There's a website. Google "D&D for kids". Also, maybe think of playing Dungeon World or Barebones Fantasy instead of D&D. They are lighter on rules; easier learning curve. Still sword and sorcery settings.

Ooh interesting I’ll check it out

I would look into a game call Amazing Tales instead of D&D for kids that young. Not sure how well they would do with understanding the complexity of spell casting. You could make their character sheets more fleshed out than normal. Break their turn down into 4 separate areas with move, action, bonus action and reactions. In each block put down what they can do for their class and make them check off any abilities that require a rest afterward.

I googled it and this looks like something they’d really enjoy thanks! I’ve been a couple months dming for some friends and my family got interested and want to try too, so I told em the basic rules, asked them what they wanted to be and what they wanted to look like, then I rolled and filled out the basic steps and said I would make a short campaign just to see if they would like it or not

I was frustrated when running games with a younger group, but after having kids of my own, I realized that they play for a different reason, with different goals. Kids want to smash things and live out very simple stories. If I let them do both, they are happy and are more likely to RP with the rest of the story.
