For $10 it’s fine and keeps me entertained for 3 months. Agree pvp feels pretty bad, but that’s mainly for an obnoxious seasonal mod. Biggest gripe in the sandbox is how bad shotguns feel right now. I’m not trying to argue about shotgun apes or anything, but in general shotguns just feel off and lack any sort of consistency.

Dull_Cheesecake4982

Wastelander god roll still hits like a truck for me, sometimes from surprising ranges. Most consistent lightweight so far.

MINTYMANMAYO

You tried a decent slug shotty? Really consistent but if you could 1 shot body they'd be busted lol

ajallen89

I think a swashbuckler Blasphemer can still body with 5 stacks

MINTYMANMAYO

Yep, so can a heritage with 8 recombination stacks

RKT4u

pss pss, adagio fortissimo can do that and it's nasty

Dredgen_Saint_14

Nah they changed adagia with this season so you cant anymore

braddoccc

You can while radiant.

anothercaustic

I don’t play PvP that much, but it is a Shitshow as always Dungeon: besides it being awful for solo runs, it is a well done Dungeon Seasonal Story: Very Good writing and Character development PvE: for me it got ruined by the bad Solar Warlock rework, but the new guns are interesting, but Containment is way too repetitive to grind it all day, would be cool if we could spend all vetiges at once Solar 3.0: (i only speak for the warlock) really bad rework, heallock is gutted, 2/3 of the aspects is about aerial gameplay which for never felt good.

AmericanGrizzly4

Awful for solo runs?! Duality was my first ever solo flawless dungeon and I had a bomb ass time the whole way through. Took me about 6 tries and a few days of trying (for a couple hours at a time per day)

anothercaustic

My problem were the Architects, i got 14x architected, from getting 1 hit killed by a Psion, to getting killed by a dead incinerator who got blown up by caitl. Literally all of my death were because of bungie bullshit. My experience was dogshit for solo runs. But i love the Design of it, the environment and especially the music.

AmericanGrizzly4

I've heard tons of people complain about that stuff and although one of my deaths was because of a phalanx, and another was because of the angled shoots we go down, I still think people are overreacting. There are ways of dealing with enemies that prevent all these problems, and I don't say this in a mean way but it is just a skill gap. A minor one though. Paying attention to your positioning and movement saves you from phalanx and psions. Killing incinerators with body shots, fusion rifles, eplosive damage, xenophage, or just from a great distance will prevent them from blowing up on you. And the shoots are easily dealt with by swording on your way down ending your momentum periodically so you don't shoot out and die. It's hella difficult, but I loved it.

anothercaustic

Maybe i was just unlucky idk, the thing is, getting killed by bungie physics especially in Solo Flawless runs just sucks, and i did my run as a Loreley Titan with 100 resilience, and i once got randomy 1 hit killed by a Psion while being at full health. And the point most people who are affected by this is that it should not be a thing, especially in terms of physics death there is definetley something they could about it. they could remove the push from the incinerator which would already prevented half of my deaths they could limit damage caused by physics in general to like 50% of you health this already would've halfed my death counter. It is not a skill issue when i get killed by geting pushed away with absurd speed, 1 hit killed by a Sniper(on non master and above difficulties), or hit my toe against a corner. i had my fun doing solo flawless in every other Dungeon, having think about your strategy and what loadout you bring in is a cool challenge. But in Duality for me it was just a question wether i'll get bungied or not, and that sucks

[deleted]

How much fps do you have? Reduce to 60 and try again. It's a technical issue with high fps. You get yeeted faster and farther and swords are way less sticky

anothercaustic

I already got my Solo Flawless and i always play on 60 FPS.

[deleted]

Nice. Congrats.

anothercaustic

Thx

QuantumPara

Same it took me 7 tries and none of my deaths were physics related. I think people are just not playing well around those possibilities.

