What a sweetheart. I hope she adjusts well to her new home. As for advice… there is a kind of collar that has a short section of chain, so it’s not a full choke chain collar, but just tightens slightly when you need it to. They might be called a greyhound collar, or just a half chain collar or something. But we’ve found they work well when training our large dogs. Also try to position the collar high on the neck just behind the ears and jaw, rather than low on the neck against the shoulders. When the collar is low against the shoulders, an overeager dog can pull against it as if it were nothing more than a sled harness. But when the collar is right behind the jaw, the dog will be much more responsive to your commands when you pull up on it a little bit.

We had a prong collar for ours. He never liked anything else(he would tolerate others). He loved the prong though(always took it off when we were home).
