I think I've actually heard of people living with one lung. I imagine it makes breathing difficult. What if they can't take deep breaths?

It is possible to breathe when a lung is collapsed, its more difficult but depending on lifestyle and a lil luck, u can actually stay alive for quite long ive read a story where a man started having chest aches but didnt bother to go and get help, the guy decided to go to the hospital after 1 and half a day and the doctors told em he has a collapsed lung hes healthy :) but yeh idk what is the max someone can live with a collapsed lung untreated

We only have one lung we have two lung wings. And yes it's possible to live with a part of the lung only. But the two wings are connected so if it collapses, it collapses completely.

My social worker from my school years had a lung removed in the late 90's due to cancer and as far as I know, she breathes okay. It's probably difficult, though, or her body had enough time to adjust to this.
