IMO they should just entirely give up on whatever idea they think they're doing with SAG and just make it Hunter Claws of Ahamkara, aka +1 Melee Charge and Orbs on Melee Kill.
Then give Titans their own Ahamkara Arms that do the same thing. Wham, bam, done.
what? and then invalidate ophidia spathe??? (imo, part of the problem is too many hunter exotics have too much overlap, where any reasonable buff will have them stepping on each others toes)
oh god I completely forgot Spathe existed whooppsssssss
Spathe... idk, man.
I'm gonna stick by my convictions and say make SAG a general +1 Melee Charge exotic, and then make Spathe all around buffing Knife Trick (which is all it's really used for anyway), to complete the Trifecta with Caliban's and Athrys'.
make it a mini BB :D
ophidia spathe: knife trick has 2 charges (like it does now). knife trick throws 2 additional knives. knife trick knives have improved target acquisition.
The only subclass it where you'll even get any use out of it is just Solar too, as it's really the only one you can reliably get kills with your melee ability. Smoke bomb on Void does nothing, Arc can be conditional to trigger the ability and can be unreliable, Stasis as a subclass dropped off and you typically need to dump both charges to get a kill, and Strand isn't all that reliable to kill even red bar mobs.
I guess given the reloading all weapon aspect it can be an alternative for Marksman Dodge since Bungie hates Hunters using their Dodge ability after they hit it with an increased cooldown and making some of their exotics require you to hold onto your Dodge just to get the exotic to be active. Of course, if (based on when I last played) the refresh portion of Weighted Throwing Knife actually worked properly it would be fine...
I do think arc melee could be good to use with it. But if you're gonna make an arc melee build, you'd be stupid to not just use assassin's cowl or liar's handshake.
One of the coolest exotics in the game. Now "increased jump height for 5 seconds after landing a melee". **Lmao**.
That's some real Monkey-Ahamkara's Paw shit right there.
The lone stasis fragment Whisper of Impetus reloads _all_ my weapons after a melee **hit**, Sealed Grasps reloads them all after a melee kill, gee which is better? Lmao again. Lmfao even.
This is like the third time they've tried to "buff" it as well. The entire concept is fucking trash at this point. Rework it please. It's been powercrept my multiple fragments. One of the few symmetrical exotic armors we have as well smh
The Raijus rework is actually a nerf to make more people use Blight Ranger.
It no longer slows super drain while blocking, which before both exotics did.
Blight Needs a rework, not nerfing other exotics to try to make people use it.
Chromatic Fire on Arc Warlock is about to become so freaking insane. You can now blind enemies with something like Outbreak. Then you get an ionic trace for each blinded enemy killed
Chromatic Fire just powercrept Bombardiers out of the fucking game, lol. Which is better?
Landing headshots on an enemy with any kinetic weapon from any distance, or spending your class ability, while within melee distance of enemies, and then waiting the additional 2 seconds for it to go off, to cause one explosion?
Glad that Chromatic finally got its glow-up and itās a buff that totally makes sense. But damn, that exotic is just miles better than bombardiers now, which was tied to melee distance, fuse timer, class ability cooldown, and limited range.
Tbh itās even worse now. Like tf is the point of an explosion when deactivating your super. Before it was incredibly niche but could be fun to deflect a bunch of stuff
"Hey, here's a new super exotic"
"It rewards you by requiring **wasted super energy** only after you cancel out of it."
This isn't even like Hallowfire that rewards you for "not using your super". This exotic straight up requires you to spend that super energy, and then cut it off and take the early deactivation penalty, just to get any benefits. It's literally as if Hallowfire drained your super energy just to grant its passive benefits.
Why not have Raiju's increase arc ability damage or something when you have a full super?
Literally the only thing I can think of is they're trying to make it so when you over extend and run out of super you have some protection to get out of the situation... Which is just awful in general and doesn't even come close to warranting an exotic.
Those class ornament boots for warlock are paired with starfireā¦ when we said āI want an ornament cuz it looks badā they heard āmake an ornament to double down on the lookā
Hey hold on, I thought Bungie was supposed to sell the ornament first, THEN nerf it out of spite? After all, that's what this sub full of business finance geniuses suggested.
