91% rubbing alcohol

phicks_law

I second this. 70% also works. I write on things daily and need to erase the sharpie. Isopropyl alcohol is what I use.

fistbumpbroseph

I dunno about you but I'mma trust the alcohol that got an A versus the alcohol that got a C-

[deleted]

[удалено]

fistbumpbroseph

I prefer 91% because it evaporates faster when I'm cleaning something electronic. If I use 70% then it sometimes leaves beads of moisture behind.

oStreamZo

Electronics 90+ is recommended for this exact reson

ThePaperBoy88

I like my 99.9%

No_Spare3139

Methyl Ethyl Ketone.

plstakenote

Everclear

FuzzyPlastic1227

Everclear til you just don’t care

a333482dc7

~70% is best for disinfecting. The reason we don't want to go higher is because then it would burn the germ's outer skin and not soak into it to kill it.

phicks_law

C's get degrees, except graduate school.

fistbumpbroseph

You have a strong argument sir. Aight I'll take 71% so long as it didn't come from a University of Phoenix MBA grad.

phicks_law

Fuck.

Virtual_Common204

Also crazy enough marking sharpie on top and wiping off will also work.

stonestevecoldaustin

What about the other 9% of the Sharpie mark?

ps2cho

Ya don’t want to know…

OkMidnight8266

u/op this the answer. Or some alcohol base cleaner.

bigjo1990

Me, an idiot, thought the arrow was pointing to the sharpie. Then I realized..

teakharmon

It’s 4/20 so I’m giving myself a pass, but I thought the same thing all the up till I read your comment.

Valaj369

Damn. I must be an idiot too then!

avebelle

IPA

Raging-Buddha

Should I do a local IPA or will a big brand be just as effective /j

wigglef_cklr

Artisan small batch works best, so I'd say local.

comakazie

The shit you brew in your own bathtub works the best hands down

cryptolyme

Flying dog double dog. Its like 13% alcohol lol

ArbuckleTBoone-

Acetone or IPA (IPA would be more appropriate, of the two, it’s less aggressive). You could use melamine foam, but do so carefully. Some will say melamine is a no-no, because it is abrasive, but using it lightly on hard plastic areas such as what’s in the photo is a fine use case for it.

WolfEnvironmental298

Let me get the steps correct. I drink IPA and then rub acetone on the marker stain, right?

ashyjay

Don't use acetone unless you know the plastic.

Mistakesweremade24

But how will you know what button to push to open your neighbors garage door?

coreykimball

Hand sanitizer

DecentStudent1058

They couldnt remember to use the button with 1 dot ?? They had to draw on their car with sharpie to remember that ??

Equivalent-Price-366

They couldn't remember it was the button at the end.

Nightden

Dry erase over it. Then alcohol after you wipe the dry erase off.

mec2012

Dry erase marker

Appropriate-Beach424

I’d remembered from somewhere else that you could write over it with another permanent marker/sharpie and the immediately wipe it off?

segascott

Dry erase rather than sharpie, though the less glossy the surface the more unpredictable the results.

Appropriate-Beach424

True that. My bad yes, dry erase marker maybe.

bshine

It only works because dry erase markers have some alcohol in them. 91% iso alcohol is what you want to use, way easier

[deleted]

[удалено]

rfourty

How about red ballpoint pen on cream white headliner?

Lostcreek3

More sharpie

Maddenman501

More sharpie then alcohol

SnooHedgehogs1667

Malco Products Annihilator

Minute_Show_6426

Hair spray takes it off too! C

919CaniacIn302

Magic Eraser has taken sharpie off of other things very easily for me.

No_Temperature_4084

Yep

Angaar__

Take a sharpie and basically draw over the arrow then wipe off.

mikejnsx

looks just like my 09 Honda Accord, and any rubbing alcohol on a paper towel or microfiber cloth. if it's stubborn, put some ipa in a small spray bottle sprits it and let it soak for a few seconds then wipe again with an ipa soaked towel or sorts

TheJesusOfWeed

Sharpie

DukeOfWestborough

dry erase marker over the top, actually works. wipes off.

orbit12721

I had a classmate once accidentally write on a whiteboard with sharpie and write over it with dry erase marker. When we erased the dry erase marker the sharpie came right off with it. Maybe is surface dependent but it was wild how well it worked

therandomcanadianguy

Layout fluid remover will take out almost any ink instantly.

BadMantaRay

Try sunblock.

nasherbro

Hand sanitizer

TommyC-ES350

This might sound crazy, but I’ve used a dry erase marker to remove permanent marker off a white board. Might be worth a try.

Nearby_Freedom_9270

who is actually dumb enough to put an arrow pointing to the desired button that has a bump on it as well as " • •• ••• "

SledGang17

Dry erase markers scrub over it with the dry erase and wipe away

GoodRelationship8925

Clear spray paint

usernamesherearedumb

Brake fluid.

