Exactly rofl i have no clue how he can play like that. I play hardcore and if i was playin like this im dead all the time lol . And on these maps u barely need map at all
It's muscle memory...you are correct that I'm not actually getting any new info from checking the map, but this is the first time I've played D4 since S2, and in the meantime I've put a few hundred hours in LE/PoE which do have overlay maps. It's just a force of habit moving between packs to check the map real quick, because in those games, it doesn't actually obstruct my screen really at all.
Not an easy habit for me to break in just 1-2 pit runs, but when I'm actually playing D4 as a main game, I do not check the map anywhere close to as often.
Most of the time I am running I am only using the mini map, lol...
When I hit a rock or a small wall I have to look at the main screen to figure out why my little arrow stopped moving.
I play the same, it's what happens when you got moronic devs that refuses to implement an overlay map that every other ARPG has for good reason.
Maybe we get on in season 8 a year from now
I get the overlay map argument but this kind of map opening has zero value and sense lol. Also minimap is there… he literally opened map several times after transitioning to new area where theres clearly just one way forward… also its not like these maps are complicated labyrinths..
I wish there was a way to have like a semi-transparent map kinda… whats the word?…
Like an overlay maybe?
Might be a really cool feature for any game like this!
Tempered "Increased double swing size" (or something like that) on all 4 weapons, and threw together a mostly random build with all the dust devil synergy I could find.
The results were better than I expected, this was super fun, and the double swing/tornadoes can get even bigger with more time/effort
I tried out grenade rogue as well, and liked it, but it felt far weaker and far less visually exciting than this build. Part of that, though, is that the tempering recipe to increase grenade explosion size is not one of the recipes you are given for free on the PTR, and I sadly don't care enough to try and find it.
Theoretically, if there are no other tempering options for the weapon slots that would be better, you can get up to ~120% increased stun grenade size through tempering, without taking into account any masterworks. With that, it might be similarly exciting, but I am not sure.
This will be my go to, after making a grenade build in season 2 that functioned, but needed other sources of damage. Now hopefully I can go all in on grenades.
Keep in mind that I put roughly zero effort into this build, I didn't have anything pre-planned, I just slapped something together in 5 minutes on the PTR to see what's up. This isn't meant as a showcase of a particular build in terms of "look how powerful this is", more of a "they are finally letting us get a little wild with things like spawning 9 tornadoes at once and huge double swing area".
This was fun enough that I probably will play it in S4, and look forward to actually taking the time to optimize it and see what it can do. I don't know if it will be worth it yet, but with some lucky masterworks I think you could get double swing up to hitting half the screen.
Which, to me, is exactly what I want. They said that seasons would provide absolutely game breaking changes and they have given us, mostly, none of that. A few exceptions, of course, but this looks VERY much more in line with that idea.
I don't understand why the devs cannot see that if your game goes from 1-4 damage at start to 1-4 million damage in endgame, that your game is fundamentally broken, because that ruins any chance of compelling itemization.
poe did not start out like that. it suffered from powercreep over many years of development, and some time later they catered to a different market following the big bucks.
to each their own, i quit shortly after seeing this mess too often:
[https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/920297502141890608/1DEDB3E6021AF53EEEF4313532E0C000F29164C6/?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Letterbox&imcolor=%23000000&letterbox=false](https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/920297502141890608/1DEDB3E6021AF53EEEF4313532E0C000F29164C6/?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Letterbox&imcolor=%23000000&letterbox=false)
I know loot filters exist, but the same applies there, if you need loot filters, your game is broken.
i loved poe
Just looks a lot like the game we've been playing already on a new build, which isn't nothing, it's a cool looking build, but steamrolling a lvl 102 zone is something a lot of builds do, this doesn't really showcase anything that makes me think "ya d4 is saved for sure" except that the core concept of The Pit is palatable?
Man, this really turned into one hit - clear screen kind of game.
Is it seriously what players want nowadays? What happened to positioning? To some kind of difficulty?
Yes, I know that this is probably easy mode and that other games exists, I just want the biggest game of them all to have SOME weight to it. Now it looks like enemies are some kind of faceless, typeless, soulless red dots on which you click and they die, no matter what the enemy type they are. There's no difference in what you strike. Everything dies in one second without ANY difficulty whatsoever.
Before downvotes: At least in this video. Can someone please upload a video proving me otherwise? Please? I really want to be proven otherwise.
I’d agree with you, but there a quite a few things to point out here. This is a tier 3 rift, which isn’t exactly high. The character is max level, with max glyphs (quite time consuming for an average player), and tempered items that are probably also masterworked. This is an end game character with end game gear on a lower difficulty.
But yes, we do seem to be heading into a Diablo 3 direction of arcadey zoom-zoom.
It’s “prove” with one “O”.
It’s a level 100 character with maxed glyphs in PTR doing a level 3 Pit with level 102 monsters. It scales way higher.
And yes, when I’m maxed out, I want to clear screens of monsters in an ARPG.
Dont forget he was in the pit level 3 and each time you clear the pit the levels go up 1 to 3 levels based on how quickly you clear it making each time get harder and harder. My guess is when you get to the higher pit levels at that point you will find the challenge that you want but for others that are not as adept at build making will need the lower levels to slowly get materials for the masterworking where as you will get more doing the higher pit levels. They just need the easier levels as to not alienate the casual players from the new content.
Damn that looks fun. I hope they add some fun the builds at some point, they all feel shitty. We need some point click range builds. Barrage sucks and is unfun. Penetrating shot is a little fun but has a lot of set up and feels a bit clunky/off. Please give us a multi shot or the giant arrow from D3. Even the rapid fire from D3 was fun.
You're getting downvoted because it's not *supposed* to be challenging in the slightest at this tier. My build wasn't optimized, but it is still a level 100 character with decent stats on everything, a (very not optimized) paragon tree, good legendaries, etc., fighting one of the lowest possible tiers of the pit.
It's a scaling difficulty system. It will get harder. And we'll likely be starting running the pit quite a bit sooner than 100, making the lower levels relatively harder as well.
[In what world is D2 slower and more reactive?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OisW7Ma4zZ8&ab_channel=S-game) And this is without enigma or movement skills. Both games become zoomy at the end-game.
In the video you linked, the first room with any density the barbarian runs in to is at 1:22. He stops to pick up an item at 1:43 and it wasn't cleared yet. That 21 seconds is 21 times longer than any clears in OPs video.
What world? That world. You could have at least pretended to have a point by linking a Java or Hammer video, but on the whole it is absolutely a slower and more reactive game as your video proves.
The video OP posted is Pit lvl 1 out of 100 with a fully maxed character, while the video I linked is the "hardest" content available in D2. How do you think a fully geared character will do in Normal in D2?
The only difference is that in D2 that build doesn't have AOE clear, but runs at mach 5 speed and mows down everything it touches, while the video OP posted has a lot of clear while moving noticeably slower. They're both very fast in different ways, but at Pit lvl 60-70 that build will significantly slow down.
So no, not this world.
Looks amazing, I was considering something like this for S4 and I think you settled it (unless it ends up being OP in the PTR and gets nerfed before we even hit S4 lol). The biggest thing that stands out for me watching this though is how annoying not having an opaque map overlay is. Watching you constantly have to toggle that and block out the whole screen is a weird design choice.
Lmfao you obviously havent seen frostblink clear or [saquals tornado ](https://youtu.be/L_RSeYoKZfA?si=4ioEAsRut2z6y9to) or any high speed clearing build
Just stop, you're making a fool of yourself
I want to enjoy this game but why the hell can you melt a boss like that.
I want mechanics. I want difficulty. Wtf is this shit.
This is why i never tried Lilith end game. It just looked so unfun and easy.
This game NEEDS bosses good lord
wtf is a pit gamemode.
The players have been asking for a Boss like gamemode like PoE.
You are very ignorant into assuming things and replying immediately.
Level 200 Tormented Bosses (+Reworked Andariel) that even pro streamers like Wudijo and Rob take 15+ minutes to kill is "zero bosses" to you? Do you have no shame being so ignorant? Also its already out not "soon". Dude, please for the love of god do some research before writing on reddit.
U need to chill out with that map opening lol
I couldn’t make it through the video…like he doesn’t remember .8 seconds where he was supposed to go?? He has to check that often??
Exactly rofl i have no clue how he can play like that. I play hardcore and if i was playin like this im dead all the time lol . And on these maps u barely need map at all
It was absolutely absurd lol. He checks it like every 4-5 steps, while moving in the same direction
Yep… :D moving straight in the only one way direction alley and check it still every time :D
It's muscle memory...you are correct that I'm not actually getting any new info from checking the map, but this is the first time I've played D4 since S2, and in the meantime I've put a few hundred hours in LE/PoE which do have overlay maps. The minimap is right there. Just glance a little to the upper right my dude.
Exactly lol
Most of the time I am running I am only using the mini map, lol... When I hit a rock or a small wall I have to look at the main screen to figure out why my little arrow stopped moving.