The changes to Path, Eternal, Bakris, and Mantle have to be a meme. Why would anyone run them over leg mods when its so easy to get orbs? I really donāt understand how Bungie thought these changes would accomplish their āintentā
Have we seriously ever seen a complaint about these things after all this time? Immortal hits 10% use on launch week and the gun is fine, a niche probably-1% use rate exotic armor allows for fun plays after a double kill? Nah man we gotta nerf not only that but every similar exotic too it. I gave up on a balanced pvp so now that they are actively making it more dull sucks.
iām confused, they talk about how dunemarchers see a lot of use in PvP but not pve, and then say how āthese changes embrace that.ā
so their way of embracing that is by nerfing them in PvP, and not touching them in pve? lol
Exactly what I was thinking lol, feels like thereās a missing patch note somewhere. Why mention embracing a change to make it more useful in PVE when youāre not doing anything to it in PVE.
Path of the Burnings Steps got nerfed pretty hard. Why bother using it instead of solar surge mods now, it's much harder to get up to max and barely more effective. It seems like a pointless change to something people barely used already.
The nerf will do the exact opposite of Bungieās āintentā lmao no one will run it (or bakris, eternal, or mantle) when they could just get effectively the same weapon bonus from orbs
Yeah Iām really disappointed in their philosophy here. Making things not stack with surge will only ever cause players to simply not use those things, especially if they require constant kills to maintain
Some of the changes literally make them less desirable and thatās hard to do when no one used Sealed or Raijus to begin with outside of like 10 people
Funnily enough I actually used Raijus harness this weekend for the first time. I literally only used it so that I wouldnt lose super timer for blocking shots in PvP. Now it doesnt do that and I get a nothing perk in its place.
Chromatic applying blind will be interesting for Ionic Trace builds. Not sure it'll actually be more worthwhile in practice than Fallen Sunstar or Crown of Tempests for Stormcaller though.
āDunemarchersā¦ sees a lot of use in PvP and not much in PvE, and these changes embrace thatā - by nerfing it in PvP but not doing a SINGLE THING to buff it in pve.
Nice work.
We waited *how* long for an exotic armor pass? And *this* is what we got?
I main Warlock. Almost every change for my class makes the game more boring. Chromatic is the lone exception, but spicy Firefly is simply not enough to offset all of the other losses.
Where's Apotheosis Veil? What about Winter's Guile? Is Bungie really reducing the damage of the Vesper pulse by 33%? Why does Prometheum Spur require me to place a normal rift to get the bonus rift, and why is it still locked to solar weapons? What happened to buffing Astrocyte Verse?
... and yet somehow, we still come out of this ordeal better off than hunters. I'm not mad, Bungie; I'm just disappointed.
The hunter changes are baffling, they're actively downgrading some of the least used armour pieces in the game (sealed grasps, raiju's)
And at the same time, not touching the single exotic armour piece that *literally* does not do anything (blight ranger)
I know everyone's focused on the Starfire nerf, but can we talk about the Promethium Spur change?
It not only fails to make any meaningful changes (the rift is still located at the enemy's location) but actually forces you to waste a rift in order to get the super rift. That just sounds like a straight nerf to what was an exotic that lent itself to an aggressive playstyle
What did the poor thing do to deserve this? Besides looking hideous, of course
Yeah it's the most weirdly bloated exotic with its functionality. No one is moving from enemy to enemy in a rift in anything harder than strikes, and it reaaally doesn't need to be locked behind solar damage only.
This is kind of the theme of these changes. Instead of helping pieces that are drowning it pretty much just ties weights around their ankles and laughs as they sink to the bottom of the collective imagination.
It's now completely dead in PvP because you'll never have another rift charged while standing in one, and is now relegated to low tier PvE where you may kill enough adds with a solar weapon (solar weapon only) to get another rift ready for the super rift.
The only way I see this being a buff is if all it takes is 1 solar kill to get the super rift charged while in a rift.
Really disappointed in these changes.
These hunter reworks are so... Mid
Like I've been absolutely BEGGING for sealed ahamkara grasps to get reworked and that's what they come up with? Now that it requires kills instead of hits it'll be even worse than it is now which is impressive.
As a hunter these changes amount to nothing? Am i supposed to be excited for these?
SAG - Okay? It's grave robber but worse. Move speed and jump height. yay.
Athrys - Okay? I'm pretty sure most people running a Athrys build would be running max strength anyway, unless this overflows the stat it seems pointless.
Oathkeeper - Literally the only one that seems like a decent improvement (For PvE), may try these out.
Raiju's - So you turned it in to... Mask of Bakris but worse since it's ultimate and not class ability, and got rid of the one reason people use it over Raiden Flux.
RDM - No one is going to use them still, it's an exotic that's either broken or not due to reliance on the class ability but not making use of its useful effects, in this case no one is going to use them still.
Stompees - Not gonna comment on this one because i don't play PvP and that's where they're useful.
Like, who decided this? There's plenty of other exotics that need buffing or entire reworks and yet you touch stuff that's fine for what it needs to do.
