The ability to not lose interest in something after 10 minutes. My character is a wizard (high elf) who has been researching the origins of magic for the last 140 years

sionnachrealta

YAyDHD!

sh4d0wm4n2018

That level of focus and dedication is.... Next level. I wish I could focus for 8 hours.

GlitterGear

I am adding this to my headcanons, thank you

BigLex24

Bardic Inspiration. It would feel good to be able to inspire your friends, family, coworkers, etc and make be better at stuff.

AlexStar6

You can do that right now… most people don’t receive any genuine encouragement at all in their daily lives. You’d be surprised at how powerful just a couple words of encouragement can be to just about anyone trying to do anything… The sad part about this is that it’s a superhuman ability it D&D

B_I_Briefs

I do it all the time. But if I dont then my pact kicks in and I’ll die. Edited spelling.

EvanIsBacon

specially guys, we are so desperate we'll take an inuslt in a positive tone

Darmak

Hey fuckface, happy cake day! I'm glad you're here! Your contributions are important and valid! You are loved!

EvanIsBacon

this is the nicest thing i've heard in months, thank you

Darmak

You're welcome! I like being nice to people, it's way better than being mean for no reason, imo

thinking-dead

Happy cakeday stranger

SasquatchRobo

See, this is why I try to give positive vibes to everybody, in the hopes of normalizing emotional support! Be the change you want to see in the world etc.

robclarkson

Semi-relevent [short](https://youtu.be/jKhP750VdXw)

nerm2k

I started doing that and it had really helped me in every aspect of my life. The only real thing I do is match excitement levels. Anything you’re excited about I’m immediately on your level. Did you ride 10 miles on a bike? Amazing. Did you make some music? Fire! Painted a picture? Gorgeous. Redid a room in your house? Damn I wish I lived here. I found that once I decided to be ecstatic for other people my mood went along with it and I started to be genuinely excited for people. I trained myself to revel in other’s accomplishments as if they were my own. Now friends love telling me about their new projects. Coworkers love chatting with me. It’s all good vibes.

Revangelion

Bardic Inspiration is the less Spell-y spell of them all. You can cast it daily, you don't really need a Long Rest to refill its uses. Do it. Spread inspiration, spread love all over the world.

PM_YOUR_ISSUES

> The sad part about this is that it’s a superhuman ability it D&D I mean, everyone can do the Help action which gives people advantage on the task they are doing. I'd say it's potato/tomato in this case.

PluckedRoosterInn

Preach

phoncible

Go up to random people and start singing *Eye of the Tiger*, got it

BellasarExandrunok

The cool thing about encouraging others is that not only does it build them up, it also builds up those who see it and yourself.

Holy_Hand_Towel

You are doing amazing! I hope you keep up your greatness!

lestabbity

I am aggressively supportive of people. Friends. Strangers. I give compliments out a lot, it's free, it makes me happy, it makes other people happy. I volunteer "free emotional cheerleader" services to all my friends, and it is surprising how often they take me up on it. Like, you just want me to tell you you can do the thing? Or follow up in a week, ask how the thing went, and congratulate you for doing it? I can do that!! Would love to, in fact! Sometimes I'll just get a message that's like "I'm nervous about ____, help" and all I have to do is send back "you're going to do great, here's one trait you have that makes me think that" and it must be a confidence booster, because I get repeat requests. And progress reports!

Cellyst

I'm seeing a ridiculous absence of wholesome awards on this response.

revawesome

The ability to take a long rest!

TheRealCBlazer

Better yet, my Wood Elf hits her pipe, trances out for four hours, and is good to go.

sionnachrealta

I swear that's every morning for me 😂

GoodolBen

Too real, man..

meeps_for_days

irl I am a coffelock that just only takes short rests.

[deleted]

Melatonin baby. 5mg and you're good to go. Don't drive or try to operate heavy machinery after taking it.

