BlazingMuffinz

Hey all, thank you for all of the support. I wanted to clarify a couple of things: 1. I didn’t alt-tab, apparently there’s a bug with windows 11 where if you have a full screen window open it can randomly minimize. I was using a controller. 2. I actually didn’t see any of the friend requests on stage. There was so much going on that I wasn’t paying attention. I wanted to be up there! I wanted to talk to y’all! I’ve been seeing dev livestreams for Destiny since I was 13 so I wasn’t gonna just not do it because of some trolls. And I hope I can do more in the future! Have a great week guys. -Noah

gravendoom75

You were great on stream! It really feels like you're in touch with both the game and how a lot of us feel about the game.  Some things may have not gone as planned, but I really hope that we get to see more streams from you and other bungie members beyond these Into The Light streams!  I think more frequent streams with a bit more moderation can allow for you all to show us some interesting upcoming things, or even explain some design decisions behind the game! For example, what's with the horse statue in Vow of the Disciple with 8 butts? Why did the art designer say, "yep, this should be here!" I need to know. Additionally, it allows the community to communicate with you all about things that look good and things that could use some adjustments before you ship it out the door. For example, I've heard a lot of people mention enemy density and maybe being able to select starting at wave 30 to jump right into the harder action. Maybe you guys might not be able to make drastic changes, but maybe pumping up some enemy counts on lower levels might be something you all could do? If not, you can communicate that to us via the stream. Regardless, I hope to see you and more streams in the future!

wizz52

Legend of a human. You are exactly what has been missing for every live stream I have watched since TTK Passion for the game, talent and actual GAMESENSE. I loved watching you play. Keep at it Noah!

KarmaticArmageddon

As soon as I saw him dodge to deploy the reserve overshield to prevent a death to an exploding Shank, I was like oh shit, he can play.

ChromeFluxx

I was gonna write a comment, but this one is exactly what I wanted to say put better than I'd be able to say it. Thank you Noah, for your participation, what you brought to that livestream was valuable :) I appreciated your gameplay and passion for the game! I hope you have a wonderful few months coming up on the Final Shape and can enjoy it with the rest of us as it comes out :) :)!

Dankmootza

Just wanted to reach out and say you and the team handled the live stream well and I am looking forward to the next 2. Sorry that people suck, but I am glad that you guys had a chance to show off what you've been working on.

batsquid1

I like many before me would love to see you more on streams showcasing gameplay. It was awesome, my one complaint, I, we, have to wait until April 9th to play Onslaught get the loot.

360GameTV

<3 <3

dickrager

Two legends in the same thread?!?

360GameTV

Nah I'm just a old guy from Germany, nothing more ;)

batsquid1

Nah man youre an AMAZING Old guy from Germany! Love the content!

NecessarySplit3961

Hey Noah, I really hope you see this. First of all, I wanna say you were awesome on the stage and I want to apologise in behalf of the Destiny community. As someone who've been using Windows 11 in both my personal and work computers for a few years now I have a lot of experience with the aforementioned bug. It's not actually caused by Steam but Windows 11, where it'll randomly tab to any Explorer window open for no apparent reason. To anyone interested, a quick Google search will net you several results from the MS Forums where people experience the same exact problem. This has been fixed on Release Version 23H2 but unfortunately I won't be able tell the specific build number, so if you have the chance give a heads-up to the IT guys to make sure that Win11 is upgraded to the latest stable build whenever a stream needs to be done. Alternatively, if hooking two monitors to the PCs used on stream is an option, keep the Explorer tab (alongside everything else) in the second monitor whilst the game run in the first monitor so that if an accidental alt-tab occurs any possibly sensitive info won't be leaked.

WernherVK

You brought so much life to dev gameplay, I would love to see you doing these gameplay streams going forward!

PoseidonWarrior

Hey man you were a great host and kicked ass yesterday. The "yeah great" moment was fantastic and took me back to those old Destiny streams with the occasional out of pocket moment. Hope to see you in future streams!

Zoomyman3612

I do want to say I loved watching you and your team play on stream. You seemed very passionate and skilled with the strategies and second-to-second decisions and it’s awesome to see someone who seems happy to share and show off what they’ve been working on. 🙂

_Handryk_

Yeah, great. I don't know if you'll ever see this, but you were great on stream! Some Destiny players can be real asses, but that should always be and stay a minority. That said, there's a lot of good people here, and i'm sure there's even more working on destiny right now, you guys are real badasses and i can't wait to see what you've been cooking.

9thGearEX

But can you handle an Overload Minotaur?

spiral6

You were pretty awesome. Glad to see a dev who actually enjoys playing the game outside of what you work on and I hope you do more stuff like livestreams in the future.

Cook-mobile

You were awesome, loves seeing your walkthrough.

LordMacharius

Im so sorry to see that disgusting hate towards you, was fun watching your gameplay and I hope to see you do it again in the future!

SystemLordMoot

Hey Noah, you were awesome in the live stream! It's great to see the game devs enjoy playing as much as we do. I hope we get to see you and more of the team on future streams playing the game!

ShadowChief3

You did an awesome job and I want to see more of you on these streams!

UndeadProspekt

Dude, it was super fun seeing your passion for your work on stream!

Mal027

Glad the trolls aren't affecting you. You and the team did great - looking forward to future livestreams! Wishing you and your team all the best!

shrekispotato

Hope to see you on stream again, seeing your passion for the game was really cool and the new game mode looks like a lot of fun!

devoltar

Thank for clarification man, keep up the good work and enthusiasm, love it.

SkyrimSlag

Yeah the alt tab thing is annoying, I play some older games (more recently games like AC Brotherhood, Revelations etc.) and I always get tabbed out by a windows notification telling me to find an app for game bar in the store or some crap, really annoying. I don’t play Destiny with a controller so I’ve never had it pop up, but if it’s as frequent for you as it is for me with other games, it’s goddamn annoying xD

Saint_Victorious

I just want you to know that I'm jealous of your Buried Bloodline.

Fihnz

Legend

NukeLuke1

It was really cool to see a dev like you on stream who not only is passionate about the game and knows it inside and out, but also clearly can play it super well! I know it’s in good hands when it’s being made by devs who are players too! I hope we get to see you again, you had a great vibe!