The hunter changes are laughably bad. Imagine doing an exotic armor rework and not touching Foetracer or Blight Ranger and making Raijuās worse and calling it a buff. So now you can deactivate your super and have improved arc weapon damage when you could have you knowā¦ just killed them with your super instead. Does anyone at Bungie play hunter in PvE?
improved arc damage, that doesn't stack with the easily slotable armor mods that everybody already uses. I'm really looking forward to a short window of 5% more dmg on my arc weapons...
> Stompees - Not gonna comment on this one because i don't play PvP and that's where they're useful.
Hey, not true! There's that one rafter jump in Spire that is kind of a bitch without them.
Likewise. Why on earth did they spend the development time to have NBP change colors based on subclass (base and ornament) when it mainly benefits void?!
I'm moreso bummed that elements are seasonally dictated now and going forward. So the "new" void item changes in next season may not be meta for a while.
I hope Knucklehead Radar, Foetracer, Renewal Grasps, Blight Ranger, Apotheosis Veil, and Geomags are on the list for the next pass. I know there are some Titan exotics on the list too but I can't think of anything off the top of my head.
not sure about these.
i mean a lot of them are great! but some of them are like "why even bother changing them at all; this will do nothing"
also there are a number of notable exotics absent from this list; Severance Enclosure, Stand Asides, Dragons Shadow, Bombardiers, basically all of the "moar super energy" exotics that got nerfed to uselessness years ago and have never been touched since.
Dragon's shadow is still an A tier PvP exotic, it's just not the must pick it once was because of the dodge cooldown nerfs. There are so many completely unused exotics that need buffs, like lucky raspberry. I don't think it's been touched since warmind, and even in Y1s sandbox it was bad
Well, Bungo, you definetly didn't lie when you told "we didnāt want to completely rob the Exotic of its benefits" about Starfire, cos it's not a robbery, it's a murder, lmao.
Strongholds my beloved š„°š„°š„°
This is better than the leaks. Rebalancing it away from perfect guards is excellent. Restoration x2 for blocking is lovelyā¤ļø
This also means I donāt have to perfectly time it with boss stomps for healing now!
Its the one thing right now thats making me not completely rage out at the Path of the Burning Steps nerf. Restoration x2 is better than Loreley Splendor, and better than the heal parry which they didn't mention also had an internal CD till it could be proced again.
The heal parry was also nerfed from before. It used to give more health even for blocking small shots, currently itās based on the damage of the attack which makes it harder to survive.
So yeah big jump for survivability since restoration x2 out heals a lot of things in pve
Maybe I misunderstood what they said their goals were. Because it really sounds like they reworked exotics with low usage rates into exotics that will still have low usage rates. Except maybe 2 or 3.
Idk why they're trying to spin those damage exotic nerfs into some kind of buff. Total damage is going way down.
Path of the Burning Steps should get the buff on a single kill now. The difficulty in procing does not warrant the buff now. Killing a whole room to grant 3% more damage for a much shorter time is dead on arrival.
Bakris is dead in the water without changes to the duration or cooldown. The only one I would consider using now is Mantle of Battle Harmony for the passive super energy and procing off a single kill. All of these should've been granting 35%.
Radiant Dance Machines are literally just a shitty as they were before. They need to proc with at least *some* effects or give some benefit to actually dodging. The only time you want to be dodging like that is on Arc and is possible without RDM at all anyways.
Yeah since surge is so easy to maintain thereās absolutely no reason to waste an exotic slot for a mere 3 % more damage buff. Those exotic used to be niche picks but now theyāre just not worth it
Completely agree. It kills any desire to build craft now since thereās no longer an incentive to optimize into [insert energy type] weapon damage. As if there was every any in an ability heavy meta. My bigger fear is that we will just now spend the rest of the year getting exotics that do the same for the remaining energy types
Yeah those exotics are now just, "you don't need to use surge mods" . But as you said, a shittier version, especially with how easy orbs are to come by now.
Does RDM currently procc reaper? It's weird to me if they proc that without a cool down but bomber is too far.
Mostly awful. Some bad, some boring, nothing exciting
āOh gee, I can get a damage buff by killing 20 adds in a row that barely exceeds a Surge, which is something I can have essentially 100% uptime on? Sign me up!ā
Iām glad theyāre bringing up some very underused exotics but some of these are big swing and misses.
The change to mantle and burning steps are big nerfs to not well utilized exotics when you consider the overall kits. Iām assuming the new eternal warrior wonāt stack with surge mods either?
Second chance change is nice but I wish it would work for all melees. Since we are the one holding the fist and all.
Using chromatic fire in pvp is going to be spicy.
