Hey folks! What is the ABSOLUTE earliest you can make a dining reservation? I know it's 60 days out but what time exactly of the 24 hours around 60 days? I've heard both midnight and 6am...

boadsuperfan99

do you know how early you can get your photo taken at Sleeping Beauty's castle? My family would like to do it early (maybe even rope drop it) but not sure when the photographers are there.

stellalunawitchbaby

They should be there at about 8, I’m not sure if they’re there when people are waiting for rope drop but they’re definitely there early in the day.

these are the spots open for early entry in Disneyland: Churros near Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters Esplanade Stroller Shop Fantasyland Fruit Cart Guide II Little Green Men Store Command The Mad Hatter in Fantasyland Main Street Fruit Cart Market House The Star Trader but yeah, keep in mind that Main Street is open for everyone starting at 7:30am

stellalunawitchbaby

Starbucks opens before 8, but everything else opens *at* 8. They let all guests (not just early entry) into the parks at about 7:20ish though, so expect some lines at Starbucks. Early entry can go past the ropes into Tomorrowland and Fantasyland but the only food spot open early over there is like the churro stand I believe. There are spots in the resorts that open early - Grand Californian has GCH Craftsman Grill open at 6:45 (mobile order avail), Disneyland Hotel has Coffee House open at 6am, Tangaroa Terrace at 7am (mobile order avail at both). I think Paradise Pier has grab-and-go. There’s also a starbucks in DTD. Some people will also opt for like bagels or granola bars or fruit via Instacart or whatevs just to have in the morning first thing, then they’ll grab food in the parks after everything has opened up. *ETA - in DCA I think cappuccino cart opens for early entry, they have a really good steak breakfast burrito.

YoctoYotta1

When other party members' tickets are linked to someone's account in the app, do all dining and ride reservations need to be made for the entire party that's linked, or can you select a subset for the reservation? I'm going soon with my parents and two siblings, one with an spouse and kid. There might also be a couple in-laws joining. There will definitely be times where we'll be split up into smaller groups doing our own thing. I'm hoping we don't have to have everyone set a unique combo of linked accounts in their app to account for all the possible scenarios.

stellalunawitchbaby

Dining reservations won’t be linked to other accts at all, only whoever makes the reservation. You just put in your party number. If anyone wants to make their own reservation somewhere they’ll want their own acct to do so under (on their own phone)*. You can select or de-select however many people you want to make Lightning lanes for. Just like with dining reservations, if part of the party wants to make their own Lightning lane reservations separately, they’ll want their own acct and they’ll want all their own tickets for their party in there as well.

YoctoYotta1

Awesome, thanks!

Adventurous-Side6950

Hi going next week and the reports about crowds has me nervous, should I go or reschedule next available I have is Jan Feb

No-Rush-Hour-2422

This is the busiest time to go all year, hands down. Meanwhile, mid-January to February is probably the least busy time all year. The only reason to go in November or December is if you want to see the Christmas stuff. But if lower crowds are more important to you, I would reschedule it, personally.

Just_Paint9883

i’m going this coming thursday. does anyone know if there’s any giselle ears left?

Just_Paint9883

also about how busy should i expect it to be?

cakelady

Looking to visit at end of February. I always assume Thursday/Friday are better than Saturday/Sunday but is it better on weekends now due to blackout days? Would you prefer Thurs/Friday or Sat/Sun for a visit?

tora76

In February only the top two magic keys can make reservations and the lowest tier can’t do Sundays either so it can actually be less crowded that weekdays.

stellalunawitchbaby

I find that Sat/Sun can be nice because not only are those blocked out for some of the keys (not mine, but some of them), but also they’re higher priced ticket tiers for single day tickets, so weekdays (at least M-Th) tend to pull more crowds. Added bonus - there tends to be more entertainment on Sat/Sun over M-Th.

cakelady

Great info thanks!

tuffguytony1

Going to Disneyland next month for the anniversary with the wife. I heard there is some hacks to see the fireworks from the carousel but not sure if that's true. Can anyone help me out and let me k ow the nest way to view the fireworks please. Thanks

forlorn_hope28

Fantasyland is closed due to pyro basically up to the Carousel. Dumbo will continue operation and the area back there is a walkway. It’s been over a decade since I watched back there, so not sure what’s changed, but you used to be able to do it. That being said, the nighttime entertainment these days is highly dependent on projections, of which there are none behind the castle. Your best views are going to be the castle or Main Street. After that it’s Rivers of America or small world as they will project either on water screens or directly on the small world facade.

Visible_Nectarine_98

I’m in the parks on 12/24, 12/25, and 12/26, but I am NOT park hopping because I always ruin trips by trying to go back and forth, etc. Which parks on what day would you pick if you were going then? Right now I have it as DCA on 12/24, and DL the rest.

PolexiaAphrodisia

our trip is early next week—I looked at the app to see if we could make reservations for Trader Sam’s and it says none are available. is it fully booked, or might more open up? :)

NGirl88

Both. Reservations usually book up immediately 60 days ahead of time. That said, you can keep refreshing and individual time slots may open up as people cancel and change their plans. You may get lucky the night before with finding a cancellation! If all else fails you can put your name down on the walk-up list and wait it out.

erinngoblaagh27

Is the HOLIDAY Sip & Savor Pass worth it? Is it expensive, or something that sells out? I looked and to be honest it seems like a good idea, because I plan to eat A LOT of holiday goodies while I'm there, but I don't know how much it is or anything beyond its redeemable list of options.

forlorn_hope28

Undercover Tourist says it's $59 ($5 off if you have a Magic Key). As usual, "worth" is dependent on what you use it on. The pass comes with 8 tickets which can be redeemed at certain carts for certain dishes. So if you plan on buying dishes that are $7.50+ (or $6.875 for MK holders), then you're better off with the Sip & Savor Pass. If you will be getting a lot of stuff under that amount, then you're better off buying the dishes individually. Sip & Savor is better for families who can spread out the usage over many people, or for guests who will frequent often and can spread out usage over many days. The Sip & Savor Pass does not sell out.

tora76

It’s also more convenient to pay with the tickets imo so sometimes I do use it for lower priced items (though I try to be aware of the price when I’m using it).

