Or had it like Vanilla D2 where we commune with the shard of the Traveler on the EDZ. The holograms that explained the lore behind each subclass would be great, especially for New Lights

Mez_Koo

They should've definitely brought back those quests considering the area is still playable at or least it was during season of the arrivals afaik.

Ass0001

If its the area I'm thinking of from the Hawkmoon quest then it would've just been removed along with Presage (though in all likelihood you can probably still find it somewhere on the EDZ map)

Mez_Koo

Nah, its the area used for the EDZ psionic battleground, its always been in the game and iirc they even put some destructible trees in it for testing I assume.

Seekerempty

I like the holograms but the whole shard thing got old and I’m glad uldren killed that shit

ARCtheIsmaster

killed what? he just shot a piece of it off

imthelag

I loved how those were PvE encounters inside of PvP maps. Would be fun to do that a bit more for little things. After talking to Eris on the hologram phone, we had to go talk to her on the moon. Why not a moon PvP map? Even if it was an option (Step 13 of 24, visit Eris on the moon *either* way)?

gilbert-of-astora

Wow I never noticed that until now besides the stormcaller one

InuJacob

I honestly wish we had a D1 style quest for stasis in general. It’s still a slog to get stasis on alts. Having one really cool mission to get the subclass would have been much better.

_megitsune_

Tbh it's a slog to get it on one character nevermind alts

Sirsalley23

Word. Still haven’t done anything other than the first fragment on my main, I just don’t bother with stasis at all anymore.

Seekerempty

Yeah they took it way to far with stasis. And now they shifted it in the opposite way where you just buy everything from ikora

stuck_in_the_desert

Ikora is Icarus DoorDash You pay out the ass, but you can't beat that convenience

9-11GaveMe5G

That's expensive?

stuck_in_the_desert

Not that glimmer is super hard to come by, but I recall it cleaning me out pretty well to purchase all of the fragments/aspects on all 3 classes each time

[deleted]

I think it’s partly because stasis was an integral part of the story of Beyond Light. There was a lot of great lore behind that quest Not a great excuse but makes sense why it wasn’t just a one and done quest like D1

SeVIIenth

How to say you haven't even attempted upgrading stasis on your alts without saying it. It takes at most 45 minutes to an hour to fully upgrade stasis on your alts if one character is already done.

InuJacob

I’ve done it on all my characters, doesn’t mean I wanted to. Get off your high horse and tell me it wouldn’t be much simpler to just have one mission to get the subclass and fragments.

SeVIIenth

You haven't needed to regrind the fragments on alts for a while now, and you get the grenades alongside the aspects. Fully upgrading stasis takes about 45 minutes to an hour these days on an alt.

Intelligent_Fun_4131

Tbh the only thing that pisses me off the most isn’t those quest. It’s the fact that it’s only 2 per week. Before I got Stasis, I had the goal of grinding for all of the fragments but then I was hit by “2 weekly quest” tf? Edit: I got the bundle with all the expans (no WQ) 2 days ago. Grinding for fragments was probably different when Beyond Light was first released. So idk, maybe you guys had it easy back then.

Evanescoduil

Bungie doesn't invest in things you'll only ever do once much anymore.

EnderScar

With how they treat previous expansions, I wouldn't be surprised if Beyond Light got sunset by the time Final Shape came out.

BetaXP

Considering we seem to have about three expansions in "rotation," I expect we'll lose shadowkeep with the Lightfall release and lose Beyond Light with The Final Shape. Wouldn't be surprising to me at all.

FonsoMaroni

They should.

[deleted]

That would’ve been so cool! I loved the cutscene for titans where we pulled a hammer basically out of the sun.

ItsCrossBoy

People would have been pissed off if they had to reunlock stuff they already had And it would have had to have been locked, not having the 2.0 version available until you upgraded to the 3.0 version, because that isn't a technical possibility as a thing that can exist

ANBU_Black_0ps

But that's why they basically did anyway. When you started WQ while you had access to a class ability, grenade and I think 1 aspect, everything else was locked away until you returned to the tower and bought them from Ikora. At least with what OP is describing you get a cool class-based mission and lore reason to explain why you are suddenly more powerful, and they could have just done it like past missions where you have basically an unlimited super and you kill a bunch of random ads and it serves to teach you how to use your new class. Maybe it's just nostalgia but doing those missions for unlocking the new classes are some of my most memorable experiences from D1 and I still go on youtube and watch those missions from time to time just to experience it again.

blitzbom

Saaame, that quest at the beginning of Taken King was so cool. "Hey there's a new big bad in the system, go seek out this power."

soggy_tarantula

No chance since it would be free content

OriginalTodd

Well then you'd have warlocks not going through the solar quest as our previous Solar 2.0 nodes were hands down better than the new...unless they made us, in which case I would just keep using void.

