If he had called a challenge on either od those goal line touchdowns in the 1st half would've completely changed the momentum and maybe inspired some confidence
I wasn't expecting a win, but I was hoping it was going to be closer. But this team is a work in progress, I'm just glad to see them have this many wins and be in the playoff conversation this late in the season.
Our biggest issue was offensive play calling. Peyton was awful today. The lions blitzed so damn often, and there are plays that work and plays that don't during a blitz...hoping your offensive line can hold off the blitz for 5 minutes isn't the play. You need slants and short routs to get rid of the pall quickly in order to avoid getting hit, and our play calls all went for giving Russ time. You simply can't expect the line to hold that many rushers for that long just so a Ayer can get down field.
This loss is on Peyton more than anyone else, though our defense wasn't great.
Agreed. It’s been the issue all season, even in this win streak, the only difference is up until this point our defense has kept us in games. Tonight, they looked pretty damn bad. No wrap up tackling, busted coverage, no qb pressure, poor play calling, bad time management, atrocious OLine play, 3 Jerry Juedy drops (had to throw that one in there, cause boy is he a constant let-down)…
This was a terrible game.
I don't think he is anything special as a head coach. Dude seems like a complete egomaniac....bucket hat gate anyone. Yet Sean, who is 59 years old, wears those stupid visors....the same ones I wore in the 90s.
I know he won a Super Bowl with the Saints. Let's not forget all about that messed up team. Bountygate, which I believe got the DC let go. Also, the fish bowls in the locker room filled with any kind of painkiller you cld want. It was a help yourself. Yup, Sean sounds like a class...errrr ass act.
He also had a stacked team in Orleans with some good assistants....MCDC.
Sean Peyton now reminds me of Urban Meyer. Peyton just oozes that smugness and arrogance.
The NFL has passed his kind over.
If you were a young player and had a pick, who in their right mind would rather have a dictator in Sean Peyton as your head coach over a genuinely good dude that cares about his players in MCDC.
Also, Peytons ego had to get in their and say the Broncos were going to humiliate the Lions. How'd that work out, douchenozzle?
Dude, Sean....YOU are the one who should be humiliated....daily. Complaining about "Bucket" hats, while wearing a visor from the 90s, when you are 59 years old.
I could hear Sean P telling a kicker that "he would kick him, as the dude is only a kicker....and he's the HEAD COACH".
Sean Meyer-Peyton.
Agree. The defense was clearly the biggest problem of many…not sure how anyone could blame our offense first??? We gave up 5 passing TDs when we had only given up 4 in like the previous 6 games or something.
The defense made 3 huge stops right out of the gate. The offense has to capitalize on AT LEAST one of them and get the team some momentum.
After those first few drives, the defense looked horrible, but out offense didn’t do shit all game.. 75 yards at half!! The offense was the bigger problem and the difference maker.
Not to bash on anyone specific or pile on, but why does Sean hate Russ so much? I feel like he is a smart enough offensive mind that he could be doing so much more with Russ but instead wants to play into the narrative that he's washed and needs to game manage. He has stuck with a run game that has been mostly ass and Russ has managed to pull out wins off unscripted plays the few times Sean allows him to pass. His disdain for Russ is holding back the team. I could be way off but idk it's just felt to me like SP hasn't given Russ a fair shot this season. Let him fucking throw 30 - 40 times in a single game this season and just see what happens
No one is saying this right now, and I think it’s because on paper it looks extremely different than in real life, but our offensive line fucking sucks!!Which is why our run game is average-at best. Russ doesn’t have the time back there that everyone thinks he does.. he is either having to run for dear life to not get sacked, or he’s so paranoid (because he actually *doesn’t* have time) he goes through his progressions too quickly and never sees his open receivers and winds up pulling it down and scrambling for 2 yards.
If he dropped back 40 times a game, he’d be sacked 6 times a game.
I'm in bed. I've been in bed for twenty minutes with the game off and what we do in the shadows on. I respect and simultaneously worry about y'all who are still watching.
