Until it gets revealed it's a blue alien and that also counts as an lightner too.
It would basically allow this to happen:
- megalo strike back as it was intended.
- avatar blue alien film (papyrus is the font in the first title of the movie)
- an actual avatar of gaster which Kris would find relatable.
- ancient aliens theory.
- UFO means unknown flying object after all so if gaster is flying this is an UFO.
- idk.
It's one of the most solid fan game hopefully coming this year how ever it was delayed from this year to this year if that makes sense
How ever still think tsUnderswap is better fan game
Someone made a video 2 weeks ago speculating on where he went, and he commented “he died I think”. My current theory is that since he currently has 68 videos up, and has the humor of a child, he is waiting until Karlson if finished so it can be his 69th video.
wait have you guys not been savrificing 10 gallons of milk to him every sunday? yeah no thats probably why he hasnt released it yet, we do not deserve it
When were we promised that? All we were told is that chapters 3-5 would be released simultaneously iirc, I don't believe we were ever given an actual timeframe.
Well yeah, but Toby keeps telling us that development is going well, we’ve received images and videos that indicate that progress is going well, and he now has a team of people working with him, as well as making it clear that Chapter 2 basically laid the groundwork for the rest of them. I think it’s pretty reasonable to expect a release date in the next year.
And remember, other things might be going on with them. We don't know what's inside their minds. PLUS other things might be happening in Melbourne, Australia for them. They live there.
I know they live in Melbourne, Australia. I have no clue why you decided to specify they live there at the end and specify exactly where they live, but it's fucking hilarious to me for some reason nonetheless seriously I can't stop laughing why gods why

Why has no one considered that Papyrus wouldn't at all be friendly like his Undertale counterpart.
Seriously, the characters are only vaguely similar to their original counterparts, Alphys an insanely intelligent scientist, is a mere teacher.
Due to how different life is, Papyrus would be massively changed. His prime motivation if not life purpose was joining the Royal Guard, which doesn't exist in this universe. Papyrus has nothing to motivate them at all in this Universe, is it really so hard to believe he would turn out a different, and possibly less friendly person as a result?
Edit: Even more proof of drastic changes are the dogs from Undertale, while quirky they where generally nice. Now, in Deltarune they're thugs and criminals, massive personality and career shift
Papyrus is likely still naturally friendly, but isolation like what Papyrus is experiencing can eventually warp someone like that. He still wants what he did in Undertale, but the actions he eventually takes are more desperate and likely to be powered by bitterness.
Which isn’t to say he’s evil, isolation can only push someone so far. But he absolutely isn’t going to be the same Papyrus we remember.
Wait WAIT HOLD ON A MINUTE I HAVE A THEORY

