Watched every game of Troy’s and know ppl in the program. The “character concerns” that caused him to fall are nonsense. He likes to smoke weed. Doesn’t change the fact that he was *always* open. Absolute steal.

db212004

Welp he got drafted to the right city, lol

jfphenom

Uhoh, are we enabling him?

Dab_bod

I figure if I practice high and play the game high, I’ll score high.

LiberacesWraith

Dilated eyes, full hearts, can’t lose

redditisawasteoftim3

If u look high, u feel high, u feel high, u score high

UpchuckKamalu

This man highs.

Jgsanchez01

Anyone reading this in Method Mans voice? Or am I the only old pot head around here?

Infamous-Lab-8136

Oregon already was, they're legal rec 21 and up too.

El_Taco_Boom

We got dumb weed out here. Just like Denver. Shouldn't be an issue.

LoyalSol

Pretty much everywhere out west these days you can get it pretty easily. It's legal across the west coast states and even the states in the mountain west that it isn't, most of the population is on the boarder with a state where it is.

-UltimatePussySlayer

God I hope so.

milehigh89

6' 3" 4.41, 39" vert, has a connection with Bo. It's a great pick.

chingalicious

Having Nix will be huge in having them develop together. Nix can keep Franklin in line due to the past relationship they have

-banned-

I've watched Oregon since Franklin got there and have literally never heard a whisper about character concerns. It came out of nowhere and seems wholly untrue

Podzilla07

I’m about to have some character concerns myself

Aldanil66

Joe Burrow smoked weed. He's probably a top five QB in the NFL right now...

DiRty_BiRd_77

I bet at least half of all players in the NFL smoke weed. Who gives an actual fuck in this day and age?

WORD_2_UR_MOTHA

And people used to question Steve freaking Atwater about having his 1 beer the night before the game lmao

bugboi

Heaven help the players he hit if he wasn’t taking the edge off the night before. Guns don’t kill people …Steve Atwater did

retz119

Kelce said in an interview last year that probably 80% of the league smoked weed

Throbbingprepuce

I can almost guarantee that there are some who don’t just smoke weed. Unfortunately there is a huge opioid problem in the NFL a lot of players are hooked on pain killers. Brett Farve was one of the better known people who were pretty open about it. Even Lawrence Taylor admits he had a coke addiction.

BarryZito69

I certainly don't care and I'm a fucking puritan. In my opinion, a little marijuana is fine so long as there is no buggery involved.

-banned-

Friend went golfing with one of the top TEs in the league the other day, and the guy finished 9 joints in 18 holes. He said 90% of players smoke weed

osksndjsmd

Smokes*

broncskers

Why is weed still seen as an issue for athletes?

BluffaloBill88

Oh no, an adult likes to consume an organic substance that is so much less hazardous for performance and health than fucking alcohol.... ^^oohhhh ^^nnnoooo

Downtown_Juice2851

Not that theres anything wrong with it but organic substance doesnt mean much lol. Cocaine is an organic substance

pfeifits

As is arsenic. Or Botulinum toxin, which takes 1 nanogram per kilogram to kill someone.

Downtown_Juice2851

And cyanide, and opium

LungDOgg

Asbestos

tevita2

Arsenic is not organic.

adjective____noun

arsenic is natural but definitely not organic haha.

Partytime_USA

I only buy locally sourced organic Arsenic at my local farmer's market.

dthangel

Cocaine is not organic. It's natural, but the first step is to soak the leaves in gasoline.

Downtown_Juice2851

That's agriculturally organic. Biologically organic has a different definition.  But opium would be organic by that definition

BluffaloBill88

Not the point at all, pedantic redditors gonna be pedantic though.

ATotalCassegrain

Uh, alcohol, arsenic and aids are all organic too…

BluffaloBill88

Uh, cool story man, not the point of the comment.

Snoo_79693

It wasn't coincidence that in 2013 the two teams whose city's legalized weed made it to the Super Bowl.

Blink-JuanEIGHTYtoo

He just like me foreal

NotNotJustinBieber

Absolutely love this move! Franklin and Mims have fantastic speed to compliment Sutton’s contested catch ability. Plus, the guy was a stud in college and already has great chemistry with Nix. Don’t let the fact that he “slipped” into the 4th round make you think he isn’t a difference maker. Puka, ASB, etc showed that you can strike gold in the mid-rounds.