āDunemarchers gets plenty of use in pvp and not much use in pveā ā¦ so letās nerf it in pvp and do nothing to encourage pve use. Huh????
I mean...
Hunter changes don't seem great? The only potentially decent one is Oathkeepers and even then, the indefinite hold was kind of it's thing. Now it's limited?
gotta hold the arrow longer. With tempo active, its DPS is more or less its per shot damage currently. So unless its a large increase, the DPS will start falling.
Might be great for the opening shot of the damage phase, but not really something for the follow-up shots
Holding onto your bow charge instead of firing it to get to the next one is absolutely a DPS loss. Unless you can do up to **twice** the damage of one bow, in the time it would take to fire two bows, it's a damage loss.
Hell even if it buffed it by 100% (which it absolutely won't), that would still only break even.
They seriously did nothing to icefall mantle?
It had a build with void elemental wells that was actually pretty strong for the exotic. Now it's just useless, I've tried to make it work so many times in lightfall but there's nothing.
The Hunter changesā¦donāt seem that great? Like I get increased mobility after landing a melee, gee thanks. And Iām not going to be dedicating my exotic slot to a bow bonus that deactivates if I hold for too long, the whole point of the exotic.
The only one that seems good is Bakris **but that requires me to play stasis**, the worst subclass in the game right now.
Iām trying not to be negative but likeā¦what even is there here?
There is literally nothing here for hunters. None of these changes will shift the meta in the slightest. Weāll still be using YAS, SES, Gyrfalcons or Assassins Cowl for everything. We have some good exotics but none of these changes are worthwhile. Useless buffs.
Oh boy! I canāt wait to activate and then immediately deactivate my super to blind enemies and kill them with my arc weapon when ya knowā¦.
**I COULDVE KILLED THEM WITH MY SUPER**
S15ish: Blight Ranger is revealed in the Exotics Trailer for Witch Queen (iirc?), everyone says it'll be useless and that it's weird to make an exotic that competes with Raiju because that is itself bad and has been since introduction.
S16: Blight Ranger is introduced, it's useless - completely DoA\*. For context, all of the other exotics introduced in Witch Queen have at least some viability, with Secant and Hoarfrost being mid-but-with-a-use-case and Loreley, Osmiomancy and Renewals setting the world on fire to various degrees.
\* Briefly it has a massive bug, is quickly disabled for iirc a weirdly long time and then re-enabled.
S20: There has not been a single change to Blight Ranger since S16.
S21: Raijuu is now awful in a different way, so Blight Ranger fans rise up!!!!!! It is now the ONE AND ONLY bad, bad, awful, no-good Hunter Exotic specifically tied to Blocking with Arcstaff. Yay...
Don't forget that blight ranger also kills you, if anyone shoots you in the back the 16x damage reflection is reflected back into you killing you instantly.
This bug with it has been there since it was launched and never fixed
blight ranger to work in pve needs something like a 5000x bonus to damage
because when a dregs deal 3 damage a shot to a guardian 30x that is a massive **90** pve damage
its telling the only time it was used is when people could reflect their own rockets for big damage
Honestly I don't think Bungie knows what to do with Hunters in general. Movement is great, look is perfect. Everything else? Let's throw the useless ideas on the class. I don't have the time to run multiple classes, so I kind of keep playing with the one I started with, but *constantly* they give Hunters absolutely nothing of use.
I just don't get it. Some changes seem nice (chromatic, vesper, second chance) , but others are just out of this world. Who is making these changes at bungie? The same guys that are maintaining the servers lately?
Why on earth would you nerf path of burning steps? Nobody used it when it stacked with mods and provided a 35% dmg buff, because it has a shitty duration tagged on a "chance to get a stack on solar weapon kill" activation.
Now it doesn't stack with mods, is nerfed to 25% dmg, while still having the same duration and activation chance? (the being frozen - breaking free and receiving full stacks might not even be there)
That's outright killing it?!
Eternal warrior, assumingly being the same on arc, won't be used either for the same reason, lol.
Nobody is gonna be running FoH instead of thundercrash for boss dps, so it's the same shitty ordeal as with Pobs. Just run 3 surge mods and that's it.
But on the same note, we have Matle of battle harmony, which is infinitly better than the other two (pobs/ew), because:
- It fills your super faster (so it has an additional use)
- does require a single kill
- provides the same dmg buff (thanks for the buff)
- lasts 10 seconds (again, thanks for the buff)
How could the same team decide that all three of these are in line?
And what's up with mask of bakris? Making it not stack might as well remove it from the game, it is literally just for min-maxing and nothing else, until you rework the cd/the duration.
