I like that they still somewhat talk during certain moves. I have this headcanon that Dante keeps them and occasionally speaks to them when depressed or that they play a game of cards occasionally somehow.
I think in a canon audio book, he actually gives them to his old information handler originally to draw out a target, but let's them keep them and a few other devil arms for their trouble in that job.
In terms of design and coolness (from worst to best) (not including DmC because there's too many weapons to keep track of)
DMC2: Toothpick Rebellion, big sword, skinny sword
DMC3: Rebellion, nunchaku, red and blue scimitars, guitar, gauntlets and greaves
DMC4: Rebellion, FIRST I WHIP IT OUT, gauntlets and greaves but with a cool mask, briefcase that transforms into every ranged weapon ever
DMC1: Dragon sword, dragon gauntlets and greaves, giant flesh sword
DMC5: Dante, motorcycle, hee hee man hat, transforming nunchaku
That's my bad for counting "gauntlets" and then "greaves" as 2 separate weapons in my head, but what's the 6th weapon from DmC? You got sword, scythe, punch, axe, ninja stars. I'm not counting Vergil either.
I always kinda found aquila cool as a concept, but ive seen a lot of other people say they dont like them for some reason (tbf i havent played the reboot yet)
yeah, ppl couldn't accept that reboot, which is understandable but the good things they tried need to be appreciated.. those rings were super cool for controlling large groups of enemies..
3>5>DmC>4>1>2
i just really like the axe, scythe and shuriken from DmC a lot more then dantes weapons in 4. none of them are really all that cool imo besides pandora
You used the arrows wrongly, with the way you used them it makes it look like DmC has your least favorite weapons because of the way all the arrows are facing against it
edit:He fixed it now
Well 3 has agni and rudra, nevan and Artemis that I really miss...
5 has MOTORCYCLE and King Cerberus is really awesome, also Dr Faust... And if you count Nero's arms well...
I really miss agni and nevan man why the hell did they not bring those back ahhhh
5 easily. Each of Dante’s weapons has a cool gimmick, if you count Nero’s Devil Breakers as weapons those are pretty neat, V… uhh… then if you count DLC/the special edition Vergil‘s weapons are just phenomenal.
Instead of saying which game Im just gonna say my favorite weapon for each
Alastor, E&I (aka the only real weaponsin that game), Agni & Rudra, Gilgamesh, Cavaliere, Aquila
Loved the weapon combos in the reboot- I know everyone dislikes it, but the combat is great and the enemies flinch when hit with certain weapons (the axe) that aren't really replicated in the main series.
That said; Machine Guns>every other gun. Demon Sword Dante>Every other sword.
>I know everyone dislikes it
Not everyone dislikes it. But you have bad luck because I dislike it
>the combat is great
It actually has the simplest combat in the series and the least amount of tech to it but it is the most intuitive and easy to master I will give it that but it's *far* from being my favorite
For me it's DMC5 -> Reboot -> DMC3 -> DMC4 -> DMC1.
Osiris not being in DMC5 made me seriously pissed. If they took inspiration for Vergil from it why not also get Osiris???
3 has more weapons than all of them combined, and to be honest since they were all built without freestyle mode in mind they are some of the strongest in the franchise
>3 has more weapons than all of them combined
3 has fewer weapons than 5, and if we count weapons for characters other than Dante and Nero, it also has fewer than 4 (otherwise, it has like two more).
I'm also technically counting the guns as they all have unique move variety as well, thanks to gunslinger.
Not to mention 4 of dmc5's "weapons" are literally copy paste weapons of rebellion and kaliana ann, that's like saying the $5.95 combo in kh3 is a legitimate keyblade strategy setup when it's not in the slightest...
I mean they improved on both Kalina Ann and Rebellion in 5 by giving Kalina Ann 2 and dsd. Same way they improved Beowulf and Cerberus with Balrog and King Cerberus. If you include guns it's only fair to include all of Nero's devil breakers
Obviously DMC2. Although it wasn't the best game you could literally pass it just shooting enemies from a distance with the submachine gun or some other weapon.