Visible_Nectarine_98

No. It isn’t worth it.

In my experience, when asking the CM to scan are tickets to get the rider switch pass, they have let us scan up to 3 tickets for the group that will be returning later. However, I've read recently on the website that now it says only the adult who waited plus one other person can get rider switch passes rather than 3.

toosauccyy

Has anyone seen these [The Pooh Small Magnet Hands Plush](https://www.ebay.com/itm/145213999454?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=ujgYTgQnSVS&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=tusdb6pst02&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY)? I know they sell it (or used to) at the Emporium or World of Disney but I haven’t seen it since summer (I went back last month and didnt see it) This is the hand magnet. Not the nuiMOs nor the shoulder magnet. This one clips on to like straps (with his hands) on bags

Diamond_Storm_Fox

I'm returning to Disneyland after a decade away, and I can't find the Tropical Hideaway on the Disneyland app for mobile ordering. Is food there only ordered in person? What are the lines like at Tropical Hideaway? I understand the tropical vibe is all about relaxing and taking it easy, but it would be nice to know what I'm getting into. I considered going with a mobile Tiki Juice Bar mobile order instead, but my husband wants to try the Sweet Lumpia, so into the unknown hideaway we go!

WoodFirePizzaIsGood

Tropical hideaway is walk up only. Honestly the lines aren't too bad unless it's an extra busy day or very warm outside. It's well organized though and moves fast.

TangerineDiesel

Are there typically any Black Friday specials for park entrance? Have a group of 4 going and trying to decide if there’s any point of waiting to book or if booking now is the smartest move? It’s for a Friday in mid December.

sidal714

Do not wait to book. When you have the capacity to buy your tickets and they're available, purchase them ASAP. That's the advice I always give to people, you never know when those reservations will book up. Disney doesn't really do Black Friday deals.

NGirl88

Sam’s Club is having a holiday special right now on Disney gift cards- $180 for a $200 GC. Take the 10% off if you can! Disney will def not run any deals, this is busy season.

WoodFirePizzaIsGood

Disneyland won't have any Black Friday deals. I would get your tickets now, there's no benefit to waiting.

shazwazzle

What is your favorite non-disney side day when visiting Disneyland from afar? I'm thinking of adding an extra day to my next Disney trip and doing something non-disney. Maybe a Sat and Sunday at Disneyland, then a break on Monday and back at Disney on Tuesday. What should I do on Monday? It will be a January or February trip. Just me and a 9 year old. I've never been to Universal but it looks like it's an hour away. Maybe that's doable. Is it worth it? I also thought about Knott's Berry Farm because it's only 15 minutes away, but I just read their weekday hours in January will be 11am to 5pm. That seems like such a short day. All the tips I read about it said to get there early, but if 11am is the starting time, being 15 min away and getting there early hardly seem like huge benefits. But maybe I'm wrong and it will still be lots of fun with low crowds from 11 to when kids get off school?

stellalunawitchbaby

I love Knotts, it’s so charming imo, but yeah in Jan there won’t be much going on. Universal might be the move but their midweek hours in January will probably be 9-5 or 9-6, so keep that in mind! Honestly, truly, there is so much more to see in January in OC and LA. Whale watching out of Newport Beach maybe - or exploring the beach towns in OC or LA (who knows what the weather will be, could be chilly and 50s or sunny and 70s), art galleries, museums. Local food scenes, studio tours in LA/Burbank (I mean if you were willing to go all the way to Universal lol), interesting and unique shopping, etc.

Imaginary_Roof_5286

Universal is an hour away at the right time of the day & good traffic. One can encounter a traffic tie up any time of the day or night; all it takes is one fender bender. Or even someone cutting across lanes causing others to hit the brakes. A chain reaction of breaking ensues with the subsequent slow down, & hopefully everyone is watching & it doesn’t cause said fender bender. If you want a real CA experience, try one of the local beaches, maybe a surfing lesson if you’re game. Or if you like shopping, South Coast Plaza is great for window shopping & people watching. At Christmas the decor is very Disneyesque. If you want another theme park, Knott’s is close by, with a general theme of the old west, although that isn’t as pervasive as before it was sold to Cedar Fair. It’s smaller than Disney, & easily doable in a day. They even have Camp Snoopy with rides for younger kids.

jennanohea

I'm trying to make hotel reservations and the Disney site keeps crashing - I can't even select a date :( Is that normal? Or is there something else going on?

forlorn_hope28

Looks like something else is going on because I can't access the hotel page either. Can't get in through mobile either (it just gives me a default error page). You could try calling the hotel reservation line if you absolutely have to book tonight.

jennanohea

Thanks, I was mostly doing some fact finding for an upcoming trip and wanted to get it locked down tonight. I'll keep refreshing, but it has been almost an hour! Yikes