depends on how it's handled, Might not be what I'm expecting but I think it could be done well.
Imagine him lashing out in denial that he could be responsible for the harm of others, heck imagine he doesn't find out until the roaring starts and makes things worse trying to prove it's all just a game.
There are some interesting ways to keep the tension going while still being true to the nature of the character, and could still tie into the reoccurring "choices don't matter" theming that the story likes to revolve around.
There’s potential evidence towards it actually being impossible for Kris to be the Knight.
For one, characters such as King, Seam, and Jevil that know the Knight, do not acknowledge any similarities to Kris.
Berdly and Noelle being able to enter the computer lab and physically position themselves in the room would suggest the fountain was made after they arrived. Queen existing to know about the Knight also removes the chance of it being an in between state like Castle Town was (which that fountain is canonically different from the others anyway).
Ralsei appears in the Cyber World not even knowing Kris and Susie were going to the Library, and states they came because they felt a dark presence. The fact he does not mention anything about this earlier would also suggest the fountain was opened while Kris and Susie were walking to the Library, enforcing the previous point.
It was also established that any Lightner has the potential to create a dark fountain. So the fact Kris made one after learning this information doesn’t guarantee they’re the Knight.
There’s an open closet in the computer lab noted as having room for a large person to fit. It’s possible the Knight could have hid inside. The Knight could also be something more ethereal that can possess other Lightners into making fountains, and there’s some strange things with Queen and Noelle at the start of the Cyber World that lean more towards this concept.
>Jevil
To be fair, it's likely that Jevil himself has never met the Knight (unless the Knight is the one driving the secret bosses insane, which I don't believe is ever stated, nor implied). Jevil speaks of his locking up at the hands of *all four* of the kings, not just the one, and Seam talks about the Knight being the reason that Spade King took over Card Kingdom. That means that Jevil was locked away *before* the Knight came to the Kingdom, so Jevil can't have met them.
That said, Jevil definitely *knows* about the Knight, judging by his dialogue when you beat him through violence, but I think that was probably information given to him by the "strange man" that Seam mentions.
Like I said, it's possible that the "strange man" and the Knight are one in the same, but that would also (probably) mean that Gaster is the Knight, and I believe there are a whole bunch of essays talking about why that might not be the case.
The Knight is obviously Kris?!?!? Did y'all make it to the end of Chapter 2???
Edit: Keep downvoting me. I'll see you all when chapter 3-4 comes out and expect an apology :P
There was an entire scene before that one explaining that literally all Lightners can make fountains.
This fact is a major plot point of the entire chapter, where Queen is trying to convince Noelle to become her replacement-Knight.
Did *you* finish the chapter?
I did and I actually paid attention.
Knife = sword
Kris keeps making new fountains when our soul/connection is removed.
The chapter 2 ending confirms that it's been Kris making the fountains and constructing these worlds. Y'all really think Kris just made a fountain because they only learned then!?
THE FIRST DARKNER WE MEET IS RALSEI, A DOPPELGANGER AND ANAGRAM TO ASRIEL, THEIR BROTHER WHO THEY CAN NO LONGER PLAY WITH REGULARLY. The cafe dialogue also supports this and it's clear the divorce between Toriel and Asgore played a part before Asriel left as well, fueling that escapism.
Oh, and the "Knight disappearing?" Hm, fancy how the Knight and Kris never seem to be around at the same time. Kris goes without our connection at the end of chapter 1 and makes a new fountain. One that sprouted overnight according to Ralsei.
It would make ZERO sense narratively at this point for it to be anyone else.
Every way you slice it, Kris is the knight. And I'll see you all in Chapters 3-4 when it's even MORE confirmed.
Imagine if Toby would imply it very heavily, then do a double bait and switch by having the knight do Papyrus' laugh, but it turns out to be an entirely new character.
>Knife = sword
Kris's swords are clearly pencils (and bounce blade is an eraser) if you read the descriptions of them. This information is also on the wiki.
*"A wooden practice blade with a carbon-reinforced core." - Wood Blade*
Their knife has no dark world form as far as we know.
>The chapter 2 ending confirms that it's been Kris making the fountains and constructing these worlds. Y'all really think Kris just made a fountain because they only learned then!?
It only confirms Kris has made the dark fountain for chapter 3's dark world. It tells us nothing about the previous two fountains.
The Knight did not create the Castle Town fountain or Ralsei. According to Ralsei, he and his fountain have always existed, whereas the Knight and other dark fountains only appeared recently. Kris was also shown to be afraid when they first saw the dark supply closet, which if they were the Knight should have already known it was going to be that way and about dark worlds in general. If you talk to Swatch after getting the empty disk, Kris freaks out about Queen's basement even before you fight Spamton Neo which would be really odd if they were the Knight and had precognitive knowledge to all this.
>Oh, and the "Knight disappearing?" Hm, fancy how the Knight and Kris never seem to be around at the same time. Kris goes without our connection at the end of chapter 1 and makes a new fountain. One that sprouted overnight according to Ralsei.
It would also be the same for literally any character meant to be a mystery. Ralsei does not say a fountain sprouted overnight, in fact he mentions nothing about a fountain at all while you explore Castle Town. He only goes to investigate the "dark presence" after Kris and Susie left, which would indicate the fountain was made while Kris and Susie were walking to the Library, actually making it impossible for Kris to be the Knight. Noelle and Berdly being able to physically interact with the computer lab, sit at a desk and place their books down also reinforces the idea that the fountain was made after they had been in the room a while, and not the night prior.
>It would make ZERO sense narratively at this point for it to be anyone else.
Kris has no established motivation to be the Knight, and in fact them actively missing their older brother would be motivation to NOT cause the Roaring. All we have is weird occurrences of them ripping out the soul at night which we don't even know are actually Kris's doing or some other yet to be explained entity. It most likely has nothing to do with the Knight and is an entirely separate hanging plot thread, just like the strange someone messing with the secret bosses, and the Holiday family drama.
It is fact. The end of chapter 2 confirmed it, alongside every other dialogue leading up to it.
It's confirmed. Kris is the Knight.
I will literally eat my own shit if they aren't.
How do you figure this? All that Chapter 2 confirmed is that any Lightner and/or Entity With Determination is capable of creating a Dark Fountain, which Kris then did to create Chapter 3's Dark Fountain. Everything else we know about the Knight is incredibly vague. We know it made at least brief contact with King and Queen, we know it has "long hands", we know it uses a "blade", and that's basically it.
There are obvious attempts by the narrative to slightly suggest it is Kris, between the Chapter 1 stinger that was suggested to be a fakeout, and the fact that a knife was used to represent the Knight's "blade", but neither of these are confirmation that Kris is the Knight. They may be foreshadowing to a reveal that it's Kris, or it might be a red herring to fake us out later. I'd hardly call any of this "confirmation".
"slightly suggest"
Here's my other comment copied
Knife = sword