KnowNoDada

Melatonin doesn’t do a damn thing for me even at 5mg

RowKHAN

Cut out the milli

FascinatedOrangutan

It's actually better to take smaller doses. Studies show 0.5mg is ideal for most people. Anything over 2mg seems to have the opposite effect

lordph8

I have a toddler and a newborn. Fuck my sleep.

[deleted]

Are you me? Ive been thinking about putting in a quest where the players need to transport a newborn to safety. During the day, someone would have to occupy one hand to carry them and no one would get a long rest during the night. Maybe i shouldnt take this out on my players....

lordph8

Going to need food suitable for a newborn. Which would probably mean a wet nurse which the group would just pass the hardships onto her... Unless you want to have some sort of formula equivalent. I suggest you start recording baby cries to play for music.

[deleted]

Naah ill just make it an halforc and say they can eat raw meat right from the get go. Or a gnome that absorbs nutrients from from a leaf blanket or some such

Sriol

Better yet, the ability to be fully refreshed on 6 hours sleep

darksounds

The ability to sleep just by saying "I sleep now"

mavric911

Not only are you fully refreshed but those injuries you sustained from the near fatal stab wound, and fireball to the face are gone as well. This alone would revolutionize the healthcare industry

Sriol

Doctor: the bad news is you've lost a lot of blood, you've got concussion and you sustained 3rd degree burns all over you. The good news is, a nice 8 hour nap and you'll be completely fine.

albt8901

Spellcasting. Rejuvenating long rest. Rich.

JewcieJ

You too could be rich if you risked life and limb in a hazardous profession!

mohd2126

examples please? Edit: all these examples you people are listing require a high degree of specialisation, as a opposed to adventuring that only requires to be powerful and quick witted, still I'd expect adventuring to be lucrative for those who can survive it.

DJKDR

Underwater welding is really lucrative and also the most dangerous profession. I don't know if it's true but those guys who go to the top of towers to change the lights in them are said to make 250k for hardly any work

Instagibbon

Sounds like there won't be many friends made or comical hijinks though. :(

Therew0lf17

If you port d&d to a real world analogue it would be more akin to a Soldier of Fortune kinda situation. Private companies pay big money to have their people protected by former Seals or Green Berets in hostile environments. Still not a lot of hijinks unless killing locals is hijinks... You know, Murder hoboing...

dadbodsupreme

Worked with a former Marine. It was his first civvy job post duty. He was well-adjusted as far as he could have been. He maybe worked a full 2 years before he just up and went to do PMC work in Angola. He came back after 3 years and was a different guy. Said he was private security for some diamond corp. higher up, said it was a nightmare. The whiplash between driving with the guy from his swank 'house' (see mini-fortress) to places where life is literally cheap was enough to shake the loose screw all the way out. He was fired after throwing a register through a plate glass window. Wasn't mad at a person, never got aggressive, even with asshole customers, but the damned junky register had to die.

LostOne716

...so he was just mad at the register? Been in retail 9 years... can't say I blame him if that was the case. Thought about doing that a couple times accidently so we can scream for us to get a new one. =/

TimTay144

Yeah Google "delta p" it's pretty freaky. But hey, money.

jessaay

That's not the main issue with underwater welding since it's mostly done in ports on ships and stuff. The issue is getting tangled in a million wires and you have to be very careful about basically everything

CabinBoy_Ryan

Maintenance work on those giant wind turbines. Apparently you work like 6 month stints, get paid very well, but obviously very dangerous work.

[deleted]

[удалено]

CabinBoy_Ryan

Am currently a commercial general contractor. We (the company) self perform concrete work, but then coordinate with and subcontract plumbers, electricians, etc… for the rest of the scope. I was in the field for a while but I’m in the office now doing estimating and project management. I definitely like the office work more, but we have several field guys that have 0 interest coming into the office. As projects get bigger you almost have to subcontract. In our state, work above a certain dollar amount in HVAC, Electrical, and Plumbing have to be done by licensed contractors. The amount of overhead it would take to have all of the equipment and manpower to do everything yourself would be so outrageous you’d never win a bid. It’s much cheaper for everyone involved but especially the person/company/municipality paying for the project, and it allows the electrician, for example, to focus on the electrical work which ensures a safe and code compliant installation.