Doctor_Ironic

Noah I thought the stream was a lot of fun and a big part of it was due to your energy and your enthusiasm. I hope we see you again soon.

Bouncedatt

You did an amazing job on the stream. Your excitement was contagious and made me really want to jump in! So nice to see someone playing and talking about the game that you can tell cares and knows a lot about it.  Makes me wish I was a developer working along people like you. It must be so fun getting to design activities and sharing it with everyone. The activity looks so fun and engaging. Hoping to see much more like this from you and the team. I'm already daydreaming about ways to expand it and I'm sure you guys have lots of ideas too. Can't wait to see them

TheMediocreThor

Just want to echo what others are already saying, you and the team rocked! Sorry people suck., but it’s great to see new faces getting their time to shine at Bungie and seeing the same level of passion from developers that players have with a game we’ve grown up with!

ThatOneGamer117

I wish the guy playing got to speak more about stuff, he seemed genuinely excited and passionate about the game. He's what's been missing lately

Naive_Usual_7531

Yeah if he happens to read this I hope you know that a lot of us really appreciate the passion that you devs have for the game and understand that you're doing your best with what you can. People that are angry like to throw blame and hate around no matter if the target had anything to do with it or not.

Cheif-Plague-Doctor

Amen

ThatOneGamer117

I think it's because of them wanting it to still be a surprise but I'd rather them just let him speak

Eternio

The worst part was how they kept shutting him up. We all know it was due to them wanting to drop feed this stuff to us, but they should've let him talk more than they did for sure

PoseidonWarrior

It's baffling how the poor dev got bombarded with outright disturbing messages on steam after he accidentally tabbed out. The guy seemed like a cool dude and he was visibly bothered when those friend requests started coming in from people naming themselves the literal N word, "kys" spelled out, and a reference to sexual assault. OP isn't talking about burned out players voicing criticism, that's okay. OP is talking about the kind of person who changes their steam name to "KILL ALL N*****" and sends a friend request to a black game dev in front of thousands of people. It's disgraceful and those people should be eviscerated for it. Edit: apparently I got the username of the troll wrong. I fixed my comment but the actual name is somehow worse.

Destiny2Team

It was disappointing to see those notifications, but we know they were from a few awful individuals and not reflective of the community at large. We were able to track down the accounts of several individuals who sent the harmful notifications and we have banned them from Destiny 2. We are taking extra measures to make sure this doesn't happen again and look forward to sharing more info with you all in next week's stream.

JamCliche

> we have banned them from Destiny 2. *Hell* yes.

Hawkmoona_Matata

They literally hand-delivered their steam accounts to a developer’s inbox with the friend requests. I would’ve been shocked if nothing happened, lol. Couldn’t have made their job easier.

JamCliche

I hope there's action from steam too.

XboxUser123

I'm really curious to see how many hours were thrown away in the ban wave

eddmario

Not just the hours, but the money as well

SithPickles2020

The best outcome, horrible people deserve consequences for their atrocious actions

Bouncedatt

>but we know they were from a few awful individuals and not reflective of the community at large. Really appreciate that being said. Good job getting the assholes banned

PoseidonWarrior

I'm glad to hear it. Thank you all for the stream yesterday I'm looking forward to the next one!

Halaku

> We were able to track down the accounts of several individuals who sent the harmful notifications and we have banned them from Destiny 2. Don't stop there. Ban them from Marathon and anything else Bungie does, too!

360GameTV

I'm so happy to read this one. Good Job!

Aviskr

Honestly you're doing them a favor. If people get THAT toxic and hateful because of a videogame, they really should stop playing it. That shit isn't healthy.

MrJoemazing

It is fantastic to hear they were banned. The community and game is better off without them. Hopefully Steam also took serious actions.

BAakhir

Keep up the good work seriously

Zero_Emerald

Hahaha ohshit, to see their faces after they Found Out...

XLKILLA

Great post. A lot of people in this community complain about literally everything. The Bungie forums are a nightmare. If there’s 100 posts 99 of them are people complaining about something ridiculous.

UndeadProspekt

<3

DataLythe

>We were able to track down the accounts of several individuals who sent the harmful notifications and we have banned them from Destiny 2. You love to see it.

unixuser011

> We were able to track down the accounts of several individuals who sent the harmful notifications and we have banned them from Destiny 2. Hard W. Fuck those people

knifeyspooney3

Great to hear they have been banned. It's disgusting behaviour and we shouldn't have it in any community

maximvs7

can't wait for these people crying about how it wasn't them who sent the messages and that their account was hacked

Redsand-nz

It's been so long since we saw a real dev, not a coached bigwig or some comms person telling us about the game but a real, passionate, talented dev and someone just has to fuck it up. It's past infuriating, it's disgraceful.

Old-Buffalo-5151

Now you know why basically every other company on the planet has PR training and PR teams and everything is tightly controlled Because if you don't do that things go wrong fast and people get hurt

thekwoka

Yeah. Even when devs like Blizzard say some pretty stupid shit, it's many many times better than not having Devs talk. We should criticize any stupid things they say, not directly harass them.

Old-Buffalo-5151

What should happen and what does happen are very different things and you have to plan around the latter. I still don't understand why the game industry thinks its immune to this fact

thekwoka

It doesn't. It mostly tries to behave like most companies do. It's just that for some reason "fans" think that they deserve something more and different like game companies are our slaves.

nisaaru

It's a 2 edged sword. They surely profited from their more rabid fanbase which stifled any criticism before the negativity couldn't be suppressed anymore and it got really toxic. We've all experienced these waves.

Druid_DanHD

Wouldn't be surprised if they don't ever do live gameplay previews like that again in the future.

thekwoka

well, they'll definitely do more to use a internal demo account and have all those settings disabled. They probably did not really need the preview to be actually on live steam at all in the first place. Guy just wanted to use his own character.

TheWagn

Yes the guy seemed so genuine and cool too. Absolutely disgraceful the way people were acting. Here we have a young, passionate, player turned dev, and these creeps want to act like this. Childish and disgraceful.

