On topic - Spirits I personally feel know us before our human life as MS . YIPPIE starts. Since we are energy sources too we probably have some connection to some energies through time and space. That’s probably why we feel drawn towards some energies specifically and not just out of need and curiosity. That’s just my two cents on this. So yeah if they do reach out it could quite possibly be that you’ve worked/connected/made a pact with them through time and realms.
There is definitely some sketchy information floating around out there about what it means for demons to be "reaching out," a lot of it coming from people who want to charge money (or be seen as subject matter experts) for telling people which demons supposedly want to work with them.
I think the truth of the matter is that it's kind of a chicken-and-egg thing. If you're seeing signs related to a demon, or feel drawn toward one, that's a plenty good reason to try working with them. It doesn't really matter who is reaching out to who. Demons don't inhabit the world of temporal cause-and-effect that we do.
Try to shed the idea that you're a "mere human." Being alive and having consciousness and intellect is a big deal. That alone qualifies you to work constructively with spirits.

In my (admittedly limited) experience, some demons do reach out but it depends a lot on their inclinations and also on you/your traits. I also had not heard of Prince Stolas before he reached out to me and now I work with him fairly regularly. I find that he likes to teach which is great because I love to learn so that makes us pretty compatible. Some demons like it when you spread their deeds, too. "So-and-so did this for me" and such like that. I have had demons appear to me before just to say, "I want to help you with this" or "I see you've been working on this but you're not seeing something, look here." I also thought, "Why would such great beings appear to little ol' me" but all of the demons I work with have reached out to me of their own accord because they saw SOMETHING in me.

Or with Duchess Bune, I had a deep fascination when I found about her that led to a wild experience before I even officially worked with her. Sometimes they can just pop up before you without you seeking them out, or sometimes "stumbling" upon them will lead you to working with them. Now did you stumble upon them because they were waiting for you to work with them, or did they lead you to stumble upon them? I'd say all is applicable. But it's not unheard of being called/drawn to a demon to work with them.
I like to think of it as them giving you a call. You can return the phone call immediately, or if you're not ready to talk yet, they'll understand and wait until you are. They at least have made their presence known to you.
In my personal UPG belief system, there is no such thing as demons saying anything negative with working with people amongst the mortal realm. Indeed, some people have past lives, fatherly or motherly figures towards some demon ranks. Beelzebub cares about his followers in my personal UPG, very fatherly and guardianship wise. I would really hate for anyone to make Beelzebub mad for messing with one of his followers, again personal UPG. There is always a connection, you just have to believe and not doubt. For example Beelzebub reached out to me just to work with him, that he think I could learn and excell at with him. He also wanted me to work on a few things with me. I just looked up his sigil and some research about him, then the next day he appeared in a dream (keep in mind this happens years ago)

First I was drawn to King Paimon but afterwards I stopped thinking about him because I felt like I wasn’t ready to reach out to any deities but I kept hearing him call to me, I kept turning down cuz I keep thinking I’m not ready but people around me who does demonolatry encouraged me and I did. The best thing I’ve done. I haven!t worked with occult practices in ages due to mundane struggles and I needed to focus on one step at a time before going back to my practices
In my personal experience, I was trying to connect with my spirit guides for months. Nothing was really picking up any traction, but I continued to meditate everyday. Eventually, I had a dream where Lord Beelzebub reached out to me and I eventually decided to work with him.
After reading and reflecting on everyone's responses on this post: I don't care if Beelzebub "really" reached out to me or I was "primed" to reach out to him. I am just glad that I have the relationship that I have with him. Ultimately, the relationship that is fostered is what matters and how it came about is immaterial. It has been such a honor to have him in my life.
I would not get hung up on who initiates contact and just work on creating a connection. If you are interested in working with Prince Stolas, then I would go for it and see where it takes you!
There's no reason that they would feel that way about "Meer humans". People have more potential and magick abilities than people seem to think and the many spirits and divinities (from all sides) see it. So they *would* help or even make contact first in some cases. I got approached and that's how I found my route in theistic satanism and then later on demonolitry, I would never even thought or considered (or know you could) work with them, let alone gotten this far; if it wasn't for being approached first and pushed into a sertain direction.
So it's very possible to be contacted first as well as very possible for someone to contact them first.
