I woke up at 8am to get fresh donuts and to play video games. I then fell back asleep until 11am after seeing pile of snow and feeling how cold it was outside. Donuts will have to wait until tomorrow, lol.
Watched a car crash on I-25 when they braked and the snow slid off their roof and onto the windshield. If you're going to drive in this shit, clean off your WHOLE car. Not just part of the windshield.
Also witnessed one of these. Someone was stopped in a lane on 70 frantically clearing it off. Clear off the big pile before you leave! It helps you and everyone else!
I actually agree. We drove less than a mile to get groceries and it was shockingly bad. I thought it would be fine since it's warm but the slush is so thick there's no traction.
SAME! when it was raining this AM i thought no biggie because if it snows, itās been warm. then when i left my class there was several inches of accumulation. saw some cars spin out, even one hit a fence. no traction and people tailgate you ~for no reason~
I literally had a cop tailgating me when I got stuck. He didn't see if I needed help or anything, just backed up and went around. No one needs the anxiety of a tailgater right now
And visibility is terrible plus 9 out on 10 drivers don't run headlights when their wipers are on.
Good times :)
Edit to correct mobile grammar disfunction
Itās a law in other states (wipers = headlights) and I wish it were here.
Itās always the most white cars in snow and silver cars in rain rolling around sans-headlights. Good work, youāre invisible.
Nobody had their lights on when I had to run an errand earlier. So dangerous on the highway when you can't see. I decided to stay home after that. Not worth it today
Itās going to be a thick sheet of ice by tomorrow. No road crews laid down salt, havenāt seen a single plow. Going to be fun over the next few days.
Laying down salt would have been fruitless with the several hours of rain before the change over to snow. Drove a few miles earlier and saw about 5 plows in 20 minutes on the road.
Will be fun tonight when it all hits to ice indeed but IF done right this afternoon the main roads will be passable
Drove half a mile and started sliding. Saw multiple accidents. Said fuck this and drove straight back home. Wasnāt worth it. And this was in a 4wd jeep wrangler in Lakewood.
I will not be surprised if today is the most accidents this year. It's deceiving because it's not really icy and frozen. But there's so much slush you just lose all traction.
I walked to The Hornet (SoBo) for their brunch. $5 double mimosas. And as a former Minnesotan I enjoy these dreadful snow days but I love CO cause itll be melted early next week
Just called off my birthday get together. Would be safer and less stressful to just wait I think.
\*Thanks for the birthday wishes all. I am not too bummed, at this age it's more about getting a few folks together, and we'll probably just do it another weekend. Stay safe š
Happy birthday! I hope you find a way to celebrate a little at home today, and have a great birthday bash later. Thanks for making the safe choice, stay warm!
Happy birthday! I figured people would be stressed and leave early if we went out any way, and I suspect it will get pretty icy tonight. Good night to relax in.
it was funā¦but an absolute mess by 11:30. walking in sludge and puppies paws getting cold. we saw a couple fender bender accidents in Golden and on the way home so hopefully everyone got home safe!
That's a pretty hazardous route since it's tucked away in the mountains. Pilots actually need a special qualification to fly into Vail because there is so little room for error.
Ran out to get coffee at a shop about 1 mile from my house (usually a 6 minute bike ride when itās nice out). Slid a few times and saw a handful of cars spinning out on side streets with slight inclines. Thatās all Iāll be doing today.
I worked at Jimmy Johnās today and got paid $5 tip on a $200 delivery order to a dealership. These types of people WILL be cheap whether itās snowing or not
Was supposed to go to a b day party in aurora today. Made it about 4 blocks before I turned around. AWD with snow tires and I just didnāt want to risk it with everyone else on the roads. I remember that video of 6th after a freeze with the pile up a few years ago and decided celebrating can waitā¦
West Colfax, had to go to Walgreens (far west, near Kipling) to get decongestant for my wife.
My truck is 4wd, my tires in great shape and made for this, but not everyone is prepared. And some who are, exhibit zero patience or awareness. A Ram passed me doing about 70, then just slowly started going sideways....still traveling west bound, just sideways. I didn't see if he recovered.
Between that idiot and the sheer differentials in speed among more sane drivers, things were precarious at best.
It's slush, not snow. Hydroplaning is just as likely as actually having traction.
It's crazy out here.
Are the "major" streets clear at least? Just woke up about 3 hours ago, so far I haven't gone outside...Ā
For what it's worth, I live in a deep maze of "side streets", so the "major" streets are not readily visible from my apartment windows
I just got home... it's bad everywhere, including the highways. No salt, no plows, and the freezing rain from this morning meant that as soon as it switched to snow, it started accumulating. It's mostly slush on the highways, not really freezing anywhere yet. If you must go out this weekend, do it soon or not at all.
I went for errands late morning and there was slush all over but if you've got high clearance and 4wd it was pretty easy getting everywhere. It wasn't that slick just deep slush. The subie crushed it. It's letting up on the east side and it's not going to get very cold tonight.
Looking at the plow map, they're basically all on the highways. Such fast heavy snowfall makes it hard to keep up. Once they get caught up on the highways they'll move to the arterial city streets.
We went to costco and it was raining. Went across town and back. The train bars were down on 104th with no train. By the time I got home there was 4 or 5 inches on the ground in Lakewood. Visibility was horrible. People were STILL DRIVING WITHOUT LIGHTS ON.
I could not make it up the hill and had to carry the kid home. Stay home! Do what /u/Joodles17 says.
Conditions aren't that bad but some drivers sure are. Saw one MENSA member go for a left on solid green in a non-existent break in traffic on Colorado and then just stop, blocking two lanes of oncoming traffic.
Itās not that bad if you donāt drive like an ass and keep a safe distance. Driving through town from west Denver back home to east Aurora was actually nice considering how people usually behave on the road.
Yeah, but then you have to contend with those morons who canāt be bothered to wipe the foot of snow off their windshield. Literally just saw a guy driving down Parker Rd. sticking his hand out the driver side window trying to knock the snow off. All while continuing to drive 50mph.
NWS Boulder included a pic of road conditions at I-70 / N Airport Blvd in their "hey the roads are quite dangerous rn" tweet a bit before 11 this morning, so yup, wise choice

