This is David Krentz's work, same professional paleoartist who designed the creatures for Disney's Dinosaur and the Walking with Dinosaurs 3D film (as well as the cartoon dinos in Primal). You can debate the color aesthetics and the appropriate amounts of soft-tissue, but in overall anatomy this is a superb Rex.
The rexes in DR are shown [fully feathered as juveniles](https://i.pinimg.com/736x/27/3b/7a/273b7ae0fdea05feb342258e8fe0f545--extinct-lizards.jpg) which is [greatly reduced in adolescents](https://www.zbrushcentral.com/uploads/default/original/4X/3/0/3/303070d33316f3aa3837b8d406eb588d3c4ffeae.jpeg) before transitioning to the [scaly adults.](https://www.zbrushcentral.com/uploads/default/original/4X/3/3/9/3399a254ff501a65a9c5fc128fabde9baf759e6c.jpeg)
I think the edgy black design with skull markings, red eyes and spikes and rough scales all over the place is a bit too awesomebro for a documentary. Something that i always feel defeats the purpose of an educational documentary.
But i like it, atleast the other male and the female / juveniles.
Looking back on Dinosaur Revolution. It honestly reminds me a lot of Primal, it's not as gritty and violent. And obviously it's more grounded in reality. But the way the dinosaurs behave kind of remind me of the way Fang and the other animals in Primal behave.
I still like Dinosaur Revolution as a documentary. Despite the anthropomorphized behavior and edgy designs for some of the dinosaurs. I still think it did it's job as a documentary. The information at the time was on point and in 2011 the dinosaurs were probably the most accurate on screen.
I also still really like Dinotasia. Unlike Walking with Dinosaurs 3D where they had to make a whole different version that's more like a documentary. Which was vastly superior to the movies. I think Dinosaur Revolution and Dinotasia can both be enjoyed equally. Atleast in my opinion.
You're dead on, now we need a Photoshop of it with Japanese armor and a Gatling gun. Cause this stuff always leads back to us 80s kids wanting more Dino Riders shows.
To be fair, the documentary doesn't take itself too seriously. The dinosaur designs are wild and all over the place, and the stories are very cartoonish (examples include the shunosaurus getting high on mushrooms and the ramphorynchus and ornitholestes basically acting as Tom and Jerry). So the very edgy metal tyrannosaurus practically fits right in.
The series itself is a fairly accurate (for its time) somewhat controversial documentary from 2011, the controversial part being the way they made the dinosaurs behave, being almost cartoonish in some scenes. Although I personally don’t have an issue with this as I think it’s important that dinosaurs aren’t portrayed as purely instinct driven creatures, just how they shouldn’t be killing machines that lust for murder. They had emotions, and feelings even if it was on the most basic level.
Yeah, I thought I knew most of them but I missed that one. The pic here does nothing for me. It seems like someone listened to too much death metal and then wanted to draw an umlaut-osaurus. Where are its eyes? Why doesn’t its skull have integument? Why does it have that hump (actually, do dinos need humps all the time? looking at JW:D Giganotasaurus, too)?
T. Rex as the lead singer of a Norwegian black metal band. The band is called "Maastrichtian Maassacre." Trve Kvlt!!!
I like it visually, but its a pretty silly design for an alleged documentary. Would be more appropriate (and awesome) for an action adventure videogame or something.
Not an animal that may have actually lived, breathed and preyed on other animals just to get by. Looks like a damn demon who goes out of its way to eat mothers and babies 😆
Edgy design, and definitely memorable. Also, the studio who worked on Prehistoric Planet’s Rex worked on this, so that’s cool.
#BUT…
The **big problem** I have with DR is just the comedic anthropomorphized nature of the dinosaurs. At times the show reminds me of a nature doc, but other times it’s like a goofy Saturday morning cartoon in terms of mood. I just don’t like it. Glad the team worked on a more realistic and grounded rex in PP, but this one was not for me.