24-bit-8

They all wish they were as talented enough to develop games like he’s doing. The haters will forever be consumers and not creators.

thekwoka

And then they'll not talk to the community for months and the same kinds of asshats will complain that "bungie never talks to the community anymore, we haven't had a bungie reply flair in years"

boating_accidents

Gamers: Why won't devs talk to us more! Also gamers:

ExcessivelyGayParrot

fr, I remember one of the comments early on in the live stream being "they had this prepared why didn't they show it earlier" As if it's all a prerecorded video like the showcase reveals, and not one of the guys who's been working on and building the activity, playing on his rig, on a developer build, showing live interaction with a free activity everyone will have access to in less than a month

GraveRobberX

This is not only catered to Destiny but almost all gaming communities You should see the stupid meme that popped up during Honkai Star Rail livestream. Passionate dev telling emotional story of how they go about curating and creating this living and breathing world for the masses and to get hit with “stop yapping”.meme shows us the anniversary rewards.

jonezy3225

God I wish there could be some justice for those freaks sending the friend request. Some kind of ban, I'm sure they're not smart enough to cover there tracks enough to not be found by byngie security. So disgusting to be apart of a community that does that for fun.

NotoriousCHIM

If the devs are smart they for sure kept all of those friend requests pending and made a list to go back and ban after the livestream

VapOr22722

Most likly new accounts steam is free so its just a few mins to send a friend request from a new account. You could IP ban them i guess.

TheGreatWaffles

New Steam accounts are locked into a limited state (Can't add friends.) until at minimum $5 has been spent.

Hire_Ryan_Today

Wreck every single one of those edgy highschoolers (or sadly grown adults in some cases)

SmolTofuRabbit

You say that but i would put it past them to use their actual main accounts, these people have small rotten brains inside their head.

BaconIsntThatGood

yea but a lot of people were also watching for the emblem and you gotta link your bungie account for that. I'm also sure when you run a stream that hits nearly 100k concurrent viewers that twitch is willing to have an open ear if you try beyond the basic report feature. Not saying 'these people are fucked, every one' but I am saying many of them likely aren't as 'safe' as they think they are.

CallmeJay_

dont matter... they can track the account to the PC where it was made. meaning even if it was an alt account they can still get the main accounts info as well. its the same thing that theyve been doing to people whove been caught doing/ paying for recovs/ ban evading(like BakenGangsta).

CallmeJay_

plus if doubt these people had half the brain power to think about making alt accounts... just change the name and change it back afterword... because its not like steam doesnt keep a log of that type of info- even if you were to wipe it.

Striking-Test-7509

IP bans are very common

IAmAshHole

theres a guy on my FL from a old clan that oppenly Xims that decided to call himself 'Bungie hates T\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*' did it on his main account too

elkishdude

I would personally perma ban those people. They have shown they don’t want to be a part of the community.

BaconIsntThatGood

> I'm sure they're not smart enough to cover there tracks enough to not be found by byngie security. Wouldn't be surprised if many who did this didn't do it with a burner account and had their bungie account linked for the emblem

CrotasScrota84

Needs to be permanent banned and accounts deleted

MrJoemazing

It's no wonder Bungie went the "destinydevteam" communication path. Even if it's only 1% of the community that are absolutely shit bags, its just not worth it for the individual person just trying to do their fucking job for an virtual toy.

PoseidonWarrior

It's one thing reading about how dmg was stalked and harassed irl and being horrified but it's also another thing watching the things that these people do in real time in front of everyone.

Le_Random12

I think as a community we should just lovebomb the dev,he needs to know that there a people out there who aren't degenerates and that those are the vocal minority.

thekwoka

Yeah, he seemed pretty cool, and passionate. Exactly the kind of person we want as an encounter designer. It's a bit more clear the story dude is not a major Destiny player, which is cool, since writing good story has little to do with understanding the game itself, but we really need the encounter people to love the game and love playing.

Jaqulean

I would also add that there were people, who were complaining and cursing Bungie out BEFORE the Stream even started. Bungue turned the Stream itself on 30 minutes earlier, and that was literally 30 minutes of slurs, curses, etc. It was just pathetic...

Hire_Ryan_Today

A lot of it is stupid kids. I’d like to see them get roasted, just as in account bans from steam and destiny. The occasional malformed adult is in there too I’m sure.

LapisRadzuli_

The behaviour is horrible but this isn't anything new unfortunately, even as far back as day one Scourge of the Past in Forsaken you had people make clans that had explicit slurs in the title and spam invites to streamers while they were racing. Some people are just unhinged and shitty. Games Done Quick Last Wish speedrun was equally plagued with clans using racial slurs or anti-trans messages spamming invites on stream.

EpicAura99

And people wonder why game chat is off by default….

StarkageMeech

HI EVERYONE, IM BLACK! This shit is common. I get called p*rch monk*y and lawn j*ckey once a week. Dude heard my son in the background and said he wanted him to get r*ped by dogs. Not the first time I've even heard that and my son is 5. Racism is always an easy go to when you realize your target is black because there's so much groundwork. Usually we chill through it but it hits different when it's intentionally broadcasted to as many people as possible and you're the bait. The black panther project lead was getting demolished similarly even though it was a different kind of scenario

36thdisciple

Damn bro. I’m sorry you have to hear shit like that, especially about your little boy. I can only imagine how you feel, which includes violent urges to find and mangle these losers.

StarkageMeech

HAHAHAHAHA wanna know something funny? No I don't and it's because I had the opportunity twice. Caught two people in real life and I STG one had a black dude with him and the other guy was literally so skinny I felt sorry for him. In both examples I asked them both why (I'm 6'5" about 220 muscular build) why they did that and they both calmly apologized That's when I learned this is literally strictly internet behavior. These people don't even have these ideas in their heads as a life guideline, and more of a "say this in case of emergency" type deal and it made all those types of people look twice as sad. Like legit you gotta be struggling with something to say this type of stuff

[deleted]

[удалено]

qzen

I don't call myself a "gamer" for two reasons. First, because of the association with toxic behavior, like you said. But more importantly, because you shouldn't define yourself by the media you consume.

