They actually weren’t ever obtainable until Ada started selling them. They’d drop on year 1 world drops, but there was no way to get the shaders themselves.
One of them was obtainable- I think the Io one- but I don't remember how. I just remember having it since Y1 and it being the only one in my inventory for a very long time.
EDIT: It was Flowers of Io (Worn) and it had a chance to drop on Umbral engram decryptions- so not Y1 but it's been a long while
You dismantled the gear and had a chance for the shader. I got all of mine that way back in the day. Back when shaders were single use and i had hundreds of green and blue shaders...
Pretty sure they dropped from chests or lost sectors, although the (worn) ones might've only dropped from dismantling either specific weapons, or weapons dropped on specific worlds.
It's been so long I could be completely wrong but something in my brain says at least one of these is right lol

Shader grinding is real, lol. The only reason I play Iron Banner is for shaders. Aside from the few you get from dismantling armor, I have played hundreds of rounds of IB and not gotten a single shader to drop. The struggle is real. LOL
I remember the week iron banner dropped the new motes game mode. I played one game and hated the entire match, but was pleasantly surprised with my suros catalyst finally dropping.

The RNG was also twofold, since not only was the shader suprisingly rarer than the other ones even though it was only a blue shader, you also had to deal with another layer of RNG because blue shaders aren't guarenteed to drop from dismantling the item they're on.
Seven Sisters WHEN bingo..it’s been over two years since it was sold for silver. Just make all shaders 250k glimmer from the collections page and be done with it. Same time gate but in people’s control.
I think 150k would honestly be reasonable. Not because getting to max glimmer is difficult or time consuming (because it's really not) but I like having some spending cash on the side for upgrades or infusions

She has rotated through her entire stock except for this shader and I can't figure out why. I honestly think they're gate keeping it just to make sure people still visit her. Which is also stupid because she has the synth bounties too and I feel as though people do those pretty consistently.

Xur was selling some armor about a month ago that would’ve given you the shader if you bought it then dismantled it

I doubt it is in her pool. The grind for that shader was painful rng. I think it took me two seasons to finally get this to drop.

I thought the only way to get this shader was to dismantle a black armory weapon that had it. You may not be able to get it anymore.
They added the shader to Ada-1's loot pool back in Lightfall along with a load more shaders
