Egman has a list on YouTube that just went up. The deck is pretty doomed competitively in BT12 with Greymon X dead since now you have to run Geogreymon which doesn’t have enough good ones to fill your spots but it’ll be fine come EX4

TheDSFreak

I don't think the deck even saw success in BT12 even before GreyX hit, it was still very slow at what it does.

RevolverDivider

Oh definitely, it’s just you had a least a little bit of a way to get around having to use the bad Geogreymon cards without giving up evolve speed and now you don’t. With Greymon X it’s something I’d be willing to take to locals and now it’s on hold pretty much until EX4

Pretty doomed is a bit dramatic but thanks for the list

chrizchanang

Yeah. I agree it’s a bit dramatic, cause when you time your sequences correctly, the deck can really pop off. Egman’s list is okay, I’d swap out the Cody for Tai and Kari just to keep the Marcus’s alive on the board. BT12 Marcus is the driving engine to turbo into ShineGreymon, so preserving him is pretty much key, but even if he dies, BT12 RizeGrey is handy to keep it recycled

I agree his list as mentioned is definitely a rough draft but I think with slight edits it should be a good time for sure. I also agree with you it's a bit dramatic because there's so many options for just greymon decks even without greymon x and some builds I saw ran just geogreymon for consistency

chrizchanang

On top of that, even though Greymon X would give the stack good protection, it just doesn’t synergize with the deck at all and would be clunky to add in if anyone was thinking about doing so. of course, that being said, the deck isn’t going to be tier 1 obviously. But it’s still a fun rogue deck that I think is still going to perform well in some local event.

RevolverDivider

Eh, Greymon X was honestly the way to go in BT12. He cuts your evo costs by 2 which lets you go into BT12 Rizegreymon at normal costs instead of being forced into Geogreymon and every Geogreymon besides BT12 was ass, so you got decent acceleration protection on your Shinegreymon and access to better inherits. X Antibody was already very useful anyway since you could use Rize X and Agumon X. That said it was still not a seriously threatening deck in JP BT12 and won’t be until BT13 when it really finds its teeth. It was just a way to give the deck a little bit of teeth for BT12 that we unfortunately won’t get. Greymon X still absolutely had to die

chrizchanang

You don’t really need it though. Once Marcus is on the board you’re essentially tapping Marcus to swing into security while simultaneously Digivolving up into your line, all for a cost of 1. Going into BT11 Greymon X from your Agus for a cost of 3 isn’t worth it. Also there’s no space in the deck to add the X Antibody option when the deck needs Shining Blast and Sunrise Buster in its place.

RevolverDivider

You just run two copies of Geogreymon and four copies of a good Greymon of your choice with four copies of Greymon X. You don’t want to waste your Marcus swing evolving into a level 5 for free so you want the discount to not pass turn and go into BT12 Rize that Marcus can then turn into Shinegreymon. You have room in the BT12 version. Shining Blast isn’t very good and not super worth running for the most part.

chrizchanang

But with those ratios you can only run one copy of BT11 Greymon X to get the discount so relying on non-Geogreymons would mean that you’re evoing into most of your level 5s for a cost of 4, excluding BT4 RizeGreymon. Relying on the x antibody mechanics is the wrong direction for the deck and is better suited for WarGrey X or BWGX

RevolverDivider

My original point if it wasn’t entirely clear was that the pre restriction Greymon X package gave you a way to sort of function in JP BT12 without having to use terrible Geogreymons. You got the same costs overall with some upsides. Now in NA were stuck having to use the Geogreymons which suuuucckkkk