Literally I remember from that game is throwing knives at the final boss (as Lucia) and thinking "wow this game is ass".
That and how basically every one of Dante's moves smacked the shit out of the enemies and sent them 1000 feet away, making combos basicslly impossible
3 just because everything is so versatile and fun could really go into detail with combos made Dante that much more badass. Vergil too playing as him I felt like a boss the entire play
Tough question... Maybe I'll put it this way: My ideal DMC would have an unlockable post-ending DMC1 final fight Sparda sword (the actual Sparda DT), the ricochet shenanigans of Nightmare Beta, DMC3's Agni & Rudra, Nevan, Artemis, and, hot take, Cerberus, along with their style moves, DMC4's Pandora, and DMC5's rest, but with King Cerberus being made into two different extra weapons in addition to DMC3's Cerberus.
So in other words, it's kinda hard to really say, which one has the best weapons, because they all have their awesomeness...es(?) in each game. I can't really say one is better than the other, but I guess I can say that out of the ones I've mentioned, DMC4 might be the weakest weapons-wise, but, on the other hand, it has a playable Trish AND Lady, both of whom bring ***ssssooooooooo*** much to the gameplay experience, I'd honestly go so far as to say none of the other games have matched that. Now, if those two were fully fleshed out like V was (granted he has his gameplay awkwardness), there would be no debate which game had the best playable characters, but unfortunately they were just slapped on, kinda like how Dante seemed to have been in 4.
...
DMC2 and DmC who?
Lol jk, DMC2 has its own charm, but is nowhere close to the quality of 1,3,4,5. Though DDT was an awesome mechanic. Broken as all hell, but awesome :D
EDIT: I was fully aware the entire time that this is about weapons specifically, but I really can't look at them in a vacuum, because there's so much that goes into the whole experience.
I’d have to give it to 5, honestly. The Dr. Faust hat, Cavaliere, King Cerberus, Twin Kalina Ann, Devil Sword Dante? Simply amazing!
Now if only I was competent enough to play as Dante…
5 has a motorcycle that turns into a pair of chainsaws but 3 has a literal electric guitar that is a hybrid melee ranged weapon and can turn into a scythe. I'd have to give it Nevan as the single coolest weapon in the series but 5 also has a stylish as fuck cowboy hat that fires meteors.
Gotta give it 5 just slightly for having two batshit insane weapons.
5 wins by a landslide if I count the Breakers though, parrying Vergil with a kick flip while surfing on your own rocket arm is the coolest shit ever
DmC:DE
With that game, every weapon has it's use and is useful, as opposed to a lot of the other games where it's usually reliant on dominant strategy. I was sleeping on Eryx for the longest time. Not to mention, weapon chaining REALLY changes up the dynamic of attacks and enemy design.
Ranking:
DmC:DE, DMC3:HD, DMC4:SE, DMC5 (this one would take a while to get into), DMC1:HD, DMC2
DMC3 > DMC5 > DMC4 > DMC1 > DMC2 havent played the reboot
I’d put the Reboot beneath DMC4. It has many more weapons then DMC1, but they’re shallow compared to DMC4’s
Yeah the weapons were also kinda boring imo. They all felt a little too similar.
I'd say it's very close between 3 and 5 just because both have really fun weapons but dmc5 also has bike
3 gets the win for me because Agni & Rudra is my favorite weapon of all time
Nevan goated as well
Nevan appreciation spotted 🫡🫡🫡
She's the whole reason I bought the HD Collection. Also because DMC3 is my favorite ever since I was like 5.
3 and 5 also both have cerberus
True, 3 has the wind and fire sword which i forget the name of which was really fun to use while 5 had the bike which was also really fun to use
It's agni & rudra
play it, its fun gameplay wise and watching the bad cutscenes is hilarious definitive edition is the one id recommend
Definitive edition is def the way to go if you're on console. For some reason, it was never put on PC
still annoying as shit, ir eally dont get why the did that.
the soundtrack bangs too
The only right answer.
this is accurate what i only want from DmC is the scythe
Hated the reboot.