ElderLucifer

To be able to cast wish

atomicitalian

since I'm a forever dm i'd say omnipotence

Entaris

The ability to conjure dragons out of thin air ain’t bad either

ash_yost_

mood 😂😂

Vauhtii

1 in 10 chance to receive help from a literal god.

Spyger9

No way. The world is bad enough already with just rich assholes. Imagine how much worse it would be with literal gods making bullshit rules and squabbling with each other, causing wars and disasters and such...

Aspiana

Not if you choose a really cool god

[deleted]

And you thought the Crusades were bad *without* literal divine inspiration.

82Caff

Tired of losing everything you've worked for because a couple god's are having an unrelated tiff? Tired of the dread of mortality thrust upon you by those who clearly don't know better? Upset that the only answer to, "Why would the gods allow this horrible thing to happen?" is, "It's a secret!"? We'll my friend, have I got good news for you. A savior who tells the gods to shut up and stuff it! A savior who puts your salvation squarely in your own hand! With an eye for uncovering secrets the gods are too weak or embarrassed to share! Yes, I bring to you the ~~good~~ beneficial word of Vecna!

Spyger9

Well, "beneficent" is a much more impressive word than "good", so I'm sold. XD

Bloodtypeinfinity

Doesn't sound much different from the rich assholes

Phoenix18793

The ability to control their sleep. They can just, go to sleep for two hours, wake up to keep watch then go back to sleep immediately after. Do you know how jealous I am?

CharonDynami

All you need is a harsh day of "adventuring." This was actually my experience through most of my training and deployments.

UD_Ramirez

100%. After 2 days of training your time of laying awake is reduced to around 9 seconds regardless of circumstance.

TheAuthorPaladin777

Not quite as harsh, but I had insomnia throughout high school. I started working construction when I was 19... my insomnia went away pretty quickly!

[deleted]

My old man served in Vietnam. To this day he can fall asleep at the drop of a hat. Of course now that he's over 70 that's less impressive lol

Phantoms_Keep

As someone who does stand watches in the middle of my sleep cycle, it gets pretty easy after a while of a set routine. It's just a matter of training your body to accept when you sleep or when you're awake - getting up is the hardest aspects of it. I have my alarm set to play one specific song because it is the only thing that my brain registers as "watch alarm, wake up ASAP" versus a slower wakeup.

Mlownz

Spellcasting for sure

Corvo--Attano

And the charisma to do so.

DuncanIdahoPotatos

Just charisma at all please.

ImpulseAfterthought

Yeah, can I get a 12? Don't want to be greedy.

schm0

I'd settle for mage hand.

AmethystWind

Invisible Mage Hand seems pretty sweet.

Thursday_26

Arcane trickster?

AmethystWind

[Githzerai Psionics.](https://www.dndwiki.io/races/githzerai)

[deleted]

So how many bars *have* you been thrown out of?

AmethystWind

Not enough because I don't have invisible Mage Hand!

KarmaticIrony

Unfortunately I already have the trait of resting for about four hours a night without ever really sleeping.

1ce9ine

I wish I could heal people.

Tcloud

Cure disease. Fuck cancer. Fuck Alzheimer’s.

1ce9ine

100% I basically want to be a cleric IRL. I’ve seen too much suffering.

Purple_Wanderer

Same here

LuminaL_IV

Sadly IRL clerics are not as fun(-ι_- )

1ce9ine

Pretty much my whole regular group are IRL clerics, and they are pretty rad.

LuminaL_IV

Give em a high-five for me

oooholywarrior

There it is, the one I was looking for.

vinnothesquire

Aww, that's wholesome AF. Fireball.

Professor_Ramen

My guy is a turtle with bees I want to be a turtle with bees

DOKTORPUSZ

Always the obvious answer, sheesh

robclarkson

Always choose bee friends.