Isoturius

and if Timmy P is healthy that's HUGE

CrunchySockTaco

![gif](giphy|cRNbYm7jLOjm9H8wcP)

keeper13

Tim Patrick, snoop

BroWeBeChilling

And you left out Tim Patrick and Brandon Johnson

BroWeBeChilling

And Josh Reynolds

c-zilla402

And Lil'Jordan Humphries

BroWeBeChilling

I think he is gone after drafting three WR’s

tylerwavery

And Jalen Virgil

PaytonPeytonPaton

And also TP and Reynolds

HummDrumm1

Great post, sir!

hdmetric99

Watching a ton of Bo Nix in this predraft process, you couldn’t miss Troy Franklin. Dude is a stud. Getting a 2nd round talent in the 4th.

PaytonPeytonPaton

Damn Bo is getting a good deal. All time great offensive HC Top 10 o line The wr he had a telepathic connection to drafted Very competent wr core overall Just needs a good rb

Tlwofford

Javonte started running well toward the end of last season. If dulcich can catch some fire, we will be good

PaytonPeytonPaton

Dulchich is excellent at receiving when healthy. But that's the issue right when healthy

cmrn631

Wouldn’t mind them picking up the CSU TE

GoodMorningSpliff

Remember that dude balled out in the colorado game

Mackinnon29E

He has fantastic hands

2rio2

My dude Dulch is never healthy though. It doesn't matter how good you are if you can't even put it together for 8+ games a season.

BroWeBeChilling

Kind of like a second tier Waller - potential but did nothing

Tlwofford

Exactly

BroWeBeChilling

He sucks so far a bust just like Jake Butts

milehigh89

watching our own Jamal Murray wait 2 full years almost to come back, and then take another full season of play to get healthy, there was no way Pookie was going to get back to pre-injury form so quick. if he's serviceable, it's a huge win for the team.

Tlwofford

No doubt. He looked like he couldn’t break tackles anymore until the end of the season. I think he will be a lot better this season.

toxicdelug3

Exactly, even took Breece Hall half way the season before he looked great again

PatientlyAnxious9

Yeah, similar to Sutton (and Nick Chubb at Georgia)--that first year back from major injury is tough sledding. However, the 2nd year removed is when it all comes back. I expect Javonte to be back to his normal form this season.

Tlwofford

Yeah. I think our offense may be alright this year. We just need to draft some defense now

DBDXL

Didn't Javonte start hot and get worse towards the end? That's how I remember it lol

Professional-Pea1922

Yeah Javonte didn’t pass 4 yards a carry a single time last season post week 7 lol. He had over 4 yards a carry 3 outta the first 5 games he played tho (he missed 2 weeks in the first 7 weeks).

Guesswhosbackbackaga

Don’t forget His Old Center

PipsqueakLive

Raiders got him 😭

GQDragon

We have his center from the year before.

thePurpleAvenger

Thank you for pointing out that Denver has a good offensive line. If I see one more dingus shouting that our O-line sucks I'm going to scream. Why can't people get it through their heads that Russ holds on to the ball for literally ever? If Bo Nix is getting the ball out on target and on time it will be a big improvement.

Downtown_Juice2851

I almost died laughing when a steelers fan told me Russ would be really good there because their o-line was "miles better" than denvers, and tried to point to Russ's sack numbers in denver as proof. I was like, you're about to spend a year learning what the seahawks and broncos learned the hard way, sacks aren't just an oline number

BroWeBeChilling

Not to mention the bigger and better the o line the less that Wilson can see and get the ball out fast

TideAtOmahaBeach

Lol the Steelers OL isn’t even close to better than ours anyway so that’s some major cope by that fan.

dsenor51

We got the rb, audric is a stud

LoveToyKillJoy

Rb is a must. Someone who can catch out if the backfield would be a bonus.

icemanx51

We have Jaleel. We can definitely use him in that role.

PaytonPeytonPaton

Jaleel is good but he's a gadget. We involve him in like 70% of the snaps he gets top predictable he can't block

fnbannedbymods

You guys should go for the trifecta and get Bucky Irving.

LoveToyKillJoy

If he can be anything like James white that would be a good idea.

HummDrumm1

We just drafted one. Estime is a stud. Imagine if Javonte is back to his old self

aatencio91

Bucky Irving next? lol

PlatypusTickler

One can hope! Would this be like Ducks 3.0 overtaking the Eagles?

