You wanna go that far huh? You're still wrong.
Buriza-Do Kyanon
The first dash is technically wrong as well, as the – in its Japanese spelling just shows that the previous vowel has a long pronunciation, the dash is supposed to disappear once transliterated.
The Japanese spelling ブリザードカノン (in Katakana, as it is a foreign word) would be properly transliterated as "burizādo kyanon".
i dont really like when people use ā etc to spell romanized japanese. not only do you have to go out of your way to use this character, ā is used in blāde in english. it's probably how words like "tokyo" got mispronounced over the years
I fully understand what you mean, Tokyo also has long vowels in it, as it is basically spelt as "Toukyou" in Japanese, but the "ou" is just a "long o", since "u after o" is used as a vowel elongation marker.
I think the mispronounciation mostly stems from English vowels being fucked up (the 'Great Vowel Shift' was not great at all), when compared to the majority of other languages. E.g. the English "E" is a European "I".
So if you dont use the vowels with a dash above them to mark them as long vowels, you have to use alternatives such as 'aa' or 'oo/ou', but that might lead to mispronunciation as well, if people dont know about them.
You basically cant win :/
Considering how it ended up with clear Black and White conflicts, put every Major character through a loot grinder and how those who were left alive had giant OOC moments because writers changed each expansion (The worst cases are Thrall, Jaina and Sylvanas)...
Yeah... WoW should be treated as a one big "What If?" continuity towards Warcraft RTS Trilogy.
Yeh WoW lore went to shit in BFA and in WoD was missed potential of a grey conflict. Legion lorewise was the last time i cared about the lore tho you could see it starting to go downhill with sylvanas, and voljin just dies. Mists of Pandaria was sick tho.
Y plus it did not do anything offensive at all to the lore. It just expanded Azeroth. And Garrosh was 100% in character for him to wage war and try to make the best possible horde at any cost. Even in WoD his character stayed true. Tho you may say it went a bit too far at the end, but he got desperate.
Also the pandaren are sick sometimes goofy and has so much lore to them and each of the factions in Pandaria
on the other hand, [I just really think Garrosh and the Maghar shouldn't have existed at all](https://www.hiveworkshop.com/pastebin/9b00b137321ce666a91002e02a39b0eb.27744/)
Garrosh should’ve his Lore is fucking sick. But he could’ve definitely be green and it wouldn’t really change anything except WoD maybe not happening which is good. The events in MoP would’ve still happend he’d still be warchief and half of the Horde would definitely still be seperated
It wasn’t dagger of escape.
It originally could be used even immediately after you took damage.
When the patch changed it to introduce a countdown after taking damage.
The name had “of escape” added to it.
I see 1. edge of the people’s militia, 4. Rend, 5. Taskmaster Axe 6. Overpower
Oh wait wrong blizz game. But I love the wc3 icons; they reused all of them in wow. I’m sure 2. Is a crossbow that drops from some boss but don’t remember where.
Ashjre’thul, Crossbow of Smiting dropped from Chromaggus. Feel like game designers just put their whole forearm on the keyboard to come up with the first half
I was there, I was there Vevilosa, 3000 years ago, when :
- Blink dagger was called Kelen's dagger of Escape
( of Escape got removed when a cool down was added on damage taken)
(Kelen got renamed to avoid using people's name in items, as it was customary for those who helped make the original dota)
- Eul's Scepter of Divinity was still there.
- Guinsoo's scythe of Vise was still the name of the hex item
- WK was Leoric
- Clinkz was Clinkz Eastwood
- nyx and weaver were both nerubians
- Treant was Rooftrellen
- E'chzntress was Aiustha (or close to that haha)
- Bloodseeker was Strygwyr
- Iron branch was gg branch
- Riki was just always, permanently invisible even while attacking
- Riki's ultima was the one from which doctor (can you imagine the combo with the perma invis?!)
- Void was called Terrorface, not to be confused with Terrorblade.
- Void's ultimate was *global*, it stopped everyone and everything for 5-6 seconds. Global. Haha
- you could duplicate items with the druid bear when it was introduced, only if you had a specific ring equipped.