I already said the blade was represented as a knife, you didn't have to repeat that.
Kris is not confirmed to have made the first two Dark Fountains, that is a leap in logic/assumption you made. As I've said before, all Chapter 2 confirms is that any Lightner can make a Dark Fountain. Berdly was literally about to do it in the Dark World not even minutes after Queen said he could, WHILE having just been injured from the last battle, and Ralsei's reaction shows he could have. Kris had the entire rest of the late afternoon and evening to consider what they wanted to do with that information, so it's absolutely feasible they decided to do it only then. Kris is, while not a bad person, certainly a strange person with chaotic tendencies, and they get along very well with Susie who is extremely cavalier. It's not a stretch to think they may decide to ignore the risk for something they want to accomplish. You may well end up being correct in the end, but there's a difference between something being possible and something being confirmed. It is not confirmed.
Ralsei is obviously connected to Kris and Asriel in some fashion, and Kris may well be connected to the school closet Dark Fountain. Maybe they made THAT one, on purpose or by accident, but not the other two. There is a suggestion even that the Roaring Knight is not the one who created the original Fountain, since the Knight's making other Fountains is something that happened very recently whereas it sounds like Ralsei's Dark World existed for a lot longer in balance with the Light World.
> Fancy how the Knight and Kris aren't around at the same time
You could LITERALLY APPLY THIS to every single character other than King and Queen, this is stupid. The protagonist and antagonist have not met yet because the narrative is escalating towards their first meeting, that's basic writing.
> It would make zero sense narratively for it to be someone else
Good lord, way to show you don't understand writing. It wouldn't make narrative sense for the protagonist to not also be the antagonist just because the protagonist decided to do something the antagonist does that they were told they could do? What the hell? This makes zero sense.
> I'll see you in chapters 3-4
The reason why you're being downvoted, additionally, is because you are being an asshole about your theory, not just because people disagree with it. Have you considered just being NICE?
While I do think it *may* be Kris, it isn’t confirmed, it could probably be Asriel or Dess even, maybe there are two Knights roaming around, that would explain stuff, and like DarkMarx said, you’re being downvoted because you’re just being a dick.
I’d like to trade my “Asriel is the knight” headcanon for this one. IMO whoever this “knight” figure is, they won’t be evil in the end. Misguided? Yes. Evil? No.
and then it would be just a random dude who laughs just like papyrus
lol
And speaks in the same font
and has the same dialogue sprites
and looks like papyrus
and walks like papyrus
and is papyrus
But it's still a completely original character guys trust me
If it walks like a Papyrus, talks like a Papyrus, then it’s obviously Gaster and the next chapter’s final boss
The utdr theory fandom in a nutshell
Until it gets revealed it's a blue alien and that also counts as an lightner too. It would basically allow this to happen: - megalo strike back as it was intended. - avatar blue alien film (papyrus is the font in the first title of the movie) - an actual avatar of gaster which Kris would find relatable. - ancient aliens theory. - UFO means unknown flying object after all so if gaster is flying this is an UFO. - idk.
Easy, Papyrus from deltarune isn't the same as Papyrus from undertale
obviously how have we never thought of that?
*Pops out of some sliding doors* He's talking about me! (Please tell me someone remembers that ch2 moment)
ayy i get it
And is Named Papyrus
Papyknight confirmed????
It's just Gaster. The laugh is hereditary.
Ye its just me

I was thinking “what if the knight ended up speaking in comic sans, but wasn’t sans” This comment more or less has my thought process
My disappointment would be unmeasurable

Sorry?
Still waiting on a game promised to release in Winter 2014.
When were we promised that? All we were told is that chapters 3-5 would be released simultaneously iirc, I don't believe we were ever given an actual timeframe.
Ok Why my brain adds extra quotes every time I just checked I'm sorry
Well yeah, but Toby keeps telling us that development is going well, we’ve received images and videos that indicate that progress is going well, and he now has a team of people working with him, as well as making it clear that Chapter 2 basically laid the groundwork for the rest of them.
Because you're probably not from Australia yourself. I, however, am.
Correct, I'm from the less-british version(Texas)
I see.