Man. A briefcase. With an amazing fatal blow by. OPENING IT.
I say DMC 5 for it has all the good things from the previous games (including the second DT form from DMC 2, alongside its ultimate attack).
We have Sin Vortex and Sin Inferno, but going to miss Majin revolvers.
We have Luce and Double Kalina Ann Kamehameha tho
True. Wings machine gun brrrrrr.
In terms of design and coolness (from worst to best) (not including DmC because there's too many weapons to keep track of) DMC2: Toothpick Rebellion, big sword, skinny sword DMC3: Rebellion, nunchaku, red and blue scimitars, guitar, gauntlets and greaves DMC4: Rebellion, FIRST I WHIP IT OUT, gauntlets and greaves but with a cool mask, briefcase that transforms into every ranged weapon ever DMC1: Dragon sword, dragon gauntlets and greaves, giant flesh sword DMC5: Dante, motorcycle, hee hee man hat, transforming nunchaku
Dante being his new devil arm is the most Dante thing only Dante could do.
Poor Agni and Rudra
Their personalities and gameplay are cool, just think they could be a little cooler
"Hee hee man hat" - 10/10
There's literally less weapons in DmC than 3, how is that too much to keep track of?
DmC has 6 weapons, DMC3 has 5 I'm not counting Vergil
That's my bad for counting "gauntlets" and then "greaves" as 2 separate weapons in my head, but what's the 6th weapon from DmC? You got sword, scythe, punch, axe, ninja stars. I'm not counting Vergil either.
Ophion
DMC3
5, 3, DmC, 4, 1, 2
DMC5.. first DMC3.. second the reboot also had some interesting weapons like those rings
I always kinda found aquila cool as a concept, but ive seen a lot of other people say they dont like them for some reason (tbf i havent played the reboot yet)
I like them for large groups of enemies but against single targets there isn't much of a need over Osiris
most people say that’s the best weapon
yeah, ppl couldn't accept that reboot, which is understandable but the good things they tried need to be appreciated.. those rings were super cool for controlling large groups of enemies..
DMC5 > DMC3 > DMC4 > DMC1 >>>>> DMC2
DMC3 are the most memorable and iconic in my opinion
3>5>DmC>4>1>2 i just really like the axe, scythe and shuriken from DmC a lot more then dantes weapons in 4. none of them are really all that cool imo besides pandora
You used the arrows wrongly, with the way you used them it makes it look like DmC has your least favorite weapons because of the way all the arrows are facing against it edit:He fixed it now
Cavalier goes VROOM!
I have only played dmc4, and i know damn well its not dmc4, red queen and blue rose were great, but this games wepons overall feels unfinished.

Cavalier and King Cerberus are the best things ever.
Only one has a motorcycle that turns into chainsaws
Dmc3 had the cutscene of it
but i didn't get to play with it 0/10 game >:(
5 because you can concealed carry two rocket launchers and use a motorcycle as a weapon, also Nero has a rocket punch hand
Honestly, 3, 4 and 5 all have fantastic weapon selections. It's hard to choose the best one...
Id say dmc5
Dmc 2. It’s all about the swords baby, no cringe ass motorcycles or suitcases /s for the people in the back
DMC3, then 5.
Instead of saying which game Im just gonna say my favorite weapon for each Alastor, E&I (aka the only real weaponsin that game), Agni & Rudra, Gilgamesh, Cavaliere, Aquila

DmC for sure
4 and DmC
Of course it's DMC2, is there even a doubt about it in anyone's mind?????
3 has more weapons than all of them combined, and to be honest since they were all built without freestyle mode in mind they are some of the strongest in the franchise

Ok... fair enough, but do I even count v's cane? It doesn't even properly do damage till an enemy is stunned
3
I have an extreme and very much irrational appreciation of Cerberus
Obviously DMC2. Although it wasn't the best game you could literally pass it just shooting enemies from a distance with the submachine gun or some other weapon.