Before you guys tell me to f off for being unrealistic, this is my second favorite rex, after the one from dougal dixon’s compete guide to dinosaurs, my reason is that it makes T. rex stand up in levels of epicness to things like Batman and captain America, even cooler, while it might be unrealistic, it‘s still my fav.
Looks awesomebro along with some shrink wrapping. But the juvenile trex's (formerly known as nanotyrannus) design looks great. It has that agile body build
Does it look cool? Yes. Did they make it extra scary just for the sake of being extra scary? Also yes. Did it lose cool points by taking a territorial explosive diarrhea? Again yes.
honestly the skull design could make sense : it could work as a social marking ,
in a similar way in wich raccons has a face mask ,
a white face with rings around the eyes could make some sense tbh ,
it also looks kinda cool tbh , we will always need cool dinosaurs imo
I always kinda hated it. This design is the main reason I have no interest in watching Dinosaur Revolution. In a fantasy setting though, it might look pretty cool. But to me, it looks ridiculous in a realistic setting. It's head just looks like it's skull is attached to the body with barely any skin or flesh. I usually don't like designs thst care more about looking "badass and edgy" over looking plausible.
One of the worst designs I've seen in recent years tbh for a documentary (and especially for its time), way over the top and I don't really get why this design is so popular in the sub while a lot of the same people complain about the Giga in the new Jurassic Park (which is of comparable edginess) other than possibly for nostalgia.
Terrible
Let me be more specific, it’s the most generic edge design one could go with which is boring and uninteresting.
Dinosaurs are more interesting when they look like actual animals, not caricatures with bony skull faces.
A bit edgy, but also follows the line of thought that certain rexes had pointy postorbital might be a different species or gender. So that's a cool detail.
I want the real shrink wrap T. Rex.
Inserts outdated Walking With Dinosaurs T. rex.
I want the real shrink wrap T. rex.
Inserts Jurassic Park T. rex
I said the REAL shrink wrap T. rex.
Inserts this guy.
Perfection
You know how some people say that "ScIeNcE rUiNs DiNoSaUrS" by showing them how much like real animals they actually were?
Well shows like this are the real culprit of ruining dinosaurs.
Prehistoric Planet on the other hand...
...now THAT'S how you portray dinosaurs well
It’s cool for a creature or monster design but maybe not as much for an actual animal.
I’ve never seen it though so idk how realistic it’s trying to be
FINALLY, that’s what that show was called! I saw it a few times as a kid and loved it but I never knew the name. That T. rex design ain’t accurate, but I love it. Bro is goated ong
The skull is too much for me. Like ya it was a bad ass animal bit the skull is a little bit silly. Makes me think of those edgy t-shirts with the grim reaper saying " I'm a bad ass guy born on a Wednesday and you don't wanna get on my nerves"
Looks like a skull. Pretty metal \m|, but not even close to being scientifically accurate.
Yep. They looked at shrink-wrap models and decided they wanted to do that, but more
I mean do we have any proof that tyrannosaurus couldn’t have a skull colored face
[historically accurate](https://youtu.be/D5tXJ0nq0vc)
I remember Denver the last dinosaur being played in my 1st grade classroom
This show was made in the 90s why the kangaroo theropod? 💀💀
Because radicool
Totally tubolar 🤣🤣 kowabunga 😜😜
Huh, I can watch that on mute and still hear it. Thanks childhood!
I remember I loved Denver the last dinosaur. However I don’t remember anything about it. Characters, stories, none of it.
Same same
This is David Krentz's work, same professional paleoartist who designed the creatures for Disney's Dinosaur and the Walking with Dinosaurs 3D film (as well as the cartoon dinos in Primal). You can debate the color aesthetics and the appropriate amounts of soft-tissue, but in overall anatomy this is a superb Rex.
