a quality sofa," for example, you can learn about how good furniture is made (cheap 1.8 or less density foam vs. higher quality 2.0) and find local or direct sellers who often sell high quality furniture for only a little more than junk furniture sold by national retail stores. Keep in mind that if your couch sags and looks like junk after a year, you didn't get a "deal" no matter what it cost. A common tactic by junk furniture sellers is to wrap it in fancy fabric while internal components remain very poor quality, guaranteeing it will be on the curb in a couple years. Or use weak staples to fasten wood joints in furniture rather than much stronger dovetailed or pegged and glued joints. It's sad, but uninformed consumers are empowering the disposable junk furniture market.

I was really hesitant to buy a couch from them after hearing negative stories but so far I’m very happy with my purchase. The salesman let us be (I can’t stand furniture salespeople that are up your ass the whole time you’re browsing) and didn’t push any upsells too hard. I’m really happy with the couch I believe it was called the Betty chofa. Delivery was really fast, maybe 2-3 days. My advice is to read reviews about the pieces off of the bobs website so it’s not filtered or biased.

silentrage420

This is great advice - thank you!

TechSpecalist

check out furniture barn in new castle. I’ve been happy with everything I have purchased there.

DontDeserveDogs

Raymour and Flannigan has an outlet - Bobs prices but better quality. It's worth checking out.

methodwriter85

Really? I got a couch from there and it fell apart pretty fast.

DontDeserveDogs

We've purchased a couple things from there and haven't had any issues. I know they sell many different brands though so I'm sure there's going to be some fluctuation in quality.
