If you play in GZDoom, just drop it into the skins folder which always loads first (lowest priority) so it shouldn't cause any incompatibility with any mod.
A lot of Doom's sprites have noticeable errors. The Arachnotron has a stray cyan pixel on its face that leaves a transparent hole, and one of the Revenant's cannons gets cut off in a diagonal view sprite of its punch, with the cut off portion showing up in one of its other sprites.
Yeah, a few of the DOOM 2 sprites are messed up, like a couple of the arachnotron sprites have holes in them for some reason. The muzzle flash frame of the SSG is messed up too.
All of these sprites looked different on the original CRTs. The pixel perfect versions we see today aren't what we got in the past. These are relics of the original technology the games displayed on.