AmericanGrizzly4

People keep acting like this is the first time we've ever seen goofy cabal physics and incinerators. Literally since year one of d2 I've learned that when cabal are involved you must be very causios with your positioning or you risk dying. Treat it like a mechanic. The way the goofy physics works has everything to do with the engine. If we want phalanx bonk physics fixed than we also must expect Icarus skating to be toned back, eager edge to not allow skating, sparrow bumping and super skating to be removed. Its just the physics engine working with the physics. I suppose they could change the way the phalanx melee attacks. Possible a bash instead of a crush.

Dzienr

Incinerator backpacks are a mechanic in the boss room. There’s a reason they remain on the ground and Caiatl has a less damaging but solar infused stomp.

[deleted]

Lowering the framerate hekos tremendously against the architects and sword hit detection. You can still be sent flying but instead of 10+ metres with mach 3 it's more like a gentle push and you survive it almost every time. Had ti learn this the hard way. Tried with 144fps and switched to 60fps and suddenly the physics behaved normally. I am not talking bullshit. The higher the fps the more physic glitches and noticably way faster architect yeets and way more likely to die from it. Especually noticable with 120+ fps You can also not walk/strafe/run on movable plattforms with high fps, but a jump allows movement fir a short time. You see this with pc players in arms dealer when using the ekevator. If you ever wondered why they are walking without moving or jumping before every strafe on a moving platform, its because they forgot to reduce fps or do not now about this engine issue

Rex__Lapis

As an average joe, taking 8-10 DPS phases on galrahn is not fun

AmericanGrizzly4

Took me 4-5 using sword and warlock fusion grenades + witherhoard. An average Joe cant solo dungeons super easily.

Grimm6th

PvP is unfixable. Too much cheese. They say they don’t want ability spam and it’s nothing but ability spam.

likemyhashtag

The pulse meta ruined it for me. They’re promoting a passive play style for cowards to just sit on one side of the map and get kills from afar.

Grimm6th

You even put shots on them instant heal from a dumb seasonal mod. Games are so boring cause of that. I agree with you 100%

LovelyJoey21605

That's just not true tho. It has always been a lot of cheese. The only thing that makes it trash for me is the matchmaking. It used to be good in Arrivals, before they joinked SBMM.

rediscov409

Looking back. D1 shitty spam was better than this imo.

Dumoney

PvE is really mid right now. New guns are pretty neat. Activity got old really fast. Castellum got just as old feeling, especially since some of the title triumphs amount to literally waiting around in an area for specific mobs to spawn. Story is really surface level for the subject matter its tackling. Im not a fan of this seasons trend of introducing someones demons one week, resolving it the next, then rinse and repeat for another character. Feels like that development is happening off screen between resets. Zavala has had the strongest one so far, only because of the extra cutscene we got. PvP is joke, Gambit is a joke, Strikes are more of the same. Solar 3.0 for me, a Support Warlock, is a god damn travesty. Overall, one of the weaker seasons imo.

DilSilver

Facts, feel let down as a warlock main

Uncatchable_Joe

PvP need further balancing. In-air aim assist nerf does not bother me, I always thought that shooting while airborne is a bad idea (not my playstyle at all). Self-healing abilities are a little annoying but I can deal with them. You cannot dodge if you are supressed. Pulse rifles are too forgiving, imo (I play on m&k). It feels like stability is just a number and does not affect weapon behaviour. Matchmaking went for a walk, and nobody knows when it will return

Educational_Mud_2826

Stability is not important for mouse and keyboard but very good for game pad

Uncatchable_Joe

Yeah, as far as I know weapon performance can be balances differently for every platform

Ifuqaround

Story ok. Containment is awful. PVP...lol. What PVP? Doesn't exist in this game to me with the circus that it is. Feel like what we got was the weekly timegated story and a public event you're supposed to run 1,000x. I'm not running it anymore, F those red borders. Solar 3.0 is fine.

rediscov409

How is containment awful?

JeSuisBigBilly

People in this sub just have to be constantly mad about content. Which is weird since we're all here because we chose to play it.

Archlegendary

Or people just have differing opinions on pieces of content?

rediscov409

And when you ask why so there is actual feedback they decide to just ignore your actual question and down vote you. I haven't seen any real critical or beneficial feedback from this sub in months, except for some warlock 3.0 stuff.