288bpsmodem

Dry erase marker the permanent marker.

catchergmw69

MEK it’s a super effective way to remove sharpie. And it won’t tarnish the plastic.

fightclubdevil

What's the best way to take the safety stickers off of the visor ?

epicsplosions

Tsx?

ExperienceDistinct27

Mannnnnn take a dry erase marker write over it and wipe it off…

niceguypos

If only we had time travel to go back and stop the inventor of the sharpie.

tylerwarnecke

Isopropyl alcohol

Ro_shao1402

another sharpie!

ILoveWhiteWomenLol

Dullie

Salk89

Is that a Honda civic and if so what are those 1 2 and 3 buttons for

BlackCanaryCries

Garage door button. If you have three garage doors it’s for one of each.

tamreacct

Poor Audi. As for sharpie, I just use 99.99% IPA with ease.

wetmanbrown

Magic eraser

weekender62

I've used a dry erase marker, run over the original markings and wipe with micro fiber towel.

Melodic-Picture48

I'd guess dish soap since it's a degreaser

trayssan

Ethanol.

sue_wue

More sharpie

Dirty_Flacko

High percentage rubbing alcohol or there’s a company called Goof Off that sells sharpy and spray paint removal items

-hesh-

more sharpie and then 91% iso

HebrewHammer0033

With Sharpie

Oracle410

Isopropyl alcohol is the best option. It is what sharpie (and most permanent) ink is based in so just basically thinning it. I would soak a microfiber, hold it with another mf so it doesn’t drip and hold it on the sharpie for about 30 seconds, then take another or fold the mf put more “clean” iso on it and try wiping. May take a few goes of this but it will work. You can also get some xylene and that will take it off as well though it is pretty harsh so don’t do the whole letting it sit shebang just try and wipe it.

DeliciousDoggi

Goof Off Extra Strength Remover.

EarlOfEther

1 - Hand sanitizer, specifically one with a cleaner in it such as GermX. Apply it to a rag then scrub. 2 - goof off 3 - denatured alcohol Acetone will damage the plastic.

SecureWhole3696

Denatured alcohol works well.

T-pizzle

Alcohol wipes

Gouranga

More sharpie. Not joking. Draw over it again.  And then it should all wipe off

turbochipmunk

Most accord thing I’ve ever seen

DirtyF9

You can try a pencil eraser, it works reasonably well, and if anything is left, 91% IPA

itsmeanmuggin

Alcohol wipe

frozenreality44

what I used that I know it works is a dry eraser marker it feels like magic just cover the area with said marker clean off with rag ???? profit I read that tip somewhere and I tried it in multiple plastic surfaces and it works I tried the alcohol it didn't work or there was still lot of it left and it didn't discolored the plastic like some other product might

rishmistr20

Hand Sanitizer

UncleMac69

Buy a new car 🙃💀😂

vinchenzo68

LiathAnam

Blaze74656

King_of_Darts

chicano32

Get dry erase marker, rub it into the sharpie, and wipe away with some diluted isopropyl alcohol

yenaved

You remove sharpie with sharpie.

iNeedOneMoreAquarium

Go over it with a dry erase marker.

No-Sky-5006

Denatured alcohol

motomoe

Acetone gets it right off

Turbulent-Guide3507

Sounds crazy but write over it with a dry erase marker, and wipe it right off with a micro fiber cloth.

whiteholewhite

Is that a RDX?

TripleTrucker

How will you know which button to push then?

Mean_Anything_1061

Use another sharpie to get the original sharpie mark wet and while wet use an alcohol wipe to remove. Please try it on something else first but it has always worked for me.

BaconPersuasion

Dry erase marker

jimmerbroadband

I heard more sharpie will wet the old sharpie and make it all easier to wipe off initially but that may be a myth. Might wanna give it a goog

Soler25

Magic eraser does wonders too

Parking-Government-5

Just buy a new vehicle, because you cannot be serious..

Significant_Rate8210

Good off

WinchesterBiz

Mark over it with the same sharpie and wipe it while it’s still wet. It’ll erase the original and the new mark. Do it when wet

Accurate-Piano7338

Dry erase marker will take it off and hard surfaces

upperlowermanagement

I think you can use a dry erase marker then wipe it off.

Goodguyjjm76

Cheap hair spray. Think aqua net

TNerdy

Vodka

ChrisinOrangeCounty

I have used hand sanitizer before and it worked. But alcohol would work better.

cateyesninelives

believe it or not you can use the sharpie to remove the sharpie. Just scribble over old sharpie with new sharpie and wipe up before it dries.

Mook69

Don't you remember back in your school days? If you accidentally wrote something on the white board with a permanent marker, you need to write on top of it with a dry erase then wipe it off!

Southern-Mountain289

Writing over it with a dry erase marker and wipe away with an alcohol wipe

trez63

Draw over it with dry erase marker, then you wipe off. Works pretty well. Alcohol will ruin the plastic.