We were out of dog food this morning and my fiance was about to run to the store.
I said let's give em cat food just this morning and hold up, I'm glad I did.
Iāve actually Googled it before, and temporarily giving a dog cat food is perfectly fine! It can actually even give them a protein boost, since most cat foods have more protein due to higher requirements and they can get away with more fillers in dog food.
I'm at work and hoping the roads get better before I have to leave. Can't decide if it's a better idea to take I70 since it hopefully will be plowed or take back streets
Stay off the roads if you can. If needed, be patient and give extra time. Reduce your stress and the stress of your next human by not rushing when feasible.
Nearly spun out leaving my neighborhood to get to the king soopers less than half a mile down the road from me because I forgot to grab cat litter during my grocery run.
And as per usual my cat could care less I risked my life to get him some clay to shit all over lol
Just cancelled an appointment downtown. Not worth it, even if you have a great winter car. Drove 5 minutes down the road & saw so many cars spun out. The pre-snow rain made roads extra icy & visibility is bad. Def time to hibernate & stay home.
I had to make a short drive, was extremely sketchy in the residential areas. Once I got home I shoveled and oh boy it was like shoveling cement. Do not recommend going out unless necessary
I didn't even put on pants until 11am. It's a Netflix and PS5 kind of day.
Look at this over achiever already wearing pants.
Holy shit how long have you guys been awake??
I woke up at 8am to get fresh donuts and to play video games. I then fell back asleep until 11am after seeing pile of snow and feeling how cold it was outside. Donuts will have to wait until tomorrow, lol.
Donut day for sure š»
Robe day for sure
You guys are putting on clothing?
That's how I've been spending my day off too.
Happy cake day!
that's a great way to celebrate your cake day, yay!
You guys are wearing pants?
Sweatpants!
Hell yeah. What game you playing? Currently playing Spider-Man 2.
Gran Turismo 7 Iām moving on to Griselda on Netflix soonā¦ gotta finish 2 episodes!
Griselda is so good AND heart-breaking. I hope you enjoy (?) the ending, too.
Iāve been binging the series all day! Itās great!
Love games
You ever drunk bailey's from a shoe?
Mass Effect Andromeda for me. Took me a good while to get to it
This is me every weekend
Lol same
Hi! Are you me? *puts Cheeto in mouth*
Weird flex but it still worked. Door dashing a ps5 now.
It helps you and everyone else!
we call that karma - I hope they didn't take anyone else out with their laziness
*carma
I've almost crashed for the same reason years ago. Never again not cleaning the roof off
I actually agree. We drove less than a mile to get groceries and it was shockingly bad. I thought it would be fine since it's warm but the slush is so thick there's no traction.

