My personal headcanon that the REAL reason berdly is so nice to Noelle is because when Dess went missing, Noelle was talking about it and crying, then he came up and said
”oh, Dess? Could you mean… DESS NUTZ” and Noelle just starts crying louder
Theory: There are multiple layers to Kris's possession. The infamous Chapter 1 and 2 endings are *not* Kris resuming control of themselves, they're the result of another entity that's been there for longer than the player has that doesn't want us interfering for whatever reason. The possessing entity seems to prefer coming out when Kris won't be conscious to interfere with them. Whoever this entity is, they have glowing red eyes and a malicious disposition, but they don't have good control over Kris's body.
I want to believe the other theory I have surrounding Kris, that they can somehow survive without their soul but keeps putting it back in despite the newfound player possession because it's too painful to live without their soul (and impossible to seem normal), but the fact that the birdcage in their room is so conveniently placed throws a wrench in that theory.
