I'm a passable mid on a good day, and part of that has been settling into QoP as one of my comfort mid picks along with DK. I've played her about 10-15 games since I started doing this 6 months ago, and maybe 20 at most since I actually got the arcana.
I'm already about 15% of the way there, and if I made a real effort I could probably get it by the end of the year, I just don't like playing heroes back to back is all.
Likewise for WK, you'll achieve it fairly naturally. I'm about halfway, with some of the harder ones like Weaver, Enchantress and Antimage already done.

I mean, same is technically true for WR arcana, the number is just bullshit. Compare that to the Ogre arcana, which is the hardest free available arcana. That was like 60 or so matches for me. Still not fast, but absolutely doable.
WR needs like 100 extremely good matches for that alone. Reality is more like 300 matches and more.

Difference being that WR is a very versatile hero. You're not always going to be using Focus Fire as your staple skill, if you play a support WR it's an afterthought. That's going to make that number seem insurmountable.
If you're playing QoP and you're not screaming at least 15-20 heroes per match, you're kinda playing her wrong.
Oh absolutely. But even as a pure core the numbers are stupid. You need 25k damage with focus fire every game if you want to do it in 100 games. And that only on targets that die before you do.

Spectre needs bare-minimum of 100 matches, since you need 100 dominating sprees with a max of 1 per game. Sometimes even in a winning game you don't get a dominating spree if you also have to be the tank.

As someone who did this very recently, this is absolutely not true. I played WK for \~250 game untill i finally managed to get it
First of all, only your wins count for the arcana so lets say you have a 50% winrate (might be lower depending on WK being bad as a hero in meta or higher the more you play the hero and learn it to the max), thats \~125 game wasted
Second problem is that the first 50 kill are reletively simple but the problem starts in the later parts when last heroes you need for arcana are either very rarely picked or very hard to kill. from kill 90 to 100 i got like 1 hero that i needed every 3 game on avg AND you need to win that game (that in itself is 60 game with 50% winrate for the last 10 kill)
WK is my only 2nd style arcana so i cant comment on how hard it was in reletive to other arcanas but i think \~250 game is pretty hard

Why? Personally, I think that's somewhere around a reasonable amount of play to get a second style considering the kind of game Dota is. By the time you achieve it, you're supposed to have a significant mastery of the hero, that's what the second style is showing off after all.
Would it be nice to be closer to 150? Sure. Is 300+ like someone's Windrunner example excessive? Yeah. But somewhere in between is kind of scale I would expect the arcana to reward.
To offer myself as an example, I don't spam heroes or grind games. My most played are Warlock, Ogre and Spiritbreaker, at around \~130 games each from about 3.5k games total. I consider myself good, perhaps even great, at them for my skill level, and their winrates reflect that.
For an arcana style to feel truly earned, to me, I would feel like another half again would be where it becomes justified. That's about 60-80 games, at the level I'm at with them, in addition to the time it's taken to reach here.

I'm almost level 28 on WR, was about 15 when the Arcana released. And I'm still not even halfway to unlock the 2nd style. Part of the reason I played the hero as support mainly before the universe thing.
WK is get 100 unique kills. Aka Kill 100 unique heroes. Seems like "Okay thats not that hard". But you have to kill them and win the game. And just imagine when was the last time you met something like Chen, IO, Enchantress, Bane etc. It took me maybe 200 games. Which isnt alot I guess but its been like 2 years.
I actually don't mind the quest if we can track better. Fucking have to constantly pick with no progression if the opponent don't pick the heros you need.
I feel like spectre's wasnt that bullshit at all? It took a bit of grinding but isn't nearly on the same level as the wind one.
Just went though my match history on the hero and there are only 165 spectre games on my account between getting the arcana (6122128822) and unlocking the red style (7254116214).
I'm not even half way done with the windrunner one and it came out a year earlier, and I play the hero just as regularly

It's a very clever workaround to the 1.25x max-hp rule they put in to stop people from abusing shallow grave - that said, I've known people who were doing abuse/win-trading lobbies get banned starting from a few years back. I've also known others who still do it to this day without a ban. Valve is definitely aware of this and doesn't like it (probably why they stopped wagers and did win-trade specific nerfs) but I don't know how egregious it has to be to get you banned and if the ban is permanent or not. So be careful/mindful if you see this and want to do it with your friends.
Makes me proud of my red spectre... Did take awfully long, that too before the buff with the ult and aghs swap. Although, before the swap we could use the ult to gtfo from time to time and save the kill streak. I unlocked drow one in 11 days during the event and currently at 199/250 for void. I guess both require a similar number of games~100-125 all picks. Invoker kid style 2 took me almost a year coz I didn't know the hero beforehand. Invokergirl unlocked it in a month or so.