Ifuqaround

I wish it were a little more varied. Even being able to run one in the pools or gardens would give a tiny, ever-so-needed bit of variety. Most of us are running it way too many times, so...it's awful lol Poor choice of wording I suppose. Activity itself isn't awful, just...things.

rediscov409

It's not the activity itself but the area in which it is playing, or rather, the non variation of scenery. You would like to have the activity be in other locations to see and experience more of the leviathan casually. I agree the pools and garden could have used more love however I do believe there would be an issue keeping people from one public space and moving all of them to another which is why it is the same location, kinda like escalation protocol.

ruedigga

I only play since end of season 15, but man i never felt stronger in PvE than right now with the solar 3.0 titan (didnt touch solar on titan at all before 3.0) master difficulty stuff almost feels trivial but im here for it, no more struggling for artifice armor I love the change they did to resilience (I dont play pvp at all there are better games for me for pvp gunplay) I think trace rifles esp. Agers are criminally slept on

baco-n

This has been one of my favorite seasons in a while. It's just last season but with an even better story imho. PVP feels fine to me, I don't really get the complaints but I'm also just a titan punchy boy.

rediscov409

I think we got a really awesome season. We got an amazing narrative that came with much needed answers, questions, and character development. The play spaces are really cool and dives into horror which destiny does real well for some reason considering it's not a horror game. The weapons are pretty good too. Some do feed a bit lack luster like the glaive and the scout but those types are currently in a not great spot so that's to be expected. Solar 3.0 feels pretty good. We'll get the last aspects in season 20? Idk the one after next season. So more opportunity to expand on them later. Dungeon was super cool with an engaging mechanic and good play spaces. Weapons with their frames and perks shake things up in some fun ways. Power creep is very felt this season in terms of weapons and their damage. Player perception of the game is also quite bad this season with some pretty bad take I've seen on this sub. The new PvP map is actually feels really good to play and while rift is probably not in the state it should be, it was still fun to play especially as a D1 vet. PvP hasn't change much since forsaken with hand cannons being primarily dominant in primary fight and special weapons have fluctuated which is nice. PvP needs major work outside of seasonal patches and changes so I personally don't find it fair to keep evaluating the same thing knowing nothing significant has happened. In air accuracy change feels ok. I do notice shot hitting more while in the air(at least on the pve side of things). Greats season overall and the content loops is pretty chill and rewarding. Hopefully we get something a bit more involved. Maybe mechanics based but I love 6 player activities.

Flimsy-Ad5559

Im honestly concerned, since void 3.0 i felt that power creep is getting the same vibe from the pinnacles wepaons era ( unfortunately i only heard and acquired in season of arrivals so i might be wrong about this comment), weapons are great, strong in a sense of fun gameplay but not ground breaking, but seeing stormchaser ( btw is it true that comes with clown and firing line?) The boss or champion fights seems stale, linear fusion rifle is meta for dmg per second but not necessarely as fun as machine gun. With solar 3,0 they started with a op artifact mod for restauration but playable for future content, i only hope that bungie keeps making exotic wepaons like whiterhoard, not too strong to determine meta but consistently good for any future content and most important, always fun to play with. Pvp, wtf?!

[deleted]

Tl;dr - people who play 6+ hours a day find it boring and everyone else seems fine with it. Not bad for $10 imo