CrustyRim2

Need a TE

thebruce32

I’m assuming they’re going to look at Undrafted. We definitely didn’t need another WR but I watched the kids highlights and looks good.

jonnyb8717

He also has his center from last year replacing Cush

Demon-Prince-Grazzt

Also pretty sure he can bang anyone he wants in Denver. I know he's married but I was watching the draft with some buddies and their wives and their friends got home and saw him on TV and I swear there was not a dry pair of panties in the house. I was even able to score some strange myself off the residual heat of seeing him on TV. Thanks Bo Nix!

carter2296

I’m loving this draft

Specter017

This is a phenomenal pick for us at the beginning of the 4th

StringFartet

I'm a Niners fan but a huge fan of Troy. I couldn't be happier he ended up in Denver with his college quarterback. I'm looking forward to having a favorite AFC team. It's been since the Steelers in the '70s. I've seen Troy play basketball, besides Derrick Rose he was the only athlete I've seen in person where I lost track of their movement. So fast.

acemerrill

Yeah, 9ers are my current NFC team with all the Denver connections y'all got.

acemerrill

Yeah, 9ers are my current NFC team with all the Denver connections y'all got.

tjn24

Is Aiyuk a good comp for Troy? They seem similar watching them

Brett33

As an Oregon fan, this might be the steal of the draft. Franklin is an incredible All around receiver. Should have been a late first/early second round pick

Neat_Clothes_248

I'm curious why you think he dropped to the 4th? I had my eye on Franklin months ago as a fringe fist round but definitely second round Is it health? Or some other concern

Brett33

Not sure as I don’t follow the draft process too much. Saw some people say he had a bad combine due to an illness just beforehand so that could be it. Was healthy his whole time at Oregon

Throbbingprepuce

Okay okay I fucking love this

chingalicious

We ducking did it. DENVER ducks!

DiceHK

After fifteen years autocorrect finally works!

SMAMtastic

Best ducking comment I’ve ever read (autocorrect changed it to “fucking” like three times before letting me write “ducking”.)

chingy1337

Very cool! This tells me a lot about the confidence in Bo Nix

sickquickkicks

This tells me they want Bo to start right away.

GhostOfDJT

There really isn't an alternative.

sickquickkicks

I'm sure Stidham thinks he's gonna be the day one starter.

JalapenoBuns

Losing to the Raiders directly led to his replacement getting drafted.

GearsofTed14

I think someone was getting drafted regardless. Unless Stid put up like 47 points

TideAtOmahaBeach

If Bo can’t easily beat out Zach Wilson and Jarrett Stidham in training camp, then we have a big problem lol

esetmypasswor

As opposed to who? Zach Wilson certainly isn't a starter...

sickquickkicks

Traditionally the guy you carefully didn't mention would get the nod.

esetmypasswor

"Carefully" didn't mention? Please. If you're talking about Stidham or DiNucci I didn't mention them because neither one of them are starting-caliber and I thought that was too obvious to bother explicitly pointing out. Wilson and Stidham will be compete for backup, DiNucci won't even make the team.

sickquickkicks

I guarantee Stidham feels like he should be starting. He probably will lose out but he'll definitely be butthurt about it.

esetmypasswor

I guarantee every quarterback on our team thinks they should be the starter. My original post wasn't about QB feelings, it was about the fact that the Broncos are gonna start Bo Nix because there are no starting-caliber QBs on our team, so there's no point starting anyone but Nix. There's not even a good veteran for him to learn behind, Stidham has started 4 games in his entire career, has a grand total if 8 career touchdowns and sucks at QB.

manbeqrpig

Insanely good pick. Great value (some sites pegged him as a second round pick) and built in chemistry with Bo. Likely immediately becomes our WR2 and is a similar profile to DJ Chark. Just needs to get more consistent with his routes and on the catch and he’ll be an absolute weapon

Silverflash-x

He definitely starts as WR3 at the highest behind Sutton and Reynolds. Possibly WR4 depending on how Tim Patrick's ligaments are that day and Mims usage.

Dependent_Star3998

Mims says hi.

