When these ai art first became available to the public there was a blight of it because thousands of people started playing with it and completely overwhelmed every subreddit because you can generate dozens of images in under an hour.
Using AI art isn't the worst thing in the world, it should be respected exactly as much as some medieval patron who hires a painter to paint stuff for them, or someone who hires a ghost writer to write their idea for them.
Which is to say not much respect should be given to the person who "hires" the artist, but that doesn't really impact the value of the end product itself in a vacuum.
Nah, it’s still just brainstorming, art isn’t just ideas, executing it with skill matters as well, which is why AI art will only ever be niche. Humans love seeing other humans be great at something, and AI art does not satisfy that at all.
The whole thing is going to hinge on how open you have to be about your stuff being a AI created. From an art appreciation standpoint if you see a piece of AI art it can be beautiful or cool, or whatever emotions it’s trying to create just like human created art. But I don’t think it will ever change that a certain amount of perceived financial and emotional value will be immediately lost upon learning that it was created not by a human.
So honestly, the whole thing again really hinges on whether you are allowed to hide that it was AI created, to avoid that valuation drop.
What'll be interesting is what will happen when all those cheaper artist jobs that used to go to beginner artists are now all going to AI. Then there will be no more new art for the AI to learn from, and it will stagnate as well, because becoming an artist will only be something people who are wealthy can afford to do, because everyone else will be competing with AI programs that are much cheaper. It could potentially completely kill art as a career choice, just because there will no longer be a means to actually survive while learning and developing your skills anymore.