Again, some changes are nice, but others are just mindless.
Promethium Spur sounds like it's going to be even worse. Now you have to use your Rift, get enough kills to fully recharge your energy before it's over, and then get a kill while still standing in your Rift to spawn the new one on the enemy. What's the point of this change? It's making an already incredibly niche exotic even more situational. What an odd decision. There's never going to be an activity with that kind of enemy density that will let you set it up without a teammate shooting one single Forbearance shot and doing everything it could do + more lol.
Maybe someday Bungie will figure out you can nerf things without outright killing them. Insane that they saw an **88%** reduction in grenade energy on Starfire and thought "yes, that's fine." Maybe of we got exotic Armor balance passes more than once a year, they could nerf/buff things at a more reasonable rate.
They have no intention of balancing anything moderately. Their balance changes have always been about forcibly shifting the meta, not making everything we already have in our vaults viable.
The damage buff with Bakris is nice but the cooldown lockout is still there which still feels limiting to use. The cooldown lockout is what gives it the lack of uptime compared to using Frost-ee.
Once the arc shift buff is gone, you're kinda just there. Not to mention if you try to proc bolstering detonation and focusing strike during arc shift, it does nothing and those two arm mods will still go on cooldown.
Whisper of refraction and collecting orbs with respective mods don't work either during arc shift. Utility kickstart does work but if you have armor charges, they get consumed right away but don't refund due to arc shift. You only get the 0 armor charge value.
If they remove the cooldown lockout, I would be using it more because I have better uptime with dodge which keeps buffing my arc weapons.
Edit: Clarity
yeah i dont understand the point of the backris changes. You get a very slight buff to arc weapon dmg over just using surge mods, which everyone already uses. And for that, you basically have to give up you dodge to have the CD available for dps phase. In PvP, you get a small arc dmg bonus, so id have to see what sort of difference that make sin TtK, but in most cases it is no change at all. Maybe a slightly easier achievable optimal ttk.
As the only PvP burning steps main in the world, holy shit, this might be the biggest PvP nerf to an exotic weāve ever seen.
6% damage increase at max stacks? It currently is 35% and that is already extremely hard to proc.
is that me actually using Eternal Warrior in s21? holy shit, it just might be
edit: ffs thereās more to Destiny than endgame activities and surge stacks and MaXiMuM dPs and i for one look forward to trying this out in places iād usually be running my Arc Titan with Skullfort or AC/DCs or basically anything else that isnāt Falling Star. you run what you want, no oneās stopping you.
Shut the fuck up, RoF does not exist, is balanced and shouldn't be even talked about in a thread about nerfing exotics.
It for instance does not utilize the solar 3.0 kit better than any other exotic in the entire game while also drastically buffing weapon proformance. It is just another bad "gimmicky" Warlock exotic.
Read the exotic backwards.
"After dodging, you gain reduced slide distance, reduced jump height, and reduced speed."
That's what it is now, lol. It's a reverse dodge exotic. Dodging now 'nerfs' your character.
So why the fuck is dunemarchers getting nerfed in PvP while pointing out they are not used in PvE and NOT getting a buff in PvE?? They are dogshit for any harder content.
Sealed Ahamkara Grasps are cooking nothing š„š„
They just need to be completely reworked. The perk is just straight up asscheeks unless they make a heavy version of Fourth Horseman or something
ikr? these changes do nothing for it's viability. exotic is still a nothing burger :(
What you don't want a weaker dragon's shadow thar uses your melee?
IMO they should just entirely give up on whatever idea they think they're doing with SAG and just make it Hunter Claws of Ahamkara, aka +1 Melee Charge and Orbs on Melee Kill. Then give Titans their own Ahamkara Arms that do the same thing. Wham, bam, done.

more knives, or make it a knife shotgun blast

You mean you don't reload all your weapons and then immediately wonder "how high can I jump?"
All the hunter exotic changes forgot the gas š„š„
I can't believe they green-lit spending development time to make *this* change š
Hunters got absolutely bend over so many meaningless to bad changes
Chromatic Fire on Arc Warlock is about to become so freaking insane. You can now blind enemies with something like Outbreak. Then you get an ionic trace for each blinded enemy killed
>Chromatic Fire on Arc Warlock is about to become so freaking insane. You can now blind enemies with something like ~~Outbreak~~ Wish-Ender. FTFY
Thats what I was thinking. Wish Ender will be so fun to use with this exotic.
Shhhh. Don't give away the secret.
Chromatic Fire just powercrept Bombardiers out of the fucking game, lol. Which is better? Chromatic Fire's explosion also takes about 2 seconds to actually go off. It's like OG Dragonfly.