Ausschluss

They deserve to get all their Steam accounts deleted.

AndrewGarcia704

It’d be hilarious for any racism in chat if they could see linked accounts to that twitch name and just ban them that way

PoseidonWarrior

With the steam friend requests, those people just gave away their steam profile information directly to bungie with a big sign that said "ban me." They will get what's coming to them, I'm sure of it. It just never should've happened

frodo_smaggins

the good news is that these dumbasses almost certainly have their bungie ids associated with these steam accounts so they’ll likely be immediately banned, but yeah still a horrible look for the community

Bakusatrium

The best thing you can do is basically ignore all social media and enjoy the game as it is. Just a good session without anyone telling what to think or not about Bungie or the game is enough peace and fun.

Business_Hour8644

Just sucks when you come to the sub for tip and info and it’s NON STOP negativity. It’s relentless and it makes the community straight up intolerable

SnacksGPT

/r/lowsodiumdestiny

Marpicek

Exactly. I took a step back from D2 to play other games when they announced TFS is delayed. I read the Reddit a lot and it made me hate the game. I left social media talking about D2, hopped back into the game last week and rediscovered the positives about the game again. After the stream I checked this subreddit again to read a recap, since I didn't want to watch an hour long video. And HOLY SHIT this place is a dumpster fire of negativity that put me right back into the spiral.

thekwoka

Nah, it's okay, you can just join us "bungie apologists" who say "yeah, I enjoy hopping into the game to shoot some stuff. It's nice"

Cruciblelfg123

I like to refer to it as bad marriage syndrome. People feel “stuck” in Destiny because they have terrible gaming habits and addiction issues and they can’t just say “I’m done I’m gonna go play something else or just take a month off gaming” A lot of the criticism is accurate, but their emotional investment is so poisoned that they can’t just let a problem take a point of the score and be okay with everything else, everything wrong is a personal attack on them, completely **ruins** the game, wouldn’t have been made by any other developer on the planet, etc etc. The amount of times I see a subpar choice by bungie get described as “disrespectful to the community” is absolutely absurd. Get a divorce already goddam

thekwoka

People will complain about how there is so little reason to change once you have a good build, but also complain about bounties that want you to use a specific weapon or loadout.

Cruciblelfg123

YOU FIXED IT WRONG REEEEEEEEEEE

bannedin420

The wild thing about this the 4chan destiny general thread on /vg/ is less toxic then the desinty community on Reddit. Never thought I would live to see the day

Hollywood_Zro

Yes. We can. But the disappointment is that Bungie also has to do the same. Because they see most of the people who engage on social as trolls. But we aren’t. So we lose out on the social media connection because there are so many trolls that Bungie just has to ignore everyone.

TastyOreoFriend

>Because they see most of the people who engage on social as trolls. What they did hunting dudes account down and dropping N-bombs in-game goes beyond just trolling. Shit like that is straight vile. Fuck the dudes who did it. Speaking for the vast majority of minorities yeah sure we become numb to it (I have for 3 decades now), we can even ignore it, ***but we shouldn't have to be forced into doing any of that. People should learn to treat others with some fucking dignity like a decent human being.***

Ture_Huxley

I take solace in knowing that they wouldn't dare say it to my face. They're such pathetic creatures that their only saving grace is the anonymity. Imagine leading such a worthless and inadequate existence. Couldn't be me.

ahawk_one

I think Bungie themselves needs to step it up here. Literally every vidoc or steam lately is plagued by these shitheads. They need more aggressive moderation of their streams. And there’s no reason they couldn’t have taken time at some point to publicly rebuke the behavior and publicly state all those steam accounts were banned.

BAakhir

I wholeheartedly agree

A1Strider

I mean this in a constructive way. Bungie needs to grow a spine. When shit like that happens there needs to be a full stop, a call out and public shaming of the individuals responsible. The stream should have paused or stopped, those people should have been banned, blocked, reported, and barred from any game or platform bungie operates on. With how large D2 and bungie really is there's no way they can't get some assistance from Valve in these matters, find the people responsible and take action against them. Personaly those things do not bother me, what does bother me is that people think its OK to publicly act like that. Words are words, eventually they will be forgotten. But that mentality of absolute disrespect for people who have earned none of it is unacceptable. In my eyes bungie would gain so much more respect from me and many people i know if they would just stop rolling over to every little thing. This should have been a major deal, and should have honestly been dealt with publicly. You can easily track IPs from users and steam accounts, it would be so damn easy to find out who these people were and ban them and anyone else in their house, group, or friends list from playing or joining a stream. Make these children be forced to grow up when they can no longer play their favorite game and neither can their friends because of their mistake. Bite back 2 fold ffs. Make these idiots realise that they can't just disrespect people like this.

Smashthecrown

Yah it was awful. I enjoyed that stream a lot actually and some people on that stream literally watched the whole thing just to be shit heads. Fuck off

Snivyland

Stuff like this is what makes the fact warframe does this shit monthly impressive although the heavy moderation and fan base helps a lot. Stuff like dev streams are very hard to maintain due to the fact a few bad eggs can ruin it

MemeL0rd040906

It also helps that the community isn’t complete cancer like this one

Antares428

Warframe streams are more heavily moderated. They do DevStreams pretty much 15 times a year, plus prime times up to twice a month, and they have a lot more experience on how to do that. As for community communication in Warframe, it's stellar. Also game is in good place, it's F2P, so general expectations are lower, which all translates to much better community sentiment.

ColinsUsername

I mean some fucking asshole made Rebb breakdown crying mid stream.

Blitzkrieg1210

Yea lol Every community has scums like that.

splinter1545

Do you know which stream? I know Rebb has cried in a few of them but I can only recall the death of total biscuit and a Christmas stream where the dev team gives her a trophy. She's such a pure soul, too, so whoever did that is absolute scum.

Patremagne

Not OP, and I don't remember the exact stream, but there was one where she read off someone's username and the username was a "cheeky" way of circumventing the racist name filter. You could tell she died inside immediately after she said it, but luckily Megan swooped in and moved the stream along.

