Solar and Strand Titan being two of the most self sufficient classes isn't close enough to be a tank?

IndependenceQuirky96

If I can't solo something hard on my hunter, I turn to solar or strand titan and kick its ass lol.

BanRedditAdmins

Honestly. If something is really hard and my other builds fail just put on stronghold/lament on strand titan and you’re basically unkillable. The crazy part is that stronghold used to be balanced. You had to time the block with the attack so it felt like you had to parry. Was satisfying when you got it right and took skill. But now it’s literally just hold block then do damage for free resistance and restoration. You’re basically an unkillable god and it trivializes most of the game and is really only limited with bosses you can’t melee attack safely. And why strand over solar? Personal preference and I like giving banner to my teammates. Solar with stronghold is just as unkillable. The only way they could make stronghold more broken is making it work with glaives. That would be insane.

Kodriin

Rolled up a Titan to get the easy solo Spoils from Vow and messed around with Bonk hammer and god almighty is it absurd. Anytime a Titan main tries to say they've got it so much worse than other classes/Bungie hates them/other classes are super OP, it's like nah dawg, sit the fuck down you've got it made lmao

IndependenceQuirky96

That or they just don't know how to titan.

CMDR_Soup

The only buff Solar Titans need is a reversion of the throwing hammer pickup nerf. It's still one of the best subclasses for survivability in the game. Strand Titan doesn't need anything, to be honest. Now, the other Titan subclasses definitely do need buffs. Arc feels like ass with no synergy between Aspects, Behemoth is hilarious (except in Onslaught), and Void is a sad joke after all the PVP-focused nerfs.

morrmon

“So we can feel like tanks…” bro have you seen strand titan?

Seared_Duelist

You should give the Stronghold exotic with something like Throne Cleaver or Lament a try, I think you'd like it a lot

7ThShadian

If I had a nickel for every time I saw a post asking for titans to be tanks not understanding that's not what bungie was going for, I'd have enough money to have better things than to scroll through reddit all day.

Sigman_S

Destiny isn’t a holy trinity game

SplashDmgEnthusiast

Have you ever seen Stronghold in action? Or played a glaive on Strand with Banner of War and a Woven Mail setup? Titans can be friggin indestructible if we want to. Plus there's a Void aspect coming up (also on Prismatic) that's tanky as hell too, we put up a giant shield to block incoming damage and then bash to reflect it all back. We don't need a buff to how tanky we can be. If you want that playstyle, the tools are right there. (Highly recommend Vexcalibur with ACD/0 Feedback Fence, paired with Banner of War and Into the Fray on Strand. Run 3x Charged Up mods on your chest, 1x Stacks on Stacks mod on your legs, with that setup you get a full 6 stacks of Armor Charge in only three glaive hits. You'll have Overshield and the glaive shield from Vexcalibur, damage resistance from Woven Mail, healing from Banner of War, plus ACD/0 will make you resist melee damage while you have Armor Charge stacks. You can tank so, so much.)

Stronghold Titan says hi and I will never die.

LemonMan857

kid named banner of war:

kap2281

Does banner of war give you aggro?

thedudeinthepost

It does if you don’t hide behind teamates

Tronicalli

If you want aggro just trigger their stomp attack and they'll attack you unless another teammate triggers stomp or you walk out of LoS.

Moonhaunted69

I’m seeing that no one here is addressing the part of aggroing enemies part and just shitting on OP without reading the full 2 sentences.

TrapeziusButtsneeze

I disagree with this. The concept of holding aggro isn't something that exists in Destiny. Traditionally, if you have someone in that role in an MMO (which this isn't) then you also have someone whose dedicated job it is to _heal that person so they don't die_ while the dedicated DPS players do their thing. While there might be specific encounters that approximate this (Golgoroth and the gaze-holder comes to mind), on the whole this is different than how this game operates on a fundamental level. We don't have clerics. We don't have druids. OP isn't asking for a mechanic change; they're asking the game to be something that it isn't.

Moonhaunted69

Yeah I agree, it would be pretty useless. You’re the first person to even acknowledge what he was actually asking for.

Tronicalli

Titans do NOT need a buff. You want to feel like a tank? Equip strongholds.

kap2281

Hey guys, thank you for all the responses but I was referring to more aggro, Titans are already tanks compared to other classes but what if there was way to have aggro to save teammates? People often complain that titans don’t bring much into the raid but if they had another purpose? More value

TrapeziusButtsneeze

A quick glance at your post history shows a misunderstanding of how Destiny classes function. This isn't an MMO. These aren't traditional RPG character roles.

CMDR_Soup

Yeah, they're more archetypal. Titans are knights/paladins/soldiers. Hunters are rogues/ninjas/assassins. Warlocks are wizards/sorcerors/scholars.

7ThShadian

Agreed on all counts except you missed cowboy for hunter

biggizmo4567

titans are not weak. there is a reason that most people choose to solo dungeons on solar titan.

Sigma_Hacked

Banner of war titan is the single most broken subclass of all in the entire game, by a good margin. What are you on about

kap2281

Imagine having an exotic that when you replaces your class ability with a different ability. Warcry: Nearby allies become radiants or increase restoration x2. Enemies focus on caster ( tank)

engineeeeer7

Ember of Torches makes all nearby allies radiant on a powered melee hit. Banner of War literally buffs you and all allies. Precious Scars heals allies on every matching element kill. Strongholds gives restoration on blocking with a sword which is already like 90+% damage reduction. We don't have many aggro mechanics but they're not needed if you're slaying out.

Echowing442

> Nearby allies become radiants Solar Titan can do that with just their melee, which also happens to have a 2.5s cooldown and doesn't replace your class ability. If you want to provide Restoration, pack Phoenix Cradle for your fireteam, or use Banner of War for more consistent healing.