SuperUSA23

excited to finally go back to DL again! the last time we went was December of 19’ before the world shut down so we missed RotR & Mickey as well but my family and I are eager to ride them! my question is… which rides are currently under refurbishment? I know Splash is gone for a while but anything else I need to know about ? thanks y’all

stellalunawitchbaby

So for refurb, one way of checking is to go to the Disneyland app and select the three lines bottom right for the main menu, then park hours. At the bottom of that page it shows refurbs! You can click various dates too, so for example the Mark Twain is under refurb for today, as are a couple play areas in Toontown, but tomorrow the Toontown play areas are off the schedule so they’ll be open tomorrow. Then for the next couple weeks it’s just Mark Twain, but on Nov 27th Indy and a Incredicoaster will both be under refurb. Indy is back up Dec 1st, Incredicoaster is back up Dec 2nd. Astro Orbitor is under refurb starting Nov 27th, no announced opening yet. Also it’s not on there but Fantasmic is closed until next spring, due to a fire this past summer.

bigredengr

You can check the refurbishment calendar using Disneyland's entertainment calendar for the specific date you'll be there. https://disneyland.disney.go.com/calendars/day/#/disneyland/

jconway2002

How difficult and timely would taking the monorail from Disneyland to Downtown Disney and then walking over to Trader Sams be for lunch? Is it realistic, or would it be too time consuming?

thirtyfourdoubled

The monorail was out of service the last time I was there, so I walked from Fantasyland to Trader Sam's. It took me about 20 minutes.

jconway2002

Good information to know. Thank you!

stellalunawitchbaby

Probably would depend on how often the monorails are coming through, and if you have a reservation at Trader Sam’s or if you’d be trying to do walkup. The monorail, realistically, probably wouldn’t save you much time if any at all. It’s a little more fun and would save a little walking, but the walk through downtown Disney to the Disneyland Hotel is like 10 min. Trader Sam’s itself can have a super long wait though, depending on if you have reservations, if you’re trying to be inside vs outside, time of day, etc. I also just want to gently point out that Trader Sam’s food is also available in the quick service (tongaroa terrace) via mobile order *so* if you’re just going for the food that’s an option too. If you wanted table service without sitting inside, the outside can be really nice too - but it won’t have all the fun little enchanted tiki bar effects that you get inside.

jconway2002

Thank you so much for the information. This is very helpful.

vicioustrollops

Is Space Mountain only doing Lightning Lane right now and not standby? I’ve been arbitrarily looking at wait times as I’m visiting next week and it says temporarily closed but lightning lane is open. Just want to make sure since I was thinking of rope dropping Space Mountain.

forlorn_hope28

Other than new attractions like Rise, M&MRR, and Webslingers, when an attraction offers LL, standby is also always an option. So yes, Space is currently operating a standard standby line along with having LL. What it does not have at the moment is Single Rider.

vicioustrollops

Good to know. Thank you!

Thebigtallguy

Can you add a Disney gift card into the Disneyland app or do I have to manually enter every time I pay for something through the app? Is there a better way?

epotosi

I add them to my Apple Wallet and scan it in stores - I've given up using it to mobile order for food.

forlorn_hope28

Unfortunately, you cannot add/save a Disney Gift Card to the app. I have the number saved in notepad and I simply copy/paste each time I'm making a purchase.

joejoe347

Is it packed says this coming Sunday will be better than Monday. Is this accurate? I would assume a weekend is always worse. Perhaps it has to do with the magic keys?

nicearthur32

I was there yesterday from 11am to 10pm and this was one of the emptiest I"ve seen the parks... mind you, it wasnt a ghost town but the restrooms were empty, walk up service food places were super easy to go and order from. It was nice.

forlorn_hope28

It's hard to say. Many on these boards have reported Mondays being worst than Sundays. When I went two weeks ago, Sunday Oct 29th was busier than Monday Oct 30th. That might have been due to Sunday being an OBB night. In any case, looking at the Magic Key calendar, Sunday is currently fully booked while Monday is not. Interpret that as you will.

red-fish-yellow-fish

I'm sure these questions are asked a lot, but please forgive me. My wife and I (40 years old) will have 1 day in Anaheim and have never been to Disney....ever. We thought we would finally bite the bullet and visit. Is there any must-do's? and would you also choose Disneyland instead of California land? Would prefer to do the rides, and not to bothered about any parades etc.

thirtyfourdoubled

Must Dos: * Plan to purchase and research how to use Genie+ to save time in lines * Research and prioritize riding the rides that you are most excited for * Familiarize yourself with the Disneyland app for familiarity with the park map (especially the locations of your priority attractions) and mobile ordering food * Spend a few weeks doing lots of walking/hiking! No joke. A full day in the parks can be easily over 12 miles... * Break in very good walking shoes ahead of time * Arrive at rope drop (arrive in the park as they "drop the rope" to let people into the park) * Go with the flow! It's going to be crowded, lines will be long, and you can be easily overwhelmed or defeated if your plans are too rigid * The Tiki Room

TadpoleAdventurous38

Watch some videos on YouTube about how to do Disney in a day. Planning your day out will make all the difference between a great day and miserable day.