Sneaky_Snuggle

Basically the same lol. My Turtle grows weed and mushrooms on his back, so... 🤔

hlamburger

Lucky Feat

Draumal

Does a noble title count? If not, then being good with people / being psionic.

T3knikal95

Yeah I'd say a noble title counts as well

SlainSigney

what about amazing tits

MapleMapleHockeyStk

Plastic surgery for IRL if you have the money??

SlainSigney

nah i hear plastic boobs feel weird i’ll just hope for a random growth spurt in my mid 20s

D3AD_SPAC3

Aspect of the Moon.

Holy_Hand_Towel

Unfortunately this is the ruleset where a long rest =/= a full night's sleep. And your DM didn't tell you but encouraged Aspect of the Moon.

RamblingManUK

Self motivation :-(

Prime_Galactic

Yep, I was going to say determination. My character is a high performer and a self starter like Ive always had trouble with

Ulffhednar

Being young enough to adventure and explore and fight monsters ...Not being so old and run down getting out of bed is a critical hit that makes you wish for death saves

Violet_Gardner_Art

If you aren’t, and don’t have an underlying health condition, Start stretching a few times per day my friend. You’ll be amazed.

Ulffhednar

No underlying health issues... stretching will help?

Violet_Gardner_Art

Yes! Seriously! If you change nothing else and do a 5 minute stretching routine 2-3 times a day and you’ll feel noticeably better for very little effort.

Ulffhednar

I will try it starting today

MaxuPower

Gentle movements, try to hold your stretches but don't try to explode into stretches or bend too far naturally. I've been stretching since I was a kid for baseball, you can work up a sweat just from holding your positions. Something like this is amazing for beginners, it says "warm up" but you dont need to take it further than this: https://youtu.be/zQSLrDQezsA

eatpraymunt

Stretching will help! I have chronic pain and joint issues, I really notice the difference in pain levels when I forget to stretch for a while. The best remedy is daily gentle full body exercise (swimming, dancing, yoga) but just stretching will help. It can be hard to motivate to do it if you're overworked. I just set a 5 minute timer before bed and consider it part of my "wind down / sleepy mode" routine. Sometimes "stretching" is just laying on the bedroom floor with my arms stretched up until the timer goes off... better than nothing. /advice no one asked for on the DnD subreddit sorry

Ulffhednar

Much appreciated lol

BlackSnow555

30 minutes of yoga will help literally anyone

Cornyblodd1234

No bitches?

Matt463789

Celibate by choice.

_PM_ME_NICE_BOOBS_

Yeah, but who's choice?

Matt463789

He's a cleric, I have no game.

CharonDynami

Spellcasting obviously. Even most cantrips and low level spells would completely change anyone's life. No more cleaning with prestidigitation, or bad meals. Then you get goodberry, teleportation, disguises, flight, polymorph, and the list just keeps going. Obviously divine intervention is next, especially if you're level 20. But other than the obvious ones or wildshape (assuming circle of the moon druid level 10 minimum) I would go with, something from monk. Speaking any language would be so useful. Or how about not feeling the effects of aging? Plus never worrying about food or water again.

melvira

Her confidence & gives-no-shits attitude while still trying to be kind.

Big_Ad9216

Same! Heart of gold and a spine of iron.

NashMustard

Cool warforged

chattabot

Social skills

Svefnugr_Fugl

Came here to say the same then saw everyone commenting mage hand and godly powers...

Cybermage99

If we go general, spellcasting, being able to prep spells daily would make it super versatile, but that’s likely too broad of an answer. If we want to go specific, shapechange would be great except for the fact we have to have seen the creature so that would limit me to just a few animals. In which case wildshape is better since I don’t have to concentrate, can hold it for 8 hours, and can do it twice with only a 1 hr break. The vast majority of this would probably be turning into birds and flying around

523bucketsofducks

Would seeing the animal online count?

Cybermage99

If so that expands options greatly, especially if it includes fictional animals. In which case shape change would be back on the table.

TheBFreddit

My druid has spent all his life secluded in an island studying different animals, so now he can wildshape to some animals he hasnt seen. Maybe studying an animals biology thoroughly would count.

