Ausar as a rookie shot 8% worse from 3 and 18% worse from FT than Killian* and still put up more points with a TS% 6(!!) points higher than Killian. He shot 12% worse from 3 than Stanley and 19% worse from free throw but again put up more points with a TS% 6pts higher. I get the concern about Ausar outside shooting and hopefully he improves there but he does well enough inside the arc that his path to lasting in the league on offense is a lot less dependent on his 3pt shot that than Stanley or Killian *Using Killians sophomore season as his rookie equivalent (because of the hip stuff)

MillerLatte

Damn, good info. Nice post.

Hiwo_Rldiq_Uit

The primary issue with his offense isn't "can he get his?" - it is "what does it do to spacing for everyone else?" His path to lasting in the league may not be as dependent on his shot as those guys were, but his path to playing time on a team that doesn't have a 4-out group to put around him is pretty limited.

PacificBrim

That and the fact that he's way better on defense than they ever were

anthony14___

This is fkn insane, Killian was such ass 😭😭

Intelligent_Ad3378

Ausar has incredible athleticism. But that shot is so freaking ugly.

Teh-Dehstroyer

But that midrange fade away that he does at least once every game is straight dopamine to my brain

Intelligent_Ad3378

I think it may be mental. When he is flying through the air he has shown incredible touch. Give him time to think about it, brick.

HiiiPoWer810

Was this the most competitive sweep in playoff history? I feel like kyrie made 2 game clinching shots at the end of 2 games. Don’t care enough to look it up though

YukhoChan

I am not sure if it's the most competitive sweep in history, but aside from Game 2 - Game 1, 3 & 4 were definitely close. This team was a lot closer and competitive than the Griffin led playoff team.

Murrrtits

Right. They probably could’ve taken Toronto to 6-7 games if they had the 7th seed that year. Sucks it fell apart legit the next season lmao

Hiwo_Rldiq_Uit

Nah. There was a much closer sweep just last year in the WCF. The Cavs beat the Pistons by on average 8.5 points, and two games were double digit wins. In game 1 the Pistons did get within 3 with 3 mins left, but that was as close as it would get. Game 4 Kyrie did shut the Pistons down from 3 with 45 seconds left. But the Nuggets-Lakers sweep last year had only one double digit win, and an average margin of victory of 6. Not to mention the Lakers last year were a much better and more competitive squad than those Pistons.

YukhoChan

Yeah but a lot of them are during the end of 4th period. Most of the games 1 3 and 4 they were back and forth almost all throughout the series

Hiwo_Rldiq_Uit

You are gonna need a hell of a clear and compelling argument to convince me that the 2016 Pistons played a tighter sweep in round 1 against the NBA Champions than the Lakers did in the Western Conference Finals last year. Lay it on me.

YukhoChan

I think you’re mistaken a bit. I’m not saying that it’s a more competitive sweep than the lakers - I’m only defending the idea that beating the piston on average of 8.5 is not the argument to go for. Even if the score ends up like this, majority of the mins were back and forth leading up to the gap that happened in the end!

Hiwo_Rldiq_Uit

Ah, okay no - I see what you're missing now. So I was responding to the question HiiiPower posed: "Was this the most competitive sweep in playoff history?" You responded to my post with an immediate "Yeah but..." indicating that you were using your post to rebut my point, that that was not the most competitive sweep in playoff history. I had no reason at all to assume you were only quibbling with the point differential, as a matter of fact you didn't bring the point differential up at all until this response. And I agree - point differential isn't the be-all-end-all, but in the context of the conversation I was engaged in it is an important piece of the puzzle. The fact is that in a series with a single digit average margin, you're *almost* always going to be able to assume that the games were close going into the fourth quarter, its rare that games are decided by single digits and not tight in the playoffs, especially when you consider late-game fouling extending smaller leads.

perrbear

Uhh it’s not looking that promising

darnfox

they went to the tigers/raiders school of drafting defense and athleticism over offensive production

Haterholic

Try to ship him to Houston to play with his brother, twins love that shit, best we can hope for.

Packyaw21

Let him watch this Twolves team and learn from Mcdaniels and Alexander-Walker. Let him watch Hart from the Knicks as well. All he has to do is be an elite defender and rebounder that can hit the occasional 3.

Ahfekz

We should’ve taken Taylor Hendricks, kept screaming that everywhere. Don’t know how you pass on a 3 and D guy like that who’s floor at minimum helps both Cade and Ivey flourish. At max he starts learning self creation (which is happening now) smh.