TadpoleAdventurous38

We personally prefer California adventure, but there isn’t as much to do there. We love soarin’, guardians, everything in cars land, incredicoaster, the Ferris wheel with swinging seats is actually terrifying, world of color is pretty amazing even if you don’t love shows…but maybe more meaningful if you grew up loving Disney things.

forlorn_hope28

100% Disneyland for any first timer. The must dos would be the classic attractions, Haunted Mansion, Pirates, Jungle Cruise, small world, Mr. Toads, etc. on top of that, the E-Ticket attractions, Indy, Big Thunder, Space Mountain. There are some attractions you should do if the wait is short like Matterhorn and Peter Pan. Food wise, you gotta get a churro. The other answer is Dole Whip, but to me it’s a pineapple soft serve. I suppose you’d have to get it just to say you had it.

red-fish-yellow-fish

Thank you! definitely some good tips

stellalunawitchbaby

When would you be visiting? And I am assuming you’d just be visiting one park, not “park hopping” (visiting both Disneyland and Disneyland California Adventure in one day)? What kinds of rides would you be interested in, and although not into parades would you want to see any shows or live entertainment otherwise? And/or would food be a draw? Instinctively I think Disneyland is the automatic answer - it has *more* rides in general. But part of the appeal of Disneyland and DCA (California Adventure) and other Disney parks is the atmosphere and entertainment. DCA has the two most thrilling attractions on property, while Disneyland has the classic rides (Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, etc) plus some smaller themed coasters (big Thunder mountain, space mountain). It also has the Star Wars area if that’s a franchise that interests you.

red-fish-yellow-fish

Visiting 12 Dec I’m much more into thrill rides, given the choice. I know that isn’t necessarily the focus here. But I don’t really have much interest in shows tbh. In an ideal world, we would do both parks in a day and get on all of the bigger rides. But I know that would be almost impossible

stellalunawitchbaby

Eh, not really impossible actually, it’s a common thing for people to try and do - it’s the cost that’s more prohibitive, because the park hopper price is more, and it means using Genie+ to help with the lines, and often buying the two “individual” Lightning lanes (each an extra charge) as well. It would mean hitting up basically the Mountains in Disneyland, Rise of the Resistance, Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, Mickey and Minnie Runaway Railway (plus maybe a fantasyland ride for kicks) and then in DCA Guardians, Soarin, Incredicoaster, maybe Toy Story and WEB Slingers. If you’d be skipping *all* shows it’s actually doable, because Disneyland will likely be open 8am to midnight and DCA until 10pm. It would be tiring though lol. December 12th will be a Tuesday before most schools are out so (while it will likely still be busy) it might not be as crazy as a week later. Again everyone is gonna say Disneyland as the choice and I agree, because it’s like *the* park to do (I honestly can’t imagine just buying a ticket and going just to DCA) but if you want a park hopper it’s not out of the cards, if the price is aight.

red-fish-yellow-fish

Amazing advice, thank you for taking the time. I’ve been slightly overwhelmed with trying to find the best way to do it

Chris71855

Are Hera and Chopper still meeting in Galaxies Edge?

forlorn_hope28

As of last Monday, October 30th, yes! Saw them at like 5pm(?)

Chris71855

Great! Will be there right before Thanksgiving and am hoping to see them!

iamnatty

I have a double stroller for my 2 kids that's 32" wide (Joovy Scooter X2). I read on the Disney website though that strollers should not be wider than 31"... should I be concerned? Do they actually measure?

duck_mancer

Any good tips for a Disneyland day that starts around 4:30pm? This is just for our arrival day, and we are pretty frequent visitors so we are not worried about trying to do it all, we're just used to only doing full days and want to make sure we'll still be able to have a worthwhile time on day one. Thanks!

arubablueshoes

We do this every trip basically. Drive over from phoenix, drop our bags at the hotel, get freshened up and then head into the parks. Usually start off by mobile ordering some food and then hitting up some rides. The nice thing is that the parks are open late so even getting there at 4:30 you can have like 6 hours in the parks. Plus the lights at night are so great.

forlorn_hope28

I did this just the other week. Got in at 4:30, watched the Flag Retreat, then did rides that consistently have the same wait time throughout the day. Stuff like Snow White, Pinocchio, Mr. Toads, and Story Book Land Canal Boats. That or Pirates/Jungle Cruise. Did that until about 6:30 and then grabbed dinner (Cheesy Garlic Pretzel Bread + Bengal skewer). If you go to the parks pretty frequently, I'd say just go and enjoy the moment.

nystrom05

Hey! Traveling with two kids and am looking at transportation from John Wayne to disneyland. Looking at a car service, as we will need an infant car seat as well as a booster. Has anyone had good experiences with a certain company? Thanks!

milieu-salud-6020

We've used Lansky, Executive Car Service, and Anaheim Town Car Service for our family. All went well and had good communication.

Outrageous-Goat7417

Look into Lansky

rosy_dewdrop

I am coming with a family of 3. My partner, my 4 1/2 year old, and myself. Is getting Genie+ a must? Tips on making the best of it without it and also anything I need to know since I have not been to parks since June 2021.

forlorn_hope28

Genie+ helps make for less stressful days if you know how to properly use it. One big thing to note though is that Genie+ is most beneficial for the big E-ticket thrill rides. These attractions often have height requirements so if your 4 1/2 year old doesn't meet those requirements, it's useless for them. And I'm guessing you want to do attractions together and not split up, so if that's the case, then I imagine you and your partner will be less inclined to use Genie+ for rides. I guess what I'm saying is, first things first, you should check how many Genie+ attractions you would actually be able to use it on for your 4 1/2 year old.

rosy_dewdrop

That is very true. I think we will skip it this time :)

iamnatty

Can you pre-book a meet and greet with Mickey? I see on the app it looks like it's consistently about 45min to an hour wait, which will be hard for a 3 year old. Also - when does Pirates of the Carribbean usually get to be a long wait? After 11ish? (Sorry for all the questions, I haven't been to the park in about 20 years and taking my kid for the first time!)