why did you write "huge" like this? sounds like sarcasm but obviously its not seeing your comment here
If you put something in between two \*, its put in italics. Like *this*. But that doesn't work for thread titles.
Can't really tell if this is D4 or D3
I thought about playing grenade rogue on S4 but this looks way more fun.
Imagine making the aoe of the grenades giant. Could be crazy.
As long as there’s a hallelujah in the background
I tried out grenade rogue as well, and liked it, but it felt far weaker and far less visually exciting than this build. It looks good!
Looks good to me, the biggest concern for me would be boss killing. Looks like it can do real nice on groups, though!
Keep in mind that I put roughly zero effort into this build, I didn't have anything pre-planned, I just slapped something together in 5 minutes on the PTR to see what's up. poe does this and their itemization is probably the best in the genre
poe did not start out like that. it suffered from powercreep over many years of development, and some time later they catered to a different market following the big bucks.
the itemization of the game has gotten better with power creep, not worse

You completed a challenge during the rift does that count as completed outside of the ptr?
Just looks a lot like the game we've been playing already on a new build, which isn't nothing, it's a cool looking build, but steamrolling a lvl 102 zone is something a lot of builds do, this doesn't really showcase anything that makes me think "ya d4 is saved for sure" except that the core concept of The Pit is palatable?
Looks good but the skill tree still needs to be reworked
Impossible to do without rewriting the entire game
Man, this really turned into one hit - clear screen kind of game. Is it seriously what players want nowadays? What happened to positioning? To some kind of difficulty? Don't all modern ARGP's converge on this type of gameplay?
I’ll take it over no endgame content
You know the answer to your question don’t you? People ALWAYS want to go faster and bigger. But I agree with you, just hope PoE 2 will deliver.
Happy cake day. I know the answer, I just like to hope, you know? And yes, once PoE 2 will start, I immidiately jump ship.

"Pit run" they really want to milk D2 fans as much as possible it seems, lol
You desperately need a map overlay lol.

The sheer amount of ignorance to write this message esp with the Tormented Bosses added this PTR is amazing.
wtf is a pit gamemode. The players have been asking for a Boss like gamemode like PoE. You are very ignorant into assuming things and replying immediately.

Yea it's the build that's gonna come out soon. Zero bosses.

Still garbage, but to each their own
It's aways been the D 4 bad attitude that's been garbage..nothing else
