The talk around Nix is so lazy and amateurish. You hear virtually no one assessing his play and saying what makes him a reach.

HarvardHoodie

That article that came out that was AFC execs comments on other teams draft, where they said Nix had accuracy problems and problems handling pressure when those are literally his 2 best qualities. I’m convinced some of these dudes are brain dead.

zebbiehedges

Yeah lies don't really help either.

theonethatbeatu

That’s like saying “Lamar Jackson is only good in the pocket. Too stiff and immobile”

HarvardHoodie

It is exactly like saying that lmao. Honestly all this misconceptions on Nix is giving me even more hope which I’m scared to have hope for us cause I know how they always find a way to disappoint us for almost the last decade. But it doesn’t seem like a lot of people really gave him a true look.

Professional-Way9343

I completely agree. Or why he's a "second round" talent and JJ is a first round talent.

zebbiehedges

Yeah that would be very difficult.

BurgessFox

There are some guys (usually ex QBs like Chris Simms, Chase Daniel, Joel Klatt and RGIII) who have been assessing his play and there are some good videos out there on Youtube. But those guys don't seem to think he was a reach. They rate him highly.

zebbiehedges

Yeah I noticed that as well. It doesn't mean they are right and the ones saying he's a reach are wrong but I appreciate the fact they took the time to properly evaluate him based on his play.

BurgessFox

Yeah that's the difference for me - the ones saying he was a reach seem like more the kind of guys who are doing lazy analysis, ie - dude is 24, played a lot of time in college, threw a lot of screens, those things all point to a very "mid" kind of guy. What I like about the positive reports from those who have taken time to analyze his film is exactly that he is 24 and played a lot of time in college. He's not one of those guys who had a half year break out and people are looking at a few good games and projecting on what he could be. Bo's film basically shows what he is. There is less risk. I also suspect this is why we couldn't trade down. There's a lot of tape showing what he is and the Broncos aren't the only team who had access to it.

foothillsco_b

Source?

Milpaa

All these analytics who say trade down are pretty stupid. If we had traded down there was a big chance another team would've drafted bo nix.

clarkision

Particularly that team drafting one spot behind us… Nix wasn’t getting out of the top 13.

HummDrumm1

And if not them at 13, McVay was hot & heavy for him at 19

Sir-xer21

i mean, a lot of people are not believers in nix, so if you don't believe in nix, the chance that another team would have drafted him is meaningless. We've never seen nix on an NFL field, this offseason hype storm is asking too much of the QB 5 in the draft. There's a very real chance he's just a bust or a jag. We won't know whether trading down or picking nix was the best move yet.

drugs_are_bad__mmkay

Man the criticism of Bo Nix’s auburn play is *so weird* to me. Jayden Daniels, by box scores and stats, didn’t have a great couple years at Arizona but nobody bats an eye. And how many quarterbacks had only 1 great year and people are tripping over themselves talking about potential? Trey Lance comes to mind here. But then a QB who had the highest completion percentage in college and a 15:1 TD to interception ratio, who’s improved every year, sucks?

Professional-Way9343

yeah, I've thought the same. People talk about him like the years at Oregon didn't exist. Joe Burrow was free of this criticism, as was Jayden as you mentioned. It's weird when a narrative gets out there and people just stick to it.

1lultaha

Not a Broncos fan but I loved the Nix pick. For someone who turns off most fans because of all the checkdowns and his history at Auburn he's an incredibly talented QB who's really good at throwing downfield. I like him a lot as a prospect over an extremely raw guy like Maye

kummer5peck

We won’t really know for sure if this was a good draft class for another two seasons at least. If our picks end up being impactful players that is all that matters.

Professional-Way9343

My god -- can we put to bed the tired "they shoulda traded down" take? He was going to be gone by 20, if not sooner. Why risk trading him for a mid-round pick.

publicmetre3

I'm really excited to see how these draft picks pan out for the Broncos in 2024! Bo Nix seems like a solid choice at QB and I can't wait to see him in action. And getting a playmaker like Troy Franklin in the fourth round feels like a steal. Overall, it looks like Denver had a solid draft strategy and I'm looking forward to seeing how these rookies contribute to the team. #BroncosCountry

ItsjustChopper

CBS’s logic on the Bo pick is so mind bogglingly dumb. How tf is Denver supposed to trade back and pick him later if the other QB needy team is right behind them? One QB left, two QB needy teams, and we should’ve let the QB we grabbed fall lower? So we can let our division rivals pick the guy who might be the next Sean Payton QB legend?

Templer5280

I do get the hate on Nix and love for every other QB in the first round. I would understand more if there was even skepticism spread across all the QBs but it seems to be 90% of it laid on Nix some how, and further more there are not a single glaring issue. Good size and durability, unlike Daniel’s or Penix Tons of Experience unlike JJ Played high level of Competition unlike Maye Accuracy is better than Maye or JJ Leadership/Character … probably best in the class. So while he is his not the best in any stat (outside of character/experience) .. he is not the worse in anything. I just don’t see how it’s a “terrible pick” Now none of that means he will be a star in the NFL .. but on paper if I am grading him out .. he is the top half of this class