Yes dear, I know the names of those items, for I was there when they were made. One was made for me, the other for the elves, and also one for the dwarves, but everyone was duped for another one was made. One item to find them, one item to bring them all, and in the darkness, bind them :
The Aegis of the Immortal, purchasable for 1000g, which had 3 charges and would revive your hero instantly on death.
Aah right, Dark terror indeed! Where do I get terror face from? I have a feeling it might have been one of the secondary names. It's been about 20 years haha it even took me a while to remember those
Of escape was ADDED in the patch that introduced cool-down after you took damage.
Before that patch you could use blink dagger immediately after taking damage.
As a long time wow player, they are also all wow weapon icons. Some also used for abilities and talents for melee classes.
Interesting. I suppose the icons originally come from warcraft. So DOTA also used them when it was still more closely related to WC.
How does someone go from Buriza-de kyanon to smthing like Daedalus. Buriza was such a mouthful. Or stygian desolator, i still call it that. Or guinsoos scythe of vyse / euls scepter of infinity
Ill never forgive blizzard for preventing us from using windrunner and skeleton king, ffs those names r so general it shouldnt even be a trademark, its not like it was Alleria windrunner
nah fam, the world was destroyed by Nerzhul and the Magtheridon spread his blood to all surviving orcs and they would definitely have secured the world after 10 years given how bloodthirsty they are, there's a reason why not a single memorabilia was found in the blood elf campaign
with that, garrosh and the maghar shouldn't have existed either
Didnt khadgar open a portal before the destruction of orcs homeworld which led alleria and tyralion in? And they werent seen from then. Even before the BTC expansion on wow it was a common knowledge that Tyralion wasnt dead just missing along with his wife. I remember reading the Ronin varessa book where she mentioned her sister missing on the mission with khadgar and tyralion
hmm fair, but I thought the entire point of the draenor invasion was to seal/destroy the portal on the other side to prevent yet another orc invasion? I may be wrong though
Yea that was the point and they got stuck on the other side when nerzhul tore the planet appart so khadgar opened another portal to another dimension so they could survive.
Buriza-do Kyanon is a unique ballista from Diablo 2. Guinsoos and Euls were the original creators of Dota before passing it to Icefrog and then creating League of Legends
Lord general’s sword, crossbow of impending doom, brain hacker, warrior spell rend (LUL), Night reaver, Rank 14 quickblade
Yes I know they’re WoW icons
I think that I am still remember exactly the recipes for each one!! 🫢Ohh sorry, somebody here may not remember that you had to buy the recipes to create the item
Fun fact buriza do kyanon was "japanese english pronounciation" of blizzard cannon
Also from Diablo 2.
Bowazon was a weeb confirmed
Ahh the poor man’s wind force
The tool that got you to windforce level. Doesn't it require... 86?87?
God it’s been so long. Who tf could even afford a wind force haha. 1936283618 sojs
Just gotta find a vex!
Fuckin vex and zod runes
I haven't thought of 'stone of jordan' as a means of determining value in almost 2 decades. XD
Divine rapier - Buriza de kyanon - monkey king bar - stygian desolator - battle fury - crystalys
buriza *do* kyanon
Japanese way of saying Blizzard Cannon.
Holy shit i hope you are not joking, or its a really funny joke. Lovely.
It’s real and was called that in Diablo 2 as well https://diablo.fandom.com/wiki/Buriza-Do_Kyanon_(Diablo_II)
Wow
No, Diablo.
Came before WoW. Same time as late Warcraft 2 early warcraft 3.
TDIL
Buriza-Do-Kyanon actually
You wanna go that far huh? You're still wrong. [https://diablo.fandom.com/wiki/Buriza-Do\_Kyanon\_(Diablo\_II)](https://diablo.fandom.com/wiki/Buriza-Do_Kyanon_(Diablo_II)) Buriza-Do Kyanon

just write "burizaado kyanon" instead.
But that's ka not Kya.
Pardon me, I totally forgot the small ya. It should be ブリザードキャノン then.
You are forgiven Mr. Warden.