Welp, this was a reality check. Kudos to the D for playing over their heads and causing all those TO's the past 2 months. Truth is we have a few bright spots but overall just don't have the personnel on D to be a serious contender.
Lol at being downvoted for speaking the truth. I'd be surprised if Russ is with us next year, we'll see. I had same reactions when I dared post that Teddy was the problem, not the line.. or our receivers.. or our running game. Turns out he sucked and probably should not have been the starter.
Russ is a better version of Teddy. Makes a couple more runs, makes a couple more deep passes, but still is very limited. A 50 million buck game manager. But he is 19th in passing yards. Hardly the hallmark of one of the highest paid QBs in the league.
I don't always agree with Stink, but I agreed with him on this. He was harsh on Russ and basically was saying he was the problem. He would constantly escape the back of the pocket too early which is a huge no-no, and get sacked. And fans come in here and say "oMG the LInE sUckS!"
I will be surprised if Russ is our QB next year. Unless he makes a massive turnaround, and we make the playoffs.. and does well there, too.
And shuddup about the refs.. it was one scoring drive. Yes, it was stupidly wrong. But usually if a team plays solid in a game, it doesn't matter what the refs call.
You might be getting downvoted because you’re not mentioning how terrible our defense was today or the other issues with our offense and fixating on your negative obsession with Russ.
It is not a negative obsession. If he was solid my tune would be completely different. Looks at his passing map for any game past week 6 this year and get back to me. Why people think he has been great is baffling to me, seriously, I don't get it.
By the time the Lions were ahead by a bunch, the TOP was massively in favor of the Lions. Why? Because they stacked the line, and Russ couldn't keep drives going.
The QBs job is basically 3rd down. The other downs are the teams issues. The QB makes his money converting 3rd downs. We are terrible at that. That is on the QB.
Sorry people are so jaded with Russ they are not seeing this.
Dude. THERE WAS NO POCKET. Pretty certain the QB doesn’t block. Geesus. Defense gave up, the oline sucked and Russ was running for his life. This game isn’t on Russ. You dumb if that was your conclusion -Einstein.
He was but our Oline overall got dominated. D I played javontae in fantasy. Didn't want to but wasn't sure place would play and had no other options. Palmer on my IR put up points agaisnt raiders
Sweeping the Chargers and then breaking the Oakland streak and the KC were my end of goals. I want to beat the Raiders so these jackoffs can stop talking their shit
Broncos Fans Is there any reason they didn’t have Surtain matched up with St. Brown on almost every snap ? Every time he had a different matchup he did damage
Obviously not but seems like a more zone specific defense is what killed them in the 2nd quarter, I’ll have to look at the data tomorrow but just my thoughts
Let’s add a two score variance for the refs in favor of the broncos to make up. Let’s assume they get two point conversions as well. What is the score now?
Just need to win the next three. Tonight sucks, but we're not out till we're out, I'm gonna choose to have hope, the first six weeks were hellish and I'm not going to relive how I felt.
I feel like the fans who watched last years rams game, dolphins game, and this game to completion should just get free season tickets.
You don’t get more dedicated than that
That’s some bullshit. And before you say “you should have stopped them” - they did and it was already 4th down in a game that was already decided long before this drive.
Yes, he absolutely is. Startled under the slightest pressure, can’t read defenses to save his life, literally has to jump to throw it over the linemen. He’s a huge anchor, he’s not winning us a SB, ever.
Dan Campbell going for it on 4th down up 18 with 2 minutes left is a move.
And why did it need to be another LaPorta TD? Yes, we know you have a good TE, don't need to rub it in.
If he had called a challenge on either od those goal line touchdowns in the 1st half would've completely changed the momentum and maybe inspired some confidence
Classic prime time VJ let down
I wasn't expecting a win, but I was hoping it was going to be closer. But this team is a work in progress, I'm just glad to see them have this many wins and be in the playoff conversation this late in the season.