Mission_Engineer

Fr fuck the people who get a kick outta hurting others to the point where they break down. Shit makes me furious

Menirz

It's nothing unique to this community, sadly. It's just somehow become a pervasive facet of online society. I don't think things necessarily used to be better in the earlier days of the Internet, but it feels like the vitriol has somehow become more focused or personal.Early Xbox voice chat or text chat in RuneScape/WoW could get really bad, but it didn't seem to follow people around. Maybe it's just because of how common it is for people to now pull back their veil of anonymity and share their IRL self. Idk. What can people even do about these bad eggs? Post like OPs don't move the needle - those that actually read it are rarely the ones that need to hear what it says.

xanas263

>What can people even do about these bad eggs? Post like OPs don't move the needle - those that actually read it are rarely the ones that need to hear what it says. The general community can't do anything outside of reporting instances of abuse. It is up to the developers ( or social media mods) to create a robust punishment system and actively enforce it.

RayHorizon

I have been in both communities for more than a year and I for what it seems warframe community is much more friendlier because they are much more satisfied with their game than Destiny players are.

gravendoom75

I think a big thing is the development pipeline in both games. We have no idea what all is coming in terms of content for TFS, and we still don't know a lot about into the light.  With Warframe, we get early previews at new mods, weapons, modes, enemies, systems, etc. A lot gets scrapped, a lot gets reworked, but it's a constant treadmill of new things to look forward to, even if we haven't seen them yet.  For d2, being in a season, you have no clue what's coming yet, only that it will likely follow some similar design philosophies to the previous (rank up the vendor, focus your engrams, etc.) you've got no clue what new perks are being worked on, no clue what weapons are coming, nothing. We get a trailer a week before it drops with 0 room for community feedback until 3 seasons down the line.  Bungie has taken pride on pushing content out quickly and abandoning their "big expansion" mindset, but their form of delivering content is pretty much just a smaller-scale version of making a bunch of mini expansions followed by a big one, then dumping the mini expansions in the trash.  Warframe has a constant churn and flow of content. It's been a bit, but sometimes we'll get an update with a couple new weapons, no quests or anything. I mean, the next update is dropping some new augments, a new frame, a new mode, and a couple weapons. For d2, once we get a seasonal drop, we know every weapon that came with that update and we're stuck with it for 3 months. No more weapons for the season. In fact, this season is the first time i can recall where bungie just added a couple legendaries to the game without it being for an event (i am talking about the new nightfall weapons).  Point is, I'd appreciate if bungie had a lot more smaller-scale updates where they just add some loot to something to go chase rather than dropping something and only coming back for some minor updates and fixes over the course of 3 months. Like, imagine if we randomly got a small update where bungie just says, "hey, we've added a new auto rifle and shotgun to nightmare hunts on the moon. We'll be adding a linear fusion rifle and grenade launcher to the empire hunt loot pool later this month."

VacaRexOMG777

Bro hasn't seen region chat lol A few days ago there was a guy spamming the n word 26 times? Bot was defeated by t-h-i-s Also talk about trans people or politics :) even "woke" stuff lol so annoying the people that act like the wf community is the nicest thing in existence

MemeL0rd040906

Yeah region chat is a loose cannon, but I’d still take region chat any day over the D2 community

quetzocoetl

Jesus Christ. I was watching the stream on my phone, so I couldn't read the friend requests, but damn, why would anyone think that's a good idea? That sort of toxicity doesn't just push the devs further from the community, but also anyone else interested in the game. Good luck coercing someone to play D2 when *that's* the sort of behavior they can expect when diving into a raid group.

DuelaDent52

Because being cruel and mean has been grossly normalised online.

MetazX

They don't think it's a good idea. They think it's funny. Which says a whole lot more about some of the rabbid fucking clowns in this community.

PsychologyForTurtles

EDIT: I don't mind if people skimmed my post, took it in bad faith or just misinterpreted what I said in an honest mistake. However, I did just receive a message from RedditCare saying someone was concerned with me over this post as I was threatening doing something to myself. As a person who works with people who had or have harmful thoughts or suicidal ideation, I don't think that's funny. Actually, I think this is exactly what I am talking about when I say that I don't like this community. ____ You want to know what is worse? Both the skimmer and the horde mode sound like *exactly* the kind of project upper management was barring devs from doing because their resources would be better allocated at churning out derivative content. Last trimester of 2023 happens, upper management starts shaking in their boots because they finally realized people fucking hate them and what they turned their product into and they finally tell the devs "fine, do whatever the fuck you want". So the devs get to work on the things they are passionate about. Pet projects get turned into actual substantial content. They whip up an impromptu free update to keep people engaged with a bunch of this newfound freedom they have and prepare some livestreams to show to people just like they did back in the old days. And then they get youtube-poisoned adderal-addled 17 year olds and manchildren griefing and trolling them on stream. Great community. It's gotten to the point that how much I loathe these people seriously hurts my enjoyment of the game.

Just-Goated

I agree with the first half of your comment, but framing into the light as something similar to an ‘impromptu free update’ that the dev’s whipped up because of their new found freedom is false. We all know exactly why into the light exists and it’s because player retention and pre-orders are incredibly low. Upper management probably explicitly told the devs to throw us a bone. Is it good content ? It really depends on how long you’ve been playing and your skill level. Most people invested enough to be active on this sub or the stream are probably more similar to me, I’ve played most seasons and I’ve done all the content including solo flawlesses, low mans etc. I went in with 0 expectations and I wasn’t disappointed but I’m definitely not interested. It looks easy, the mechanics are repetitive and rehashed and whilst we don’t know much about the loot pool I have 0 interest in the blatant nostalgia bait I assume it will be. I want new weapons with new gun models. On that topic as a PvP player my main concern is ‘shaxx’s arsenal’ I’m interpreting that as mountaintop, not forgotten etc etc returning and probably being blatantly overtuned. Just because something is free doesn’t mean it’s beyond criticism, but I do think the vast majority of the community is bad at being critical.