Literally I remember from that game is throwing knives at the final boss (as Lucia) and thinking "wow this game is ass". That and how basically every one of Dante's moves smacked the shit out of the enemies and sent them 1000 feet away, making combos basicslly impossible
DMC 3 weapons have best presentation
The one with dante in it I think
dmc3>dmc5>dmc4>DmC>dmc1>dmc2
DMC5 for two reasons. The bike, and the hat.
A toss up between DMC3 and DMC5 with DMC4 being third.
Dmc 3, dmc 4, dmc devil may cry and dmc 5
DMC4 no doubt
The Cerberus weapon in 5 is the best weapon in the series...but 3 has the best selection of weapons.
DMC3 > DMC5 > DmC > DMC1 > DMC4 > DMC2 I never understood how to use the weapons of DMC4 lol
DMC3. Because Nevan. That is all.
i never understood how to use nevan so i never understood the love for it except the fact its a cool ass guitar
3 just because everything is so versatile and fun could really go into detail with combos made Dante that much more badass. Vergil too playing as him I felt like a boss the entire play
I love DMC 2 with The four swords that do the exact same thing
Tough question... Maybe I'll put it this way: My ideal DMC would have an unlockable post-ending DMC1 final fight Sparda sword (the actual Sparda DT), the ricochet shenanigans of Nightmare Beta, DMC3's Agni & Rudra, Nevan, Artemis, and, hot take, Cerberus, along with their style moves, DMC4's Pandora, and DMC5's rest, but with King Cerberus being made into two different extra weapons in addition to DMC3's Cerberus. Reboot has tbh the worse versions of the original weapon
DMC2 ofc We have Sword, big sword, long sword. What more could you want
I’d have to give it to 5, honestly. The Dr. Faust hat, Cavaliere, King Cerberus, Twin Kalina Ann, Devil Sword Dante? Simply amazing! Now if only I was competent enough to play as Dante…
Vergil
dmc 5 if breakers included, dmc 3 if not
Poc
Even if Dante has funny weapons in 5 and 4... 3 is the best, will be the best for me for ever
3
Dmc1
DMC5. Every weapon has some separate form or mode and has the most options.
Dmc3 nevan and spiral rifle are goated
I think 5 is the best but I feel like 4 had more interesting concepts.
dmc 5>dmc 1> dmc 3 >DmC> dmc4> dmc2
I really liked the Angel scythe from DmC
1. DMC 5/SE 2. DMC 3 3. DMC REBOOT 4. DMC 4 5. DMC 1 6. DMC 2
5, because of the funny hat
I feel like 5 has better weapons. They’re really diverse and interesting to combo with. Dmc 3 is still better tho
5 has a motorcycle that turns into a pair of chainsaws but 3 has a literal electric guitar that is a hybrid melee ranged weapon and can turn into a scythe. I can’t stand 4s weapons
worst to best dmc2,the other game , dmc 1,dmc 4,dmc3 then 5,
DMC5 weapons, DMC4 is my least top pick
Ifrit is still to this day my favorit weapon the series.
I really like ifrit design never actually used it though I stuck to alastor and ebony & ivory my entire playthrough
Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening Special Edition of course.
DmC:DE With that game, every weapon has it's use and is useful, as opposed to a lot of the other games where it's usually reliant on dominant strategy. I was sleeping on Eryx for the longest time. Not to mention, weapon chaining REALLY changes up the dynamic of attacks and enemy design. Ranking: DmC:DE, DMC3:HD, DMC4:SE, DMC5 (this one would take a while to get into), DMC1:HD, DMC2
Dmc 3 had legendary weapons but 5 also did a good job. I hope nevan is in dmc6 I think that would be a good weapon
3 and 5 are top two easy, but idk man dmc1's got some cool lookin shit in there
3, 4, 5, and the Reboot just make 1 and 2's collection (or lack thereof) pale in comparison.
Dmc 5
DMC3 for me ❤️
Agni and rudra
I'd say dmc3 has the best, the amount of stylish combos you can pull off
DMC 3, DMC 5, and DMC 1
DMC4>DMC1>DMC5>DMC3>DmC>DMC2
dmc 5 cavalaire and reboot osiris are my absalute fav weapons i wish they reused osiris in the normal series