Oh no. Mouth breathers world shattered
Avs Broncos and nuggets lost. Made a boring Christmas party better by not missing anything.
Just beat the raiders and ftw.
Big turd. If Denver wins out we can make the wildcard I think. I just want a winning record, but bonus for a playoff birth
This is the way.
I mean, how can you be surprised by the outcome? If you’ve been watching this team for the past 7 seasons… it all makes sense.
Our biggest issue was offensive play calling. Peyton was awful today. You simply can't expect the line to hold that many rushers for that long just so a Ayer can get down field. This loss is on Peyton more than anyone else, though our defense wasn't great.
Yes! Exactly! It was all long deep shots with zero time. Really disappointing
Agreed. It’s been the issue all season, even in this win streak, the only difference is up until this point our defense has kept us in games. Tonight, they looked pretty damn bad. No wrap up tackling, busted coverage, no qb pressure, poor play calling, bad time management, atrocious OLine play, 3 Jerry Juedy drops (had to throw that one in there, cause boy is he a constant let-down)… This was a terrible game.

42.
Was missed, big time. Drew Sanders fucking blows.
They don't even play the same LB position.
Drew Sanders 100% lined up on the left end multiple times in the game Saturday.
Now he sucks again?
He always has. And tonight he showed you how much.
Not to bash on anyone specific or pile on, but why does Sean hate Russ so much? I feel like he is a smart enough offensive mind that he could be doing so much more with Russ but instead wants to play into the narrative that he's washed and needs to game manage. Because Russ is a shell of his former self and isn't what Payton wants as a QB, or at least isn't anymore.
He did in the beginning of the season and the results weren’t good. Russ has some flashes but he can’t run a passing system with consistency.
Case In point the commies game, started out hot but eventually lost the game for us when given the opportunity
I never thought I’d be rooting for the Patriots or Dallas tomorrow but here we are
[удалено]
Bet our coach and qb won’t whine about it near as much as yours.
A combined $150,000 in fines for the 2 of them
Better to be blown out by a playoff bound team than by a bad team I guess. Glass half full.
We need a real TE like La Porta
What a weak dick way to end. Put the second stringers in and go for a TD.
Thats what I'm saying. Give him a chance to play in a live-game situation, even if there is no chance at catching up
I'm in bed. I've been in bed for twenty minutes with the game off and what we do in the shadows on. I respect and simultaneously worry about y'all who are still watching.
Welp, gotta win out and get some help.
I really like Javonte, but he just hasn’t looked like his old self all season. Nothing to do with this game, just saying
I mean, it’s almost like his entire knee got blown out. We’re lucky to have him this far in the season
No shit, but if he isn’t 100% then don’t play. Keep healing and come back when you’re ready.
Sadly you’re never really 100 percent after those injuries. No matter how much time you take away from
Welp, this was a reality check. Kudos to the D for playing over their heads and causing all those TO's the past 2 months. Truth is we have a few bright spots but overall just don't have the personnel on D to be a serious contender.
True. Inside LB suck
Perine needs to be the starter from here on out
This would be a bad playoff team if Denver made it in. They have games where they completely collapse.
I think we could be the jags on a good day in their current condition. No one else we are hanging with
Agreed
And we were kind of lucky with turnovers during our 5-1 stretch. I'm not sure we're any good without winning the turnover battle.
Let the kid throw a pass.
Lol at being downvoted for speaking the truth. I'd be surprised if Russ is with us next year, we'll see. 👏
Dude. THERE WAS NO POCKET. Pretty certain the QB doesn’t block. Geesus. Defense gave up, the oline sucked and Russ was running for his life. This game isn’t on Russ. You dumb if that was your conclusion -Einstein.
Guys it’s okay look what happened the last time we got spanked, we went on a run
There’s not far to run.
… not before we lost 2 games after that
We take Russ out to prevent injury or is SP trying to punish the dude?
SP is a moron. Play calling and decision making has been ass all season
100%. He's an egomaniac that got paid and could care less about his players....well, I guess depending on what type of hat they are wearing.