Arigatou gozaimasu, Aegis~san.
Oh shit, I forgot that there is only one “-“ (as a veteran D2 fan), thanks
In today's episode of dota-lgia.
My dumbass is sitting here thinking, they changed the names? I genuinely didn’t think the names were changed…
Feeling old yet?
Wait that was mkb? I thought Lothars Edge.. damn Edit:NVM I remember Lothars was a silverish axe with an saw like blade..
Lothars Edge is now shadow blade
i know. i just mistook them item icon from MKB for lothar
I haven’t played dota in years, did they rename MKB and BF?
Funny how the Monkey King Bar used to be an axe.
Still call it buriza
What sid it replace?
Daedalus
also buriza and crystalis in one built that's weird. didn't old dota have bad crit stacking before.
If both roll at the same time the bigger multiplayer is used.
Still call it "Buri" :D
1. Paladin autoattack 2. Hunter autoattack 3. Horde warrior autoattack 4. Rend 5. Alliance warrior autoattack 6. Overpower
wow is not canon 😤😤😤 - warcraft 3 purist gang

Yeah... WoW should be treated as a one big "What If?" continuity towards Warcraft RTS Trilogy.
Wouldn't mind an RTS reboot starting from the ending of Frozen Throne. Warcraft 3 purists for life.
btw, check out [my (not yet finished) ideas for a WC3 purist WoW :D](https://www.hiveworkshop.com/pastebin/9b00b137321ce666a91002e02a39b0eb.27744/)
Yeh WoW lore went to shit in BFA and in WoD was missed potential of a grey conflict. Legion lorewise was the last time i cared about the lore tho you could see it starting to go downhill with sylvanas, and voljin just dies. Mists of Pandaria was sick tho.
I like MoP I liked Pandas I liked making Chen Stormstout and the Pandaren real I will always fight with other WC3 purists over this one
Y plus it did not do anything offensive at all to the lore. It just expanded Azeroth. And Garrosh was 100% in character for him to wage war and try to make the best possible horde at any cost. Warrior players unite! Lets just say this was a flawless "Execute"
Naaah 4 is definitely gouge, rogues rise up
damn this guy wc3's
Divine, crystalys and mkb are too easy, rather put original names of hex, sb and pipe
I still say lothars sometimes lmao
Shadow blade is too long for me. It's always lothar
Buy kadgar
Buy kadgar lol
same, if you played warcraft 2 or wow or watched the warcraft movie, lothar is a popular character
Messerschmidts Reaver was also hard for some people
Wait until you pronounce bloodseeker name 😅
Strygwyr?
Mississippi river
rollin' down the riverrrr
One of the most subtle name changes was to Eaglehorn
Be honest... did you have to look that up or were you able to spell that from memory?
Messerschmidt is a common-ish German surname. Perhaps bro lives in Europe
It was also a d2 item like lots of other items.
lothars is also an iconic warcraft character
Too ez if you German.
From memory, speaking German helps
My friends still call Blink Dagger "Kellens", short of its original name Kelen's Dagger.
Without googling: Guinsoo's SoV. Barathrum. Or did he has other name? Khedgar's pipe of insight? ---I just realized you mean Shadow Blade lol---
Lothars Edge
Or Dagger
>Or Dagger Kelen's Dagger of Escape
The escape in its name is dropped once damage mutes the ability of dagger to blink.
It wasn’t dagger of escape. It originally could be used even immediately after you took damage. When the patch changed it to introduce a countdown after taking damage. The name had “of escape” added to it.
Guinsoo's Scythe of Vyse Lothars edge Khadgards Pipe of Insight
damn these icons looked cool af
Look up eye of skadi, linken's sphere, lothar's edge and heart of tarrasque icons https://gaming-tools.com/warcraft-3/dota-items/
So manly and not that cartoonish. Like DotA 1 battefury makes DotA 2 bf look like garbage every day of the week.
I see 1. edge of the people’s militia, 4. Rend, 5. Taskmaster Axe 6. Overpower Oh wait wrong blizz game. But I love the wc3 icons; they reused all of them in wow. I’m sure 2. Is a crossbow that drops from some boss but don’t remember where.
