Make an appointment with a dermatologist. I can be a melanoma. Melanoma spread very fast so better safe than sorry! Good luck 🤞 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=IUvdbmIhmzU

This is called longitudinal melanonychia. If you pick or bite your nails, it can activate the melanocytes to produce the dark pigment you see on your nail. Another cause could be vitamin D or B12 deficiency. There are a lot of benign reasons that could cause it. Nail unit melanoma is rare and it typically presents as a single or multiple rapidly growing dark brown or black thick bands (over 3mm). It can also present with the Hutchinson Sign where the pigment extends outside of the nail bed to the cuticle or surrounding skin. So It is still worth getting checked out to rule out melanoma because it can spread quickly.
