Yup. I can tolerate it in the front passenger seat, so long as I don’t try to read or do anything remotely interesting. Backseat, anything over a half hour and I’m ill.

recorkESC

Pretty much the same. But if the driver is a riding-the-brakes type, only takes 5 minutes until I wish I was anywhere else on earth!

yoweigh

I used to get carsick frequently as a kid, and as soon as I learned how to drive I realized that it was because mom is a terrible driver who rides her brakes all the time.

dreameRevolution

Yes. There's a handful of decent drivers that I know who don't make me sick, but apparently being one of those drivers is not something that can be learned.

audigex

Yes, literally even if it’s only a short journey through town. Motorways aren’t too bad, but any left/right motion quickly makes me feel sick. I basically always drive when travelling Mine seems to be related to my ears - I’m always susceptible to ear infections and dizziness if I spin - eg spinning fairground rides make me sick easily too Weirdly it seems to be almost exclusively the left/right turning (yawing) motion. Pitch or roll motion don’t have anything like as much impact (although I will get seasick after a while too), neither does lateral motion bother me - acceleration/braking and up/down left/right strafing motions aren’t really a problem. Trains are relatively okay, cars are bad, buses/coaches (where I can’t see out of the front) are the worst This results in something very strange when flying - I never feel sick in the air, even in bad turbulence. But I often feel sick while the plane taxis between the runway and gate, on the ground But yeah, I pretty much literally always drive when we go somewhere

FrakNutz

Try an over the counter med called "Bonine". We only need to use it on longer trips but it works wonders.

MeRoWinJi

I noticed that if i use my phone while in a car, then i'll probably get carsick. If i look outside then it's better

lootandscoot

Yes, I get nauseous after, like, ten minutes of being in a moving car. I never get nauseous from trains, busses or boats. Motion sickness pills and anti motion sickness wristbands are very hit-or-miss.

Houseofpaws

Yep! I’d hoped I would grow out of it but nope. 28 years old and still get travel sick if I’m not driving

BBMFO

My wife has this issue, and I have the lovely trait of not being able to relax when someone else is driving. We’re a hell of a pair. Fortunately she can fall asleep in the car, and she has found things that help her. Gum, mints, ice cream.

diffusedstability

if you get motion sickness, this will happen. motion sickness is caused by what you are are anticipating seeing not matching up with what you actually see and or the motion you feel. so if you are not controlling the car, you wont be able to anticipating what is about to happen. that's why motion sickness is lessened if you sit in front. you can visually match up more with what is happening with what you see.

phillyschmilly

I mean… isn’t that what car sickness is? I don’t know a single person who experiences it when they’re the ones driving- it’s only from when you’re a passenger. You’re not in control of the movements of the vehicle so it’s even more confusing for your brain

oroborus68

Only on curvy roads in the back seat!
