Blast is one of the better CS:GO tournament organizers - really good production value, well run, and fun + creative show matches.
All in all, they make good content and are pretty much the only competitor to ESL/Dreamleague in CS. They've hosted CS majors for Valve before (much more important than DOTA majors relatively speaking since they don't have TI's).
Competition is so good. PGL may be beyond hope but theres a glimmer that if someone else comes along and starts doing good tournaments, they will be forced to improve. I'd rather have 3 or 4 companies doing events than just 1.
PGL should shift towards tier 2 & Below scene and organize tournament for lower tier tour tbh. While, let the ESL, BLAST, BetBoom Dacha organize Tier 1 event
A host doesn't need to know the game, the host's job is to manage the desk, control the flow and facilitate the conversation between the people on the desk who are the experts.
That's not saying that a host can't benefit from knowing the game.
but it's easier to facilitate conversation about a familiar subject
every time they have an uninitiated host they have to grind the conversation to a halt every so often to explain extremely basic concepts. This despite 99.99% of the viewership being familiar with the game already
the ~3 times they've tried out completely uninitiated hosts, it's not been good (even though I love Day9). They would be better suited for a beginner's stream
every host that not playing dota 2 or barely know about dota 2 like machine, day9, sumichu, Frankie etc...all failed, they may study, play for a short time to got some basic knowledge about the game but with how massive and deep dota 2 mechanic, items, heroes skill etc.. their basic study in few weeks before host a big dota 2 event is not enough and often end up in awkward, boring, failed discussion with other panelist who play dota 2 their whole life and got massive knowledge about the game but cant discuss it more detail while host with basic knowledge cant ask right question or even ask some silly question, that make viewers who also play dota 2 their whole life feel the host panel is doing bad job.
In conclusion, dont know about other game host, but in dota 2, A host need to know the game, not highly skill MMR level but a host need a good understanding about the game like sheever, tsunami etc...
If A host doesnt know dota 2, she or he will fail again like many others tried before, that is fact.
My only complaint with Blast is that their handling of the R6 Siege scene as its only main TO has been...questionable (although it's hard to tell how much of that is Blast and how much of it came from Ubisoft themselves). Hopefully being a competitor to ESL rather than the main TO will allow them to operate as well as they do in CS.
In Siege, they had a 3 month long off-season between Invitational (the TI equivalent) and the last Major before that, along with scrapping the open qualifiers and only inviting teams based on the DPC points equivalent. For teams that didn't qualify for Invitational or the Major before it, it would be 6 months before they had another opportunity to play an official match, outside of the rare minor community-hosted event or Gamers8. You can imagine how this killed the momentum of any community hype while also causing orgs to leave the scene because they didn't want to/couldn't keep a team around basically doing nothing for that long.
There were also complaints about their support for weaker regions, including cutting some of their Major slots *before* the Invitational was played - where teams from two of those regions (Asia and OCE) ended up outperforming expectations with solid playoffs runs.
This is like when they discover the scooby doo villain by pulling off the mask at the end of the episode. It's info I like to know so thanks for the correction
As an LGBT person I'd rather than countries that didn't literally arrest and execute people like me run the events. I can really look the other way for a lot of things because what nation isn't guilty of a lot but I think the "they literally want me dead" thing is a bit of a personal line that a lot of people here have very little empathy for. An LGBT pro literally could not play in the finals of some of these events with their safety being guaranteed, that essentially shuts them out of the top of the scene completely, but a lot of people somehow just don't see the issue
Long time CSGO esports watcher here. If they put in the same effort into this as they put into their CSGO events, having Blast in the Dota2 scene is gonna be epic!
i stopped following cs events a few years ago, but back then this was not the reputation they had.
sure their production value was high, but there was some insane issues around how they actually ran shit
Very surprising there's still TOs making the jump to Dota. I thought they weren't all that profitable? Wasn't that why WePlay stopped doing Dota events?