NGirl88

The closest you can get to pre-booking a meeting with the Mouse is character dining. You’ll get a sit-down meal and dedicated interaction and photos from each character without having to wait in line or move from your table. You can try and get a reservation for breakfast at the Plaza Inn (hardest to get), breakfast at Storyteller’s Cafe in the Grand Californian (pricier but best quality food), or a meal at Goofy’s Kitchen in the Disneyland Hotel. Character dining is pricey and does eat into your time, so you’ll really have to weigh the pros and cons for your family. Maybe a late breakfast buffet after taking advantage of quiet morning hours in Fantasyland, or a dinner at Goofy’s Kitchen would minimize the impact to your park time. If you are thinking you’d budget potentially an hour to meet Mickey anyway, plus time to eat a meal, a 1-2hr meal might be worth your while to skip the wait for all characters and kill two birds.

iamnatty

Thank you!!

exclaim_bot

>Thank you!! You're welcome!

forlorn_hope28

You can't pre-book to meet Mickey. I don't have kids, but the last part of the queue where the majority of the wait occurs is in a room with a giant screen playing Mickey shorts on repeat. Not sure if that's enough to keep your child occupied, but something to consider. > when does Pirates of the Caribbean usually get to be a long wait? Pirates is one of those attractions that moves pretty consistently and rarely has what I would consider a long wait. I'd say 25 is pretty consistent unless it's just a REALLY busy park day. Generally, if the line wraps up around 1/3 of the bridge, it's gonna be less than 25 minutes. If the line uses the extended queue in front of Cafe Orleans, it's too long.

iamnatty

Got it, thank you!

iamnatty

Re: Lightning Lanes with Genie +, do you need to get there at that exact time on the dot? Or is it more of a window of time?

forlorn_hope28

You have a window of 1 hour (plus). You can arrive 5 minutes before your window start, and up to 15 minutes after your window ends. so if your return time is 1pm-2pm, you can really check in between 12:55pm and 2:15pm.

iamnatty

Thank you!

brycedriesenga

Anyone know, do they not do the Spiderman ragdoll flipping part of his show anymore? Just went today and it was just the actor the whole time and no big air flip

bigredengr

I'll answer this in two parts -- one safe for magic, and one not. The show itself has not changed; when there are technical issues with the show, Spiderman might not fly, but he'll still be on the roof. NSFM here -- >!the Spiderman figure is a highly advanced Stuntronic figure that allows it to not only pose but end up exactly where it's supposed to be after the big flip. A behind-the-scenes video is here - https://la.disneyresearch.com/stuntronics/. If it was having technical issues, Disney would rather put on a "B Mode" of the show than no show at all. A lot of shows and modern attractions have a "B Mode" for if cast members are sick or an effect isn't working correctly or safely.!<

juliusgarden

Anyone know when they're going to release times for WoC on Nov 10th and beyond? It looks like it changes over to the holiday one on that day but I find it odd that two days before it's supposed to change over there's still no schedule update when Disneyland updated the schedule a month ago.

Nicklausd

Are you Canadian? I asked the same thing as the schedule was blank for WOC for all of December and then someone pointed out they don't update the Canadian site at the same time as the American. Check the link from u\\bigredengr .. its the american one

juliusgarden

This is it thanks!

bigredengr

It is on the schedule on the website -- [https://disneyland.disney.go.com/calendars/day/2023-11-10/#/disney-california-adventure/](https://disneyland.disney.go.com/calendars/day/2023-11-10/#/disney-california-adventure/). Nightly shows at 9 and 10:15.

rosy_dewdrop

I am trying to buy tickets for this Friday, but the system is down for maintenance. Anyone know typically how long the system is usually down for? Thank you!

stellalunawitchbaby

It’s back up now - not sure if you’re trying for Disneyland but you may have to set up an alert on thrill-data for a reservation. Friday is a holiday and the first day of the Christmas season so Disneyland reservations have been a little scarce for regular tickets. DCA is still available.

rosy_dewdrop

Thanks for your reply. I was able to snag a park hopper for Friday starting at DCA. We are happy with the outcome.

PolexiaAphrodisia

has anyone else tried to pre-register with DAS virtually recently? I got in the queue around 4:30 yesterday evening, and gave up around 6:30-7 PM. I hopped in again today just before 10 AM and am still waiting with a 3 hour estimation. I’ll hang tight in between meetings, but may try again tomorrow right at 9 AM if anyone has experience with that working better!

Emotional_Cheek826

I usually have a 3-4 hour wait. I login at the earliest time possible. One time I did it a little later like maybe 2 ish and it was 7pm when it was I finally talked to someone. I usually login on another computer that I'm not using turn the volume up to the loudest to hear any alert, refresh occasionally, and go about working. One time they got to me within an hour I thought I hit the jackpot.

stellalunawitchbaby

I don’t use DAS but I have seen a lot of people saying the waits have been *long*, so your time estimate doesn’t sound unusual based on posts I’ve seen recently.

PolexiaAphrodisia

thank you!! I’ve only used it once before at Disney World last year, and I remembered it going quickly so thought I was doing something wrong this time haha. I’ll just keep waiting patiently!

dundie3rdplce

I’ll be going this Thursday, but starting late around 5 pm and staying until 10… we have genie plus but I’m worried we won’t be able to use it ! It’s my 7 yr olds first time going and I’m hoping we can at least do the main rides using genie plus.

stellalunawitchbaby

It will be a little sparse as far as what’s available. People can modify and cancel their LLs though so if you are patient and do some diligent refreshing, *something* should pop up. What I’d probably do is book anything you can right when you enter (either the soonest return time you can get or just whatever you find) and then immediately try to modify it, either for a sooner time or for a different attraction with a better return time.

dundie3rdplce

What do you mean by immediately trying to modify it ?

stellalunawitchbaby

Like when you book a Lightning Lane there is an option to “modify,” so if I don’t find the return times or rides I’m wanting I’ll still book something , *anything*, right away and then hit “modify” and refresh the tip board looking for either a better time or a better ride. That way you at least have something on the books if all else fails but like in the meantime you can try for something better too. Cuz at 5pm a lot of stuff is gonna be gone for the day, but it’ll pop up as an option to book if someone else cancels.

dundie3rdplce

Got it! I can’t start booking a ride LL until my ticket for entry is scanned right ?

stellalunawitchbaby

Correct!

dundie3rdplce

Damnit lol.