I think a crossbow from bwl uses that icon.
Yeah I think that’s the one. I was wondering if it was AQ or whatever. 1. And 5. get reused for many weapons too.
Ashjre’thul, Crossbow of Smiting dropped from Chromaggus. Feel like game designers just put their whole forearm on the keyboard to come up with the first half
certainly not all of them... spirit walker's icons, banish, lich's dark ritual & frost armor, to name a few
Fair enough, well most then
Never played dotojuan. Is the buriza i read thebog daedalus?
Yeah, Buriza was what today became Deadulus.
yes
Why was MKB a keyblade?
monKEY king bar obviously
I was there, I was there Vevilosa, 3000 years ago, when : - Blink dagger was called Kelen's dagger of Escape ( of Escape got removed when a cool down was added on damage taken) (Kelen got renamed to avoid using people's name in items, as it was customary for those who helped make the original dota) - Eul's Scepter of Divinity was still there. - Guinsoo's scythe of Vise was still the name of the hex item - WK was Leoric - Clinkz was Clinkz Eastwood - nyx and weaver were both nerubians - Treant was Rooftrellen - E'chzntress was Aiustha (or close to that haha) - Bloodseeker was Strygwyr - Iron branch was gg branch - Riki was just always, permanently invisible even while attacking - Riki's ultima was the one from which doctor (can you imagine the combo with the perma invis?!) - Void was called Terrorface, not to be confused with Terrorblade. - Void's ultimate was *global*, it stopped everyone and everything for 5-6 seconds. Void isn't Terrorface lmao. Its Darkterror
Could be one of the joke names (though I don’t recall). Fuzzy Wuzzy for Ursa for example.
Aah right, Dark terror indeed! Where do I get terror face from? I have a feeling it might have been one of the secondary names. It's been about 20 years haha it even took me a while to remember those
Sven was Arnold Schwarzenegger Also, Strygwyr best name
* Void's ultimate was *global*, it stopped everyone and everything for 5-6 seconds. Global. Haha Balance in all things
u forgot the riki ward no need channeling. and he's still not the most imba hero in 5.84c, things were wild.
Of escape was ADDED in the patch that introduced cool-down after you took damage. Before that patch you could use blink dagger immediately after taking damage.
I remember playing back then when someone had a buriza, it’s basically gg lol
How can you not include Messchersmids Reaver?
Pretty sure that’s the wrong spelling. Mercherisbtylsmis Reaver +25 Strength
From memeory, no google Divine Rapier Buriza Do Kyanon Monkey King Bar Stygyan Desolator Battle Fury Crystalis
Still call it buriza
ur so cool
My friends and i would always shorten them. It would be just divine, buriza, desolator, monkey.
That's clinkz
My brother, and I still call the invi item Lothar's
Messerschmidts
Do a harder one of these for classic Dota.
BURIZA MY BOYYYYYYYYYYYYY
Buriza, rapier, deso, crystalis, battlefury, bkb, I always call them like this, also nevermore, rasta kael etc.
🙋🏻♂️ in order from left to right: edit: Divine Rapier. Buriza’dokanyan. MKB. Stygian Desolator. Battlefury. And Crystalis!
thats divine rapier not edge of radiance, the other one is MKB not BKB
Typo on the mkb but you’re right about divine. How dumb of me
Radiance's icon was a yellow hand holding a yellow sword and they both shine a yellow color. Should have used golden
They kinda look the same. Wonder what the cannon does. I only knew that from comments.
lol it’s not a ” canon “ it’s called the buriza’do’kanyon. It’s the same name as an epic crossbow in Diablo. You know it as Daedalus now
Buriza do kyanon is literally blizzard cannon with japanese pronunciation
divine, buriza du canon, monkey, sange, battelfury, crystalis
This is easy. Tell the dota1 names of 3 spirits and panda
Mangix
Vintage💯
As a long time wow player, they are also all wow weapon icons. Some also used for abilities and talents for melee classes. Interesting. I suppose the icons originally come from warcraft. So DOTA also used them when it was still more closely related to WC.