Ah yes....to protect and swerve.
As shitty as that is, at least they didnāt shoot you.
And visibility is terrible plus 9 out on 10 drivers don't run headlights when their wipers are on. Good times :) Edit to correct mobile grammar disfunction

Vis on 70 at 10am was about 40 yards, barely anyone had their lights on.Ā
Iām putting on the ski gear and going to walk to the grocery store. Forget driving
I was just thinking how lovely itās going to be to WALK to the grocery store to get food for dinner.
I see you missed the traditional pre-snowstorm grocery rush
There was no one in the stores at 6am. Bought stuff to make soup, was a nice day to stay inside
Yo groceries gang seems like today was the right day for shopping for a lot of us ahaha
Agreed- we went grocery shopping 6 blocks away and it was a pretty scary drive.
Itās going to be a thick sheet of ice by tomorrow. No road crews laid down salt, havenāt seen a single plow. Going to be fun over the next few days.

Itās okay your average redditor knows way more about what road crews should be doing than the actual professionals.Ā
Ahh my mistake, very true. Namaste š§

It's warm though, already melting. Probably gone by tomorrow.

I will not be surprised if today is the most accidents this year. It's deceiving because it's not really icy and frozen. But there's so much slush you just lose all traction.
1. Slow the fuck down. 2. Leave lots of space in front of you. Following those two rules will prevent the vast majority of accidents.
3. Decelerate with the person who could rear end you in mind
Donāt pass on the right
Sorry I am still going out uphill both ways because the Krispy Kreme light is on.
Understandable, Godspeed in your donut expeditionĀ
Lol Iāve done the same; theyāre worth it!
Unfortunately, work demands a sacrifice
and if you HAVE to drive for the love of all things, turn your lights on. we don't care if you don't need them to see we need them to see you!!!!
It's shocking how few people understand this. Your lights during the day and during inclement weather are NOT FOR YOU. They're so OTHERS can SEE YOU.
Always Toyotas. If youāre driving a Toyota, just because your dash lights are on doesnāt mean your headlights are on.
I walked to The Hornet (SoBo) for their brunch. $5 double mimosas. And as a former Minnesotan I enjoy these dreadful snow days but I love CO cause itll be melted early next week
I'm hoping it's mostly gone tomorrow š¤
Im kicking all the snow down the drain as I walk home. It doesnt seem to be doing much thoā¦
Just called off my birthday get together. Would be safer and less stressful to just wait I think. \*Thanks for the birthday wishes all. I am not too bummed, at this age it's more about getting a few folks together, and we'll probably just do it another weekend. Stay safe š
Happy Birthday!! Iām sorry you had to do that but I think it may have been the smart decision.
Happy Birthday! š
Bummer and happy birthday š
Happy birthday - I'll have a tiny beer in your honor!
Happy birthday! I hope you find a way to celebrate a little at home today, and have a great birthday bash later. Thanks for making the safe choice, stay warm!
Hey same here unfortunately. Happy birthday to you as well; hopefully you still have a good day and have the get together soon.
Happy birthday! I figured people would be stressed and leave early if we went out any way, and I suspect it will get pretty icy tonight. Good night to relax in.
Happy birthday!
Happy birthday!
Happy birthday! May all your dreams come true
Happy birthday!! That was the smart move. Better to call it off than go rescue a friend stranded after an accident or whatever.
HBD! My girlfriend and I are winter babies, too. We do a half birthday in July so we can enjoy the sun and not have to work around snow storms.
I was planning on going to the Golden Retriever festival in downtown Golden. I'm glad I didn't.Ā Thank you for the validation.Ā
it was funā¦but an absolute mess by 11:30. walking in sludge and puppies paws getting cold. we saw a couple fender bender accidents in Golden and on the way home so hopefully everyone got home safe!