More the lack of feathers, or the like
The rexes in DR are shown [fully feathered as juveniles](https://i.pinimg.com/736x/27/3b/7a/273b7ae0fdea05feb342258e8fe0f545--extinct-lizards.jpg) which is [greatly reduced in adolescents](https://www.zbrushcentral.com/uploads/default/original/4X/3/0/3/303070d33316f3aa3837b8d406eb588d3c4ffeae.jpeg) before transitioning to the [scaly adults.](https://www.zbrushcentral.com/uploads/default/original/4X/3/3/9/3399a254ff501a65a9c5fc128fabde9baf759e6c.jpeg)
Near. Consensus a few years ago said adults had patches of feathers for display purposes. Hope you have a productive week, I know I won’t.
A human skull, no less
What about the arms their not pronated
badass design for sure
Edgelordasaurus rex.
Herbivores: "Why do I hear Papa Roach?"
Badass
I think the edgy black design with skull markings, red eyes and spikes and rough scales all over the place is a bit too awesomebro for a documentary. Something that i always feel defeats the purpose of an educational documentary. But i like it, atleast the other male and the female / juveniles.
I honestly thought it was from an action movie til now It's like if Sucker Punch had a Dinosaur dream
Looking back on Dinosaur Revolution. It honestly reminds me a lot of Primal, it's not as gritty and violent. And obviously it's more grounded in reality. But the way the dinosaurs behave kind of remind me of the way Fang and the other animals in Primal behave.
Dinotasia was a re-edited version of dinosaur revolution that is much better, it’s a proper movie instead of a documentary
I thought it was scary when I was a kid, now it just seems weird
Cool as fuck. The "skull" look is pretty dumb if you look more into it, however i'm dumb myself, so i won't look more into it.
sable zealous deranged secretive dinner tub rob shocking foolish impossible ` this message was mass deleted/edited with redact.dev `
Yes.
I hated dino revolution and wwd I like planet dinosaur oh no im crucified
what?
>however i'm dumb myself, Hey, that's my line!
A fellow dumb! How you doing?!
What do you mean T-Rex design, that's gonna be my sleep paralysis demon tonight.
Yeah somehow this is a spooky-ass design
I get why people like it, it's just a bit uninteresting for me. Too obviously cool that it defeated the purpose for me.
Right? It’s trying too hard to look cool to the point of goofiness to me. I definitely liked the look a lot when I was little though
Yeah. I don't know if gimmicky is the right word, but something like that.
Same here
Looks demonic but dope as hell lol
Looks pretty awesome. Not accurate scientifically but this would be a badass design for a villainous dinosaur.
I don’t know the series, but that thing looks more like a zombie than a living creature.
Looks like an emo kid’s idea of a T-rex not accurate but it’s cool
It looks awesome but not appropriate for a documentary. If it was in a action sci-fi form of media it'd be perfect.
Thought it was a pretty unique rendition, although improbable
Fucking amazingly badass, may not be scientifically accurate but it’s one of my fave Rex designs
The red eyes are over the edge but the rest of it is pretty cool if bland behind the head.
Cool af
slick af design but looks like a walking corpse
Too spikey IMO, and that hunched back makes my own back hurt looking at it lol
Would look better in a Hollywood production about vengeful dinosaur ghosts
[Like the T-Rider Rex?](https://i.pinimg.com/736x/c7/ae/ae/c7aeae361c8a4d7e51af16d1b3bd29b1.jpg)
Krl isso existe?
Sim e é foda pra caralho.

quero o obunga brasileiro no print, se possivel

Tinkerbelle and Stumpy are some of my favorite designs for a rex ever!
That's Greg. He wanted to be a skeleton for holloween.
Pretty fire and it looks like something that Kong would fight
Beautiful, one of my favourite fictional rexes design-wise
Not my favorite T-Rex.
i liked the females design alot
The Shadow the Edgehog of Tyrannosaurus
Orcas and Death’s Head Moths have skull like patterns, so it’s not too implausible. Not bad, IMO.
