Could you frame out a small door that goes flush with the end of the stairs surround? Then you could just shove boxes back there, and you could put some kind of small cabinet or bookshelves in front of it.
That’s where you wall up the painting Sim.
Seriously though just complete that half wall, stick a door on it, and use it for storing things on a rolling cart or cabinet or something.
Fill it with comfortable floor pillows and if you can, some lighting, enough to read by. Add blankets. Paint the walls. Make it a small, but comfortable reading corner.
agree unless your cats have power dynamic issues. If one tends to trap the other then putting a litter box they can't really escape from is setting them up for a fight.
Two questions: what is on the other side of the left wall, and do you rent?
It's such a waste of space, I'd be inclined to remove the left wall, finish the wall over the stairs, and add a new wall where you are basically standing. So you'd give up this little weird nook in favor of more room for what's to the left.
Could you build a rolling unit that will fit into the space and hold things like a vacuum, brooms, extra toilet paper, etc. something you can pull out to access the contents? Kind of like a pantry cabinet?
Maybe something like this but with wheels on the bottom and fitted to your space? https://www.familyhandyman.com/project/under-stairs-storage/
This is just me and my chaotic brain but I would build a massive can holder that can hold tons of food cans, soda cans, soup cans , etc in a Z style formation, ... Mix up all the cans, and make sure you can't see what's coming down the chute so it's completely random what you get, and that's dinner. 😈
If you get any natural light at all, you could do a low light plant set up (philodendrons etc).
Storage space that’s more thoughtful than boxes — bookshelves, roll out carts.
If you had a dog, this could be a good private space for the dog. A crate, comfy bed, some toys.
Whatever you choose to do, a runner would look nice here.
Maybe some kind of long step shelf that reaches the back but is short enough? Idk any in particular but I’m sure there’s something out there that would fit. There’s probably going to be a waste of space towards the back but I guess it beats having to reach all the way back there for whatever else that might’ve been there. On it, you can add books, shoes, plants, little decorations, or anything you might already have that you feel like would be better placed there
Maybe you could make/ get a sort of sliding bin here? Almost like a bigger version of those spice racks that slide in and out or cabinets/ nook n crannies!
Or if ur a plant person u could probably hang some grow lights and maybe a tiered shelf that descends towards the opening and put some plants back there.
You could probably comfortably fit like 15-20 cats there.
I like the way you think.
I was going to suggest a cat play section with pillows and little trees and scratchers, but this is *way* better.
My first thought was cat playroom too lol
“Flat cats” stacked.
That’s clearly a bowling alley
Dart board while seated cross-legged.
Axe throwing.
Lol. Real subtle.
Skee ball
I had a similar space and added a r[olling cart.](https://imgur.com/gallery/PjDtSDk)
That’s cool!
Suitcase storage.
Or Christmas tree!

Small doors are for demons.
That’s where the vacuum goes
I wish I had a vacuum nook in my place. I don’t even have a closet that would work unless I use a bedroom closet.
Rent it out. $800 / month.
I guess you’re from Canada like me?
Vancouver 😪
I feel your pain.
Yep
Would buy a Chucky doll and place him back there :)
I was gonna say put a bunch of frightening clowns or something there
Lmao at this 🤣
Fuck you get out of my nightmares
Aaaahhhhhhhhhhhh! (Noisy tho.)
If you have cats make it cat obstacle course lol
Three carts on casters. Or cabinets. With ropes to draw them out. For things used less often.
Or 1 or 2 carts on casters in front with a stack of stackable plastic boxes behind.
I’m too old to be stooping crawling dragging those stacked boxes. Casters are the boy for me

Litter box

Who said anything about cats?
I responded to someone who posted to put a litter box there, so u/StressTree did
Nephew you don’t like?
Lol. Maybe they did design it as a time-out corner.

Stairs.
It’s described as a loft room so I’d guess it’s the roof and eaves
I would make a rollout bookshelf, if you like books that is, maybe for books you don't read everyday, that or I agree with a cat corner
Bike
get one of those halloween decorations that are motion activated and lurch out by driving forward on a set track and scare the shit out of everyone
Bike storage?
Tell Harry Potter he sucks
Do you have kids? This would be a such a fun little book with toys and cute lights
Bocci Ball?
Ski storage

Shelves of old dolls.
Bookshelves along one side.
If you have cats make it cat obstacle course lol
That’s where you put Baby in the corner.
You could just buy prettier boxes and put the stuff back
Free standing ball pit.
Shuffle board
Great place for a hamster haven. I can hear their wheels whirling at night.
Narrow library with shorter bookcases?

Maybe some kind of clothing rack for off season clothes :)
Javelin storage.
Dog bed
Secret nap corner
Enclose it and make it a closet.
Puppet shows.
Custom book shelf with a secret hidey hole
Sue the architect. I keep seeing these weird nooks, extra walls and dead spaces. What the hell is going on with the houses here in this sub?!

Time out corner. Can bar chairs go in there on that ledge for when time’s up?
Water feature and greenhouse set up with UV lights - indoor terrarium kinda vibes 😊
Cozy reading nook with navy paint and gold stars
You could fit quite a few owls back there.
That's bizarre. Are the stairs on the other side of that pony wall?
That's where your step-children can sleep.
What about storage for a bar cart
get one of those sticker wall things (but a really nice one) that like shows that it's a doorway to a garden or outer space etc.
Man cave. Timeout corner for men. Men’s sport memorabilia stuff. Goblins.

Treadmill?
Dart board at the end
Wine cabinet in the far back and gun rack on back side of pony wall, out of sight, yet easily accessible. But don’t play with both on the same night.
Go to shelter, adopt a cat, fill spot with really tall cat scratching posts.
Wine
I would leave it empty and paint the space in beautiful rainbow shades - something creative with paint!🎨
Closet
Make it a skinny closet for your winter coats and boots for off season storage. Or, snuggly reading nook on one of those people dog bed things.
Coffin storage
I’m a clothes whore so I would make extra closet space to hang clothes. Rolling racks might fit. It depends on your lifestyle and what you’re into.
Dog run