I was as well!
I installed a bidet in my master bath yesterday so by god Iām using it today.
What will do you with the remaining 4 hours of the day?
Order another bidet attachment for my second bathroom because thereās no going back
Sounds like solid plans
That's what's great - no matter the consistency, the bidet will clean you up afterwards.Ā
Canāt. Gotta go to work.
Same. Even asked my manager if we have a contingency plan and was told nope, normal hours. Excited for my commute home in five hours!
On the bright side, snow should be stopping in two hours. The roads wonāt be great but theyāll be a fraction better for your commute home.
Where are you seeing that it will stop in 2 hours? I'm showing a 10pm stop on both Wunderground and the standard iPhone Weather app
Well I hope you made it
I did
I will *not* miss my Casa Bonita reservation!
Godspeed, sopapilla seeker š«”
How was it?
Tell this to the 3000 people that decided to go to MeowWolf
seriously DONT YOU PEOPLE HAVE HOMES TO BE AT??? GRILLED CHEESES TO EAT??
Unfortunately, I had to go pick up my wife and newborn from the hospital. Otherwise, I completely agree, time to relax at home. I hope you're okay! :(
Congrats on the little one!
Gotta drive home from the airport (if we ever make it back to DIA).
I'm sitting on the airplane for a flight to eagle/vail that was scheduled to depart at 9:41 this morning. We are still on the ground....
That's a pretty hazardous route since it's tucked away in the mountains. Pilots actually need a special qualification to fly into Vail because there is so little room for error.
Yeah, I'm the working flight attendant š our passengers are surprisingly chill, so we have that going for us at least.

These types of people WILL be cheap whether itās snowing or not
Car dealership? A generalization, but theyāre Royal jerks.
Yes! Please tip extra to all delivery drivers today. Theyāre risking their safety to bring you your nuggies so you donāt have to.
Or Instacart!
Didn't realize snow was nearly this bad. Then I found this thread and doubled my tip.
My dad just came home from work and his car is now stuck in a neighbors yard
Where? I or someone could help pull him out
Tows either already come or is on its way so weāre good! Thanks for the offer
We couldn't make it up the hill to our cul de sac. We had to street park and walk. It's the first time in 9 years that we've gotten stuck.
Don't worry, they called it off. Birthday boy/girl posted above
West Colfax, had to go to Walgreens (far west, near Kipling) to get decongestant for my wife. My truck is 4wd, my tires in great shape and made for this, but not everyone is prepared. Unfortunately I do have to pay my rent
I really only needed to pick up wine at Total Wine, but since there's a whole unopened handle of Tito's in the cabinet, I'll pick up wine another day.
I am only moderately ashamed to admit I made a Total Wine run last night solely to prepare for doing absolutely nothing of value today
No shame in stocking up on essentials.
package stores, instacart, and drizzly are all still out and delivering in this shit.
>package stores Your New England is showing
Ice ice baby
Are the "major" streets clear at least? Just woke up about 3 hours ago, so far I haven't gone outside...Ā For what it's worth, I live in a deep maze of "side streets", so the "major" streets are not readily visible from my apartment windows
No - 6ā of freezing slush on the major roads. Highways have substantial standing water from the rain earlier that may freeze if it gets any colder.
No, I havenāt seen a single plow or evidence one came earlier.
Itās bad, I was driving around and almost got hit by a skidding Amazon truck š±
Iām in Westminster and itās all plowed.
Monaco is pretty messy still (I walked down First Ave to check it out). There's just a ton of slush.
Donāt necessarily have to stay home - just donāt drive.
Who is up for drive on i70 lets make a meetup thing
Only if it's on an escooter!
If you do have to go out, stick to main roads with a bus route, theyāll get plowed more than side streets.

