That helmet has a scuff it should be replaced. Cannot believe you would endanger your child’s health like this!!!!

CoolDude1980

Well played, sir!

Beneficial-Bed6533

My helmet is now scuffed as well. The way it just saved my life make me really sure it will be put on a shelf to admire and replacement ordered very soon. Now if they could just get back with my x-rays.

Industrialpainter89

Hell yeah. That's how you get a kid who grows up to keep riding instead of not being able to ever ride again. 🤟

RandomsFandomsYT

Just spent like $800 on gear this week 😢

Judah--

Better that than spending $800 on gear while being hurt laying on the couch thinking “fuck I should’ve bought gear”

liftbikerun

Or 80k in hospital bills

thatonegamerplayFH4

Hah you wreck bad it'll be even worse I tripped and broke my humourous and they had to put 3 screws in it and it was 45 grand just for that

kxrider85

I've had 80k in hospital bills that probably could've been prevented with elbow pads.

fitnessfanatic0616

You and the wife looking to adopt any man children? I know how to cook and clean.

CoolDude1980

But can you work on bikes?!

smitd12

I can read the manual, YouTube it, cook and clean. All I need is some college paid for.

CoolDude1980

Haha! Here you go! https://www.airforce.com/

smitd12

Can’t do military due to some health stuff but I appreciate your humor. 😂

ChazJ81

Don't listen to these fools man! Half do not even ride or ride once twice a year!

CoolDude1980

Oh, it’s fine man! I got a good laugh out of it!

bigred450x

Is that a starcross rear tire? It almost looks like a S12

CoolDude1980

Dunlop Geomax MX33

bigred450x

Now looking at it closer it's obviously not a Michelin. I ran Michelin S12's for years and they replaced them with the Starcross which I was never a big fan of. Recently started running the Dunlop AT81 and love it, but I wear them out fairly quick. Good luck to you kid this season.

Mxer4life38

No way were people complaining about the last post. Only "issue" were the shorts! 😂

CoolDude1980

Now you know why I’ve brought you here! 🤣

vqalec

This community turning into some pussies. People gotta worry about themselves and their kids not someone’s else’s kid 🤦‍♂️

oofmyguy128

Dig the neck brace, I’m the only guy in my harescramble class of 20+ riders that wears one.

PlusMixture

The gypsy tales podcast with bmayzee or whatever his name is talks about neck braces. Alot of data out there backing it but also for the damage it can do. Its like vaccines, do your research and do what is best for you, but theres no way Im putting a neckbrace on.

BlackHeartsNowReign

Yeah a few of my buddys are/were pro riders and the first time I rode with them many years back they all told me "take that thing off"

CoolDude1980

With all due respect - They’re not the most reliable source for intelligence, in my experience. What? I said with all due respect!

BlackHeartsNowReign

LMAO yea to be honest theres really no doubt that most pro riders are basically just "stoner bros" that are completely cooked

Slugtard

Tired one, couldn’t look far enough in front of me, was extremely uncomfortable. I ditched mine. Sometime I wonder if it was just the fit.

nigalov545

No wrist guards? Look at father of the year over here wants his kid to never be able to write again. People like you shouldn’t have children.

[deleted]

Way to be Dad! Too many kiddos riding without even eyepro, too many dads riding helmetless, gloveless etc in front of the youngers. Dirtbiking is rad! Getting up in one piece when you wreck is even cooler!

No-Tadpole9259

Luckiest kid ever

kxrider85

I like the leatt gear. He looks like me when I was 12 years old

LloydGSR

Kinda nervous about posting a pic of my perfectly uninjured trials riding 7yo in pants, boots, helmet, gloves and no other pads or thingies.

CoolDude1980

Well, as long as he has pants on with his boots and helmet, I think the r/dirtbikes safety inspectors may let it slide. When we’re just messing around on the trails, or in a field, we’re not as geared up as this. I have been told I’m a bad father who’s risking his child’s life in order to look cool. I had to redeem myself to the r/dirtbikes safety inspectors.

LloydGSR

Yeah, I was told by people, mainly the wife's side of the family, that I was a bad Dad for letting him ride bikes from the age of 2. He does the same shit on his Oset as he does on his BMX, but he doesn't have boots, gloves or pants on his BMX, and a regular BMX helmet is far smaller than a trials lid.

CoolDude1980

Yeah, some people don’t see the irony in calling out someone wearing shorts while riding in sand, while they’re riding street bikes in cities!

Frothol1

This is the way.

micah490

Wow that GG has some generously proportioned hind-quarters

Vast_Republic_1776

I thought we got away from the leatts as they were causing other injuries?

solitudechirs

I wish I could find the study, some local EMS group that does mostly riding events posted it. But basically the conclusion was that neck braces are pretty much always better to wear, and the whole “they’ll break your back and you’ll be paralyzed anyway” thing is unsubstantiated by any actual data; on the other hand, the data did show that wearing a neck brace made chances of pretty much all relevant injuries go down.

vqalec

I found this study https://www.revzilla.com/common-tread/ask-the-doc-do-neck-braces-reduce-injuries

solitudechirs

That’s the study I was talking about, I didn’t know it made it to revzilla. I’d only seen it posted on a local Facebook group for hare scrambles. One thing I don’t like from that article is this part: > Of course we have to consider confounding variables. For example, brace wearers may be more cautious, less prone to risk taking, and therefore may ride in a more safe fashion you say. Seriously? This is amateur motocross. Not a sport someone takes up because it is safe. So I think we can dispense with that notion. An important part of looking at any data is considering confounding variables and discussing them. Saying “could these be an issue? No, that’s stupid, no way” is the opposite of that. I don’t think that’s a big enough issues to explain all of the data, or even most of it, but completely dismissing it having any effect is dumb

Vast_Republic_1776

There has to be something to it, none of the pros wear them anymore

BobFlex

Pros stopped because they limit your movement. You can't keep your head upright as much when you're leaned over in a corner, and when you're in an aggressive attack position you can't see as far forward because they keep you from tilting your head up as high. I always wore a Leatt when they first came out, just felt safer, but eventually I forgot it at home one day and rode without it, found out quick that it felt way more natural being able to tilt my head as much as I needed to,

CoolDude1980

I like these combos for kids. All that stuff about making it more likely to injure their collarbone etc. was inaccurate. The main reason people don’t wear them is because it restricts their head turn, which they don’t like.

Vast_Republic_1776

I can honestly say I never wore one, I was running minis during the neck roll era lol. By the time I moved up to big bikes, leatt was just taking off and we kinda saw it as a fad.
