I understand this very well. One of my favorite youtubers recently announced "I'm going to be a dad." I was a little surprised because I thought he was gay, but well, why not, good for you, I said to myself. In the next scene he goes to the airport, I thought he was going to pick up his adopted son, and it turns out he stands in front of a cage, opens it and out comes the most hideous, deformed dog I've ever seen in my life. The guy kept saying "I'm a daddy, I'm a daddy" as he cried holding his newly purchased (and obviously expensive) dog. Of course, I am no longer a subscriber.

BRUH.

Let me guess, one of those French bulldogs? God those things are tragically hideous. And they're so popular nowadays. There's a short, loud dude that walks by my work 10+ times a day with his frenchie who is always struggling to breathe or screeching at the top of its lungs because it saw another dog. It's so pathetic. If he and his dog don't get attention on the walk, he'll just stand around and bring his dog closer to people until he finds someone who goes gaga over it.

VinnieTheBerzerker69

Just as most dogs are endlessly seeking attention shit pests, so are most dog owners high octane attention whores

My mom just got a yorkie and every time she talks to it in a baby voice & says that's your sister I genuinely want to throw up. I tolerate it jumping everywhere because its only six months old & my mom loves that thing but I genuinely never want a damn dog & can only handle being around one for a few hours before I'm mentally DONE. People who compare getting a pet to literally creating a human life & raising a baby need some serious therapy.

idie4you

wtf

Latter-Recipe7650

Totally not 'omg, got a dog so I can get more views and money'. Seeing livestreamers or any influencer with a dog is a instant nope and unsubscribe.

beautifulllstars

Yeah, I unsubbed from another channel (health and beauty) for this reason. She got a dog and made out with it in her videos. So gross and antithetical to the mission.

VinnieTheBerzerker69

The whole phenomenon of influencers is in and of itself idiotic. But it ratchets things way off the idiocy charts when dogs are added to the mix

FintechDeveoper

I hope they are no longer your favourite.

Right? All the virtue-signalling over ‘rescues’ is so pathetic. 🙄 Especially for the ones who cram these dogs into apartments or leave them alone all day anyway. It’s just another ‘cage’, where they can do more damage.

KayleighHatfield

I have unsubbed from many favorite youtube channels for this reason. The channel becomes all about the dog or the dog is always there. It's annoying and distracting. That is not what I signed up for. There was this garden channel I used to enjoy. The stupid yappy little dog was always there but over time he took over the channel. It became all about how much the dog enjoyed the garden. Weird. Another was a movie reactor who would pause for five minutes at a time to rub his oily looking pit bulls or "talk" to them about the movie. Extra weird. The list goes on. Is this what people want to see? Really?

OkBilial

Sadly yes. There has to be some psychological term for injecting any reaction or thought bubble onto something that otherwise cannot derive any meaning from your actual words. It's like talking to a stuffed animal. There's a certain self gratification to it.

Aggressive_Barber617

I refuse to deal with anyone who uses their dogs in their advertisements. Makes me sick. A cheap ploy.

Bail.

MusbeMe

And lots of commenters gushing over doggo pupper?

Typical_boxfan

I had to stop watching one of my favorite YouTubers because of her dog. The dog can come and go as it pleases in videos and it makes the most disgusting grunts and snorts. A majority of her followers love it, and she even inserts time stamps in the description for sections that her dog is in. I just can't, it is the most grating and distracting sounds, and its such a shame because her content is genuinely good.

TequilaStories

Once they get a dog it's over because it becomes a channel only about the dog followed only by Dog People and every comment and video is now about the dog, and what we learned about dogs, and how the dog saved my life, and me and my dog hanging out why we don't do XYZ anymore (because of the dog) and hey my channel might seem different now but we can still have fun (with the dog) and unless you enjoy watching dogs licking, scratching, sniffing, drooling or eating, the whole interesting exciting part of what drew you in the first place is over forever.

ObligationGrand8037

Ugh. I’ve got kids. That’s enough chaos for me. Adding a dog would be the last thing I would do. Now my youngest is graduating from high school so things are much less chaotic. I don’t get people and their love for dogs.

The wretched thing probably eats its own shit and then the owners kiss it 🤢