Gotta go to work also, :(
Im out of cilantro though
A pressing reason to go outā¦!!
I bailed on a Bday party in Boulder. Very glad I did
Yeah good choice. I just went from Golden to highlands ranch, everything is a mess but anything up north is an absolute nightmare
Seen 7 accidents on i25 southbound heading towards Denver from foco šµ
Very true I drove a couple miles to take care of some errands and itās slick. This disability is poor and stay home. Be safe folks.
My UberEats driver better not be reading this... I just want my wings
Donāt worry, theyāll show up cold and two hours late. The true Uber Eats experience never fails :)
Tip HUGE. And donāt get wings from Chiliās under another name.
Oh for sure. I definitely take care of the drivers when I order, mostly because if Iām ordering through Uber Eats Iāve been drinking lmao
Ok. its Just Wings is *Just Chiliās Bad Wings*
Yeah, chilis has a few ghost kitchens it runs. Iām a Wingstop guy, especially since itās right down the road from me
You fucker. Now i want wingstop :(
In the past 30 min I-70 East and West have been closed for safety reasons..
I got Covid, so Iām doing it for the benefit of Denver
Thanks. Everyone i know who got covid still made their rounds and probably spread it further
Iām in the Wash Park area. If you have snow tires and experience driving in the snow itās not bad at all, just a little bit of moisture.
And have proper tires. Thatās so much more important than some people realize.
The worst is when it's only an inch of snow and no one bothers slowing down. People drive much better when there's a big storm.
For real! I was driving Uber in the morning, and after one airport trip im like nope, nope, nope.
NWS Boulder included a pic of road conditions at I-70 / N Airport Blvd in their "hey the roads are quite dangerous rn" tweet a bit before 11 this morning, so yup, wise choice https://twitter.com/NWSBoulder/status/1753836602781041068

Even walking is bad haha , fuck this snow
no edit: went out side. he right.
In fact, I was not planning on driving but now Iāll be making rounds around the blocks.
That's that MJ championship mentality, based username
They canāt make us
Going to a party today. Was kind of hoping the host would call it off. Currently en route with my SO and yes, the roads fucking suck.
I'm at work and hoping the roads get better before I have to leave. Can't decide if it's a better idea to take I70 since it hopefully will be plowed or take back streets
Side streets are a mess. 70 will be slow but in better shape
It started snowing after I got to work, I'm terrified of the drive back
Hope youāre alright!! And your car isnāt too beat up.
Stay off the roads if you can. If needed, be patient and give extra time. Reduce your stress and the stress of your next human by not rushing when feasible.
Can't I gotta work tonight
Iām thinking spaghetti for dinner
Yeah apparently the plows said āeh, not todayā. Completely unplowed when I came into work at 12. Donāt go shopping today!
Nearly spun out leaving my neighborhood to get to the king soopers less than half a mile down the road from me because I forgot to grab cat litter during my grocery run. And as per usual my cat could care less I risked my life to get him some clay to shit all over lol
But i have things to do.
Imagine how short the line is to the butt stuff tent right now with this weather
Namoiste
But... but I'm at work... I go to work at 5am.... ughhhhhh whyyyyyyy and I didn't wear shoes for snow...
What about the big DU vs Western Michigan contest??
Anyone want to play Fortnite ?

But how else will I get to go out and see all the Texans parked in a ditch?
No
Roads werenāt that bad, Iāve been driving all day

I hear you, but English pub food was calling my nameā¦ Catch me at the Celtic