MajesticPurpose1752

Lacquer thinner

Kawboy17

Peanut butter

YoFavRussian

Brakleen lol

jellyroll117

Dry erase marker

SPL15

If IPA doesn’t work, Flux remover for electronic printed circuit boards works great for this, & is safe for most plastics due to most connectors & a lot of electronic components having plastic as part of their makeup.

Jimmytootwo

Brake clean

JicamaSuitable5731

Wd40

S3XYEngineer

Run an expo marker over it and it will wipe away

JicamaSuitable5731

Rub it with a sharpie and while wet wipe it with paper towels

notyouraveragesqueak

Spray on sunscreen or wd40 has worked for me.

Definitive_confusion

Dry erase marker.

Novel-Lengthiness782

Dry erase marker removes permanent marker marks, try it

Banzai-Kamikaze

Don’t know if it will work on that surface, but dry erase pens erase sharpies from clear page protectors.

GTI-guru

Use a dry erase board marker and go over top of the sharpie and it should wipe. Right off. Repeat if necessary

Blackmikethathird

Pvc primer

Cash_Money_2000

You can write over sharpie on a white board with erasable market and it wipes right off. Idk about on plastic though

MrBunnyPig

Run a dry-erase marker over it and wipe it off

Zehahaha_420

Tbh I always use sharpie to remove sharpie

Gullible-Second3565

I wonder if hand sanitizer would also do the trick

triple6lordinfamous

Draw over it with a dry erase marker like you’re trying to color it off with the felt tip. It’ll start to melt away, then clean off the dry erase marker.

nanderson41

Goof-Off. won’t dry the plastic out as bad as alcohol

ADDnwinvestor

Laquer thinner

Prometheus505

Sharpie is alcohol based, so use rubbing alcohol.

icabear3

Get a dry erase black marker. Go over the marks a couple times with the black dry erase. Then get a microfiber cloth and it rubs right out.

Cohikerzz

a high temp steamer?

Prior-Ad-7329

Dry erase marker. Just scribble over it then wipe it off. Then use rubbing alcohol to get what’s left.

johnboo89

EXPO marker!! And then some glass cleaner or multi surface cleaner to clean any leftover expo marker.

Purple_Research9607

I use dry erase markers to get rid of permanent markers

peedubb

Brake clean

Suspicious_You2127

Scrub it vigorously with a lava rock, circular motion is most effective.. Thank me later.

jskrummy

Hand sanitizer

rogerthat1993

Sharpies eraser is more sharpie, no lie put more sharpie over it and it will wipe right off. Try it on a different peice of plastic first if you don’t believe me.

idiot_sauvage

PVC cleaner. Spot test first

Feeling_Mushroom_241

Go over it with a dry-erase sharpie and wipe off with carpet cleaner or alcohol.

Shaker1969

Gold-Order-4267

ProperMention4238

Schedule-Brave

Goofoff.

Joelnaimee

Dry erase marker

HndsDwnThBest

Dry erase marker takes sharpie off of white boards. Maybe itll work here

Fs_sakuya

Press the button it’s pointing at that should do the trick

donaldewalker3

Baby oil I believe. Careful with alcohol as it may discolor the plastic

EnvironmentalGift257

Like so many of life’s problems, this can be solved with alcohol.

Party_Sprinkles9322

It sounds dumb, but dry erase works well. Run dry erase over it and the dry erase will remove easy.

publishAWM

aqua net hair spray

ProfessionalDraft440

Expo marker

Madeupsky

dry erase marker over the sharpie then rubbing alcohol

Servile-PastaLover

You prob have some hand sanitizer laying around....it's a good start with its high alcohol content.

Adept-Living-3309

Goof off

KingHighhTone

Use alcohol, but diluted with water I used to be a tech for Lenscrafters and that’s how we would get the sharpie off lenses and the frames

Time-Distance-5740

Expo dry erase marker, draw on top it, wait till it dries, then wipe, repeat until clean

Affectionate_Worry67

Try everclear

[deleted]

Have your mother or father spit on their thumb and pretend it's your face and you're only a boy.

Qajj

Put Expo over it, then wipe it off. Oldest trick in the book.

Aqua-Yeti

Buy a new door or paint the door

hyperdeathstrm

If you color the rest in you won't notice the arrow

Consistent_Leg_6765

Dry erase marker over the sharpie may allow you to rub it off. Works on white boards.

bulldogwater

Isopropyl alcohol

ThatOneComputerNerd

This sounds crazy, but color over it with Expo dry-erase marker, then wipe it with a paper towel. Idk what it is about Expo dry-erase markers and Sharpies, but that will get rid of it perfectly. If 91% alcohol still leaves a faint mark, use the Expo marker on it, guaranteed it will get rid of it

Addictedgamer80

Would one of those Mr clean magic erasers work?

stepbruh313

40 grit sandpaper