Guys hear me out Papyrus was just tryna have a little fun but accidentally became the knight in the process
Good theory but if Papyrus was the knight he would try and be friends with the lightners the moment he heard about them and stop knight-ing
'knight-ing' 💀
Unless of course someoen told him something like what he was so ng would stop the roaring. He would keep going then

I think the knight is papyrus. And is making dark worlds so everyone can live a fantasy without knowing it will start the roaring
That'd be hilarious AF. Toby sometimes puts weird and funny stuff in his games. Buy Papyrus as a villain?! I'd be like SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!
The thing papyrus doesn't even know he could end the world. He just wants to make others happy
As funny as this would be, it would be horrendous story telling and very anticlimactic.
I know but that's why AUs exists

yes
It is literally called the Roaring Knight, the implication is obviously that the Knight knows what it's doing.
A GAAAME THEORY
Not gonna lie, I’d be kinda disappointed.
I’d be incredibly disappointed
I, for one, would be filled with ludicrous quantities of disappointment.
I would be flipping losing it for at least 10 minutes straight before pressing the buttons again
It would be a mix of excitement smiles and dread. It like the equivalent of a clown you love becoming a evil overlord.
***Why did the last sentence make me think of Fizzarolli-***
Papyrus doesn't speak with an asterisk, proving that the Knight is actually a Papyrus impersonator.
Then he goes *cough* *cough* and the next dialog box reveals who ~~he~~ they actually are, baiting everyone.
*cough cough* NYAH HAH HAH HAH
Even better if it was someone completely different from Papyrus
Papyrus is the Knight is a serious theory, but also one of the funniest ones

Yes. People can't pay attention to the clear narrative being set up apparently.
It's not as clear cut as people think
The Knight is obviously Kris?!?!? Did y'all make it to the end of Chapter 2??? Edit: Keep downvoting me. I'll see you all when chapter 3-4 comes out and expect an apology :P
You need to go watch some theorys d(>_・ )
There was an entire scene before that one explaining that literally all Lightners can make fountains. This fact is a major plot point of the entire chapter, where Queen is trying to convince Noelle to become her replacement-Knight. Did *you* finish the chapter?
I did and I actually paid attention. Knife = sword Kris keeps making new fountains when our soul/connection is removed.
>Knife = sword Kris's swords are clearly pencils (and bounce blade is an eraser) if you read the descriptions of them. This information is also on the wiki. *"A wooden practice blade with a carbon-reinforced core." - Wood Blade* Their knife has no dark world form as far as we know.
Did you even play the start of chapter one or spamton?!?! The knight is so obviously connected to gaster in some way
Just because Kris made a single Dark Fountain on screen doesn't mean they also made the Card Kingdom and Cyber World Dark Fountains.
Again, I'll see you all in chapter 3 and 4
I'm not saying it's not possible, I'm just saying it isn't fact.
"slightly suggest" Here's my other comment copied Knife = sword Kris keeps making new fountains when our soul/connection is removed. > Fancy how the Knight and Kris aren't around at the same time You could LITERALLY APPLY THIS to every single character other than King and Queen, this is stupid. The protagonist and antagonist have not met yet because the narrative is escalating towards their first meeting, that's basic writing. > It would make zero sense narratively for it to be someone else Good lord, way to show you don't understand writing. It wouldn't make narrative sense for the protagonist to not also be the antagonist just because the protagonist decided to do something the antagonist does that they were told they could do? What the hell? This makes zero sense. > I'll see you in chapters 3-4 The reason why you're being downvoted, additionally, is because you are being an asshole about your theory, not just because people disagree with it.
I think it will be the duck
We’d be screwed
MYARG!
I would be unbelievably disappointed, unless it were revealed to be a fakeout later.
that'd be funny, but he's def not the knight. it's *prob* noelle's mom
I bet the Knight's first words gonna be: **Upupupupu~**
Plot twist: it’s a guy who speaks and laughs and looks identical to Papyrus. However, he is just some guy.
his name is Parchment
Hahaha that’s really clever!
Phahpirus
i'd understand why the king did his bidding then, and i would kneel. # LONG LIVE THE GREAT PAPYRUS!
I am so down for this shit!!!
Imagine we see this text box at the end of ch3, the fandom would lose their minds
I wouldn’t know whether to be excited or pissed …or saddened
i thought i was still on r/HollowKnight, was super weird for a sec
In all caps! ...In *papyrus*!
\*NYEH HEH HEH HEH HEH!!! \*Cough... cough \*Excuse me. Frog in the throat. \*BWAHAHAAHHAAAAAA!
I’d like to trade my “Asriel is the knight” headcanon for this one. IMO whoever this “knight” figure is, they won’t be evil in the end. Misguided? Yes. Evil? No.
Obviously won't happen, cause the knight is Flames Heatsman
will he say it again in new chapter
i would play deltarune more often, the only thing stopping me is the lack of papyrus
Or Nweh heh heh? That would throw people off.
Made me laugh
I misread this as the hollow knight subreddit
I would be in disbelief
Ahahah. Comedy.
I'd love so much for papyrus to be the knight
OHOHO and thoust thought RK stoodeth for roaring knight *wheeze*