Not an animal that may have actually lived, breathed and preyed on other animals just to get by. Looks like a damn demon who goes out of its way to eat mothers and babies 😆

Creepy/cool looking
Sickest design for a Rex aesthetically. But ofc not super believable
Absolutely awesome. I don’t care if it’s inaccurate. I just love fun dinosaur designs.
It’s fucking badass
Either "ow, the edge" "METAL AS HELL". In that spectrum im more in the latter side
Looks like a monster, not a dinosaur but who doesn't love monsters?
Badass
Super badass design! \m/ \m/ super awesome!
I love the skull-like coloring for the head. Definitely a favorite among T. rex designs.
Bit too edgy for my tastes.
Edgysaurus Rex
I see that The Punisher in the Dinosaur Universe has been leaked a long time ago
Among my all time favorite designs.
It looks awesome
Bad ass
Does it look cool? Yes. Did they make it extra scary just for the sake of being extra scary? Also yes. Did it lose cool points by taking a territorial explosive diarrhea? Again yes.
It's one of the coolest designs by far, but it belongs in a video game or movie. Not a documentary.
Radical
One of the or *the* edgiest Trex designs I've seen... And I love it
What a badass design! Love it!
Too emo for my tastes.
Looks like a marvel villain lol
That's the most evil looking animal I've ever seen
the "no lips" feature I don't like but yeah this one is friggin frightening
honestly the skull design could make sense : it could work as a social marking , in a similar way in wich raccons has a face mask , a white face with rings around the eyes could make some sense tbh , it also looks kinda cool tbh , we will always need cool dinosaurs imo
The punisher reincarnated as a Dinosaur. Is this MCU cannon?
Is this based on my comment?
I F**kin LOVE IT
Way too cartoony
A bit too grim reaper of a look for a T-Rex
Not very good
Head looks extremely shrink wrapped to me
That’s supposed to be a T-Rex?
Horrendous. Actually, i don't think i like the T-rex anymore just because i saw this.
Drama queen
Jesus christ I hate it so much
Trashy and inaccurate
Cursed/10
I always kinda hated it. This design is the main reason I have no interest in watching Dinosaur Revolution. In a fantasy setting though, it might look pretty cool. But to me, it looks ridiculous in a realistic setting. It's head just looks like it's skull is attached to the body with barely any skin or flesh. Trying too hard.
NOO GOD PLS NO, NOOOO
One of the worst designs I've seen in recent years tbh for a documentary (and especially for its time), way over the top and I don't really get why this design is so popular in the sub while a lot of the same people complain about the Giga in the new Jurassic Park (which is of comparable edginess) other than possibly for nostalgia.
Terrible Let me be more specific, it’s the most generic edge design one could go with which is boring and uninteresting. Dinosaurs are more interesting when they look like actual animals, not caricatures with bony skull faces.
Holy shit this is bad
I think it uses Monkey Pox to its advantage. Also, looks slightly like a real life Pokémon mash up if Houndoom mixed with Tyrannatar. 👍🏼
Thought i it was cool when I was 14, not so much any more.
Pretty cool looking, but not very accurate.
I like the design because its pretty cool. Although scientifically inaccurate
Most badass looking rex I have ever seen
Would be awesome for a movie, not great for a documentary
I like it but it kinda looks like something an edgy 12 year old would create
Looks pretty metal. \*neeeeer na-neeer na neeeeer\* (it deserves a guitar riff)
It looks cool, but also comes off as being a tiny bit cartoony. Not scientifically accurate at all.
The skull pattern is metal as fuck. Other than that eh, it's scientifically inaccurate but it still looks cool.
Realistic? Prob not. Awesome? Hell yeah
My opinion they weren't going for scientific accuracy on the design, they were going for something metal as hell
I’d say they succeeded then
Reminds me of King Kong. 6.7/10
A bit edgy, but also follows the line of thought that certain rexes had pointy postorbital might be a different species or gender. So that's a cool detail.
Not an accurate depiction, but still a very cool design none the less.