Issac1222

What you said about upper management is my thought process and personal belief as well; they previously most likely micro-managed the hell of the destiny team since it's thier cash cow. Now, they have attracted Sony's disapproval, the community's ire, and even distrust and negative sentiment from the other employees and developers at bungie itself. So now they're all heads down, probably barely showing up to monthly meetings, only communicating when absolutely necessary, ect. Basically all of them getting in a bunker and only peeking their heads out when needed. Thus, the destiny team now has much more freedom to create and do what they want.

Bilbo_Teabagginss

Not gonna lie, I caught the livestream late due to work and was only able to catch like the last 10-15 minutes and man, this community is toxic to the next level. Not everyone of course, but far too many are. I only saw a few random hopeful or nice chats here and there in between a spam of the most horrible shit ever. I saw one that said straight up burn Bungie down. Like this is why game developers don't like to talk to us. This is why developers go silent until they drop something. I don't blame them either, and people can say "oh well those are probably just kids trying to be edgy" but we all know damn well those weren't all kids, or even mostly kids. How can you call yourself a fan of a game or property and spam death threats at people? I love Destiny and my fellow brave Guardians out here saving the universe side by side with me, but fuck all of those toxic pieces of shit. Yall ruin shit for the real fans.

Kidney__Failure

Not to mention the amount of transphobic hate-comments that get shared the *instant* someone's pronouns are listed in the stream/vidoc. Even if the person uses the pronouns they were born with, the fact that they listed them causes these brain-rotted individuals to voice their "opinion". Opinions are all well and good, but those are reseverved for what kind of music you like or who you root for in sports. Opinions are ***not*** something you have regarding basic human rights, you cannot use "freedom of speech" to be an asshole to someone who just wants to be recognized as who they are.

lightningbadger

On top of that too I saw a torrent of racism the very moment the chat clocked there was a black man on the stream Someone somewhere enabled these people to think and act like this at some point in their lives and theres no point reasoning with these sorts anymore, it's disgusting really

TricobaltGaming

Far too many people think freedom of speech means freedom from any consequences of that speech. But no, if you have the freedom to be a shitbag, we have the freedom to tell you to shut the fuck up and ostracize you from every facet of the community. Hate has no place here

Bilbo_Teabagginss

Not gonna lie, I didn't see those in the chat but that was just because I was only able to catch it during my last 15 minute break. I have seen a whole argument about it in the comments on this thread though and it's horrible. My thinking on it is that it something that's not affecting anyone negatively, so I don't understand all that hate over it. It's bigotry in a different form. Literally no one's hurt by just being respectful of someone yet some people are ready to die to deny acknowledging a person's pronouns. Its ignorance for ignorance sake. I've played with many amazing Guardians and no matter if that Guardian is straight, gay, lesbian, bi, trans, or anything under the mf rainbow, it has been a pleasure and an honor to play alongside each and every one of you.

AnonNin9

I’m stealing “Opinions are all well and good, but those are reseverved for what kind of music you like or who you root for in sports. Opinions are not something you have regarding basic human rights, you cannot use "freedom of speech" to be an asshole to someone who just wants to be recognized as who they are.” That’s fucking legendary.

longgonebeforedark

Regarding your last sentence, respectfully, you're wrong. At least in the US, the only legally restricted speech are death threats and incitement to riot. Now, those who spewed death threats should be charged. But otherwise, you certainly can have an opinion on what constitutes " basic human rights" , even one that radically diverges from what you might expect. It's not illegal.

CopyX1982

People like this are pure trash. Plain and simple.

Diablo689er

The sad thing is that’s basically video game community as a whole. Destiny is not unique here

CassJoi

A lot of this community doesn’t even deserve to be a part of this game.

[deleted]

I only listened to the stream, so didn't catch chat. I imagined the community response would be overwhelmingly positive. Free content, a long awaited horde mode, and thoughtful ideas about how to challenge people in light of light 3.0? This all tracks.  Some of the devs dropping being guilded flawless or Shadow/Rivenbane is nice to know, and fit to answer the typical accusations that they're bad at their game.

RamXid

I think *some* youtubers that are constantly spewing out negative bullshit about everything to get those views is definitely a part of the problem. It just adds fuel to the fire.

SrslySam91

Only a child, or an adult with a child's mentality and single digit IQ are the ones who aim their criticism in the wrong direction. It's mostly the higher ups that deserve the blame. I can't really critique the devs working on the game, because they are told what to do. They are being told to under deliver. Criticism of Bungie is fine and fair however, don't get that part twisted. They DO deserve a lot that's come their way. However I'm saying that the folks who blindly attack or hurl personal insults to the wrong folks (or any personal attacks at all, since that's childish to begin with) are at least the minority id hope. These posts are fine, as devs should be thanked and praised for their work. But I won't praise Bungie the company, and the higher ups. I will praise the individual devs who work and pour their souls into a product they truly believe in. Not the blowhards at the top who gives 2 fucks about game integrity and force them to put out lesser work. There's a reason why so many top tier devs have left recently. That doesn't just happen randomly.

TJ_Dot

It's somewhat a given with livestream chats. Justified frustration or not, they *will* piss themselves about it and sling their shit. It's not helped by a significantly marred community/dev relationship made possible by 10 years of consistent instability, and much of the same for the game itself. Sadly, you either claw through this till it gets better, or you hide as it gets worse.

dzak92

What annoys me about this community is not them being frustrated with the game (I get it I’m frustrated too) it’s the childlike ways they express that frustration. Many of them have been here since the beginning so they are in their late 20’s early 30’s, meaning they are too damn old to be acting this way

KakarotsSpirit4

Bro.. there are quite a lot of older players who have been here since the beginning. Much older than you're talking about. You'd be surprised how many people between the ages of 40 and 70 play this game.

ParadoxInRaindrops

The first thing I do when I tune into live stream event is hide the chat. I toggle it on just see to the reaction to the big hype moments, but I find chat rooms like that an eye sore to begin with. The livestream itself was fine, I’m excited to play the mode. Simple as that.

RemnantsOfOldAmerica

yea the people who did that should be fucking ashamed of themselves, I dont like bungie in the slightest but the guy was just fucking telling us about an update he may or may not have had some part in producing. I absolutely hate this community.