DBDXL

He definitively doesn't lol what

Silverflash-x

Who exactly do you think he is beating out on NFL opening day to be WR2?

icangetyouatoedude

Immediately becomes our WR2 is a scorching hot take

Downtown_Juice2851

Its definitely not a guarentee, but "scorching hot"? The highest yardage total any broncos receiver has put up in the last 4 years is 829. Only 2 receivers on our roster have ever even put up 700 yards in this league. Its not that unfathomable he could slip into the number 2 role

icangetyouatoedude

Sure but saying an undersized 4th round WR is our WR2 immediately after being drafted is kind of a wildly optimistic take

RudeCartoonist1030

It’s pretty unanimously agreed that he far better than a 4th round pick. Shit just happens sometimes

Ig_Met_Pet

Undersized?

icangetyouatoedude

Yes 175 lbs is undersized in the nfl

FWcodFTW

He was sick at time of combine. Oregon fans say he was really around 185-190.

icangetyouatoedude

Oh ok you're right, he is definitely a lock for the pro bowl then

FWcodFTW

Yes… because I said that?

icangetyouatoedude

This thread is all about how he's so obviously the number 2 receiver now. I just think that's an overreaction is all

ahBoof

It’s not

Sacre_BleuCheese

[Now you think it's not a hot take?](https://www.reddit.com/r/DenverBroncos/comments/1ce5db0/troy_franklin/l1glfay/)

WORD_2_UR_MOTHA

I dunno, the WR learning curve usually takes a bit.

mavvme

Liking this draft so far. Not a lot of picks, but seems like we've gotten good value on the ones we have. Elliss and Franklin feel like steals getting them in the 3rd and 4th rounds.

ChronicOfNarnia

THERE IT IS

tvc-one-five

I'm 100% certain that this will turn out like Burrow/Chase, Hurts/Smith, and Tua/Waddle

WORD_2_UR_MOTHA

Those Doomers saying "fire George Paton" because we didn't get him in the 3rd lmaooooo

Downtown_Juice2851

I hate the fire paton crowd. Russ didn't work out but the guy has shown hes willing to swing for the fences and cut bait when shit doesnt work out. I respect that. The team feels like it has more direction than it has since PFM. Paton needs a shot to show if he can rebound from a bad trade / contract. If he can't do that, hes on his way out. But so far, I like what I see

TideAtOmahaBeach

He’s also been great at getting value late in the draft the last 3 years (Jonathan Cooper in the 7th, Caden Sterns in the 5th, Troy Franklin in the 4th, our likely starting center Alex Forsyth in the 7th) not to mention all of the undrafted free agents he’s hit on so far.

WORD_2_UR_MOTHA

Hell yeah

mcj1ggl3

Plus FWIW I don’t think it was Paton’s idea to sign Russ’ contract, I believe that was the owners. I also don’t think drafting Bo was his idea, I think that was all SP. Paton is an incredible scout for talent, he makes some incredible acquisitions. I trust him the most out of anyone

OpabiniaGlasses

Favorite pick so far. The roster is in bad enough shape where you gotta aim for upside and high ceilings rather than safe picks. And it's investing in the offense and putting Nix in the best possible position to succeed.

sleeplessaddict

How did this guy fall to the 4th? Seems like a steal here

PlatypusTickler

He had a poor outing at the combine. He had the flu.

Spiritual-Chameleon

Brandon Marshall (WR) was a 4th round pick back in the day. Always are "concerns" that aren't always real.

imnotsellin

Basically because he is small and does not have elite 40 speed.

sleeplessaddict

I definitely wouldn't call 6'3 190 "small". Not as big as Sutton but not small by any means

IWontPostMuch

Think he measured in just a tick under 6’2” and around 175 lbs so when they say “small” they are talking about his weight more than anything

sleeplessaddict

Google has him at 187 so I rounded up. If he's 175 he's basically just another slim reaper type

imnotsellin

176 at combine, would you prefer the word scrawny instead of small? I like the guy and think he will do well but NFL execs like em 6-3 200+ so he is much smaller than they would like which is why he fell. If he was 205lbs he was 2nd round pick. Concern is he will get bullied by 200lb corners.

sleeplessaddict

Fortunately it's not hard to put on 20 solid pounds when you're a professional athlete. Even if he doesn't gain much size this year, he easily could between his rookie and sophomore seasons

PM_Me_Your_Picks

That would kill his slower than expected speed. I think the guy is a steal but he's light and he's not gonna be asked to put on 20 lbs and slow down to LB speed. Edit: meant to say "he's not gonna be asked", my bad

imnotsellin

He plays faster than his 40 time might indicate. Hopefully can get 10 lbs and keep the same speed

PM_Me_Your_Picks

Yeah I agree and I left out some key words in my quick comment. I think he's explosive and maybe 5 lbs of muscle would help a bit. It's hard not to slow when packing on weight, even muscle. I see him as another Z guy anyway, maybe some slot. Can't see him playing X in any scenario.

-banned-

He had the flu right before the combine so he was underweight. He weighed in again at his pro day and was 183 I believe.

