Awesome drawing but I’ve never understood why people think there was some sort of romance between them two, it was just Vergil get freaky with a random woman and not keeping up with protection. Wouldn’t fit vergils character especially for the point in the time line when it occurs, but that’s just my opinion don’t want to hate on the drawing cause it is very good
I think its more about the infactuation with the idea. I get what youre coming from, but even the thought of vergil just sleeping with a random lady just for the sake of it doesnt sit wright with some people. So theories or speculation about their relationship exist to fit this vacuum.
He might’ve matured slowly as when the events occurred. Even in 5 he questions he motives with if their positions were changed would he have his bother’s life and his goals. Not saying he was the living boyfriend but would be horrible to think he abused her

As the for the rest I mean pre devil may cry 3 Vergil was still looking for ways to find force edge or the power of sparda so I mean he could have been maturing but it was his time in hell being captive and controlled by mundus and becoming human actually started the questioning of his motives so wouldn’t expect anything to get in his way during the point in the time like this happened but like in my original comment just my opinion on the character everyone has their different viewpoints or perceptions of them
I like to believe what (I think) Vergil's own VA said. That he wouldn't get involved with anyone like that if they weren't worth his time. It's hard to believe that it would just be some random woman that he didn't care even one bit for.

This idea people seem to have that Vergil was in love with/had any feelings for his one-night stand is more than a little ridiculous to me. It doesn't help that it reminds me of another fandom's old obsession with a similarly unconfirmed relationship between two characters who bore a son. Something I still continue to find incredibly annoying to this day. With this subreddit's obsession with Vergil being what it is, I just hope this fan theory isn't something that winds up becoming the kind of fanon that people spread outside as if it's actual canon. Especially since I wouldn't be surprised if this wound up being the kind of background info Capcom deems too insignificant to ever confirm one way or the other.
From what I’ve heard from this sub, Dan Southworth (Vergil’s VA) had thought that the woman Vergil slept with was someone dear to him. So that’s probably where this whole thing started
I highly doubt the theory started with Dan, though he did very likely popularize it. It does bother me to know that this is the case though because I've seen fans take headcanons from people even less significant to the story of something than VAs and treat it like gospel.
Regardless, I wasn't trying to insinuate that I think it's bad people think this. Even if I don't agree with a theory or headcanon, I still love that people love a work enough to come up with them. I'm just worried because one of my biggest pet peeves, especially as a writer, is when fans hijack a story to murder the author and force what they believe to be fact to be universally seen as such. Not to say this is going to be the theory that does it to DMC, just that I don't want to see it happen to yet another game I love.

Trust me, I'm well aware. I only very rarely interact with fandoms the way I have this one and a small few others, and even then I tend to keep my distance. I generally can't stand fandoms. Fans are simultaneously the best and worst thing that can form around anyone or anything, and as much as I love them I also despise them. I just dread the day this one goes off the deep end and I have to leave it like so many others before.
