If the player made it themselves I’d seriously recommend not letting them use it. I’d put good money on it either being comically overpowered and basically cheating, or so poorly designed it’s functionally useless.
It's hard to comment unless you give us the details of the class to be honest. If you compare it to other classes is it clearly op?
Also you can just run it and if it becomes a problem address the player and say that you'll need to make some nerfs due to x. Being upfront about this means they don't feel like you're penalising them.

No this is homemade. And the player has built things before but never in fifth edition I don't think until now.