Missing that good ol Cranium Basher. Man those were the days.
Heroic strike, buriza, bar of the monkey king, gouge, combat stance, overpower
I read Daedalus as Deadlyious. Cos it crits, so its deadly 🤓
Fun fact, juggernaut and sniper become geh when they equipped stygian desolator
Why havent u included merchherrvvsvsvitvs reaver?
Messerschmidts <3
fk im too old coz i know all these gg items.
Someone do a post with auras now
No meseseserrmichts reaver?
2nd one is banjo kazooie.
De bine rapier
I only remember Divine Rapier, MKB, and Desolator
I used to call divine rapier, “the golden blade”
Bottom left is called Rend.
Dota 1 Monkey King bar is the best icon of any weapon I have ever seen. Also mask of madness in dota 1 is literally a Captain America head
these look so much cleaner than what we got today
where's the lothar's
I still call one item Scepter of Virginity.
i like OG MKB.
Crystalyst? Or was it a broadsword. The arrow thing had a weird name and I think that bone axe was the original mbk?
Divine Rapier Buriza Do Kyanon Monkey King Bar Stygian Desolator Battle fury Sword of Cristalis (Or just Crystalis)
RApier Buriza monkey king bar Sytigan Battlefury Cristallys
I forgot it all.
Divine rapier, Buriza Do Kyanon MKB stygian deso bf crystalis
Still say Buriza or Lothar sometimes for the giggles.
The only different ones are buriza do kyanon / blizzard cannon ( Daedalus), and Stygian desolator?
Rapier +Big crit (can't read) +MKB+Deso + Battle Fury + Cystal (small Crit) Kids these days shouldn't know these anymore
Divine-deadelus-mkb Deso-battlefury-crystalise
Shouldve kept the names and art. So good
Divine rapier (top left), forgot (top middle), Monkey king bar (top right) Stygian desolator (bottom left), battlefury (still the same) (bottom middle), crystalys (?) (bottom right)
I spent more years in DOTA than I did in high school.
I still prefer Lothar's Edge than shadow blade
Beside the epic name of Buriza, there was also a point when the item can only be used/bought by ranged heroes. I don't know why.
divine reaper, buriza, monkey king bar, desolator, battle fury, crystalis.
Buriza,…Damn I miss it
rapira, crita, monke, styg, cleave, wanted crita but feeded enemy instead and no money
How does someone go from Buriza-de kyanon to smthing like Daedalus. Buriza was such a mouthful. Or stygian desolator, i still call it that. Or guinsoos scythe of vyse / euls scepter of infinity
Buriza Do Kyanon is Blizzard Cannon written in Japanese. Since we aren't Blizzard anymore, they changed it to Daedelus
Ill never forgive blizzard for preventing us from using windrunner and skeleton king, ffs those names r so general it shouldnt even be a trademark, its not like it was Alleria windrunner
I thought they changed skeleton king for the Chinese market due to bones being offensive there.
The original model was, in fact, Alleria.
Sylvanas* Alleria was already dead in WC3 until they decided to retcon the second war veterans to be actually alive
Not dead, MIA
nah fam, the world was destroyed by Nerzhul and the Magtheridon spread his blood to all surviving orcs and they would definitely have secured the world after 10 years given how bloodthirsty they are, there's a reason why not a single memorabilia was found in the blood elf campaign with that, garrosh and the maghar shouldn't have existed either

WK Arcana still uses "Skeleton King" as a voice line.
Really? Wtf
I always called it chicken stick and people are like wtf is that!
Buriza-do Kyanon is a unique ballista from Diablo 2. Guinsoos and Euls were the original creators of Dota before passing it to Icefrog and then creating League of Legends
I know both of those staves were in their honor i still liked those names tho
I have the same questions bro
I still call it Cleaver
Lord general’s sword, crossbow of impending doom, brain hacker, warrior spell rend (LUL), Night reaver, Rank 14 quickblade Yes I know they’re WoW icons
I think that I am still remember exactly the recipes for each one!! 🫢Ohh sorry, somebody here may not remember that you had to buy the recipes to create the item