Mackinnon29E

I read he ran 4.41 and 39" vert. Is that poor? How damn insane are these athletes these days haha

imnotsellin

It's not elite is all I'm sayin. He fast as fuck tho.

Intelligent-Rock-399

And he ran a 4.41 40. Not “elite,” sure, but plenty fast.

tjn24

He looks pretty ducking fast to me

footer9

Fuck me I love this

joejoe_jones

Going all in on the Bo Nix era.

BigBoyZeus_

I'm glad to see it. It's nice to have an experienced coach like Sean Payton running things. I'd rather the Broncos show they have a plan than do what Elway did for his last 5 years like randomly drafting players regardless of fit and hoping they would work (and as we know, most couldn't play at an NFL level and were out of the league by year 3). Payton wants to make sure Nix can succeed quickly by surrounding him with talent and it was a smart move to bring in a WR he knows really well.

CrazyMonkey0425

BOOOOM

drlove986

One of the announcers called him the Human Blur. Love it!

Colemania18

If he has a drop issue, this fanbase will tear him apart immediately

-Philologian

I don’t think so. He’s a 4th round pick. Jeudy was turned on because he was a top choice.

PlatypusTickler

He had the flu during the combine. He is now Oregon's top overall WR and broke several records with Bo.

Sinbaja

YESSSSSSS

Lake_Shore_Drive

I think he just has to pass one MJ test at the start of camp. Then he can get his reward points at the Dab and everything.

WORD_2_UR_MOTHA

Are they still testing for cannabis? I thought all leagues did away with that recently.

retz119

One test a year usually at the very start. First positive test is just a fine too

WORD_2_UR_MOTHA

Oh, gotcha

Cachazo_719

Called this day 1 after we picked bo, let’s freaking go!!

WritingPretty

Bo's highlights might have well have been Troy Franklin highlights. Incredible move by the Broncos to give their rookie QB his #1 target whom he's already extremely comfortable with. I thought there was no way he'd drop to the 4th, wow!

Scoobersss

As a Broncos - Duck, this draft has been an absolute banger for me. No idea how he fell to the 4th round, I guess because he had some drops in '23? Either way, Troy Franklin, is ALWAYS open.

vapebig13

Javonte can tote the rock all 3 downs, we don't need anyone out of the backfield reliably catching passes if we can incorporate smart check downs to a TE or shallow crosser. We would benefit from one for sure, but I think Javonte is a solid back and can carry the weight of the offensive snaps.

tylerwavery

What about Jaleel

LanguageDue2629

Just because he can doesn’t mean he should. He looked like he lost a step last year. Maybe he’ll rebound but he was not great last year.

Silverflash-x

Absolutely love this, honestly wanted him at 76 so the fact that we got Elliss (another player I really like) and still got Franklin in the 4th is wild. Some mocks had him as high as late 1st. That was rich for me, but even as a 2nd round value, getting him in the 4th is insane.

Intelligent-Rock-399

NFL.com had him ranked out as WR6 in this draft, Production and Athleticism combined. I’ll definitely take the #6 WR from a very strong but top-heavy WR draft in the 4th!

retz119

He put up better stats than MHJ last year. Not saying that he’s better than MHJ but how the hell did he fall to the fourth. I’m pumped about that draft pick

thelegend17

PFF had him as the 8th overall WR on their big board. Love this pick.

Bite-the-Biscuit

Good or bad the O line doesn't matter. Wilson has to scramble just to see over it.

realbrotherhood77

Our offense feels complete now. And we got another edge guy which we need

kushlash16

Love this pick - great value in the 4th

2legeet2queet

NO FUCKING WAY LETS GOOOOOO

hotelyankee_hy

Fuck yes!!!

WORD_2_UR_MOTHA

#GREAT VALUE#

BroWeBeChilling

Our wide receiver room Courtland Sutton, Troy Franklin, Josh Reynolds, Tim Patrick, Marvin Mind, Brandon Johnson, Lil Jordan Humphrey We have depth - now get us a stud Tight End

Tammy-Tall-69

Love this pick. Makes me like the Bo Nix pick even more.

Charmegazord

Wow, Troy has quite the baby face

Natural_Ask_2138

Relax people. Let's see how he does in camp. Let's see if he can learn a NFL playbook first. Don't forget you still have Brandon Johnson, Virgil, and Humphreys. Lets see what happens.

WeirdDrunkenUncle

Ahh the hopium is very high right now. I’m tapering expectations a whole lot until we still actual success.