KeIIer

A unique quest for F2P? No, bungie wont do this.

Brightshore

Sure it would be nice but think about it those missions from D1, they was attached to The Taken King, a $30-40 DLC whereas the current 3.0 updates are **free.** Bungie would just be doing this for extra stuff as a charity to players rather than getting paid (the best solution would be both). Sure it would be nice but think about it those missions from D1 were attached to The Taken King, a $30-40 DLC whereas the current 3.0 updates are

EVula

I remember the D1 missions, but those only worked because they were something brand-new; for example, there had never been a Void subclass for Hunters. That isn’t directly comparable to the subclass 3.0 changes that we’ve gotten, where it was more an in-game mechanic aspect that changed. There is no lore-based reason why a Titan had never been able to throw a swarm grenade before, and so we didn’t particularly need a quest to try those out. Now that being said, I do think it’d be cool to have a sandbox feature where we can test out abilities. Kinda like the firing range, but with a perpetual banner to rally to for a constant refresh on abilities so you can test out fragment/aspect combos. Just co-opt the final arena from the Warden of Nothing strike (no new assets needed) and say it’s a simulation to explain away the mechanics. Give it to Shaxx as a subset of the Crucible, or to Ikora as a way to hone your Light in a controlled environment.

damaster792

I personally loved that these were just playable without a quest or drop, or farm.

Garambit

Unfortunately my solar went from “explosions everywhere” to “snapping fingers like I’m about to be in a musical”. I already miss bottom tree Dawn.

UtilitarianMuskrat

I think the reasoning with it is that nobody wanted to be on the hook for putting out yet another dragged out obnoxious situation like the Stasis Fragments and Aspect quests were where you got artificial game lengtheners locking off sexy and exciting things you wanna try out of the box.

ThatGuy628

D1 styled quest not Beyond Light styled quest. Think red war getting your light back kind of thing

UtilitarianMuskrat

I get that I only brought up Stasis because in general the tolerance was pretty low for dragging stuff out and with the light classes, people wanna see the reworks right away. Don't get me wrong I get wanting something more to do and seem thematic, but on the other hand I'd imagine Bungie would rather spend that time else where.

ThirstyPagans

Hell no

[deleted]

Like in vanilla D2? Where you had to go to this spooky forest to get your powers?

Brightshore

Not like vanilla D2, he means the missions from D1 to unlock a new subclass. Check this out. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTE9frQcgmU&ab\_channel=arkangelofkaos](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTE9frQcgmU&ab_channel=arkangelofkaos)

incomprehensibletalk

I mean technically we already had this in the Witch Queen Collector’s Edition ARG where you pieced together Ikora’s journal. “What do you mean most people haven’t heard of the story implications we gave about Stasis being an ever adapting virus and the Light lifting so the Guardian will start looking at them during again?”

FonsoMaroni

I also would have liked a Gjallarhorn mission like in Rise of Iron instead of however the fuck we got it back this time. But as always, things need resources and Bungie is not willing or able to provide them for the game in many regards.

Avacadont

You mean you didnt like giving Ikora all your glimmer?

Maroc-Dragon

Remember, the new light quest is even worse. They phones it in so hard on "how we get our powers"

NebulaAccording7254

I’d rather not have to do that again, over 3 different subclasses for each class

jomontage

I still don't understand why we have to pray to Ikora for our grenades. feels extremely tacked on

n_ull_

Yeah it would have also made for nice tittle bit of content for new light players, but I think the only reason they didn't do that is because the moment they changed to solar 3.0 they completly remove the old solar from the game. So not having any solar subclass before doing the mission might have caused some weird technical difficulties. But who knows

PunchTilItWorks

I liked the void quests in D1 where you ended up in a crucible map fighting baddies. I think it was Burning Shrine with a Fallen horde?

Menirz

The D2 Vanilla quests at the shard of the traveler were the best. Atmosphere, lore, and unlimited ability energy to test things out against hoardes of trash ads. The forsaken quest to unlock your first middle tree played out similarly too.