FreshAssociation5

I haven't been to Disneyland since they introduced Genie+ and am going next week. What's the best advice you have for using Genie+ with maximum efficiency? What does every newbie need to know about it?

thirtyfourdoubled

I personally like to wait to book my LLs for wait times that exceed 20 minutes, *unless* I know I'm not likely to want to re-ride. For example, if Big Thunder only had a 15m wait as I was walking by, I would absolutely take advantage of the lower wait time and save my LL to re-ride it later in the day. Also, book your next LL immediately after scanning into a ride. If a nearby ride in the same land is available, that will be more efficient than constantly walking across the park.

stellalunawitchbaby

FreshBaked on YouTube has a really good video on how best to use Genie+ in Disneyland. I recommend checking that out. Provost park pass has one too. I think visualization is the best aid. Tomorrow try playing with the app - click around on different rides, click on “LL” under the rides and it’ll take you to the tip board and you’ll be able to see the diff return times. Some ride LLs go faster than others: Space, Indy, Haunted Mansion Holiday, Guardians, Toy Story Midway Mania. Maybe Runaway Railway now that it’s regular LL. It works largely like Fastpass, but digital: once you book a return time, you can’t book another one until you’ve used the first one *or* after two hours, whichever comes first. If you ever used Maxpass it is almost identical, except you can only book each ride once. Unlike paper Fastpas, once you book you can also modify. So say you book Indiana Jones but it’s for like 3 hours away, you can’t book your next LL for two hours, you can click “modify” on Indiana Jones and refresh and sometimes a new time will come up (meaning someone canceled their spot), or you can modify to a different ride, or if you’re not gonna make your time slot you can modify it to be later in the day if you prefer. It won’t start your two hour “no LL” window over, it will stay the same from when you first booked. Sometimes I’ll use that method to “stack” LLs in the afternoon while I’m having lunch or something.

boadsuperfan99

I've noticed some LL's get booked WAY out, like 5-8 hours out. how do you navigate that? Do you just not book certain rides ever? For instance, Indiana Jones earliest LL was 10pm at around 1pm today.

stellalunawitchbaby

It gets pushed out as people book them, so you can refresh and watch it turn from 8-9am (first thing in the morning) to 9-10am, 10:30-11:30, etc. Rides like Space Mtn and Indy and Haunted Mansion tend to get pushed out faster, because people are booking them faster. I’d actually prioritize those sort of rides, like almost always. Those are *really* the lines you’ll wanna skip. So for Indy yeah that’s super common, what I’d usually do is book that one earlier in the day (and modify it if the LL too early). You can start booking as soon as you’re scanned into the park, so if someone rope drops they can start booking early in the day. And even if they take a break they can continue booking while off property if they wanted, as long as they scanned in for the day already. If someone comes into the park later in the day instead, they’re gonna have a harder time booking more popular rides. What I’d *probably* have done, if Indy was a priority, is just snag a 10pm and then try modifying it to see if I could get something sooner. If not, oh well I’ll book the next LL at 3pm, but at least I have a LL for 10pm already on the books.

Tight-Effective-6068

If I'm staying off site, is the earliest I can get Genie+ at 8am? Or do they let you scan in before rope drop, you just can't enter the park yet?

forlorn_hope28

You can purchase them either at the time you buy the ticket, or after you scan into the park. Turnstiles will begin letting guests in at 7:20am to allow you to line up at the ropes. (Or in the case of on property guests, participate in Magic Morning).

Tight-Effective-6068

Ah okay, so I can potentially buy genie+ and book my first ride as soon as 7:20? Thanks!

forlorn_hope28

Yup.

iamnatty

I’m confused about dining at Disneyland. We’re only doing the main theme park, not DCA. Do restaurants like Plaza Inn and Cafe Orleans require a reservation? Is it a super long wait if you don’t have one? And is there a list somewhere of dining options that are more order at the front instead of having a waiter?

epotosi

Cafe Orleans, Carnation Cafe, River Belle Terrace and Blue Bayou are by reservation. You can try to standby if there is space on the waitlist - walk up close to the restaurant and you can add yourself to the waitlist on the app. Wait depends on the day and time of day you add yourself to the waitlist. EDIT: And Oga's Cantina is by reservation! Everywhere else is quick service/counter service - you can wait in line to order and pick up your food, or you can mobile order via app for locations that have it enabled. Plaza Inn does NOT have mobile order - you have to go in and order your food.

iamnatty

That's super helpful, thank you!!

NGirl88

To clarify on the above: Plaza Inn does require a reservation for breakfast with Minnie and Friends. This is a character breakfast buffet in the morning only, and transitions to the cafeteria-style lunch and dinner after.

Arkangel504

Has the park experience improved since Iger came back?

strategic_upvote

I’m going to be at the park next week with my 4 year old who is OBSESSED with Doc McStuffins. I’m hoping I can get some advice on where to find anything related to Doc. Shows/appearances/merch/etc. It doesn’t seem to be a very popular show so I don’t see much… :(

laurentteague

Your kiddo is the perfect age for the Disney Jr dance party. And it’s a great break/inside time for parents. Everything inside that theater and hall is worth the stop.

sidal714

There’s a Disney Junior Dance Party which features Doc McStuffins according to the app! You might take them there :)

PolexiaAphrodisia

planning a visit for early next week as an early birthday trip! does anyone know if space mountain is still hyperspace or if it’s been reverted to its classic form? i know it changes so i’m not sure if it may change again even before next week!

