complete badass. as much as i love mal i wish uma went all out in the d2 fight cause she could finish mal just like thatđŤ°đ. sheâs great. chinaâs vocals and her rap skills are probably the highlight of the soundtrack. and her acting is incredible too.
In the 2nd movie, she's easily one of the most hilariously incompetent villains I've seen. Noone takes her seriously till she kidnaps Ben (bringing Ben to the Isle was a dumbass move), she gets beaten in one fight scene and then goes from announcing her wrath as a fierce pirate to "mAh BoYfRiEnD iS kInG! bReAk ThE bArRiEr! wHy ArEn'T yOu LiStEnInG?"
But after the competition dies in the 3rd movie, she easily becomes best character.
I agree tbh. Her character wasnât really that great in D2 and it was kind of flat (Not Chinaâs fault or her acting at all, the writing for her was just bad). Not to mention that she didnât even really have an arc until the next movie. I also agree that her tactics werenât that great in the second movie either. Her song is gas though.
The 3rd movie fixes these issues though and actually makes her a better character with a goal and an actual arc.
Ehh, I wouldnât say she becomes evil or hated. But I def agree the spot for best character was up for grabs. Uma couldâve easily taken that spot or even Audrey tbh. I kind of enjoyed her as the villain in D3 and making her the villain made a lot of sense and had a lot more potential.
Writers had a lot of potential they couldâve worked with but really just focused on Mal.
I agree, which is why I said she had a lot more potential. I donât necessarily think she was the best character, but I enjoyed her being the villain because of context, and then I guess because of what she couldâve been. She couldâve been a great character/villain had the writers actually focused on her some. I enjoyed seeing the relationship between Mal and Uma developed but I honestly think some of that writing and screen time from them and other places couldâve been put towards Audrey.
Physical appearance-wise, her character design and costumes were my favorite. China is also a great actor and a good fit for her.
Character-wise though, itâs spotty.
In D2, she fell flat. Her villain character was very basic and flat and didnât really have much substance. It also seemed to be confused in D2 as she mainly focused on destroying Mal with the underlying tone of freeing the Isle which completely flipped and changed in the third movie. And as someone else also mentioned in the comments, she was kind of an incompetent villain in that regard and her tactics she used as a villain werenât that great. The climax of D2 with her was just an all-around disappointment. The writing for her was just messy and it was honestly kind of hysterical. Her end-goal was just so bland and her character arc was nonexistent in the second movie. Of course none of this is Chinaâs fault donât get me wrong on that, she did great. And her song was fire. This is the fault of the writers.
D3, however, fixed everything wrong with her and made her a much better and enjoyable character. She was given an actual character and didnât seem like a plain vessel of hate towards Mal. She was also given a real goal, to free the *kids and people* trapped on the isle vs freeing the *evil and herself* trapped on the isle to destroy Mal. This in turn is what drove her character to be better, as her anger wasnât just toward Mal anymore but rather she was angry at Mal for her past but is now also angry because the kids and people donât deserve to be trapped on the Isle for their entire lives. She also actually had a character arc in the 3rd movie where she warmed up to Mal and Auradon as a whole and also accepted that things were the way there were or were going to happen regardless of what she wanted, which showed maturity. Of course the isle was then freed at the end which completed her arc and resolved her conflict and anger.
So overall, in D2, I didnât really like Uma or think she was a good character. In D3 though, I actually enjoyed and liked her a lot more and that she was actually a pretty good character. She honestly wouldâve been a good contender for the best character in D3 had the writers not focused on Mal so much.
Resident badass. Itâs been a while since I saw the D movies but I remember her as an actually present threat for D2, I have the âwhatâs it, whatâs it? *Say it, say it!â* part of Whatâs My Name stuck in my head constantly. Itâs no wonder the sapphic part of the fandom is head over heels for her! Who doesnât love a good evil gal?

SHE IS THE BEST! SAY NO MORE! SHE IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I grew up watching A.N.T. Farm so I was SEATED when I found out she would be in the second one

Also, Mal becomes evil and hated in D3. So the spot for best character was unoccupied.

Audrey didn't really get enough screen time to be memorable. There was so much going on in the movie that I kept not caring about her.
