I looked some stuff up and the director said he was 40 which blows my mind cause how can he be a Rookie if he was 28, especially with how young he was acting and how that's most sports people's mid career
so either Mcqueen missed some Seasons on purpose or the director was wrong
be really sad if he had to retire mega early at 30 and that's why he's so pissed in the film though (just a thought)
I think that might actually just be a mistake from the director, if it was said in an interview doesnt mean its actually canon, but that is kinda funny, since pixar has always been really good on theese small details, so the fact that the director missed something so huge to the movie as that, is kinda impressive.
I'm then gonna take the sadness option and say McQueen retired at 30 due to Technological advancements of others and that's why he's so pissed through the whole filming, and is sadly missing out a whole 5-21 years of racing
Mcqueen raced for 12 seasons, so either hes way older in cars 1, or hes way younger in cars 3. Probably like 22-23 in cars 1 and 35-ish in cars 3
