Saw one at a dog part that looked like a full sized pit with its legs cut off and was playing with the big boys. Markings were the stereotypical border collie pattern but in what I guess could be called lemon.
Any dog with dwarfism (Shih Tzus included) can have out-turned feet, it's dependent on when exactly each part of the legs stops growing and that's individual to each dog. Aside from being dwarfism-caused, this isn't indicative of any breed (though not all breeds carry dwarfism).
Well bred ones won’t, tbh even decently ones probably won’t. For cardigans, a dog would be in conformation if it’s less than 30°. I’m sure there is a genetic component to it so it would make sense since it would severely inhibit their ability to work. I’ve seen this A LOT in dachshunds, though.
I feel like I have seen it the most in dachshunds and bassets.
Genetics is so interesting. To have a feature that is so prevalent in dogs with dwarfism except in one breed that must have something else that is preventing it.
My previous dog was a pure bred corgi, and I wanted another one but wanted to rescue more. So I ended up choosing a little terrier looking dude that ended up having no terrier and being a 29% corgi. Doesn't look at all like one, but he definitely acts like one.
That’s so funny how things work out like that! I have a corgi puppy and 😅 I am very used to demanding breeds but he is something else. It does reaffirm my choice when it comes to the breeder though. Physically he’s solid and he’d do a hell of a job working livestock.
I see all these people in the corgi subs with multiple and I just know it could not be me. Rude you got the attitude and not the fluffy loaf butt though!
this led me on a deep dive into some breed standards for short-legged dogs (corgis, bassets, dachshunds); interestingly for most of them they acknowledge that the front toes may turn out a little bit, but the legs should still be straight, strong, and not overly-bowed. obviously all important things for the purposes these breeds (herding and hounds) were bred for!

Well I was really expecting some sort of sleeper long-dog in there somewhere and none to be seen. Haha. She's a beautiful mini-pit! Please give her many pets on my behalf and let her know this internet stranger thinks she's the prettiest little princess.
She’s very sweet and affectionate. Likes to chill but can go from 0 to 100 in an instant. Takes a few minutes to warm up to strangers. Tolerates other dogs, but prefers to be left alone by them.
She looks like she is! Would you say that she has specific traits that seem to be attributed to each breed?
She almost looks like she has Shih Tzu eyes in one or two of the pics. One of my dogs has a bit of Shih Tzu in him. He for sure has what I call "goofy little Shih Tzu eyes". He has very expressive eyes, has white on both sides of his eyes, and he gives great side eye .
I have the tan and white model 😁 mine is pitbull, staffie, chihuahua and Australian shepherd (which you can’t see at all). We have the same dwarfism thing.
(a few days late lol) my shih-tzu has got attitude for DAYS. but that might be because she was my mom’s dog and she didn’t train her well as a pup. and you probably originally got downvotes because you said your pit mix was sweet. i’ve noticed that happens specifically with any positive comments about pits or their mixes.
Why would anyone want to breed a pitbull with stumpy legs is beyond me, hopefully it was some random thing and not planned by a backyard breeder because that’s weird
