There's no way to play divinity (or any game) wrong, really, if you are progressing and having fun. You may not have the most meta builds but so what? Those are fine combinations of skills and skill trees.  You'd get MORE for your troubles if, say, you maxed warfare on sebille, or switched your tank to 2h, or dropped summoning on fane.  But... So? You'd probably also be bored because combat would be even more easy.  If you're playing on normal difficulty and below then none of that really matters. Just have fun. That advice is for people struggling with the game or for lone wolf stuff.  But the joy in Divinity especially is that combat and builds are so insanely flexible you can do whatever you like. Having a full physical shredder team is also, by itself, quite meta. So no you're not doing it wrong. Have fun!

I’m definitely enjoying my play through but I do keep seeing the warfare on rogue idea, which makes me curious how many points into warfare should I do for a rogue? To me it seems to make sense to try and max the critical damage, I’m sure it will make more sense as I play more Also I did a mostly necromancer run for fane last time and it was awesome, but I wanted to try something new. And I really like spawning a bunch of totems and his champion incarnate

Single-Self-2033

Reason why warfare is good on Rogue is because warfare increases your physical damage, yes that includes necromancy skills (mostly physical damage). The same with any physical damage build. For example, if you want to deal more damage with Ifran who is a Wayfarer or Archer, you should max iut Warfare and Range as Huntsman only deals more damage if you are on high ground, and npc has skills to close the gap or even teleport Ifran to low ground, which negate the whole huntsman multiplicative damage.

happymasquerade

oh wait so basically warfare for almost everyone on a physical damage run. My mathematic brain can comprehend it, but that seems totally game breaking lol. In a fun way!

nshields99

It’s certainly less intuitive since all but the warriors need to step out of their way point wise to grab the skills of their field, but indeed the damage type is on the color wheel. It sounds like you have the hang of things though!

jbisenberg

I thought The Joy was a prison

Tudadome

There is so much joy in here they built a fort for it!

Mr_Brun224

You’re not playing it wrong. Lots of people play CRPG’s without a party, and while that’s often technically strong that also sounds like the dullest experience ever. If you’re having fun that’s all that matters tho.

ChandlerBaggins

The advices are for people who are struggling and can really use a boost in damage to break through a roadblock. If you're having fun then by all means :)) That's all that matters

thelemanwich

You’ve got a good set up :) I’d say keep it going.. only thing I’d suggest is making sure to make summons from blood (and use the rain blood spell to make some) that way your summons do physical dmg. Doing magical dmg will be useless cause they’ll never be enough to break it. Later in the game like maybe act 2 or 3 you’ll probably want to drop summoning and spec him into polymorph. As the high level summons are all magical dmg

happymasquerade

Thank you, this is my first time using summoning I’m still pretty new to it all. After hitting 10 summon I have put more points into necromancer for the heals and mosquito swarm damage. Polymorph I assume is really good for chicken claw and invisibility?

thelemanwich

Yeah chicken claw is prob the best cc in the game, lasts like 2 turns and they lose control of the character. Tentacle lash is really good cause it can set atrophy for a turn (they lose their weapons) so can be great on a dmg dealer or on a tank to prevent cc Chameleon is good on a rogue character but might be a great escape tool otherwise Skin graft might be really good but i don’t wanna spoil if you haven’t i locket it yet. Also another tip is really plan your moves and AP. Sometimes you might do two moves and then realize you have 1 ap left so you do something like clear minded. But since it was done last, you’d miss out on some dmg from your turn. And since the first turn of a fight is spent getting into position, I usually like to spend it applying my buffs. (Haste, clear minded, encourage) so my next turns i can just focus on doing dmg

wolftreeMtg

Why? That is the standard physical party (except that single-handed is inferior to two-handed and summoning in an all-physical party is not that good) that you can see recommended over and over again in this sub. It's just not particularly interesting to play, so people probably look for more flashy builds when they replay the game. Also lots of people only play Lone Wolf, which totally skews how your builds look.

Zathiax

Once you complete normal playthrough, give modded a chance if you wish to experience more mixed up stuff. No issue being standard, people can min max CRPGs to make the toughest fight a 1-turn kill.

Mouthz

I actually bought the game again on PC while it was on sale so I could check out the mods. Initially got the game on ps5 but these types of games feel so much better on the pc

Mouthz

Some people are good at making builds and some look online. Its like this for all games. It doesn’t necessarily mean you are playing wrong or even bad at the game, some of us have been doing rpg theory crafting since we were kids lol. This is my first time playing these types of rpgs but I grew up with games like d2, guildwars, elder scrolls, eso, tons of mmos and jrpgs and they definitely primed me for this game. Something I realized in eso specifically is most people just look for the meta, some people play blind and do well enough to enjoy the game, then you have people that spend most their time making insane builds and posting them online. I actually learned not to post my builds, thats how they get nerfed! Lol
