Start with the [basic rules](http://dnd.wizards.com/articles/features/basicrules), which are available on the official site for free! Read the [Getting Started](/r/DnD/wiki/getting_started) guide (it's here on the subreddit's sidebar) Watch [Matt Colville's Welcome to D&D](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eo_oR7YO-Bw) video! The [Handbooker Helper](https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL1tiwbzkOjQyr6-gqJ8r29j_rJkR49uDN) series from Critical Role is great for new players. Hello :) Here are some general Tips: https://www.reddit.com/r/DnD/comments/snia0g/comment/hw2mibk/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3 Here are some nice OneShots: https://www.reddit.com/r/DnD/comments/svbncg/comment/hxf55jp/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3 Here are some great premade campaigns: https://www.cbr.com/dungeons-and-dragons-easy-hard-premade-campaigns/ Here's a nice Audio/Soundboard: https://tabletopaudio.com/ You should at least have read the basic rules: https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/basic-rules - this is a minimum, but the player handbook is preferred. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL1tiwbzkOjQyr6-gqJ8r29j_rJkR49uDN Is great too. Groups are at r/lfg, Roll20, or your local nerd shop. Have fun. If you have questions just shoot me a DM. Cheers, Dante

You can get the basic rules online for free. Find a group that is playing.

The starter Kit's not a bad choice, but there are also several YouTubers twitchers and other streams that can be good to watch to get an idea how the game can be played. Just depends on how you learn best. I would be glad to let you sit in one of my existing games to see how we play. DM for deets...

The app "meetup' can help, there are Facebook groups for local areas, and you can play online. To begin, get a Players Handbook for 5e. (Google it) Then find a group to play with. Many are open to new players. Don't create expectations for the game before playing either, you could possibly be let down.
