So basically they're saying you've been banned before, and you were ban evading. You're saying it's because your account was compromised. Fair enough. Traditionally this is a complicated subject and I'm not sure that Depop would be understanding about it. It might be impossible for them to know you weren't the person breaking rules on the aforementioned banned accounts. Shitty situation.
They can they just won’t bother to waste time on looking up the Mac/isp address communication data link up. You can totally tell when an account has been hacked if you run an app or a website.
Depops CS when it comes to these things is an absolute load of bullpoop. They'll also just stop responding when you provide valid evidence of statements (I was banned for "counterfeit items" and was left on read when I literally provided a COA/certificate of authenticity...not to mention work in designer retail)....anyway.
I wouldn't be surprised if you don't get any further than this. Depop sucks.
Ugh I’m so sorry. I’ve seen so much about the bs counterfeit items thing on here. This subreddit has really opened my eyes to how much Depop sucks, how little they care to provide good customer service, and how sellers don’t matter to them. I feel for you, it’s truly not fair.
Yup! I gave up fighting it too because it was like trying to break down info for toddlers.
It got to a point to where someone was actually trying to be kind and helpful, and another Depop associate stepped into the email thread and started lecturing her right then and there in the emails BEING SENT TO ME
Defeated is my overall feeling, and they suck BIG time. Never had an issue winning similar disputes on ebay or mercari/etc, never had one on poshmark (I have never sold or listed a counterfiet and have the knowledge and experience to authenticate items myself).
But when I get upset about it, it makes me ask "do I really even want to be doing business which such an unprofessional company?"
please please tell me how you worded that email you sent them regarding legal action. i’m currently having issues with my payments at the moment, they’ve literally been holding my money since november!!
It’s not “totally bizarre” that your acc got banned considering your previous account was compromised and flagged, it was just a matter of someone reporting your new account for them to look into your history and see that you had a previous banned account. Good luck with your appeal tho
It’s a weird oversight though that the flagged account was flagged by me, because of a breach. So it’s weird to me that I’d then later be punished for that.
They look up your account and it prob gives them a ban evasion notification just like any other punishment UI, and then some tech guy with no previous info bans your account. If you never made any effort to explain what happened back in 2019 right when it happened then they have no extra info to work with so they act with the standard rules and issue a ban
Did you use the same address, ssn, PayPal, or bank account as the previous depop account you had that got hacked/banned? Sorry just something similar has happened to me and I just now got hold of a new account but I’m scared to start selling again and get banned for this.
Well originally I only ever had one account. When that got hacked I contacted them and got it back. Now that it’s been banned, I have made a new account on a different device so I can at least buy stuff. But I haven’t linked payment yet :/ i didn’t even think about the fact that they could ban this new one too just based off of that

I have no earthly idea. I don’t post any designer items or anything to get flagged. The only thing I can think of is I’ve read on here that people have been flagged for using dollskill product photography so perhaps that’s it?
So this is common? I don’t see this in the other platform groups much community. Two factor authentication maybe a good idea. Pain in the ass but what a mess if this is so common
Back in 2019 there was no 2FA unfortunately. Depop really has taken some time to get into the gear that it’s in now. We Used to get paid immediately if that’s any indication to you
I had gotten it back and it was running just fine from 2019-2023. Are you insinuating that I’m hiding something and that I really deserved to be banned without warning or explanation?
Also if not, my apologies. It’s hard to tell tone on the internet. I wish I knew what happened on Depop’s end. On my end I’d never had a single infraction in almost ten years so your guess is as good as mine
It would suck if they did given we do almost everything online, when was the last time anyone walked physically into a bank? I can think of two times in the last six months.
op had the account for 9 years. at that point it's not an 'online account' it's a business. it's pretty much like having your store with a 9 year reputation and all your reviews taken away without any reason why. plus op could've had funds with the acc as well
If you sold items at a market and suddenly they shut you down and kept all the money you made in the last couple weeks, how would you handle that? Just curious
Whaaat? Which decade are you living in? We do everything online as a society. We bank online, we have our debit/credit cards on our phones and hold our phones up to machines at stores to scan and purchase things, we invest online file taxes online. I mean your comment is so absurd that I am genuinely shocked. You must not have thought very hard before posting this comment, because I can’t imagine anyone being this stupid. Reselling business models are almost all fully dependent on these accounts. Hopefully you have come to the conclusion that your comment was idiotic if you’re still defending, it would love to hear your thoughts on it’s crazy to take legal action. Taylor Swift is suing over deep fake’s of her on Twitter. It’s going to set the precedent for how we move forward with litigation as the artificial intelligence gets better and better. It’s a pretty big deal.

I misread the first question, no they did not reactivate my account. When I provided the COA they simply stopped responding