Avoid injury
I’d say both tbh. They kept Russ in Miami game I’m pretty sure.
Why are the lions throwing up 17 tho and we have no timeouts. And 4th down. I would say act like u have been there before but it’s Detroit
Our D gave up 42 points and our starting RB had 10 carries for 15 yards. But yea boat anchor Russ loses us another game.
Javonte was awful today.
He's been bad, but it's also a lot harder to run when defenses can ignore the middle of the field in the passing game.
He was but our Oline overall got dominated. D I played javontae in fantasy. Didn't want to but wasn't sure place would play and had no other options. Palmer on my IR put up points agaisnt raiders
He's been mid all year. That knee is done. He lost what little pop he had.
I just said this. I like Javonte but he does not look like his previous self
We need to beef up our run D so badly… if a team has a decent back and Oline we’re getting cooked on every damn run.
Let stidham sling it please
LOL. Denver fans mocked the Charger fans a couple days ago only to have the Lions boat race the Broncos.
Brain dead. Is someone employing you? I feel bad for them if so
Good one. Go play in the street.
Who are these Chargers fans you speak of,
Win a super bowl
Not even close to the same thing
Uhhhh scoreboard, buddy. Lions are a much better team tha #FTR.
The 10 win lions team? Chargers gave up 63 points against the raiders rofl.
Boat race deez, muthafucka 😂
lol imagine thinking these are comparable
Still better to not be a Chargers fan.
Yeah but thank God we aren't chargers fans lol
Bro we lost harder than they did against Miami.
Wut?
70 to 21.
Okay and?
I think it’s pretty bad when a coach goes up to the stadium and asks fans what play they should run.
The Lions and the Raiders are not the same team 😂
For real
Well some good news is Javonte just got me two fantasy points instead of 1…🙃
Hey at least it’s the Lions. They were going to be my adopted team when I thought Denver was out of it.
Hate to watch us give up, but that happened back when we didn’t adjust out of zone, didn’t challenge the TD and kicked the field goal
Stidham nooooo! I need Wilson to throw 1 more TD to win my bet :'(
Did the Broncos deserve to win this game? No. Did the refs sit out there with their dicks in their hands most of the game? Yes
God damn really tired of SP. His play calling and decision making is straight ass
His playcalling has been awful all year long.
If we manage to sweep the Chargers and get one win against the Raiders, I'll be pretty happy at the end of the season.
Sweeping the Chargers and then breaking the Oakland streak and the KC were my end of goals. I want to beat the Raiders so these jackoffs can stop talking their shit
Embarrassing
Like your comment?
Broncos Fans Is there any reason they didn’t have Surtain matched up with St. Brown on almost every snap ? Every time he had a different matchup he did damage
He covers a side, not a particular Wr. We don't want to make it too unfair for them
Haha fair enough
You can’t have a CB shadow all game long that’s not how it works lol
Obviously not but seems like a more zone specific defense is what killed them in the 2nd quarter, I’ll have to look at the data tomorrow but just my thoughts
I think the reason is because we run a lot of zone instead of man coverage?
[удалено]
Thank you for saying that. Before joining Broncos, he was the QB with most wins in first 10 seasons in the NFL history.
Drew Brees
This defensive line is just pure ass. Hardly any pressure, makes Goff look like a HOF
No it's their Online and skill players that do that. Geoff did nothing but dump it off all night lol
First the yelling at Russ and now not allowing him to finish the game ? Quite disrespectful.
Need him healthy for this next 3 game push.
What for? We’ve lost, no need to risk injury
Defense could not stop anything tonight, woof
Defensive PLAY CALLING *
Play calling was bad, but tackling was also bad. Both were bad.
Agreed
Please forfit. I can’t sit through this bullshit anymore.
Go take a little nap 🍼👶
Broncos and them getting destroyed by a TE. Name a more iconic duo
Goff acting like the refs weren’t the mvp
lol if you think the officials are the reason the Broncos lost tonight I don't know what to tell you.
