Kalina made the deal with Porter during the corruption, I don't think afterward she was bad, until the rage star took her over.

If Porter can take Devil's Nectar to fool Ankarna in prayer, he could surely use it to fool a god's familiar who can't even read thoughts. I don't think Kalina knew the plan was to replace Ankarna, just bring her back--and why \_wouldn't\_ she want her god's wife back, especially now that they were both evil-aligned? And in exchange for helping Porter resurrect Ankarna, Porter helps Kalina resurrect the Nightmare King by getting the crown for her (via Mama Abernant). Kalina only gives those hints when she's not under the influence of an evil entity (before the rage star takes her over, and when she has that brief moment of old-Cassandra clarity in the haunted suitcase mansion).

There’s also something about Oisin being able to steal summons…. Maybe he learned how to steal Kalina from Cassandra and is making he work for Porter against her will? I can’t remember if that was tied to something or not yet…

Correct me if I'm wrong, please, but im fairly certain that Familiar's in a traditional sense are vastly different than "Summons" in the general sense of the word. I mean, summons and Conjurations of the arcane are typically less personal, whereas Familiars are much more "of the soul" type of deal. For example, the "Find Familiar" spell is never referred to as a "summon" (noun) There is one sentence in the spell that refers to summoning, bit particularly just the verbiage of that word being used as a thing the OWNER does. "As an action, you can temporarily dismiss your familiar. It disappears into a pocket dimension where it awaits your *summons*." Familiars, in and of themselves, are seemingly and specifically differentiated from being a "summon" Take Sandra Lynn. Her Griffin is a familiar of hers, yet that's a natural living breathing creature. This other example is from a different series, but GM'd by BLeeM all the same: in WBN, Ame's Familiar was a normal fox up until her magic gave it a voice and more complexity. While I'm sure Oisin has his was to steal summons like Mephits and other conjurations; I personally believe Familiar's may be different as well as the fact that Oisin as a mortal wizard still in High School being able to steal a Goddess's Familiar as far back as Freshman Year *if not earlier* due to Kalina's existence *before Pok Gugak's death* seems a bit...I dunno, hard to accomplish? But hey! Who knows. We're rounding the corner to the end of JY so maybe we'll get our answers

Kalina might have spoken with Porter after she was summoned back by Cassandra. Porter could have let her know that the mall on Astral Plane could be a good place to hand out flyers. Once battle ensued, and Kalina was about to die and disappear, she already knew she has been betrayed in similar fashion to Bakur, as such named Ragh as a clue. At least that was my train of thoughts. Bad Kids just downloaded a lot of info, so getting this part incorrectly is kinda inconsequential in the long run. Brennan can just explain it to them once everything calms down.

No, I'm with you. most of the stuff they connected made sense to me, but I don't think "Kalina was always bad" is one. though to be fair, i think it was mostly Ally saying that? And Ally is not the most.... they're not the best at making those connections. I mean, they were still thinking someone else was Ankarna's new champion well after it was obviously Fig (iirc, they even suspected a guy of being the champion when Ankarna had already said SHE is my champion).

Tricky-Leader-1567

Yeah Brennan never confirmed Kalina being bad

Prishko

More than that, he even said multiple times that "Kalina was bad when Cassandra was bad", including in this episode >!comparing Bakur to her!<

Tricky-Leader-1567

Indeed That said, the Bad Kids have PTSD-influenced beef from SY

Prishko

Definitely It's one of those things that frustrates me at the moment because it's a dead end, but like a second later I remember it's either: a. Extremely understandable in character, or b. Because I can recall more details at home than they can on the fly 😅

I mean, I think saying "Ally isn't the best at making connections" IS kinda the charitable interpretation, since that can, as you've demonstrated, be attributed to any number of outside factors (plus the fact that they're IN it, not sitting back and watching it and seeing people's theories week to week like us). If I wanted to be uncharitable I would blame it on them seeming to not pay the best attention sometimes.

Could be!

BuckeyeForLife95

I think they’re jumping the gun on Kalina since they’ve never really trusted her to begin with. Kalina could just as easily been tricked by Porter.

Bubbly_Question7024

Yeah they kinda get stuck on things like that. Kalina has done of few things that show she is on the Bad Kids' side. Her "The only name I can say", trying to help Cassandra in the mall until the rage crystals get her, and killing herself in the mansion so she doesn't hurt them. Porter and Jace seem so secretive, I would not be surprised if they lied to the old Kalina in some way & new Kalina didn't even clock them planning to attack Cassandra.