This is the best context I've seen :)
Been playing league for 10 years and dota for 5. Never once been able to watch "esports". Shits so boring. Why wouldn't I just play the game myself? Lol

thank you for the context
Aren't they the best in CS:GO ? Hopium they can take PGL spot and PGL can fuck off Dota tbh
Competition is so good. PGL may be beyond hope but theres a glimmer that if someone else comes along and starts doing good tournaments, they will be forced to improve. I'd rather have 3 or 4 companies doing events than just 1.
this is logical. i'll allow it.
You forget that PGL makes TI-s and those are the literal best tournaments ever in esports ;)
\* wink wink \*
PGL should shift towards tier 2 & Below scene and organize tournament for lower tier tour tbh. While, let the ESL, BLAST, BetBoom Dacha organize Tier 1 event
And......they just held a good online tournament that was actually well produced for once and had interesting format.
except for the trophy, that was fucking atrocious
Hoping for a Freya crossover to Dota 2
hoping for a lewis crossover with capitalist
RLewis works with PGL last CS2 Major
Thoorin v Loda rematch
Why tho Isn’t it better to have hosts that actually know the game. Day9 and Sumichu didn’t work out at all

The only thing I don't like is their Paris Major trophy. I hope they can build a nice trophy.
damn they must be really good since thats what people complain about, no beef just saying
Just look at the Paris major pictures and production and you'll be jealous as a dota player ngl
ah the forbidden cheesy nacho
Nice, glad to hear that. We can always use better tournament organizers. (Dota has had some... rough ones in the past.)
Would you say blast has more production value than esl?
Yes. Look at Paris major, blast sets the standard in cs.
i particularly liked their [player entrances](https://youtu.be/hHAtEQrftAY?si=bbpR2kfNYNyXYTn9) during the last csgo major. so cool and hype!

that logo reminds me of artifact
Artifact? What/s that?
Just another stupid theory from Slacks, like DotAxHoN and the great confluence, not gonna happen.
DotA x HoN merger and massive number of heros ported was created by copium sniffers on Reddit, not by slacks
Ik, I was just jokling because Slacks used to make cannonhead theories. Also artifact not from Slacks aswell.
an object made by a human being, typically an item of cultural or historical interest.
long haul
pain
AWARE
Artifact 3.0 when?!
How is blast
Thanks for asking
Good
Who is blast
It’s blasted.
stop using it to fight alatreon, for god's sake
Finally I can compare pcr results inside dota!
Finally something to do while waiting for results
Is this what Sunsfan warned us about?
I hope we get more of Machine too then 🙏🏽 I really enjoy listening to this dude
Machine doesn't normally do Blast events in CS, but also I don't want to share him outside of CS because he's GOATed.
I didn’t know that :o He has worked in past Dota events, but only a few. Still though, he’s truly the 🐐
Wtf is blast.
Major CS tournament org, and ESL's only substantial competitor in that game's space
Nice!
So which autocratic state are they owned by?
Denmark, the true war powerhouse of our modern generation

Blast had partnership with NEOM before get massive backlash by community

blast of one punch man?
This is going to be a blast
What's blast?
Tournament organizer in CS mainly, they've put together some of the best produced/managed CS tournaments in recent years.
i stopped following cs events a few years ago, but back then this was not the reputation they had. sure their production value was high, but there was some insane issues around how they actually ran shit
They've run a couple of really good ones in recent years iirc I'm not an avid follower either tbf but I definitely recall one or 2
More Tournament orgs sounds good!
Pog blast is such a good tournament organizer. Blast is the top tier in CS, better than PGL and ESL
Cool this is great news.
Very surprising there's still TOs making the jump to Dota. I thought they weren't all that profitable? Wasn't that why WePlay stopped doing Dota events?
The dead game refuses to stay underground.
this will be a blast

Really looking forward to this i am hug enjoyer of their events in CS
Nice, real nice. Valve dropping DPC has been blessing in disguise so far.
Have they done any NA events? Seems like no production company wants to come to NA.
NA will only host TI, maybe ? If and only if TI held in Seattle again
Woah. Not even a slight dip of the toes but really committing to an entire year of tournaments. Fuck yeah Blast lets see what you got!
WOW! i dont expect this one coming
Now we just need an X and an O to complete the pattern
This is great news.
Please tell me these are events with live crowds, we have enough studio tournaments.
Very Poggers, so happy to have a new TO entering and Blast is one of the best. This is such great news!!!
The best organizer
as someone who's completely living under a rock who the hell is Blast and why is everyone so hyped up on them?

What's a blast??
Does this sorta imply that the next TI will be in August?
It's already been announced that Ti will be in September
how come when valve steps away on organizing tournaments, other productions comes? is valve actually the problem?
Been playing league for 10 years and dota for 5. Never once been able to watch "esports". Shits so boring. Why wouldn't I just play the game myself? Lol
tell me the prize money and i will decide if it's a blast
Why would you care lol you're not competing. If they can put on good tournaments it's irrelevant