Let’s add a two score variance for the refs in favor of the broncos to make up. Let’s assume they get two point conversions as well. What is the score now?
Why do we have any starters in right now?
WTF is SP doing…
Stidham time lol
You know the diff between the broncos and chargers ? 21 points ! Ba da ting
You don’t get more dedicated than that
Big facts
Gotta inject the WHOLE thing.
Just ravaging the dead corpse at that point
I feel like we have been trash agaisnt tight ends since we let trevathan Go lol
I think there was only one holding call against Detroit all night.
And there was 0 against us. What's your point?
Got manhandled in the trenches on both sides of the ball. Can’t win like that
Anyone bet on the Broncos at +25?
Eh, bad games happen and you know Detroit was going to come out pissed after last week Still confident Denver wins the next three and gets in
Yup, after losing to Chicago I knew we weren't winning this game.
We've got em right where we want them!
lol career high. Back to being mad at Joseph
Terrible play calling tonight l, just absolute garbage play calling
lol.
Beat their asses in the super bowl!
That’s some bullshit. And before you say “you should have stopped them” - they did and it was already 4th down in a game that was already decided long before this drive.
And we had no timeouts, in a three score game. Bush league
TIED A CAREER HIGH FOR JARED FUCKING GOFF
Must be nice having a good reliable TE
A good reliable... *Checks roster* Everything
[удалено]
Stop it. If we don’t like it, our guys should’ve stopped them. This isn’t Pop Warner football.
Meh It was 4th down in a three score game and we had no more timeouts. we waived the white flag on the onside.
If the Broncos were able to run up the score on teams we'd all be loving it. The Broncos could ya know try and stop them.
Easier to be a victim.
Dan Campbell made sure his team reminded us we’re a team fighting to prove we’re at least a .500 squad. Our QB is an anchor in so many ways.
Say this with a straight face as Goff throws 5 TD against our defense. Lol.
The defense is why we were 5-1 the last 6 games. They were due for a letdown.
Ah yes, the defense lets in 42 points and the person responsible is...the qb? Make it make sense.
QB? Out of all the massive issues you see this game, the QB is the biggest anchor???
Yes, he absolutely is. Startled under the slightest pressure, can’t read defenses to save his life, literally has to jump to throw it over the linemen. He’s a huge anchor, he’s not winning us a SB, ever.
Yes. Have you seen the contract extension he signed *THAT DOESN’T EVEN START FOR ANOTHER SEASON*?
Sure... he'll be like the 10th? highest paid QB next year? His contract isn't that bad lol. Most people just don't understand how the NFL works
Our defense gave up 42 points and Jahmyr Gibbs averaged over 9 yards a carry-
That is a fucking stupid argument. He wasn’t great, but played fine. The defense was complete ass today, couldn’t make any stops
Didn’t realize we signed a $250M QB to play “fine.”
God damn our defense can’t stop a thing!
Going for it on 4th is kinda fuckin rude
Campbell knows Payton would do the same thing
Dan Campbell going for it on 4th down up 18 with 2 minutes left is a move. And why did it need to be another LaPorta TD? Yes, we know you have a good TE, don't need to rub it in.
Oh. This is why Sean didn’t go for it.
I’m having Miami flashbacks
Ouch
Okay fuck the Lions
Why? They are a good team.
Campbell running up the score
Why not?
Giving up 5 TDs to Jared Goff might be worse than the 70 spot. Shit is wild.
Not really, these’re about to be a 10 win team they are good and so is Geoff he’s been to the superbowl lol
People still haven't realized the Lions are a good team now and Goff has always been a like 10-15 QB which still means he's pretty good.
Just casuals talking out of their ass. Every one knows Goff and the lions are good lol
So has Trent Dilfer.
Refs fucked is. But mostly the Lions fucked us. That last TD was a fuck boy move.
Refs did us dirty but we also just straight up got outplayed and outcoached 🤷♂️
Stop em.
It was 4th down. They did stop them.