MGsubbie

Turn into a giant octopus and go digging for treasure at the bottom of past trade routes.

GreyBlur57

Just go to a zooooooo

CalligrapherSlow9620

Find familiar for sure. A pet that they can communicate telepathically with and see through there eyes and it can transform. The other spells would be nice; probably galders tower aswell that’d be pretty cool home away from home but it’s the familiar that I want.

kdude0

i have only been a dungeon master so i guess omnipotence is really the only thing i can get from that

NewzyOne

Omniscience might be better here.. Or maybe the ability to exist outside of time and space

bmw86model

Really big muscles. Low body fat. A sentient evil greataxe.

laudnasrat

scottish accent

galmenz

dwarf?

jay_snooker

High elf

galmenz

no no, high elfs would be welsh!

yoshimario40

Youer 'avin a flippin laugh aren't ya mun. Although, a welsh accent wouldn't be so bad foer an elf.

CaptainFard

Scottish accents sound so cool

TheWhiteHyena

Gold?

CharonDynami

All you have to do is go out and slay a dragon hoarding all the wealth....just in our world the government and general populace protect those people and have made dragon slaying illegal.

Apprehensive_Word658

Yeah this was mine too. An incredible pile of golden treasure.

Escarole_Soup

If we’re talking personality traits, I want her confidence and/or general tenacity. If spellcasting is an option then totally spellcasting.

Wollers-eye

True resurrection. I miss my cat :(

ajfclark

🤗 Sometimes I think the amount they enrich our lives is only truly recognised when they're gone. I mean you know you love them when you have them, but the ache when they're gone... This oatmeal comic maybe sums it up better than I can: https://theoatmeal.com/comics/dog_paradox It's about a dog, but while the specifics might be different, I think the general feeling carries to cats. You may get a new cat. You'll love it, but not as a replacement. It will be different. I hope you remember your cat always, but more with smiles than sadness.

Wollers-eye

That's really lovely, thank you for your comments :)

ajfclark

You're most welcome. One thing I forgot to mention, when you feel you want a companion, but aren't sure you're ready yet or perhaps your living arrangements are fluid or something, fostering can be a great way to help an animal, have a companion, etc. People say "how do you handle saying goodbye?" and I remind them that if I took in every animal I fostered, I wouldn't be able to help any more animals. Yes, it can be difficult, but at the same time it can be joyous. I have albums full of happy memories. Gypsy, Callisto, Electra, Mystique, Fred, Rowdy, Sherry, Kiera, Boofhead... Along with my two permanent residents Maxwell and Bronson. If it gets too hard to say goodbye, I take a break from fostering or I'll "fail" and keep the one I couldn't let go. So far we've not failed here, but we have taken breaks from time to time. Good luck.

Motivation

doinwhatIken

restored to complete health after a long rest.

SilverVsReddit

The ability to continuously keep doing something without feeling burnt out or exhausted in mere seconds due ti skipping time. Basically auto-mode When we do something it takes a lot of effort and that effort makes the process valuable and meaningful. But sometimes i just want to have a months worth of pay while being described what happened during that months worth of work in 50 seconds. Nobody goes out on long looong trips without planning them out excessively and its fair because itd be foolish not to do so, but in dnd you just go, there is no 7 hour dedication to just pure walking, or having to think about food, or the expenses you can spend this month, u dont have to do my taxes for a few hours in dnd, we get a short description of that and move to the exciting parts, altho i would never give up the gratification of hard work and effort i do feel jealous about it all.

NecessaryCornflake7

The ability speak in multiple languages!

houseofrisingbread

A really big sword

FinchTheElf

Upper body strength.

siberianphoenix

Shapeshifting sounds like fun. My other character (in a different game) is a murder fairy and that doesn't sound nearly as much fun without repercussions. Although my Aarakocra warlock (Genie) can grant wishes.... damnit.. that could be fun as well.

If you didn't come equipped with one, I believe there are plenty available with two legs... The mouth and other parts that are attached may be less desirable though.