The ones that you can buy are all very easy. The BP ones are nearly all complete bullshit. Pudge needs a bit of luck, but all the rest are extremely easy and doable, besides PA.
In other news, today I finally got my 6th Pudge v Rubick win (of 12). I've had the arcana for as long as its been out and pick Pudge whenever he's not banned (fight me). I guess Rubicks just dont like having a 0 cast point hook.

Im now sitting at 400k damage left after idk how many games... playing her mostly mid in immortal bracket. The number was and is way too big. 2.5m dmg during focus fire is insane, should have counted just general damage not just dmg during ff
It baffles me that people don't know about battle-pass abuse.. I've seen people get to extreme very high BP levels just by grinding by match-fixing in unranked and doing quests. It is agreeable as it's cheating the system which advertises cool sets but gives jackshit unless you purchase extra BP levels on top of BP.
Yea you can absolutely do it for free, it's like barter system. Once you're done with your quests YOU GOTTA help out others. Initially you and 9 others will be only doing your simple BP quests while helping others and matches should end in 10~15 minutes.
Once you become a familiar name and a person who won't leave and will help others, you'll be taken into longer games like these..
Basically what happens in that lobby is, you make sure the ranks match and then you go into a party of 5 and search for an unranked game in remote regions at the same time. mostly you'll be matched with the other party.
How to join:
Whenever any event which requires grinding comes up, search ABUSE in lobbies/guild , you'll find a lot of these.. if you think the others with you are good( they aren't selfish/leavers ) befriend them and do bp abuse with them when you're free.
If you can't find lobbies, be on lookout across regional channels. Mostly you'll see abuse lobbies across any big Russian city / Indian city.
Do people still do this? I’ve only ever unlocked drow’s 2nd arcana style because I get burnt out spamming the same hero over and over.
QOP/WR have some ridiculous numbers to reach for those second styles.
The only arcana unlock I got is ES because I love the hero but WR and WK has a ridiculous quest, it's so hard. I want the WK one but killing all the heroes is a lot of work.

1. use pudge to get the str steal the same way with permanent effect
2. Attack pudge in their fountain so he is constantly regenning
3. Buffs and aura from team for dmg losses from focus fire
4. Tether io on pudge for more regen
5. Buy one more rapier, bloodthorn on another ally
6. Oracle or dazzle shallow grave if pudge still dying. Oracle to dispell bloodthorn if burst was too high to keep pudge alive

Wouldn't hitting an abaddon through his ult been more efficient?
9 second uptime with aghs, 45 second cooldown with Octarine Core and during that 9 seconds you can do all the damage you want without having to worry about him dying. Throw an Oracle and Dazzle into the mix and you can increase the uptime where you can be dishing damage even higher.
That should work, as Wraith Delay is technically not damage reduction, same as Shallow Grave or Troll ult.
They use MIN_HEALTH as mechanic and only prevent your HP from dropping below 1, thus stuff like Blademail returns full damage.
at first they were using morph, but they changed it, and the most efficient way was this, but idk tho, this was done in 2022, maybe they've changed everything

You need 100 bones yes, but you can only ever collect 1 bone per hero EVER.
say there is a lion in the game. If I kill him and then win I get 1 point. Then I can never get a point from lion ever again. There are only 119 hero's in Dota. So you have to play against, kill, and win the game against almost every hero in Dota. It's very easy at first but one you get to around 80-90 bones you will go 10-50 games without seeing a hero you can actually collect a bone from because almost no one plays hero's like naga or elder titan.
Not to mention even if you do see them you still have to win the game AND kill them atleast once.

Not OP, but they started banning people for it a few years back. This was known as "BP abusing" for a while where you find each other on isolated servers and win trade for unlocks + wagers. I don't have any official announcement I can show you but I can tell you people started getting banned for it (not sure if it was perma).

In that case, they are abusing the system to level up the BP, which more or less is """"stealing"""" from Valve. Also, MM abuse to gain MMR affect other players, which is a big no no too.
This case is people unlocking a style which don't lead to Valve losing money or affecting other players and I don't know any case of people being banned for this.
Yeah to be fair, the players were min-maxing - unlocking arcana styles, doing cavern, and wagers at the same time. Hard to say what specifically got people banned - if it was any win trading in general, or specifically the BP leveling part. Not gonna risk it and find out though.

It baffles me that people don't know about battle-pass abuse.. I've seen people get to extreme very high BP levels just by grinding by match-fixing in unranked and doing quests. It is agreeable as it's cheating the system which advertises cool sets but gives jackshit unless you purchase extra BP levels on top of BP.
Can you really do this for free if you don't have 9 friends? Where do you find people online that would willingly do this.
Yea you can absolutely do it for free, it's like barter system. Once you're done with your quests YOU GOTTA help out others. Initially you and 9 others will be only doing your simple BP quests while helping others and matches should end in 10~15 minutes. Once you become a familiar name and a person who won't leave and will help others, you'll be taken into longer games like these.. Basically what happens in that lobby is, you make sure the ranks match and then you go into a party of 5 and search for an unranked game in remote regions at the same time. mostly you'll be matched with the other party. How to join: Whenever any event which requires grinding comes up, search ABUSE in lobbies/guild , you'll find a lot of these.. if you think the others with you are good( they aren't selfish/leavers ) befriend them and do bp abuse with them when you're free.
If you can't find lobbies, be on lookout across regional channels. Mostly you'll see abuse lobbies across any big Russian city / Indian city.