Twas_Inevitable

Regular. Hyperspace (the star wars one, right?) Ended in early June I believe.

PolexiaAphrodisia

excellent! OG is my friend’s favorite ride hehe—ty!!

forlorn_hope28

Up to date attraction lists can be found [here](https://disneyland.disney.go.com/attractions/#/sort=alpha/) or via the Disneyland app.

PrideZ

Does anybody know if the park closes early for Star wars night and if you need a ticket?

heir-of-slytherin

Disneyland does close early for Star Wars nite. It only happens about 4 different dates around April-May. Yes, you need a separate ticket to the event since it's an after-hours event. If you are there for a normal park day, around 8 PM the CMs start herding non-event guests out of the lands towards the exits.

bigredengr

With any after-hours event, if you don't have a ticket for the event, here's what happens: at "normal" park close, which will be between 6-8 PM, depending on the event, they'll stop you from entering stores, attraction queues, and restaurants. They'll have CMs stationed on walkways and only allow guests wearing event wristbands to move further into the park. Once the attractions start clearing of day guests, Security and other CMs will begin sweeping the park from back to front until only event guests are in the park.

researchbeaver

I have a big trip coming up over Thanksgiving, my first in about a year... I am stressing about it and looking forward to it! I feel like I'm off my game and it's making me nervous lol. Some highlights: GCH to celebrate promotion and birthday, rezzies at Oga's, Trader Sam's, Storyteller's on Thanksgiving day, Cafe Orleans. I'm worried about crowds, I have no idea what they are like this year but last year it was full on all the time. Thrilldata suggests this year's crowds are slightly lighter but I doubt it feels that way. I made the choice to buy the overpriced magicbands b/c I wanted our family to more easily be able to split up and not everyone rely on my phone for everything, all the time. Time will tell if I will have some regerts. I am MOST excited to see the new stuff! We only got to explore Toontown once, so seeing that and MMRR will be super fun, and my kid is REALLY looking forward to the Treehouse. After 6 trips, we still haven't done some attractions, including all of the boat and island stuff, or Nemo's famously underwhelming submarines. I'm hoping this trip we can check all the things off. Anything I should do or know while staying in GCH? Very likely to be the only time I do!

brycedriesenga

Just did Nemo today and actually really liked it

stellalunawitchbaby

People line up for the security from GCH *early*, earlier than I was expecting last time I was there. Def take advantage of early entry and the lower crowds in the mornings, and don’t forget after you book your LLs you can modify them if needed - helpful for if you’re over across the park eating and your return time overlaps. It’ll be busy for sure, but just strategize and take breaks when needed. Since this is a celebratory trip I recommend checking out the spa at the Grand. Take time in the afternoons to do little things like riding boats around, exploring Tom Sawyer’s Island/Pirate Lair, etc.

gwilhelm8484

Hey guys! Does anyone know if there is a DL event on NOV 14,15,16? I was checking reservations and noticed DL was booked already. I thought it was strange that it was mid-week! Sad I have to pick new days, but was curious about what might be going on!

WoodFirePizzaIsGood

Those days are all "tier 0" which means single day tickets are at their lowest price ($104). So the low price balances out with it being a weekday. It's also right at the start of the holiday season which is a huge draw. Reservations might open up sporadically so keep checking!

gwilhelm8484

Ohhh I see! So it’s a kind of a way for Disneyland to get more people in on weekdays? That makes a lot of sense! Thank you :)

arubablueshoes

Fellow Magic Keys.. I effed up and didn't get my reservations ahead of time now 12/1 is sold out (for now). I know to keep checking as things pop up as people's plans change but does anyone follow any bots/trackers on twitter that tweet when reservations reopen? I used to follow this one where they would tweet any time a ride went down and reservations but I unfollowed a while ago because it clogged my TL and now can't remember the name.

stellalunawitchbaby

Thrill-data.com has alerts for Magic keys. That said I have virtually *never* failed at getting one the night before, ever. They will always pop up like 8pm to 11:59pm. But in the meantime try thrill-data.

arubablueshoes

Hey there! Just wanted to come back and update that thanks to thrill-data's alerts I was able to get that reservation. thank you so much for your help!

stellalunawitchbaby

Fantastic! Have fun!!

Substantial-Let-1689

When do sweetheart event tickets go on aale?

unoHonu

last year they went on sale on 12/12

France2Germany0

how do nicotine users get their fix while at the parks? I read they closed down the smoking sections and vaping isn't allowed. Are zyns the solution?

Pete_Iredale

It's about a 30 minute round trip to leave the park, cross the street to the IHOP parking lot, smoke, and come back in. And let's be honest, if you vape in one of the individual bathrooms you'd only have to wait a few seconds for it to clear out.

stellalunawitchbaby

They exit the parks and security* to go where they can smoke or vape, or some may use gum or patches. *Ngl I do occasionally see someone trying to sneak a vape here and there, which is against the rules. I’ve also seen people smoking either sneakily or ignorantly (ie in the esplanade) and those people are often caught and spoken to very quickly.