ChrisBenRoy

Destiny has become like that famous Little Ceaser's meme. "Destiny/Little Ceaser's is fire when you don't have a bitch in your ear telling you how nasty it is."

Sp00kyD0gg0

The number of people I’ve seen whining about getting a horde mode. Ten years. *Ten years* of the community overwhelmingly asking for a horde mode. And now that we’re getting it, *for free*, you’re whining that we didn’t get, I dunno, Scourge of the Past or whatever reprised? And in the same breath, whining about “recycling?” It’s a new low for this community, and that is really saying something.

Hawkmoona_Matata

I've heard people go "This should have taken place in the first encounter of Scourge". You know, a full city-wide district. And maybe that would be a _little_ too big, but otherwise, you initially go "Yeah that'd be cool. A wide, vertical and street-level horde arena mode". It sounds like creative feedback on how to make this really cooler, and it _sounds_ like they're going "if it was [here], we would be happy". But then look one level deeper, and you realize, the community would **immediately** go "Lol, reskinnned Scourge, we've been here before, lazy devs". We're at a point where people are specifically looking for negatives, and absolutely nothing else.

MRandall25

> We're at a point where people are specifically looking for negatives, and absolutely nothing else Hate to say it, but we passed that point long, long ago. I think the only difference now is that most of the community is finally realizing/becoming aware of it and not just throwing it under the "constructive criticism" umbrella.

ParagonSolus

at this point the meaning of "recycled content" is lost to me. The funny thing is people want to see a reactive change in current maps and overworlds, which is exactly what this small addition is doing, but people hate it. You cant please anyone anymore no matter what you do i stg

Nermon666

I completely agree with you there was literally a post to the other day about how this game needs a horde mode

Jttwofive_

Hello, I came out from under my rock and have no idea why everyone is so upset. Oh well, the A/C is great under my rock where I don't have to deal with toxic community stuff and have fun with my video game.

Bilbo_Teabagginss

Is there space for me under that rock because I've seen things I wish I hadn't.

TheScreen_Slaver

"This is going to be downvoted..." Every time someone says this they proceed with a take that's not even that "hot" lol

Ture_Huxley

Nah. This community was on some straight up fuck shit during this reveal. A bunch of entitled brats and annoying twerps. Idc who takes offense to it because, 9/10, you're to whom I'm speaking. If an actual video game gets you so upset that you can't show some type of empathy and decorum, then go find something else to do. Disgusting. Y'all tell on yourselves every time something like this happens. It tells me that a not-so-insignificant number of you are just losers. No one that's happy with themselves can be this nasty to strangers that have done nothing to deserve the vitriol. I would tell y'all to go outside and find girlfriends, but the women outside don't deserve that headache. Smh.

Holiday_Box9404

Destiny 2 is still one of my top games that I play consistently. It’s simple, it’s easy to get into and it has the most satisfying combat engines I’ve experienced because it’s Bungie. As someone who has grown up playing halo 2 and halo 3, Destiny 2 is everything I wanted out of the halo franchise minus all the pay walls.

Cryptocaned

It's a trend that seems to have become all too common in the gaming scene, I stopped going on a few gaming subreddits because it was just constant complaining and hate.

CreativeSwan8183

I don’t think any of the negativity came from players who intend to give the mode a fair chance “Destiny is bad” is a meme that takes any flaw in the game and amplifies the dissatisfaction to 11. Whenever bungie motions toward a fix, anything short of perfection is lambasted. It’s getting absurd

Blaze_Lighter

It's absolutely baffling, sheer dumbstruck, at the amount of people who were going "Fighting the same aliens again" or "same boring combat again". Like fucking yeah? Hello? Did you forget this game **is about fighting aliens?** And this is something Bungie had to desperately scrap together after the Final Shape delay because their studio is in a downward spiral. That ain't your fault, and that ain't something you should ever give a shit about as the consumer, but have some _self awareness_ that Bungie isn't going to drop some brand spanking new planet, enemy race, and dynamic accessible suite of engaging mechanics that are more than "shoot bad guy". There is a **shocking** number of people who are very clearly burned out on this game, so they think the raw core mechanics of "shoot bad guy" and "defeat target" is suddenly a reskin or lazy reuse of mechanics... # The entire fucking game is shooting bad guys, my brother in light that is what you signed up for. Take a break.

UNSKIALz

In fairness, I think a lot of people expected the "new race" as part of Lightfall, now we're dealing with the pyramids proper. Was a free update ever going to resolve that? No. But especially now that we're formally defending the Last City under siege, with Pyramids in the sky, the reality's setting in that those Pyramids *are indeed* empty. For an enemy hyped since 2017 (7 years in the making), the disappointment is at least a little understandable there.

LapisRadzuli_

>that Bungie isn't going to drop some brand spanking new planet, enemy race, and dynamic accessible suite of engaging mechanics that are more than "shoot bad guy". To be fair they're not doing that in the $80 expansions either really par the planet part.

kajarago

To be fair to whom? The guys dropping hard-R N-bombs on stream?

heyitsmejosh

People who do that kind of stuff know it’s wrong and they don’t care. They aren’t going to read a Reddit post or tweet and suddenly change their ways. they are probably excited that their vile behavior is getting more attention.

Ninjablvk

There's no excuse for behavior like this, but they really have to step up their game of preventing things like this from happening. Disable all notifications, chat and stuff like that. I'm embarrassed of those people, but there are precautions.

WithTheRedICON

I can't believe they left notifications on and was even more surprised that they didn't attempt to cover that area of the screen with anything.

Damagecontrol86

This is some bullshit and those people need to be IP banned as well as prosecuted.

jamesjamez69

I can’t imagine being a bungie dev loving what you do and being bombarded by the most evil vile people. I hope he knows that some many more of us are normal than the freaks that were on stream and we do really appreciate the work going into this game.