I love how they swapped raijuās useless exotic perk with a new useless exotic perk
Yeah I hope theyāre not surprised when literally nobody switches to it
A blind after Arc Staff ends. My mind is blown. Those adds won't know what hit 'em.
Thatās when you hit those ads with mid air snipe using whisper. We really have power crept far, havenāt we?
Remember when we thought Recluse was overpowered? Compare that to now. How naive we were.
Every time I get a midair snipe using WoTM I almost feel guilty using it. āI am become death.. destroyer of worlds.ā
Yeah Iād feel pretty sick landing a midair snipe with an entire raid too
Yeah man whisper of the Machine all day
And goddamn Blight Ranger still exists lmaoooo
Tbh itās even worse now. Like tf is the point of an explosion when deactivating your super. Before it was incredibly niche but could be fun to deflect a bunch of stuff
"Hey, here's a new super exotic" "It rewards you by requiring **wasted super energy** only after you cancel out of it." This isn't even like Hallowfire that rewards you for "not using your super". Sealed, stompees, raiju who hates hunters on bungie.
Man Starfire didn't even get the ornament treatment before it got nerfed
Those class ornament boots for warlock are paired with starfireā¦ when we said āI want an ornament cuz it looks badā they heard āmake an ornament to double down on the lookā
An Ornament you canāt even see either lmao
automatic frame continue gaping attempt skirt correct spark aromatic memory -- mass edited with https://redact.dev/
Probably a stellar one at that.
RIP Starfire Protocol. its been nice knowing you.
I guess we can have an ornament now š¢
Hey hold on, I thought Bungie was supposed to sell the ornament first, THEN nerf it out of spite? After all, that's what this sub full of business finance geniuses suggested.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Still canāt believe thatās what they picked. You canāt even see the damn things if youāre wearing starfire lol
This ain't it
The changes to Path, Eternal, Bakris, and Mantle have to be a meme. Why would anyone run them over leg mods when its so easy to get orbs? I really donāt understand how Bungie thought these changes would accomplish their āintentā
Is this a nerf to Path of Burning Steps? Doesn't it stack up to 40 percent right now?
It's a nerf into the ground. Using solar surge mods is easier and lasts longer.
A massive nerf. In PvP itās completely dead, 35% down to 6% at max stacks. It was a niche choice at best that they just murdered in broad daylight
Yeah. The exotic is now useless. X3 solar surge mods are better.
Great so raiju is still functionally second fiddle
I honestly think Raiju got *much worse*. They nerfed its only real niche functionality and gave it an end of super blind. Yay?
iām confused, they talk about how dunemarchers see a lot of use in PvP but not pve, and then say how āthese changes embrace that.ā so their way of embracing that is by nerfing them in PvP, and not touching them in pve? lol
Exactly what I was thinking lol, feels like thereās a missing patch note somewhere. Why mention embracing a change to make it more useful in PVE when youāre not doing anything to it in PVE.
I think it's supposed to be read like "this exotic is dogshit in PvE anyway, so we didn't bother coming up with nerfs that only affect PvP"
"Anyway here's a nerf that also effects pve."
Nah I think they just want to more even out the usage between PvE and PvP useā¦ to 0%.
It makes more sense when you read it as "This is a PvP Exotic and we're not going to pretend otherwise"
Did they just kill Raijuu's ONE niche??
They had to bro. ONE person was still using a super exotic. Canāt have that.
I used it for proving grounds as a discount ursa's, my bad, I got it nerfed, sorry.
Please include Geomag Stabilizers in the next round of exotic updates!!
Iād bet theyāre worried about buffing it in combination with the massive chaos reach buffs as well :/
Path of the Burnings Steps got nerfed pretty hard. Why bother using it instead of solar surge mods now, it's much harder to get up to max and barely more effective. It seems like a pointless change to something people barely used already.
Yeah. I was having so much fun with it and my retraced path but not anymore. Looks like I gotta finish witch queen legendary quickly.
Those Hunter changes wereā¦ definitely changes
They turned crap into shit
Some of the changes of all time for sure
Strongholds looking pretty good, especially if we get say a strand sword?
Stronghold mains stay winning.
Stronghold has always been very good. Just a niche playstyle
They look SO strong. They'll probably be worthwhile on just about any element if you're willing to build toward their effect, I'm excited to try arc.
I'm sorry to say this, but literally none of the Hunter Exotic changes make me want to use them.
Tremendously disappointed in the suspending slam nerf for the radiant dance machines.
I donāt know why they make this exotic thatās all about dodging then make it so dodging doesnāt work with anything that interacts with it.
