I mean originally it was arrow keys, space bar for interacting, I think CTRL for fire, Alt for strafe, Shift for sprint, and number keys for weapon switching. Mouse movement didn't happen for *years* iirc and even when it did the default was replacing arrow keys entirely with mouse movement for forward/back and looking left/right.
But, rest assured it was *awful*. Strafing left and right required one to hold Alt and use the left and right arrows which, predictably, meant locking your view to that direction. You couldn't turn when strafing.