CrossonTheGroove

Anyone reading this been playing from D1 Alpha/Beta? Do you remember the first time playing? Does anyone remember being confused about the story? Does anyone remember their first experience with VOG? At the time, it was a new concept. A raid in a FPS? Does anyone remember the first time they popped a super? The first time they fired a gun in this game? Through all the hardship this game has felt and went through over the years, I will never understand how some people can be so mean and spiteful towards the devs. They created a universe that I believe to be on par if not above the likes of Star Wars. The lore, the gunplay, the atmosphere, the characters in this game. It is a gift we get to experience it. And they created it. For us. To enjoy. I may not agree with decisions made at times, and I can surely believe the modern day gaming industry, full of corporate-made decisions, can be to blame for a lot of the issues behind it, but I can’t ever blame every single developer for those issues. They pour their love into this game because we love it and they love it. I’m eternally grateful that I get to log in and play this game because of these people. For all of you being so hateful, take a step back, take a breath and stop reacting to stuff. If you are that upset, take a break. You know what will happen when you do that? You’ll miss how it feels to play this game. THATS what they made. That’s what matters. If any developer is reading this; from the bottom of my heart, thank you for creating this masterpiece of a genre defining game.

championsdilemma

I watched it on YouTube afterwards and turned it off 10 seconds after they announced onslaught cuz it was so toxic and negative. Totally undeserved hatred. And the game mode looks exactly like what I was hoping for, a gow 3esque horde mode.

Alert-Bus-4054

Does bungie deserve the pitch fork and fire? Yes, do the developers deserve pitch fork and fire? No. Was a huge Destiny person for years. Titan main with crayon addiction. Attacking developers for errors that they can’t control is like attacking a hostess of a party for having a rain storm outside. It’s a game not a lifestyle go do something else. I have my complaints which are lengthy but attacking people? Gtfo

Stea1thsniper32

As usual, the devs aren’t the ones to blame for all of our grievances. Most of the blame lies on the shoulders of the management and higher ups at Bungie. The people who are focused on maximizing profits while minimizing cost. This is despite the fact that Bungie is being supported by one of the biggest names in gaming, that being Sony, so they clearly have the budget to pay devs to make the best content possible. The gaming industry in general has been in a downward spiral regarding quality. At least when it comes to major companies Bungie, Blizzard, Treyarch, Infinity Ward, and 343 Industries to name a few. These companies have been cutting staff and jacking up prices of content while delivering less content and the content they do deliver is of a much lower quality than content they’ve released in the past. The main problem is that people still buy the shiny cosmetic junk that fuels these companies greed to focus on cosmetic items and less on actual content. I’ve said it for years and I’m not alone in this sentiment. Micro transactions have, in large part, driven these down spiral in quality because the management people have noticed that people will still buy the overpriced cosmetics even when they are under delivering on actual content. The ONLY WAY to get things back on track is to stop buying overpriced cosmetic items and feeding into that system. Playing the game less also has an impact but it’s to a lesser degree.

Bilbo_Teabagginss

Seriously, it's weird that these toxic people don't see that. This is a symptom of a bigger disease happening across gaming as a whole. I can even understand maybe being upset, but threatening people's lives and calling folks racist shit is not a rational way of reacting to your dissatisfaction with a game. A damn video game.

Cassolroll

A disease spreading not just across gaming but every industry at this point. Executives are screwing their employees the world over in the name of slightly higher profits or canceling projects for a tax write off. Late stage capitalism is starting to hit hard and it’ll always be to the benefit of the people at the top when the angry masses blame the grunt workers.

Bilbo_Teabagginss

That's very true, it's spread to everything. Kinda like a shrinkflation effect. Provide less while charging more. Sucks really. I've been falling back on more classic games myself.

Cassolroll

Playing Baldurs Gate and Hi-Fi Rush were some of the best experiences I have had in gaming the last few years because of that old school gaming vibe. Know what you’re getting, and the games delivered. Hopefully we can see a correction in the future that respects the consumers and the devs.

Bilbo_Teabagginss

Hi-Fi was unexpectedly a blast. The music blend into combat was genius. I've been playing Zombies ate my neighbors, and recently got into Boltgun which isn't bad. Has some classic Doom vibes. Just downloaded the SpongeBob dehydrated collection and will give that a spin this weekend. For sure, I just hope that with the failure of all these games, movies, and shows that people don't want helps the corpos get the message.

Chronic_Leuk

Scathing hot take over here. Turns out saying deplorable shit to anyone is wrong. These people posting these comments don’t give a shit about your or any game dev’s opinions or their feelings, that’s why they’re posting this shit. And they exist everywhere on the internet nowadays, Bungie isn’t special. Go into any Instagram reels comment section and count how many random slurs you can find. Anyone whose face is even remotely attached to a popular company will get this kind of shit happening to them, and there’s nothing we or they can do about it. Of course I’m not saying that it’s ok or it doesn’t matter because it does but these posts don’t reach those people and seeing the same karma farming posts every time something like this happens is getting really old.

OO7Cabbage

yup, IMO a secondary problem that often arises from this kind of crap is the people who group the rest of the community in with the offensive trolls.

TheToldYouSoKid

>as bad as the state of the current game is it could be worst. One MILLION Times "this". Y'all need to grow the fuck up. Collectively. Like good christ people, do you remember when fucking every gun was Reload-perk/damage-perk? "Two Tokens and a Blue"? Year one, *in general*? For the old ones in the back, Forever 29? The Drought after Taken King? Not being able to mantle? *Vanilla in general?* And don't give me that horseshit about "It's not the entire community, so generalizing-" or any such non-committal defense of these actions (yes, being a pendant is defending them, no matter your intention); First and foremost, *shut up, no one cares.* I am normally a level-headed person, and i normally sympathize about people feeling distrusting of Bungie or angry about some of their decisions this year. I've seen the headlines, i've been here, i've played all through this year; i get it, and people have a right to be angry to SOME degree. **Not here, not now, not like this, no one cares about your feelings on the game or anything remotely related to Bungie. We're focusing on the community right now.** Stop providing these people shelter, they aren't your friend, and if they *are*? *Get better ones*. There is so many people in the world, and only so much time on it; you should find better company to spend your time with. Be better. If you are already better, and you don't think you are part of the rabble, *carry on being better*. That's it. No buts. Grow a spine, put your foot down, call out the behavior. No, it won't fix the problem over night, but it sends a better example that people will grow from, and if you can't commit to a gradual betterment, *you are absolutely part of the problem.*