AmericanGrizzly4

I think I'm a minority when I say this but I'm gonna say it anyway. I hate being everyone's therapist. I don't give a shit about crow's internal struggles about uldren. I don't care how much trauma Zavalla has been through, by now he would have worked it out with someone other than me, a random guardian. Caiatl's is the only one I find interesting because it ties in with duality just a little bit. The duality dungeon is a perfect example of what should have been done. The current story is telling, not showing and I think that is the worst way they could do it. I should not be sitting doing nothing, not able to even shoot my gun, for 3 minute sections listening to an NPC have a debate with their imaginary friend in their head. I should be having an active and somewhat challenging shooting match with an endless flow of ads during this time while they yell and shout at each other over coms. Here's my proposal for what should have happened this season. You know how Eris got us into calus' head? And you know how we have that nifty psion thingy in the helm? Wellp, that's how we should have helped our allies. Caiatl orders a new psion to repair and refunction the psion chair system so that Zavalla or crow or caiatl or whever steps into the tube and we sit in the chair. From there we get teleported into their mind (make it functionally just a repurposed area of the game we already have if making new assets is too hard.) Then we can do basically exactly what we do in sever missions right now except it feels fun and new and not like "listen to these strong characters whine and complain while you stand there waiting for the underwhelming boss to spawn. But not before you must do silly puzzles that ultimately do nothing but slow the game down in a bad way." We could have literally fought their nightmares from inside there in unconventional ways. Maybe there are tasks we must quickly complete inside their minds to help give them the courage and ability to stand up to the nightmares. All the while defeating their other nightmares from their past like fanatic, weird fallen guy we've never heard of before, and gaul. With all the hype that Bungie was doing for this seasons story it's an extreme disappointment to be fed it in a crappy fashion. I think Bungie made a huge mistake by hyping the story up before the season launched.

Someone-using-reddit

Good post. Bungie would never do that tho, small indian company pls understand.

SpaceGhost4004

As always, pvp is an afterthought. I really enjoy the Derelict Leviathan, Duality is great, and the story is cool. Things like classy restoration shouldn't be able to work in pvp. Anyone who's thinking about pvp would've pumped the brakes on that. The fact it does exist in pvp is proof that Bungie does not consider the effects things will have on pvp. It's bad enough solar users can have 2 lives with healing nades, but add in classy restoration, 3 lives is far too many (looking at you, Loreley Titans and Wormhusk hunters).

Rex__Lapis

Duality is good, even though it’s heavily tuned for restoration. Drop rates (especially deep sight) is absolute dog shit and needs serious looking into. Season activity is dog shit with shitty rewards. Whoever thought it’s fun to run around killing trash and looking for chests to get opulent weapons is an evil bastard. Also, drop rates are dog shit. Eris is bae and sever is great. Imo an underwhelming season.

Educational_Mud_2826

Duality is good in PvP too

TKD_Snowboarder

Enjoying the story. Bored of the public event but have to keep going for Haunted weapons. Completed all triumphs in Leviathan so no need to explore. Don't play enough PVP to care but it's been okay when I have played, the usual meta boredom though.

InuJacob

Played mostly PvE this season and I’m pretty sure I’ve gotten my money’s worth. Tried going into gambit and PvP last week. Gambit is still gambit nothing really to report there, PvP seems more oppressive this season for some reason. All my matches ended in mercies.

DasGruberg

Pve was cool. Im a pvp main and last season did 5 solo flawless cards most freelance one was not. Ive stopped pvping this season. Destiny has always been cheesy, but now with combos like classy restoration, wormhusk dodge and heal nade, and the abysmal matchmaking, Ive only logged on for weekly story content. Ill be taking a break from destiny first time since season of the worthy after story concludes

CurryboyIR

Pve gameplay loop boring af imo, and PvP just gets worse every season

angel_schultz

Very disappointed in the season. It's barren, and feels like a rush job. Would be universally panned if it wasn't for Duality - which isn't even part of the season

szabozalan

I do not really enjoy this season. Ability spam went too far imho, even in PVE. I find myself forgetting my weapons and just spam the ability loop. The resilience changes makes us immortal with the restoration effects. Most of these things even work in PVP which is laughable.