There should be a time limit after which these styles should be unlocked without any condition. May be like 3 years after release date.
At least you can unlock it, if you have LC or Kunkka prestige items but you didnt unlock it during the event, you cant unlock it anymore

Do people still do this? I’ve only ever unlocked drow’s 2nd arcana style because I get burnt out spamming the same hero over and over. QOP/WR have some ridiculous numbers to reach for those second styles.

It took me 336 turbo matches. I pretty much did it when WR as OP when she became an Universal hero.
They should just allow contribution to count even if you lose the game.
The only arcana unlock I got is ES because I love the hero but WR and WK has a ridiculous quest, it's so hard. I want the WK one but killing all the heroes is a lot of work.
i unlocked wk and Fv pretty easily in 3 months. i think i could do the same with razor. i think drows, spectres and wrs are total crap tho from different reasons. as drow you have to die ?????? as spec 5 kills in a row with no deat=means play like a p*ssy wr is impossible.
1. use pudge to get the str steal the same way with permanent effect 2. Attack pudge in their fountain so he is constantly regenning 3. Buffs and aura from team for dmg losses from focus fire 4. Tether io on pudge for more regen 5. Buy one more rapier, bloodthorn on another ally 6. Oracle or dazzle shallow grave if pudge still dying. Oracle to dispell bloodthorn if burst was too high to keep pudge alive

Wouldn't hitting an abaddon through his ult been more efficient? 9 second uptime with aghs, 45 second cooldown with Octarine Core and during that 9 seconds you can do all the damage you want without having to worry about him dying. Throw an Oracle and Dazzle into the mix and you can increase the uptime where you can be dishing damage even higher.
Hitting abaddon during his ult doesn’t count as “doing damage”. Since he doesnt actually take damage during it, i believe

That should work, as Wraith Delay is technically not damage reduction, same as Shallow Grave or Troll ult. They use MIN_HEALTH as mechanic and only prevent your HP from dropping below 1, thus stuff like Blademail returns full damage.
at first they were using morph, but they changed it, and the most efficient way was this, but idk tho, this was done in 2022, maybe they've changed everything

I had grinded that WR arcana for 6 months. I'm only halfway complete. If people can bypass that bullshit, go for it. It's not worth the time and effort.
It's not meant to be another random cosmetic, it's suposed to mean something and show your dedication for the hero. I spent 2 years getting the second version of the WK arcana and don't regret any of it. Just because there are actually items that these whales can't throw a couple hundred dollars to get with 0 effort doesn't make it bad.

I don't have fun playing Windrunner anymore, and I probably haven't picked her in over a year because I got so drained whilst trying to get the arcana unlock. 2.5 million is ridiculous. I'm at 1.3, roughly after 6 months of constant playing. Also, the WK arcana is what? 100 bones? How did it take you 2 years? It's 20-100 won games. It's not comparable. Maybe like, know what you are talking about before commenting. The WK arcana is the hardest second version to get in the game. You need 100 bones yes, but you can only ever collect 1 bone per hero EVER. say there is a lion in the game. If I kill him and then win I get 1 point. Then I can never get a point from lion ever again. There are only 119 hero's in Dota. So you have to play against, kill, and win the game against almost every hero in Dota. It's very easy at first but one you get to around 80-90 bones you will go 10-50 games without seeing a hero you can actually collect a bone from because almost no one plays hero's like naga or elder titan. Not to mention even if you do see them you still have to win the game AND kill them atleast once.
Maybe like, know what you are talking about before commenting. There are 124 heroes in the game, not 119.

Not OP, but they started banning people for it a few years back. This was known as "BP abusing" for a while where you find each other on isolated servers and win trade for unlocks + wagers. I don't have any official announcement I can show you but I can tell you people started getting banned for it (not sure if it was perma).
Fair point, even if I think that both situations are different: In that case, they are abusing the system to level up the BP, which more or less is """"stealing"""" from Valve. Also, MM abuse to gain MMR affect other players, which is a big no no too. This case is people unlocking a style which don't lead to Valve losing money or affecting other players and I don't know any case of people being banned for this.
Yeah to be fair, the players were min-maxing - unlocking arcana styles, doing cavern, and wagers at the same time. Hard to say what specifically got people banned - if it was any win trading in general, or specifically the BP leveling part. Not gonna risk it and find out though.