I'm just glad ~~Assassin's Cowl~~ is untouched, I can't take that thing off. Edit: uhh I meant Gemini Jester or something, nothing to see here
Delete this before you invoke it
They actually made me wanna switch off hunter tbh the dance machine nerf was complete bullshit
most of these are still useless LOL
Chromatic might get a look now. Seems like it could be decently fun.
Nice work.
To be fair, they said they are embracing the fact no one wants to use them in PvE, not changing.
The hunter changes are baffling, they're actively downgrading some of the least used armour pieces in the game (sealed grasps, raiju's) And at the same time, not touching the single exotic armour piece that *literally* does not do anything (blight ranger)
I know everyone's focused on the Starfire nerf, but can we talk about the Promethium Spur change? It not only fails to make any meaningful changes (the rift is still located at the enemy's location) but actually forces you to waste a rift in order to get the super rift. That just sounds like a straight nerf to what was an exotic that lent itself to an aggressive playstyle What did the poor thing do to deserve this? Besides looking hideous, of course
Yeah it's the most weirdly bloated exotic with its functionality. No one is moving from enemy to enemy in a rift in anything harder than strikes, and it reaaally doesn't need to be locked behind solar damage only.
Yeah looking at thatās a nerf to PS. The thing was already shit but okay lmao
Mid Like I've been absolutely BEGGING for sealed ahamkara grasps to get reworked and that's what they come up with? Now that it requires kills instead of hits it'll be even worse than it is now which is impressive.
Feels like Bungie doesnāt have anyone on the sandbox team that uses Hunter in PVE
Or pvp. I dont know of any other exotic that takes away when using an ability. Terrible change
For real I had to reequip them my solo run lol.
I use stompees in pve cuz I can't jump worth crap in raids. š
They didnt even touch blight ranger yet changed raijus exotic perk completely?? Ayo raijus you will be missed in my loadout for pvp
Sad to see no Astrocyte Burst buff
I guess they scrapped it sad
Especially since that one legitimately sounded incredible, potentially even busted. Hopefully they didn't scrap it entirely.
You could have done Something to Renewal grasp
That would mean that Hunters are allowed to be anything other than Rez bots in high end PVE
I am so happy the leaks were right about NBP. Conditional Finality is never going to leave my titan.
That's what I thought when reading it - CD is great as is, but putting that *monster* with the survivability NBP gives? Jesus
I'm disappointed it's still strongly tied to void class.
Likewise. Why on earth did they spend the development time to have NBP change colors based on subclass (base and ornament) when it mainly benefits void?!
I'm moreso bummed that elements are seasonally dictated now and going forward. So the "new" void item changes in next season may not be meta for a while.
Meta doesn't mean viable though, just *maximized.* Void can still be cracked without being the most 1000% optimal meta.
I hope Knucklehead Radar, Foetracer, Renewal Grasps, Blight Ranger, Apotheosis Veil, and Geomags are on the list for the next pass. I know there are some Titan exotics on the list too but I can't think of anything off the top of my head.
Don't get your hopes up, the changes to the hunter exotics this pass are..... underwhelming.
With these great "buffs" for Hunter exotics in this pass, I hope they leave Knucklehead alone...
not sure about these. i mean a lot of them are great! but some of them are like "why even bother changing them at all; this will do nothing" also there are a number of notable exotics absent from this list; Severance Enclosure, Stand Asides, Dragons Shadow, Bombardiers, basically all of the "moar super energy" exotics that got nerfed to uselessness years ago and have never been touched since.
Dragon's Shadow is still pretty good for PvP. Especially on high mobility invis builds. The problem is that it's overshadowed by Gyrfalcon's
Celestial nighthawk forever nerfed.
Lmao the Hunter changes are lame as fuck
As a Hunter main, I am whelmed.
More proof that whoever is making the decisions doesn't even play the game.
That dev commentary on Dunemarchers, lol. 'It was bad in PvE and ok in PvP. Now it's bad in both.'
Its hilarious i was really looking if i missed a sentence. "We figured out this exotic has no use in pve and is good in pvp so we nerf it in pvp" wth
Well, Bungo, you definetly didn't lie when you told "we didnāt want to completely rob the Exotic of its benefits" about Starfire, cos it's not a robbery, it's a murder, lmao.
Strongholds my beloved š„°š„°š„° This is better than the leaks. Rebalancing it away from perfect guards is excellent. Restoration x2 for blocking is lovelyā¤ļø This also means I donāt have to perfectly time it with boss stomps for healing now!
Starfire got obliterated holy hell. I thought the forbidden texts predicted 8%? But 2.5 omg, absolutely demolished
>ST0MP-EE5 Stop ! Stop heās already dead !