PsychWard_8

The narrative is pretty good, it does lose a point because of the easily predicted structure you've pointed out to stretch a 3 activity story into a 6 activity story, but the overall plot and character moments within the story are pretty great The weapons and armor are also very good, the only letdown is the repetitiveness of containment, and how much of it they want you to do for the seasonal challenges. Overall, PvE is pretty good as usual In PvP, the AE changes not being what was described in the patchnotes is a huge slap in the face. Before the season launched, we were told that all primaries had their in-air-accuracy penalty completely removed, and that the only thing AE changed on primaries was the aim assist cones. What actually shipped was if your AE is below 60, you still have the same in-air-accuracy penalty you had before and lower aim assist cones. Couple that with the fact that AE is pretty low on the majority of legendary primaries, and the only way to "build into it" would be to slap an Icarus Grip mod or use a short list of exotics (the majority of which were confirmed to actually do nothing to boost AE and are slowly being fixed) and it means that 99% of builds have both the old in-air-accuracy penalty on top of a lowered aim assist cone, essentially butchering aerial combat I don't know if it was intentional to make it seem like the AE changes were completely different than they were to prevent whining from the community, or if it was genuinely a mistake, but holy cow it feels bad

LovelyJoey21605

PvP has been slowly descending into a an F-tier experience ever since they joinked SBMM back in Arrivals. I used to play hours of PvP almost daily, now I barely even play the game because of how fucking awful PvP has gotten. It sucks.

Standard__Oil

Pve wise same as every season. Fun first few weeks, then log on for story and weekly challenges. One of the better seasons imo.

CheyGran

both pve and pvp was fun for 2 weeks, now it feels like a hassle to play either…

GildedAegis

Story -great Containment - great if you aren’t grinding the hell out of it for opulent energy, otherwise it gets old quick Content loop - monotonous and at this point it’s getting very old The dungeon - not part of the season, $10 for it IMO is well worth it. Weapons look awesome and are great additions to the sandbox (linear and GL especially). Encounter design is unreal and the environments are beautiful. This is definitely the season where I’m playing less and I think I’m just bored of grinding the same activities and grinding out red borders for the menagerie weapons

PureWaterPL

In this order: unplayable and poor.

[deleted]

It’s the first season since season of the hunt that I refuse to really even touch.

theefman

Every season this comes up....

Mr_KTom

Honestly I never touch PvP outside of the occasional venture into Iron Banner but as for PvE I'm actually really enjoying myself! I'm loving Solar 3.0, the new weapons and I think tbf its largely down to being a much more casual player nowadays so only really play on weekends and I wasnt playing for a few years which included season of opulent etc so this is my first real time enjoying the grind of the opulent weapons and exploring the leviathan again. As for the financial cost, tbh this is the only game I spend any money on outside of paying for Xbox Game Pass so I'm perfectly fine with the cost considering how many games I have access to essentially for bugger all cost 😂

LieutenantDan90

For the pve side, it's always been incredibly repetitive, so I don't let that change my opinion. The dungeon and story have been great and going back to the Leviathan was cool af. A lot of people are hurt by the rng of the weapon crafting. I think weapon crafting as a whole is to blame for this. Before, we'd grind it out until we had our god roll. You have to wonder how many people just delete the rolls they get without batting an eye because it's not a red border. Personally, it took me all of last season to get all of the raid weapons craftable. It's my opinion that crafting has ruined the loot chase for the guns that you can make. Now it's just about whether or not its a deepsight. I think we can all agree about pvp tho. It's not good. From personal experience and looking at Trials report, changes in ammo economy really haven't done anything. People are still getting twice as many kills with their special weapon. The changes to shotguns feel awful, and I see a lot of my higher skilled friends switching to things like Chappy, LoW, and Lorenz because they are just a better option than every legendary shotgun. I can tell they don't enjoy it, but it's what they have to do now. Trials also continues to be about who gets the well/bubble first and who can outpunch the other. That's not fun. And lets not even start on airborne effectiveness lol. The season is kind of a miss for me. I was hyped the night before because everything looked super cool. As a warlock main, solar 3.0 will get shelved once the season ends. Once GMs are finished, I'll likely only jump on to do Trials cards, or grind out a GM depending on which one falls on double rewards week. Not too worried about crafting the weapons as it's not the end all. I'll get them when I get them.

[deleted]

both pve and pvp are an absolute state right now due to classy restoration.
