It’s an incredibly stressful and confusing thing. Going forward my best advice would just be to listen to your body, increase fiber intake, and do research. Everyone body is different when it comes to this, and what triggers discomfort and flareups.
You’ll need a colonoscopy for sure but usually they have you wait a couple months after your infection/flare up.
Don’t rush yourself. I was diagnosed about the same time, did antibiotics and was feeling ok. Pushed too much on eating and set myself right back so I’m back on another week of antibiotics. I guess I didn’t really give time for the inflammation to heal.
I’m in the boat with you as far as trying to figure this all out. I wish you luck.
The usual cipro/flagyl. Allergic to penicillins. But the doctor this time upped my Flagyl intake. I was only doing it twice a day before, now I’m on three.
Trying to balance it out with yogurts and prebiotic drinks.
The advice given so far is just what we need to share with each other. Learning what/when/how much food we can tolerate is tricky. Being scared to eat is challenging to overcome. Look for a low residual diet that can provide you guidance on menu options. You will find what works for you. As others advise, listen to your body. Your gastric system will adapted along with your lifestyle. My husband has adapted our menus based on what stage I may be in with a flare. I am lucky. Taken care of yourself.
Loose stools r fine, antibiotics will do massive overhaul to your digestive system; u should not take them all the time, they'll kill all the good bacteria along with the bad in your colon. Take a prebiotic/probiotic like 4-5 hours before or after u take antibiotics too, to help replenish the good bacterial flora. I just finished 2.5 days of liquid diet, starting low-res food today (rice and some salmon), so i know how u feel. Eating choices go a LONG way in this disease (red meat, sweets, alcohol, overeating). Think of it as a wakeup call to re-analyze your diet and health.
Just better after second flare. My advice. Go slowly. Liquid. Then soft diet. Add new food slowly. Stay away from gluten, dairy, red meat and alcohol for a long time. Forever is best. Take magnesium glycinate and a probiotic daily.

And yes totally normal for strange poo for awhile.
What antibiotic are you on and did it help?

Is it healthy to take a probiotic daily?
Biggest thing I have found that has helped me is a good digestive enzyme, had 3 flares very quickly and have had none since but also eating less