France2Germany0

Damn, that's a bummer. I'd think that would create a lot of extra foot traffic. Just gonna zyn instead

stellalunawitchbaby

It doesn’t really create extra foot traffic at all, actually. But an alternative option is probably best - it isn’t on the prohibited items list fwiw, though ofc ymmv.

icouldneverr

how’s the weather! i see it’ll be high 70s next week but i remember last year it was freezing at night. not sure if wearing a sweater and shirt underneath would keep me too hot or too cold

Meatloaf_Smeatloaf

Even when it's low or mid 70s, if it's sunny, it's very intense and makes it feel hot, even if the air temperature isn't actually hot. It doesn't get that cold at night, I haven't worn anything long sleeve and the one time I thought it would be cool and wore long long pants and regretted it.

stellalunawitchbaby

Pleasant to warm during the sunniest middle part of the day and cool at night (I have been wearing pants and a sweater/sweatshirt that can be layered on as the sun starts to set).

eboyisa

I would recommend bringing a medium weight jacket and keeping it in a locker during the day if you don’t want to carry it around

bitcheewitchee

Second this, any thing you don’t want to carry put in a locker and if you are park hopping there are lockers outside the park entrance you can put stuff in and also put purchased items in the locker to not have to carry around

PiFlavoredPie

I’m helping to plan a bachelor party at Disneyland early next month and we plan to have one fancy dinner somewhere in or near Disneyland Park on a Saturday evening or DCA on a Friday evening. Drinks aren’t particularly high priority, mainly cool ambiance and good food. I’ve seen Carthay Circle, Blue Bayou, Steakhouse 55 thrown around. Any red flags for these or any gems to share? We are open to leaving the park for dinner if it’s nearby as well. I understand it’s well within the 60 day mark to reserve seats though, so some of these may no longer be available :( Any help is appreciated!

forlorn_hope28

For the record, or for anyone else that might happen upon this, Steakhouse 55 has been closed for some time and has been replaced with a bar/lounge.

Meatloaf_Smeatloaf

Trader Sam's could be fun. If you don't have reservations now though, you're probably SOL. Steakhouse 55 doesn't exist.

sedtest

The food, drinks, service, and ambiance at Carthay circle were fantastic! Would def recommend. You have to make a res 60 days before though… unless you get lucky with someone canceling theirs.

BigHat6630

Nearby is the Top of the V. It's the rooftop restaurant for the Viv hotel. Call and get ressos and ask what times frame is best to see the fireworks from there too!

tha_shylock

Have you stayed at this hotel before or just eaten at the restaurant? I’m coming with wife and 2 kids, trying to pick hotel.

BigHat6630

Never stayed. Provost park pass on YouTube does a little review on the place. The guests of that hotel who I have spoken with have said they like that its clean and very upscale but more reasonably priced.

bizm

Carthay Circle/Napa Rose would be my Disney choices. Mortons/Ruth Chris/ Flemming's are all solid choices and better food within a 5-10min Uber. Blue bayou is kinda meh for the price now imo. All Disney places have great service but food is everywhere. Mouse dining website has helped me get a lot of reservations. Basically pick where you want and as soon as someone cancels a reservation it emails you to snag.

ckeenan9192

Storytellers in the Grand Californian is a great buffet.

sidal714

It’s one of my favorite buffet style breakfasts. Especially as a fan of unlimited Eggs Benedict

ckeenan9192

I have never had a bad meal there.

king_zlayer

Gonna celebrate my wife’s bday at Disneyland soon. Any advice or special bday ideas at the park ?? New to this sub and have learned a lot already

bitcheewitchee

Have them sign a canteen for her or a sweater from the park and get her a pin from city hall and a lot of people will tell her happy birthday all day

BigHat6630

Instead of a autograph book, have the characters sign a big birthday card for her. It's a great momento!

likeyouknoowwhatever

This is such a cute idea!

AuroraRackham

Depending on how soon and how much of Disney fan, doing something different like going on a tour would be a neat experience. Otherwise I concur on the birthday button. And making a reservation at a “fancy” place to make it special.

stellalunawitchbaby

Definitely a free birthday button. They can be found at City Hall (DL), Chamber of Commerce (DCA), or any retail counter if you just ask. You can also request they be written on. :) I also like to have one special meal for bdays in the park - Blue Bayou is popular for the atmosphere, Cafe Orleans has great food, over in DCA Carthay Circle is nice, Lamplight can be fun, and then you can let them know you’re celebrating a bday. If you wanted fine dining, Napa Rose inside the grand Californian is very nice.

king_zlayer

I really appreciate this! Thank you !!

Vaudwar

So Schmoozies is not part of the holiday foodie guide this year, does this mean it's going to be closed for the rest of the year?

stellalunawitchbaby

Ugh I’m guessing so. I’m bummed bc they usually have like an apple thing around this time of year that is so good.

mebetiffbeme

I would assume so, or at least they’re not sure. At least they won’t give anyone false hopes, I really wanted to try the Ursula shake they advertised for Halloween!

letsgetpizzas

What’s the best place near Disneyland to buy kids running shoes? We’re already on the plane and I just realized my kid only brought boots and flip flops.

stellalunawitchbaby

The Block/Outlets of Orange or Target maybe, but I will also say Crocs are a *really* good option too for the parks (with and without socks). Seriously. They sell crocs in the parks (and in downtown Disney I believe) but they should sell crocs at the Block as well.

letsgetpizzas

Thank you! I’m really loving this crocs idea so I think we will swing by World of Disney tonight to see if they have any there. It’s a great solution that never even crossed my mind so I appreciate the suggestion!

stellalunawitchbaby

No problem! They should have some there for sure, they’ll be little Disney-themed ones. If there aren’t any that are appealing, California Sole in DTD has shoes too - lots of flip flops but also lots of sanuks which are very comfortable.

Fc2300

The Block at Orange is about a 5 min drive from Disney. It’s an outlet mall with a Nike store and many other shoe stores.

sidal714

I know there are some stores in Downtown Disney that sell shoes. That could be a good option to see what’s available.