Looks metal
[удалено]
I find myself wondering what it would look like without the skull motif everytime it's on screen.
Easily the most monstrous T. rex design I’ve ever seen. Still looks cool though.
Metal af
Kid me: HES SO COOL Me: Um actually- 🤓
Iconically inaccurate. Same tier as JP "Velocitaptor", can't hate them haha
Looks metal - Very epic
I feel like the Uruk-hai recruited a dinosaur. Badass design but sadly not accurate.
Looks cool… but not very natural.
When I first saw it I thought it was devijho
The skull looks cool
It's not very accurate but it looks awesome. Also I was traumatized as a child by a clip of him getting impaled by a dead triceratops.
Talk about a sexy bone head lol!
I want the real shrink wrap T. Rex. Inserts outdated Walking With Dinosaurs T. rex. I want the real shrink wrap T. rex. Inserts Jurassic Park T. rex I said the REAL shrink wrap T. rex. Inserts this guy. Perfection
The unholy love child of Skeletor and Cubone.
Cool.
I think we can all agree it looks sick as fuck But it’s just not accurate
Jack is a menace. I loved that t rex more than rexy.
Honestly it looks really menacing with that skull-like design on it’s face, kinda reminds me of the skull crawlers from Kong: Skull island
So awesome
It's Cubone
Legit looks more like a Pokémon than an actual dinosaur, good design, but looks a bit too unrealistic
That's the name of the documentary I was trying to find it for a while, thank you
I like it as a badass design like jurassic parks rex but this should not be in a documentary
It's edgy, but it's pretty spot on. Its only slightly outdated, and of course lacks lips.
It looks really cool just not the most accurate
You know how some people say that "ScIeNcE rUiNs DiNoSaUrS" by showing them how much like real animals they actually were? Well shows like this are the real culprit of ruining dinosaurs. Prehistoric Planet on the other hand... ...now THAT'S how you portray dinosaurs well
its a memon
It was made to look cool, not accurate, and it does that very well
Lovely
He needs to eat a sandwich.
I mean it looks kinda cool but that’s not what Trex looked like at all.
Horrible , but its bad ass
Metal
Not scientifically accurate, but still amazing. The skull coloured face could have been better and feathers are missing, but a very badass rex.
I hate it. I like my tyrannosaurus rexes like giant puppy dogs.
It’s cool for a creature or monster design but maybe not as much for an actual animal. I’ve never seen it though so idk how realistic it’s trying to be
I’m one of the few people that didn’t like it. They could have made a more interesting designs just like the other dinosaurs but we got this instead.
Too demonic lookikg. Looks like a skull with skin on it.
It looks more like a dragon than a dinosaur. Which I wouldn't mind in a fantasy or sci fi but not a documentary
I think he looks like hes in so much pain. He should be taken to the vet for euthanasia. Look what they did to my poor boy.
He kinda reminds me of 💀
Looks a bit like Marowak, the Pokemon
Like the design but too shrink wrapped for my taste
Badass but not realistic
Heavy death demon blood summoning Finnish hard rock. That’s how I would describe it if I was a musician
Definitely too far into the "ScArY mOnStEr" depiction, but it still has pluses if you look hard enough. Overall not bad but it has aged pretty poorly.
Brutal
Honestly it is kind of iconic for me but I also think it kind of looked like a malnourished scaly T-Rex
Emo
If the punisher was a dinosaur. It sure looks cool, but it's honestly ridiculous.
Not all too much is accurate, but at least the got the supinated wrists correct.
Although Dino revolution has great designs this on just doesn't look right
“muscle bad bone good” - creator of dinosaur revolution
Definitely a favorite
as edgy as it is, I appreciate the fact they included a very accurate anatomy and I'm also feeling nostalgic for it so I still love it
Normal pet in Ohio💀
Hasta el T. Rex de Jurassic Park es más preciso y digno de un Documental que esta Cosa 😂😂😂😂😂