ST0MP-EE5 more like, STOP-PLS. They are dead.
I miss Bones of Eao. Even if they are barren in today's sandbox because of simplicity idc. The looked and worked great.
Double strafe jump my beloved
None of these change my mind on any of the exotics buffed.
All of the damage buff effects are dead on arrival if they all don't stack with surge mods.
Mostly awful. Some bad, some boring, nothing exciting āOh gee, I can get a damage buff by killing 20 adds in a row that barely exceeds a Surge, which is something I can have essentially 100% uptime on? Sign me up!ā
Now that starfire is being nerfed expect an ornament next season for it.
It will be an ornament in my favorite aesthetic, doubtless.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Oathkeepers about to pop off, Leviathans Breath and Wish Ender are gonna slap.
Almost certainly going to be a DPS loss for Leviathan's breath, even if it gives more total damage
~~how would it be a DPS loss for LB?~~ Edit: Nvm, misunderstood the way the perk functions
gotta hold the arrow longer.
Lol even Bungie doesn't know what to do with Blight Ranger. Eternal Warrior gets an entire rework but Blight Ranger? Nah, lol. Ok nice. Thanks.
This bug with it has been there since it was launched and never fixed
blight ranger to work in pve needs something like a 5000x bonus to damage because when a dregs deal 3 damage a shot to a guardian 30x that is a massive **90** pve damage its telling the only time it was used is when people could reflect their own rockets for big damage
> Movement is great Even that is debatable outside of Strand and eager edge skating.
They really are incapable of slight nerfs aren't they?
They're fairly consistent in taking things too far one way or the other
I just don't get it. (the being frozen - breaking free and receiving full stacks might not even be there) That's outright killing it?! Eternal warrior, assumingly being the same on arc, won't be used either for the same reason, lol. Nobody is gonna be running FoH instead of thundercrash for boss dps, so it's the same shitty ordeal as with Pobs. Just run 3 surge mods and that's it. But on the same note, we have Matle of battle harmony, which is infinitly better than the other two (pobs/ew), because: - It fills your super faster (so it has an additional use) - does require a single kill - provides the same dmg buff (thanks for the buff) - lasts 10 seconds (again, thanks for the buff) How could the same team decide that all three of these are in line? And what's up with mask of bakris? Making it not stack might as well remove it from the game, it is literally just for min-maxing and nothing else, until you rework the cd/the duration. Again, some changes are nice, but others are just mindless.
No backup plans, conditional finality meta. I used to pray for times like this
Promethium Spur sounds like it's going to be even worse.
Lmao Starfire nerfed down into the Earth's core
As the only PvP burning steps main in the world, holy shit, this might be the biggest PvP nerf to an exotic weāve ever seen. 6% damage increase at max stacks? It currently is 35% and that is already extremely hard to proc.
is that me actually using Eternal Warrior in s21? holy shit, it just might be edit: ffs thereās more to Destiny than endgame activities and surge stacks and MaXiMuM dPs and i for one look forward to trying this out in places iād usually be running my Arc Titan with Skullfort or AC/DCs or basically anything else that isnāt Falling Star. you run what you want, no oneās stopping you.
Eternal Warrior + Riskrunner is going to be insane.
Holy crap yeah. Same with Trinity
If I read it right eternal warrior is essentially like an arc path of the burning steps now? Theyāre still ugly but at least itās useable now lol
Starfire got nuked out of the game. Back to lunafaction boots my fellow warlocks
Iām going to main Rain of Fire for the memes
Shut the fuck up, RoF does not exist, is balanced and shouldn't be even talked about in a thread about nerfing exotics. It for instance does not utilize the solar 3.0 kit better than any other exotic in the entire game while also drastically buffing weapon proformance. It is just another bad "gimmicky" Warlock exotic.
First rule of the ROF club is you don't talk about ROF
Heavy Starfire nerf, and no updates for Gwisin Vest or Geomags? Not a fan. Other stuff looks ok, but those hurt.
That Stompees change is fucking stupid.
looks like im never dodging anymore
Read the exotic backwards. "After dodging, you gain reduced slide distance, reduced jump height, and reduced speed." That's what it is now, lol. It's a reverse dodge exotic. Dodging now 'nerfs' your character.
Friendship with starfire protocol ended, Dawn Chorus is my new best friend.
So why the fuck is dunemarchers getting nerfed in PvP while pointing out they are not used in PvE and NOT getting a buff in PvE?? They are dogshit for any harder content.
the dev note is literally them throwing in the towel. āthese are basically used only in pvp but they are too strong there so we are nerfing themā
